welcome connor to the stage [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] do [Music] [Applause] um thank you for watching uh that piece you just heard was the the g or the last movement from js box six cello suite um so i'm connor padmanabhan i'm from palo alto california which is uh just south of san francisco which is where this church is right now um and the next piece i'll be playing is the hungarian fantasy by johan caspar mertz this song is based on a hungarian dance so it has lots of power in the piece [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] do [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] well good evening everyone um it's been a long time since that last time anybody said on a real stage so real thanks to the only foundation for putting all this effort for all of us and so tonight the program consists of 10 short pieces that i call them my current favorite playlist it's play best and then i'll start with the three baroque uh pieces the first one is from a less well-known composer portuguese composer carlos sessions in his keyboard sonata number 24 transcribed for classical guitar and you can let us know in the comment section who do you think he sounds like [Music] so [Music] do [Music] so [Music] okay so segment is baroque music is from uh gently revolt of a french composer and this particular particular piece is from the fourth movement the last movement movement of one of his opponents and in this movement in short is talking about how three boys chasing one girl [Music] so [Music] so it's a truly blessing to be able to play this music in this instrument there's so enjoyable um okay so the next piece is by domenico he's keyboard sonata k53 [Music] so [Music] do [Music] my [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Applause] so the following music is the oldest conversation i'm going to present today it's by the renaissance composer john dob so recently scholars have found that this piece might not be authentic jungle and peace but it has been maybe misunderstood as his music but nonetheless the beauty of this music is great enough that making us to think this should be a john donald piece but let's hear this great piece of conversation by john noland a fancy t73 [Music] [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] so so [Music] [Applause] okay so now we're going to take a turn i'm going to present you a very modern piece composed by a brazilian contemporary composer marco miracle pereira and this piece is called a frivolo is a form of dance brazilian dance [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Applause] uh so the next piece is by augustin barrios uh this piece of music in english is called an album for the love of god um many of you already know how burials was inspired by one day of homeless man knocking on his door as an intro and then it invokes all these different sensations emotions out of a human's heart so it reminds me particularly in my life's experience reminds me of one day um it's at night in los angeles me and my friend drove a car with leftover pizza and the diet coke and then it was a very cold day and we passed by this intersection and there was a homeless guy end up with a car season any food so we gave we drove past and stop drove back and give him food and it's a mixed feelings or you feel like compassion and then you feel sorry and you always feel like how appreciated that you you you have your life opportunities what you have what some people don't have and then the sadness and the kindness just mixed feelings and meaning feelings go through your heart like movies flash and then i think all of those emotions can be experienced or expressed in such a piece like this and i hope you enjoy [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] so the next piece of music is by um one of the most uh one of my idols he's roland diaz the reason why is because he can play the guitar and he can play classic turn he can cross genre he can compose he can arrange and i think deep deep inside my mind there is something that is craving for african elements and so i instantly fell in love with these genres of music and then this piece is the third movement of his liberating is called flocco means fire [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] the next composition is composed as the theme of the movie the schindler's list it's composed by film composer john williams later transcribed for castle guitar by the guitar john williams and um i've made my own modifications and re-transcribed it to this version um so what touches me the most of the message from this film and this music is i think the beauty of humanity and because towards the end of this film how the schindler the industrial german industrial leader who uh saved 1100 jewish people from the world war ii by his own hand he buys them to his factory in order to save them is very very touching and he still thinks he hasn't done enough at the end of the film he he cries i'm talking about i have wasted so much why did i have this car i could have saved 10 more people and that really really touched my soul and here is the schindler's list [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] do [Applause] [Music] so the last solo piece of uh this program is also by our dance deeply captured by the spirit of this piece of music it is the third movement of the one piece of sonata is called trillian which came inside three pieces and this piece uh this type of clown dog inspired by brazilian music has a title of jesus multi in there and so what i listen to to kind of get me into this um not so classical way of performing this piece so i want to share with you one of my favorite artists that inspired me to play this piece richard bona uh richard and v-o-n-a he's like one of the british musicians i really love and i really encourage everybody to hear his music and compared to this piece of music [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] the last piece of tonight's program uh is a duet repertoire by astr piazzolla um so this piece is the ninth club 1960 of the set the history of tangles so now will we please invite my great friend and the violinist strength she to the stage thank you oh so this is strauss g my friend we've been playing ever since our undergraduate years in julia new york and now we both later went to usc in los angeles and so today's program this piece the little history of the tango during the war european war many europeans would force to leave their hometown their country they would hop on a boat or a big ship sail all the way to some of them and up in south uh america to argentina so what they had with them are only musical instruments because they don't share the same currency so what they do is they uh get on shore and play music and have fun with the locals during the daytime so that's where we have the fast angle and then the slow tango is portrayed when they have their down times when uh imagine the sunset and they have this uh nostalgic moments sitting in a nightclub and thinking about their hometown that they cannot go back to um so here is this very very interesting piece by azur piazzolla nightclub 1960. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hmm [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you
