Hello! So let's get straight to the point. This room is the room of my house where I need to make the most improvements and the one that we really haven't done much to. We've lived in this house for like three years now I think and we have done work on most of the house except for this room. I've always had big plans for the sunroom but I just never really spent the time to get everything put together. So that's what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna spend the next week fixing up this damn room. Now you may be thinking, "Wow, it looks great, it looks so elegant but that I can assure you is just a trick of a good camera angle, cuz when I zoom it out it is a garbage dump in here. Quite literally there are garbage bags Like I said this room is just so neglected and we just put shit in here Right? My inspiration and my main goal for this room is to turn it into a sort of jungle treehouse Swiss Family Robinson kind of vibe Minus the small child who insists on befriending every single wild animal for some reason the family's okay with it So my plan. Now unfortunately right now is not the best time to do a room remodel, especially one where you need new furniture to replace the old furniture. Normally I would just run to Target or run to a thrift store to get items that would work for my theme but that is not an option right now What I've done is I have ordered a few things online. Hopefully they come in time, shipping times are also just very unexpected right now. We do have some furniture like this chest and such that I have collected over the past year or so in plans for making this room over. For now and I think my first plan is to just clean this room like there's just so much crap in here and then you can barely even walk and it's just - I've had it up to here So I quickly sketched up this, quite obviously is kind of hard to tell what's going on to anyone besides me the Victorian love seat and as the coffee table I'm going to use the dressing trunk that I have. Originally I wanted to find kind of a Papasan loveseat papasan.. pap.. pop.. papo-gigio but those are kind of really hard to find right now so I don't think that's actually gonna happen. For the flooring hopefully get rid of this carpet do some wood vinyling myself. As far as the ceiling fan there is a really really cute tree house rustic looking ceiling lights slash fan at one of the home improvement stores around us I think I'll set up a sort of a pickup order for everything that I need from there I'm hoping to get a lot of hanging plants and just PLANTS IN GENERAL I want this to look like this meme that I came across on Facebook the other day Ordered a bookcase to go here and a fake gramophone General idea, general vision it's gonna be nice to actually have a usable room that we don't have to hide away from every guest that comes over our house First things first I need to clean... this bitch Cuz it's gross in here and it smells bad... Okay, so what I'm doing today is flooring I have no idea what I'm doing This laminate planking that it's supposed to just kind of like hook into each other, I watched a few videos on it so that means that I'm an expert I actually have a lot to do before I can even start doing that, I have to move everything I think what I'm gonna do is do the room half in half so that I don't have to clear out the whole room You gonna help me? Let's get started Okay so Nick convinced me what I was doing was silly So what we're gonna try to do is empty this whole room first so that I have a complete empty room to do the flooring because otherwise the vinyl floor would be loose in certain areas and it just wouldn't be great I'm just gonna sit here and kind of talk about the process just because I don't want this to all to be voiceover So initially when we were doing this we were just using the boards as they were but then we started to realize after the first couple rows, the seam was in the same spot and it looked kind of bad so we decided to cut the boards in different places so that on each row we could start with a different length of plank so that the seams ended up falling in different places in each row If that makes any sense Towards the end, had to measure, mark, bring it down to our little saw setup saw it, bring it back, hammer in place, next row so I think that's probably what took the most time was measuring and figuring out where the end pieces were gonna go Other than that it wasn't too bad I think it took us three to four hours in total I say" us" very liberally here... it was mostly Nick I'm not a very helpful but I was there for moral support Why did I do that? But yeah, I think it came out pretty darn good There's a little part where we have like a little sliver of empty space because we didn't really know how to fix that so Nick did end up going out and buying kind of trim to put around the entire room Wow.. I feel like the longer this process goes on the more I'm just gonna look like the ALIENS guy So yes! We finished the flooring yesterday last night So much better in here it's very echoey as you can tell Aaaaaalllrightyy theeeeeeeen Really? So today's plan, I am going to clean a little bit more Gonna take the magic eraser to a lot of this because a lot of it is kind of dingy Clean the windowsills and such and then I think I'm going to start moving some of the furniture back in here It is such an exciting prospect that I will be able to actually use this room and hopefully it won't be so ECHOEY I can do my favorite voice without actually adding uh, echo in post FAVORITE VOICE *echo* It's kind of hard to tell what its gonna look like right now just because obviously it's an empty room doesn't have a lot of personality right now but I'm hoping once I start adding all the furniture that it will start to resemble what I'm picturing but you know we won't know that until we start populating this room You, and me, and Mr. Clean get down to business MISTER CLEAN *echo* So this day was mostly filled with decorating the room and moving everything that we moved out of the room, back into the room Like I said it's kind of a weird time to put together a room right now so some of the furniture I did order online so some of this day was putting that together like this reproduction gramophone that I got It is super cheap not the best quality but I just kind of needed it for **aesthetic** purposes The actual cone itself came dented so I did my best to kind of