I mean it's too loud to be stealthy so it has a built in smoke screen!

Glad they were wearing ear protection.

Ooof! Gave me chills hearing it cough up a bit into a deep humming noise.

You hear stories about the world wars, and how the battlefields were "choked in smog" or the war machines "belched" out smoke... between this and the amount of smoke coming from the guns and artillery as well I can appreciate those metaphors more.

Hey folks, Great that you're watching! See this tank behind me? This is a Type 69-II, Which actually belonged to Saddam Hussein. It was captured by the English and then taken to England to rust. You could call this a challenge, what do you think Dirk? I think this will be an enjoyable challenge! We bought it and are restoring it, A little while ago we've started the tank engine! But we haven't been idle: After that we've been restoring the entire tank. Removing a lot of components, together with loads of rust, Creating and buying new tank parts The moment is finally here: We can finally start the tank, And hopefully drive for the first time! Let's throw this thing on! We'd like to be able to kill the engine if it malfunctions, so we've made two planks that can cover the inlet if needed, So, I guess that nothing can go wrong... Master power: On Let's check the oil pressure, We got that! Here we go... It's starting! Pump some more fuel? - Yes go ahead. It does smoke a little! -Yeah it'll start. You didn't give enough gas, right? - Guess so, let's start again. Start the thing! Dirk, Dirk, 10 bar! It's working! it's smoking a lot less now. It's warming up. Let's check the temperature. 30! This is awful, isn't it? -Where does it come from? From here, it's just as bad on the other side. -Oh it just sprays it out of here! That's because it is heating up, the oil is getting thin! Well, we're ready to try again, aren't we Dirk? - Yeah, yeah yeah We've closed this thingy here. We've closed the "ejector tubes" right there, to prevent oil from spraying out of there. We've removed our exhaust extension, so maybe that'll lower the pressure and make the tube suck. To essentially make the venturi do his thing. We could remove the tube and test that when the motor is running, we could feel if it actually blows air out or sucks it in. We've also dissassembled the tank tracks at the sprockets, because we want to check if the steering clutches do their job. We can do that without the risk of driving straight through the wall or right into the field here. We can try it, can't we? -We are ready! Okay, great! -Are we going to do it? Let's do it! It's in neutral, We have to activate the power. -Here it comes. Pressure. Master battery. -Put this one like this... Here we go! Is it empty? The fuel pump isn't calibrated. -The fuel pump has to be calibrated, this doesn't work. It has to go earlier, it'll be way more aggressive! I think that the oil and diesel that it's spitting out is completely fine. Im guessing that's a bit Russian. It isn't that weird that all of the tank skirts at the back of a type 69 are completely black! Yes, turn it a little. - Yes. That's the right direction. That's one cog. Is one cog enough? - I don't know, we could try two. What do you think? -We shouldn't let it backfire. No, no, no! -That will be awful. The entire engine head will fly through the air. Okay, so we're going to start it again! We've calibrated the fuel pump one cog, let's see if it smokes a little less. It should make the difference, let's see! This isn't right! It's completely out of order now. Only one cog... -Yeah, but it doesn't start anymore. It has to go back. Now it's just like before. - Okay Yes, here it goes! It drives! We have some things to look at, but it drives! The first meters are a reality! This really is a highlight! If you don't want to miss anything, check out the Workshopvlog! We post daily videos there about the things we do here. You can see everything there, all other projects and everything behind the scenes. Take a look! T(h)ank you for watching, see you next time!
