hey everybody it's Mark Thomas the home builder and today I'm doing something that's a little different than what other people have done as far as rocket stoves or the Swedish torch what I'm going to do is I built two of them we're going to have two fires side by side and we'll see what works better so number one it's uh made of Cypress I'll give you a closer view of what that is and number two it's white pine and that one is more of the true Swedish torch so let's take a close up of each one stay tuned okay this is item number one this is the cedar a true rocket stove you can see I drilled out a hole and you look down there and I'm going to put paper and fatwood in there and we'll see how this Burns and right next to it the number two item White Pine this is a little bigger in diameter I kind of wish uh this is more of the true Swedish torch so I do have a little hole that I drilled in there for kicks just to help get it started I'm going to put fat wood and paper in there as well so I'm going to get them started and I'll show you some progress along the way all right here here we are just a couple minutes into it and you can see they're smoking pretty good hopefully they start burning hot and the smoke goes away cuz it's yeah it's pretty Smoky all right here we are about 20 minutes into it the rocket stove seems to be taking more work to get it to go uh there was a little bit of fire that came out of the hole but it kind of died out but if you look here at the Swedish torch this Pine it's really taken off guess that's why they call it flash wood the way Pine works but anyways uh there's a lot more air that gets to it by doing those chainsaw Cuts or you could split it with an axe or a wedge and pull it back together tight anyways this this one is doing a lot better from the start we'll give this one some time this will work good if you're looking to heat up some water yeah you can see a little bit of flame coming out the top right now yeah this one right here it would really um yeah you'd really burn your pan with that one all right this one seems to be taken off finally so I'm put a couple sticks to the side and wants to roll on me there we go there we'll get that water boil and see how long it takes all right yep you can see how this works got a good flame coming through finally and I'm going to have coffee pretty soon we'll see how long it takes to start perking here we are about 40 minutes into it it's been pretty windy yeah here is the rocket stove that works good if you aim that hole towards the wind you can see how that let me zoom out it's really burnt that hole wide open where this one I put a little hole in it but that um it burns a little different it didn't really open the hole didn't open up much but it does let air into it so I think that really helped this take off fast cuz it seemed like within 10 minutes this thing was going really good where this one if you don't have that wind blowing in that hole then that player seems to die down this is kind of cool let me get a closeup of this yep all right so as I conclude my video here you can see the rocket stove works good for making coffee and the Swedish candle whatever they call it that works good to take off right away and that's good to roast items on where that just has a small flame that comes out where this is a nice big more of a campfire type style so let me hear your thoughts if you have any please give me a thumbs up if you would thanks for watching have a great day