wobble it back into place it's still very denty, pffftt it's fine From far away it looks fine, and this is just kind of a placeholder for maybe in the future when I decide that I want to spend money on a real one I had read reviews that it actually worked with the little shellac record that was included with it so I gave it a try, it has like mechanisms on the inside and you kind of crank it and at first it wasn't working and then it started working, which was surprising and pretty cool to think that it's just basically a big ol music box So the first side of the record's really really cute instrumental song *Really cute instrumental song* and then I flipped it around *Terrifying laughing* I think I might be cursed Good morning! Quite obviously, progress has been made Today I think mostly it's just gonna be finishing touches for example the wicker chairs that I got They included these pillows and so I will probably be making my own pillowcases out of scrap fabric because these are lovely but don't quite go with the theme that I have in mind here Gonna try to make a curtain rod out of a wooden dowel that I have lying around from when I did my Joan of Arc look Literally still sitting in my basement with the flag on it Don't think I'm gonna march into battle anytime soon so I think it's safe to say I can use that for a curtain rod A nd then as far as the actual curtain I think I'm gonna use my left over tobacco cloth because I think that it has like a nice, easy breezy beautiful kind of vibe I set up a pickup order for some lights to go around here so I have to go pick those up Excuse me? So to make the pillowcases I took some scrap fabric that I have lying around from downstairs you may recognize it from my Coraline video Very quickly I just kind of measured out the existing pillowcase on the fabric that I wanted to transfer it to, cut out two pieces Put them back to back, sewed around leaving a hole enough space to turn it inside out turned it inside out, put the pillow in and then hand-sewed the opening shut Not sure if this is correct procedure with pillowcases obviously it would make more sense to leave an opening that you can slide the pillow in and out but - I think that's about all the explaining I need to do so I think now it is time for the reveal So here is the "Cribs" version of my sunroom Welcome to my crib okay The sunroom! Come on in Start over here this little corner used to be the trash and recycling corner now upgraded to: "Get Trashed Corner" *pause for laughter* This feels a little empty to me but I'm gonna leave it be so it doesn't get too crowded in here cuz I have a tendency to do that when in doubt, add more things This little bookcase full of different little knickknacks some that me and Nick bought and then some that were my grandmother's like this stuff that's my great-grandmother in the picture This is one of my majesty palms the other one is over there that is Majesty it is very very clever of me but you know I figured I would name it like like a house cat and so this is Duchess And then underneath get on in there cameraman Is a terrarium that I made and used for our wedding so it's kind of like a little hidden easter egg This is some plant I don't recall the name of but I'm pretty sure it's not very easy to kill which is good for me Some more plants that's Majesty she's not doing too great right now She's a little crispy I'm gonna pretend like that's not my fault and it's Massachusetts' fault for being 40 degrees at night in springtime And then this trunk that we picked up at an antique store These wicker chairs that I picked up and also the pillow cases that I made Dressing trunk that we also picked up at an antique store it still says the name on it, Mildred And initials are very relatable "Meh" This obviously you have probably seen in some of my other videos but it is my prized possession Glorious and Elegant Nick actually set this up the first time and I liked it, it's like you know an old like washing area You know you just got done exploring the jungle so you come in here and wash up I don't know Why am I out of breath?? I just printed this out yesterday it's kind of like my own little nod to Disneyland because if you go to Disneyland, the Gibson Girl ice cream boutique has this same picture I believe hanging in their window so it's kind of like a little nod to that And then... LIGHTS Which look kind of ugly during the day but I swear at night they look pretty The amazing Nick installed this baby Whoa oh you did that That's it! I was gonna do my exit "Crib" line "I didn't watch Cribs so I don't.." What?? You don't have to go home but you gotta get the hell out of here Eh? right? That's it! So happy to have this room actually usable because like I said for the longest time this had such wasted potential where we just didn't go in here and even on really nice days it was like we wanted to come in here and have coffee in the morning or come in here at night and have dinner, but we just didn't because it wasn't nice and it was stressful just even look at it So most of time we just kept those blinds shut A lot of you may know that this was my grandmother's house so it means a lot to me to come back here and hang out here because I have some fond memories of playing out here when I was little sitting in the kid's table at holidays Oh it's so nice It's pretty much what I pictured I think my initial plan was I wanted to paint this room like a Victorian color I think a Victorian parlor or green house would definitely be a darker color than this and then let the light do its job but Nick wasn't a huge fan of that idea and then the more I thought about it the more I realized it was probably a bad idea I'm not actually sure how I would paint windowsills We just left it white for now anyways we might go in and add some ceiling panels that are wood later but we will see I know I don't usually do a lot of house renovation videos just because it's been such a process but this was a lot easier for me to compartmentalize and just focus on one room That's it I hope that you guys like watching and I love you whether you're new or old to this channel if you're new here and you feel like sticking around feel free to subscribe I upload every Friday and we have fun here And I will see you in my next video, byeeee we lived in this house whoa Wow Wonderful Oh... feathers I feel like my mouth is moving weird what is...conversation so it really means -
