SYMPTOMS OF A BAD TURBOCHARGER

i hope you guys are all having an incredible day easy autofix here and today we're going to learn symptoms of a bad turbo the purpose of the turbochargers they increase the amount of pressurized air into the engine more air allows the ecm to command more fuel which equals to more power the location of the turbo charger will typically be near the exhaust manifold the first symptom of a bad turbo charger is having your check engine light on a common code for a malfunctioning turbo is a p0299 indicating turbo under boost this code is triggered when the ecm calculates a low boost rating now you can read this code by going to the parts store near you and they'll most likely do it for free or you can buy the scanner that i have that's worth it linked in the description below now just because you have a p0299 code doesn't exactly mean you have a faulty turbo there could be other reasons so let's move on to the next symptom the second symptom of a bad turbo is poor performance now since the turbo is responsible for bringing more air into the engine to mix with more fuel to create more power if it's failing it won't be able to bring in more air so the ecm won't command more fuel leaving you with a lack of power the third symptom you might be experiencing is blue smoke coming out of your exhaust the reason behind this is due to worn oil seals inside the turbo when this happens oil moves past the seals travels through the intake and into the combustion chamber where it gets burned and turns into blue smoke this leads me to the next symptom a loss of oil if you're noticing you're having to pour more oil into your engine lately it might be due to worn turbo oil seals the fifth symptom is odd noises that progressively gets louder as you increase speed if you hear a whiny noise it could be due to defective bearings inside the turbo or you might hear a grinding noise from the impeller scratching the sidewall good deal we just learned symptoms of a bad turbo if you guys want to see more videos like this make sure to like and subscribe so i can see you in the next video
