Surprising our CEO with his DREAM car build! (2020 BMW M340i X-drive)

what is up guys and welcome back to the throttle youtube channel my name is evan and today's episode is going to be very very special so a couple days ago i told rick that i needed to borrow his m340i because i had to haul around some stuff i've got the gtr now it is a very small car and rick's got the nice sedan now you guys might have seen that car on the channel a couple times we did a tune uh we did an exhaust on it and in today's episode we're going to be surprising rick with a ton of parts i know he has been browsing online for a long time looking for kind of the next mod and we're actually going to be surprising him let's get inside let me show you all the parts that we've got for rick's car tomorrow morning he's going to come and pick up the car and we're going to surprise him it's going to be awesome all right so here it is rick's m340i and these are all the parts that we're going to be installing today decided to go with the ff11s from hre these are beautiful this is a new flow form design and i love the finish on this really really awesome falcon of zenith fk 510s h r lowering springs a new front grille i'll show you guys that in a second because the factory grille on this car is hideous this makes it look super cool way more modern with a double slat like the m and then we've got a beautiful piece here from even tree so i installed an even cherry intake on the m2 a couple months back as soon as i knew they made an intake for this car this was the one we definitely had to get so beautiful beautiful carbon fiber work inside and out i love the heat shielding with the gold foil tape just overall just a really really beautiful looking car part of course you have a nice cone air filter it's going to be the ultimate dad mobile after this [Music] all right so what you guys just saw me install was the carly device and i wanted to show you guys this software we've used this quite a bit around the shop here on the previous e92 i've also used on my e46 as well and this software combined with that obd2 dongle allows you to diagnose health of your engine and of your entire car actually for that matter so if you have a check engine light on you can go ahead and run a complete scan it's going to run through all the different ecu's on your car check for issues and it's going to tell you what's wrong with the car the other thing you can do with the car load device is doing some customized coding so that's pretty cool if you want to change like colors of lights or when the doors lock automatically or when the mirrors fold a ton of really cool different things you can do with headlights and taillights and all that stuff you can do with the carly device i wanted to show you the live data that's pretty awesome you can put in some different parameters here like rpm voltage actually you can pretty much put in anything that the ecu can output which is pretty cool and you can start a digital output [Music] put on the dashboard you even have gauges today's video now let's get back to it [Music] hmm it is active they're on little louvers and they open and close as needed i guess it's pretty cool it's better than the uh the new g80 front grill so the factory grille comes with this like sateen i don't know and the problem with this finish is actually it gets water spotted really bad and oxidizes really bad so i think a really common upgrade for the g20 platform is gonna be to get away from this this finish so we're gonna upgrade this a little bit more sporty look i think in our opinion it still houses our front camera and mounts with all the same tabs as the factory grille this is a really nice piece and with all the other black and carbon bits on the car i think it's really going to tie everything together nicely we do actually have 10 platform as the mark v supra and the z4 and a couple other cars i believe as well i'm just doing this for fun something to do super easy so swap out this one i took a rough estimate with my eyeball and it looks like they're pretty much the same this one belongs to tj so it's a little dirty because it's been sitting on the floor for a while as i thought now i'll have one working on this because it's a toyota i'm gonna go ahead and leave this on here as i'm working on the car and see if anybody notices i'm gonna hide the other one so they don't see it sitting to the side i'm gonna start installing this eventuri intake which is absolutely beautiful carbon airbox [Music] you're kidding me right let's go now what do you think what'd you do the grill so far just i don't remember what it looked like to the beginning yeah tj doesn't know anything about b-58s we're good maybe you should come install this air intake then cheers brother oh you guys are lost it up bro most brothers over here wait did you guys just put that cover on as a joke is this that's really what are you talking about nice meme for a second i actually thought that that was the cover that came in this that is what came out no that's why i'm sitting over there you think i just have one laying around yes mine it's over there i don't know maybe rick did it no that's how they come this is the same the same motor are the same though same thing yo you almost got me i was really confused i was like wait what so it's exact the same the motors are a little different i wish i knew how to pull this connector off yeah yeah we'll do it though show me how you do it you're doing exactly what i was doing oh yeah right out seems to be a little bit stuck yeah weird yeah i guess things are a little bit different huh one eternity later there it is oh could [Music] [Applause] or valve cover cover valve cover cover it fit that's sick that'd be kind of a funny joke to play on somebody put the super one on there on the supra because it is a bmw mdm sport novel idea [Applause] i like it dude i didn't even see that i know it was a long time i was like trying to lead a horse to [Music] water [Music] so this this is going to plug into the factory location and i like how they've already added a little rubber bushing on here to seal it around the factory pipe and then this is going to reach down into the factory uh wheel well location this is something i would have done anyway but it's cool that it comes with this already sort of heat shield with the foil tape [Music] so we're gonna do the springs wheels and tires next so we gotta get to the strut top so we'll leave this up probably remove our gear wrench light we won't be needing that up here anymore and move that to the bottom [Music] what's that this little motorsport hardware these were actually for evan's m2 but he sold it this would be a nice upgrade just to make sure it fits boom shotgun damn solid so these are motorsport hardware stud conversion kit what's cool is it'll convert this thing to a bolt to a stud and then we also have the motorsport hardware we also have their lug nut kit here [Music] do [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right well with a little bit of help from ricky who knocked out the rear springs while i was wrestling with the front we were able to get this thing on the ground got the new hres and falcon tires on her and uh just buttoning up the basically all the covers and stuff in the engine that you have to undo to uh to get to the shop tops all right it is the next day talked to mickey and ricky last night they finished up the suspension wheels tires the motorsport hardware studs the front grille and now i'm looking at the car for the first time and man this thing transformed it looks so good i love the front grille fitment is just freaking nice look at that i think hre always nails the fitment it's literally perfect and the ride height is good you know it's good for a daily driver it's not 100 slam by any means but i think the next thing and probably the last thing we're going to finish right now is getting rid of the fishbowl so rick's been riding around with no tint on the windows and of course we're gonna pay our boys a visit over at tint world miramar scott and jay support plus all right so i just dropped the car off with jay they're gonna take care of her but man look at this thing i mean just look at it yeah i mean just get a look at that turned out so good i love the color too now you can actually see how sick the brake calipers are massive brakes say bye bye to fishbowl so the tint that we've been using with scott and j here is called flex film nano flex uh we're going with the 20 all around when you're in the car yesterday it shows off the massive breaks yeah they're perfect for this car you finally swapped the grill out we put the black grill in that's been sitting in the shop damn really tied the friend together and then we took the car off to tim world of miramar got the window spinner which does not even look like the same car yeah it's awesome you're gonna love those fk 510 tires they're gonna ride like a dream they're gonna last a while oh you changed the hardware out too oh yeah forgot about that is that those are motorsport hardware stud conversions and also their lug nuts so when you're taking your wheels off and on they won't fall on the floor anymore wow dude you guys are awesome i didn't really drop on your wheels love no love bro [Music] it's a good thing we're putting hres just
