Tesla Just Slashed Prices & Everyone's Freaking Out

this week's latest Tesla news includes price Cuts recalls and big changes that we need to talk about so Tesla is going through some major changes right now especially leading up to their big important earnings call tomorrow and as of last night Tesla just slashed the price of full self driving if you remember recently they just reduced the price of the full self-driving subscription from $200 a month to $100 a month and now they've just lowered the price of full self-driving onetime purch from $112,000 to $88,000 and at its peak full self-driving costs $115,000 and it's weird because it kind of goes against what Elon said four years ago in 2020 when he said FSD price will continue to rise as the software gets closer to full self-driving capability with regulatory approval well seems to be the opposite uh it's gotten way better but now it's almost half the price of it as it was then and it's only $2,000 if you already have have enhanced autopilot so that is a big deal but what's interesting now is that enhanced autopilot is no longer available to buy with the fact that FSD is getting cheaper and closer to the price of what EAP or enhanced St pilot was I have a feeling EAP is gone and based on what Elon was saying does this mean we are further away from regulatory approval well I will share my theory with you at the end of this video and speaking of price cuts the Tesla Model y the model X and the model S just got $2,000 price cuts across the board the model y on Tesla's website showcasing it as under $30,000 with the estimated savings from the federal tax credit and the potential gas savings so don't get misconstrued from that the cheapest model Y is the rear wheel drive and it's still going to be about a $40,000 car uh even after the tax credit when you account for all the fees and destination fees and and taxes so technically there's no $30,000 model y right now but right now might be the best time to buy a model y just know that you know they're trying to push these model y because within sometime of the next year they're going to be updating and refreshing the model y so it's going to get a new interior new features if you buy a model y this year before the refresh comes you're technically you know by having the old outdated model y but you know what it's still a great car especially for this price and speaking of a new model y there's been a rumor that I heard on Ryan McCaffrey's Tesla podcast about a new paint color cominging into North America that they've had in Europe it's it's Quicksilver it looks great again this is something that we kind of heard on the podcast it hasn't been confirmed yet but he was very confident from one of his Tesla sources that is coming soon maybe with the new model y refresh we'll see an option of the Quicksilver paint color so that is kind of exciting however something that is not exciting is the ending of the referral program at the end of April so in a few days but Elon did say that uh a new program is being built and will come sometime in the future so Tesla has done this in the past they've ended the referral program then they brought it back and they ended it again they brought it back the good news is that your credits if you have earn any earned credits you'll be able to use those even after the referral program ends in fact I just redeemed some credits to get the model y roof rack let me know if you have any suggestions for a bike mount for the model y roof rack now some other new things to look forward to in the near future are the 2024 model 3 Performance it's expect to come out any day now a lot of the details just got leaked this model 3 is the most powerful model 3 ever made with over 500 horsepower and here are some of the latest highlighted features first the latest generation driving mode integrates adaptive suspension controls with a performance optimized powert trining to deliver more respon and better programming for heat management allnew ventilated sport seats with enhanced side and cushion bolsters hold you in place while ventilation keeps you cool Forge Performance Wheels that are lightweight and in a staggered setup the new lightweight carbon fiber decor and weave pattern is unique to the new model 3 Performance the only details we don't know about that yet are the final price in the range but be on the lookout for the model 3 Performance very soon and hopefully that will be eligible for that full tax credit another thing to look forward to coming soon for not just model 3 Performance people but all Tesla owners the new spring update and here are some highlights from the upcoming spring release visual updates for model 3 and model y with the AMD ryzen chip you're going to get immersive fullscreen vehicle controls when par a newly designed media player with playback controls and quick access expandable autopilot driving visualizations with a smaller map in the top right for trip guidance and if you're a fan of audiobooks audible is now becoming a native streaming app in the Tesla which is great a hands-free trunk mode is coming to model snx 2021 and later and the upgraded model 3 so you can stand behind your trunk protecting your privacy today now let's talk about some of the more unfortunate news Tesla has recently laid off up to 10% of its Workforce one of the bigger losses for Tesla just happened when Drew bino left the company he was an executive officer at Tesla and served as the senior vice president of powert train and Energy Engineering if you watch the 4680 battery presentation from a few years ago he pretty much LED that and Tesla's vehicle future relies heavily on that 4680 battery and uh Drew back ler just a big loss for Tesla and and of course the big news is the cybertruck recall that just happened so Tesla stopped all cybertruck deliveries for a week and a voluntary recall has been filed for 3,878 cyber trucks due to an unimproved lubrication that was used in the fitment of the accelerator pedals preventing adhesion to the metal and the risk include unintended acceleration and possible hindrance of breaking Tesla's taking this very seriously obviously it's a safety issue and it looks like they're already doing a permanent solution by drilling a hole and a rivet into the pedal I don't think that's a big deal I think it's going to get solved pretty quickly but the the big thing that I was wondering about when I saw this was has there only been 3,878 cyber trucks delivered so far if they were doing a recall you think they would recall all the Cyber trucks that have been delivered that seems like a very low number to me I'll be very interested to see how the cybertruck delivery process and ramp is going maybe they'll share some information on that on the earnings call tomorrow so let me give you my final thoughts on this full self-driving price cut Tesla has always struggled with the adoption rate of full self-driving due to the high price so obviously by reducing the price it's going to allow more people to buy it more adoption and this I think is probably up there for one of the biggest reasons why they did this Tesla wants the data more data coming in more people driving with full self driving is going to bring more data in it's going to make their full self-driving software better and especially with elon's recent announcement that the robo taxi unveil Isen in less than 4 months right now it looks like Tesla is really focusing a lot of their efforts on full self-driving and really trying to perfect it and get this done as soon as possible because when you think about it what is the unique advantage of Tesla previously I would have said the supercharger Network you know that's one of the reasons why I bought a Tesla was the first of all the technology I love the software it's seamless it's fast it's better than any car software but also the supercharger network was a huge benefit you know being able to road trip and not worry about where I'm to charge with all the superchargers well now the supercharger network is open to other non- Tesla EVS so that's no longer just a benefit of buying a Tesla another unique advantage that I would have said up to this point I still say is the vertical integration you know Tesla controls everything from software to Hardware they try to build everything inhouse which is a big benefit and of course it leads to the benefits of having great software and the motor efficiency The Battery Technology all of that is is probably top of the line in the industry by Tesla but it really sounds like Tesla is trying to make full self-driving their unique Advantage if you think about all the other EV competition right now everybody's saying you know Tesla's struggling because more EVS are coming and the competition is growing so of course Tesla is going to dip well I think Tesla is trying to make sure that everybody knows that if you buy Tesla you're going to get the best full self-driving experience whether that's level two level three level four level five eventually and here's what I personally think Tesla should do for full self driving I think they should lower it to $5,000 and I think they should do it at a certain date and I think they should say hey anybody who buys full self-driving right now before this day will be able to lock it in to their Tesla account so that they can take it with them when they upgrade to a newer Tesla that's the biggest complaint right now and the biggest problem in my opinion and it's why I don't recommend buying full self- driving if you're because you know you lose it with a car and a lot of people don't keep their cars for very long unfortunately and obviously the best solution right now if you're looking at full self driving just get the monthly subscription you can cancel at any time it's 100 bucks a month that's the way to go the only reason I bought it is because I'm a YouTuber I wanted to test it out for you guys if I was a normal driver there's no way I would buy full self driving until it was is actually ready level five for the robotaxi but it's going to be interesting to see that robot taxi announcement because that
