jason do you want to walk us through it man it is so easy to make alcohol we've done it we didn't we were scared to drink it we didn't drink it it's pungent oh god oh god it's just a bunch of rotted fruit that's been in ketchup that's been kept warm no no no we made oh yeah we did drink that what's happening down here oh that's the sarsaparilla oh cheese and cheesecloth oh got it it does look like it's alive it looks like it's in formaldehyde and we did the uh the orange juice one it's fizzing no yeah oh my god oh wow you can smell the hoochiness am i hearing correctly that you guys have never actually consumed the alcohol even oh oh no we have we're not no i mean we're all school yeah you brought me here to do this yeah because you run a distillery right yeah yeah you signed the did he sign the release yeah he will yeah so super easy to make alcohol right and there's so many recipes online for making wine and it's essentially just sugar and yeast yep that's it but we've got a couple of uh variants here uh corey yep come on over oh yeah yeah corey's the one who actually did the hands-on corey are you the adult in the room yes as sad as that is yes tell us you made a couple of variants here what are we looking at so we have of course a white grape variety we have the darker grapes and then we have a a wild card wild card okay so some of these are actual off the shelf bottled wine yeah some of these are box wines or super cheap lines you can get from the grocery store to compare to our homemade wine so nothing on here is fancy uh no okay being a discerning and trained drinker should be able to determine whiskey it would be it would be a huge embarrassment if you weren't able to get her out which one we've made in a corner of our laundry room come here to the box fun take a little i'm gonna get this [Music] perfectly okay let's be honest zero errors pouring moving out there it's gonna happen let's be honest cory and i need a little side gig this is kind of a shark tank thing i mean kind of i guess the game is on huh corey uh so they each have their own samples some of these are legit some of them not is that but you know which one's which yes awesome um yeah let's get started gentlemen the white there's like a film why is there a film on this it's got legs no it's got it it's got a roof there's no legs involved here most charitably i would describe this as it looks like a champagne kind of thing it's it's it's bubbly but there is like this but it smells like paint thinner yeah there's a surface tension thing going on that's kind of congealing this bubbly filmic i actually get a hint of elmer's glue oh you're right totally right you're gonna have to sign nda's now oh elmer's in like a wet paper type of deal too yeah no there's definitely elmer's glue in there here smell it smell it did you ferment elmer's glue definitely elder's glue [Laughter] can you ferment elmer's glue corey write that down [Music] it's got kind of like a it's very sweet it's very sweet with like a papery finish this is just almost a simple syrup it's almost like a carbonated simple syrup with just like this most thinned out little element of apple juice and then like a wet paper vibe in there so verdict off the shelf or rogue made road made yeah this is gotta be real this was off the show somebody needs to take a hard look at that show not only rogue made but i give it 50 50 that there's actual elmer's glue in this i can't discount that okay officially road made rogue made what's next the other white the other white much more clear not viscous this is super light in color this is like damn near a water except we're in a dark room yeah it's still this would play as as as water yeah what are you getting on the nose virtually nothing like a dry so it's much more in the white wine category yeah it's dry it's not nearly as sweet as that let me travis put it this way i have not yet sipped it but i already suspect this of being traditional box wine okay that's a real box wine that's something i would hang around a bunch of cairns at the pool with my mom as as dry as it was on the nose it's actually much sweeter on the taste okay yeah a lot more of a sugary here's a here's a hint i'm going to finish it actually no i'll leave a little bit all right oh this this is a like uh grape juice yeah i'm recoiling because i'm pretty sure this is already i'm going to say i think it's rogue made and under fermented because it smells just straight up like grape grape juice yeah all right i'm going in gunky grape juice oh it tastes like it's it's just straight-up grape juice like purple candy yeah like yeah maybe some sugar in there yeah purple candy and grape juice that's that's rogue vineyards for sure rogue made okay all right uh i'm saying that's an eighty percent chance it's rogue made i've had some budget stuff where yeah no this is like wine cooler-esque type of wine but all right i'm gonna get through the other two or the other oh my god okay the other the other red the 50 cent mark bread this one smells really