What a tragedy, Jess. >> Absolutely, Erica And Eric, this deadly shooting happened up on the Pierce elevated section of I-45 through downtown here,up Houston police believe this teen on intentionally swerved in front of the gunman's car in order to avoid a breaking vehicle in front of her. The 17 year old with a bright future said her uncle was shot and killed early Sunday morning as she traveled through Houston. According to Houston police, Wilson was driving this small sedan on the Pierce elevated when she swerved in front of another vehicle and its driver responded with violence. >> After she cut him off, he drove up next to her and discharged his weapon into her vehicle, striking her. And then he fled the scene. >> Wilson died at the scene. A 17 year old passenger was also shot and treated and released from the hospital while a third person was not hurt. Today, her uncle set up a GoFundMe in support of her family and told Abc13, quote, Louise was a great girl, a wonderful soul, a great daughter, granddaughter and sister and to have her life senselessly taken by a dirtbag. This should not have happened. The teen from Whitney, Texas, a small town 40 miles northwest of Waco, was home schooled. He said she and her friends were driving to Galveston and they stopped at a bucky's along the way in downtown Houston. They were three hours into their four hour drive when the angry driver filled their car with bullets. The uncle and Wilson's father served in the military. He added, quote, This is not the country we fought to protect, and it breaks my heart because I know it's not just happening to us. He said. There is a real crime issue in this country.
