all right here we are here we are back at walmart i don't know if this is your favorite place to shop i don't think it is but it's one place that we enjoy coming to see what they have to make sushi with now this walmart's probably different from your walmart depending where you're at so we're going to show you what we have here and show you some basic ingredients basic sushi roll making and how to do it from scratch this is a cheap price 58 cents i'll get some okay so maybe more right look at it all these are soft already yeah but not a bad deal 58 cents [Music] english cucumber oh these are nice we use this a lot in the restaurant we hit the jackpot [Music] oh this is great this wasabi is great okay [Music] want some sesame seeds [Music] [Music] they're not toasted though right not toasted yeah let's take a little toaster here how's that yeah show them how to do that [Music] very classic this one i remember seeing chinese restaurants back in the day on the table [Music] or sriracha gonna make a spicy [Music] let's take one of these okay i found a very very good one look at this only one dollar one maybe two if you put the yeah full one right all right here you go this is called seafood snackers a dollar for four and this is you can use this one too well those are nicer uh let's see this is basically if you see here it's mostly pollock which is a alaskan pollock which is a basically a white fish there's no real crab in here just water egg whites cornstarch sugar and the rest of the good stuff uh all different kinds of crabmeat you guys can also get this one too called crab delights this is also made from sustainable wild alaska pollock same ingredients pretty much all right so okay now we're only looking for one more thing we need someone to roll all this stuff back with yeah but we don't have anything so now here we have the idea let's go to the homewares area our housewares see what we find all right here son we are back in the studio yes after that walmart run let's go through the ingredients here what do you what we picked up sure this is a grab stick yes nicely whole piece i'm going to use yes yeah we're going to use a two piece of one roll okay two rolls actually you can do with the avocado okay and then another ones are easy cucumber oil yes cup okay seaweed outside okay and then sesame seeds so i'm going to toss right now okay and soy sauce i want to talk about this wasabi we found this in walmart believe it's japanese brown but take a look right there you see wasabi is one of the ingredients not just a horseradish so highly highly recommend if you can't find real wasabi try and find this product this is the next best thing forget the powdered stuff yeah you guys will really enjoy this nutty right okay and then some little weird stuff in here something for sushi stuff but i'm going to show you later why i got this one right i'm thinking to this one with the kind of combination with this almond oil to do something okay all right um tossed sesame seed maybe i just needed as much okay maybe more so no oil of course just no just tossing but you need to be careful don't burn off all right you just wanted to see just keep the motion down yeah yeah just keep it a motion what heat level do you put oh it's all the way high high yeah because i don't want to put that all the way down like that okay just keeping the distance okay now start the changing color right so now you need to really attention don't don't burn out okay that's it okay then just put it back to here and making cooling down yes nicely nice today i don't have a makisu well they don't have it at walmart yeah so in states i'm thinking to i'm not sure i'm not sure is it the rocks or not so i'm going to use this one yeah because the way i put this one this one in the folding just stay yeah right so that's why okay i'm gonna use the right this one all right good luck okay so this side is actually kind of open but it should be okay yeah maybe you can you can put some other quality on the tapes no piece of tape but it's okay so uh half of a sheet so i'm gonna cut into the half and first one i'm gonna make cucumber roll open up cut off the edge one side so you just cut off here and then you can cut into the half how's the rice come on this is okay yeah it's okay for a rice cooker definitely but you can't find one this is what you got to do yeah and i remember this is one of the very early sushi rolls i used to eat before i was eating sushi at all from a cucumber sushi cucumber yeah capril then eventually california roll then teca roll yeah very simple one yeah very simple back back in the day man there wasn't many choices you get a jb roll it's so limited that was like the most special you'd have to put tomoki so you're going to do the seaweed on the outside right or the cap yeah outside going to make yeah so if you're new to sushi this would be probably the first thing you should try and see what you think of it let's see if your maki who's going to hold up hero yeah hopefully so far so good it looks like i always using the marquis for the this edge to here yeah so it's a little bit different so hopefully going well okay that's okay this is holding in parts i'm gonna put that here okay right club stick it's open which has no crab in it that's a funny part yeah this is a fishy cake fish but uh alaska a good okay and then avocado let's make sure everything drives yeah looks good yeah looks perfect grab a stick avocado and then if you are not the cucumber yes please add it if you don't like your i don't like cube covering my california cucumber right we talked about this before yeah yeah first of all let's talk about this a lot of people use florida avocado because it's cheap but it's got no taste it's very watery and california's never had cucumber in it back in the day and people started adding it just to fill it up okay yourself okay a little bit easier to roll right this time yeah inside out is kind of more easy easier you know so there you go hero you made it happen first you show all the ingredients what to buy at walmart and then second how to make it from walmart one more time hero one's at 71 corvette you see the red one out there he said have a before it'll be pretty cool actually not bad hero i like it and let me point something out look how hero has this cucumber right in the center of the rice a lot of times when you see people making a tuna roll or something everything's at the very very edge it doesn't close well because they put too much rice or maybe they don't know how to roll it that well or make sure it's always in the center all right california roll here goes that's such a great taste it's california roll and you guys have to have the toasted sesame seeds and believe it or not makes all the difference this is actually very very good hero what a classic taste california roll and um you guys can do it at home sushi it's always simple
