for our first trip of the year we areย  spending 12 days traveling around Taiwanย ย  Today, we're visiting Dadaocheng, home to the oldest street in Taipei the most popular for its festive Lunar New Year activities But first, a classic Taiwanese breakfast it's our first time at this popular soy milk shop in ximending known for its traditional taiwanese breakfast staples like fan tuan a sticky rice roll stuffed with pork floss and preserved vegetables so they actually use a qr system to place your orders online maybe the dan bing and the soy milk two orders of soymilk one of the salty soy milk with fried dough what's the difference between 'oil' and 'burning oil' ๐Ÿค” you pay at the counter after ordering online the shop downstairs was pretty small so they seated us on the second floor try this soymilk a little bit sweet... nice flavor so ordering from the app was confusing... we got our xiaolongbaos or soup dumplings a dan bing this salty tofu soup with fried dough and a classic soy milk so i'm going to start with the salty soy milk this one's more like a broth if you notice it has the fried dough in it it's kinda soggy already definitely very savory not very soy (tasting) but there's chunks of soy in it if you notice there's also spring onions and tiny bits of shrimp which you can really taste it's like a seafood-y dashi flavor xiaolongbao super like explodes in your mouth dan bing it's like a teriyaki sauce... but like with a dan bing so that was a really quick and easy taiwanese breakfast all for 210 NTD here's a handy map of the dadaocheng area they've outlined where the souvenir shops are the tourists spots and must eat food, and we're starting from over here this is the first shop that we entered last year the cafe at the bottom of this boutique hotel is so chic first coffee of the day enjoyed their pour over cool selection of vintage furniture dihua is the oldest street in taipei it comes alive in the days before the lunar new year i love that he has a little jacket... him too! lots of sweets and desserts for the new year first time seeing this unique dessert wait for it whoa came across this long line it's like everybody is lining up for this daifuku taiwanese jams look so good oolong tea spread so we're back at the dadaocheng visitor's center after a year again, it's a few days before the chinese lunar new year there's so many more people compared to last year walking around and we're so excited to just walk around, check out all the heritage spots in this area aside from keeping up the lantern area from last year i noticed that they added area where you can wear traditional taiwanese or chinese outfits @badun8484 on youtube it's like a pick you own meat situation it starts to get crowded as you go further down the street these taiwanese candy shops are super popular time for a taiwanese sausage - can i have one?