great juicy too this is more developed so that's the rug made i was 80 i'm 100 locking that in that was the other one this is going to be an actual off-the-shelf one on the nose so far okay oh nope nope this one's a roadmap they're both big wait did you ferment cough syrup oh my gosh it's so sweet they're both road made that's my take the nose was almost presented like a budget wine on this thing you couldn't chew the taste what did i ever do to you i've been nothing but nice and delightful to you okay so mystery rich caramel color please be whiskey that would be really clutch move by the way he threw down a whiskey that would be amazing this smells straight up like it's not a whiskey it's it looks like apple juice yeah you going in is apple wine a thing apple wine is definitely yeah okay absolutely this was much better than i feared so what do you think off the shelf i mean if you guys made it it's not bad i'm still missing what i would say is the the ethanol layer that i'm looking for in a wine in other words more booze please yeah yeah yeah the more blue the guy who drinks whiskey that well the only one that so far the only one to me that really felt like an off-the-shelf budget wine was one of the first ones we did this one i'm going to say my official guess is they're all homemade except for this one okay so you guys are betting the same one off the shelf for rogue made yes cory tell them what they've won you've won botulism an afternoon on the toilet all right let's start on this side so the ones you thought were off the shelf absolutely correct that is pictures okay i needed to kill all the germs from these okay i'm going to skip around a little bit this one right here yeah that was a weird one yep y'all did basically nail that that is a blend of apple juice and grape juice and whatever fruit they had to throw in there okay so definitely got the apple i wasn't picking up the grapes so much well what's funny is it smells more aptly and then when you drink it it felt more like traditional wine now real quick the recipe again all you're doing is adding sugar you're blending stuff adding sugar and adding um brewer's yeast no not brewer's use just regular yeast bread yeast off the shelf no kids yeah so regular uh bread yeast will get you somewhere between 10 and let's say 15 alcohol okay brewer's yeast will uh uh cook it on up to closer to 20. so the the fill me the filmmaker filmy the film industry that's what it's called that is definitely a modern rogue made i thought it's at its finest the film was an extra zest i mean what what did this start off as and why is it bubbly in a way that the others are not this is just straight a 100 grape juice white grape juice that you'd find in a regular grocery store uh how watts fill me who knows maybe [Laughter] maybe maybe sit that's that's lint because it definitely sits in the laundry room right here i need to take a photo of this when we need to explain it to the doctors [Laughter] so you can actually keep racking the wine is what it's called so you filter off the top clean part and leave the sediment at the bottom and that's how you filter out more of that junk so that one i did not get to filter the flavor layer let's call it that is the it's a little extra okay so the the reds y'all are mostly wrong these are off the shelf one of them what okay this is the final challenge let's see now we know okay okay so okay one of these is off the shelf and one of them is rogue made okay first of all uh the fact that one of these is rug made and you guys got this kind of clarity just visually yep that's pretty damn good these oh you're right these two right here are these accurate price points we're we're working on that is this the cost of ingredients yeah the 50 cent one really just straight up smells like grape juice and i don't know that i've experienced that with wine whereas the right i'm going to go ahead and say the red one was the one i was most proud about that is close yeah yeah so you you realize that was uh getting close to the yeah yeah yeah yeah they're both sorry they're both bad i didn't say that i'm gonna lock it in 50 cent is rogue made and ten dollars is box wide okay hold on hold on because i may disagree with you oh let's make it interesting you know what now if i get this wrong it's going to be for one very specific reason brian because you're not very good at knowing things about alcohol everybody knows this already that's been well documented i make no claims the nose on this is so much more the ten dollar one is so much more weird and homemadey but the taste is like okay that's reasonable the nose on this one it's like that's a reasonable nose then you get into the taste it's just wow what the hell is going on i'm gonna i'm gonna lock in based on the taste this is the rogue made one so we agree we do yeah okay yeah y'all got it out we were wrong we were full on wrong neither of us expected this to be a box wine we did get that one wrong and it's getting close i mean kudos to you for getting kind of close to
