harvest getting to see all the tractors come in this morning but even more than that i'm so thankful for how god met with us in our services inside and out i'm just so thankful that god isn't done working yet and i'm just so excited for what god has for us tonight if you would bow your heads as we open our service in prayer heavenly father we're so thankful to be in your house tonight lord i pray that you peace be glorified and praised through our worship tonight and may all of us leave here growing spiritually in our relationship with you may you be blessed and in jesus name we pray amen [Music] so [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Music] praise the lord we can have victory in our heart and our life because of his blood what he did on calvary praise the god it was sufficient for me for you for the whole world praised his name this morning this evening perhaps someone would have a praise of praise in your heart this evening would somebody have a praise in your heart something well i'm thankful for the victory that jesus gives you know there's a lot of things in life that are scary especially in my own life you know i just graduated college and i'm kind of out on my own and sometimes it feels like i'm just a day late and a dollar short but i'm so glad that um jesus can give us this confidence and the strength to make it through each and every day you know i'm just thinking today before church i was just praying and god showed me that there was fear in my heart fear of the future fear of what might happen but i'm so glad that god has the future in his hands and has tomorrow in this meeting you can trust him with that um it's just like joshua and caleb you know they said you know we can make it we can do it we just have to put our faith in god and go ahead and get into the promised land and that's what i want to do i don't want to have any reservations in my faith in god but i want to put everything i have to take all i have on on god and just follow after him and just have trust just trust him that that tomorrow will be good because god is good um whatever happens god can use it and you can and he can make it worth something praise god amen fear not tomorrow god is already there i praise god time is not a not a i remember the day i saw the lord and he covered my sins to be remembered no more i praise him tonight amen praise god time is not an around the altar and if you just started today hallelujah if you've been walking with god a long time what a wonderful experience it is what a wonderful life to live serving jesus so thankful that we to the lord in prayer remembering the requests of the morning and also praying for families who are grieving there's been a death in the walter family a family young man passed away family to john walter and keith walter let's remember this family that grieves and then let's do remember our outreach here at the church we were so happy this morning with uh how well just so thankful for you who just made it all happen and so many of you invited and it was very clear about that and and just do that we have guests again tonight and uh just keep going throughout this month and i'd really really i know we have a goal of 350 but i'd love to see us hit 500 on a sunday morning just us you know we could call the mormon tabernacle choir or something but it'd be neat if it could we could just do it on our own you know well we're not going to call the mormon tabernacle choir i mean of course not but i'm just saying on our own if we could get to 500 and uh and let's see what god would have in store appreciated the spirit and the service the altar service and we just give god praise we do want to remember uh great britain today tomorrow the funeral of queen elizabeth and um we want to pray for um every need that may be represented here tonight let's pray for this service it's a special emphasis with our youth and we want to pray for our young people that god will keep them strong and keep them on fire for god if you're physically able let's kneel for prayer in heaven we do bow in thy presence tonight we thank you for the goodness of god the privilege to be a christian we thank you lord that you're on the throne we thank you lord that you've been helping us throughout this lord's day we just can't thank you enough tonight we are praying for our world we pray for the uh united kingdom and the royal family at the passing of queen elizabeth and the funeral that shall take place we pray for our own nation in such need of prayer we pray lord that we remember our families who are grieving we think of the walter family the coons family and others the redmond family and lord comfort in this time of loss we pray you remember our church we thank you for those who are out this morning and again a great number tonight and throughout this harvest time outreach may souls be one into the kingdom in this time will also be our church revival and we're praying that you'll help brother loper as he preaches and brother and sister cope as they sing and we ask lord that you would meet definite needs during this revival meeting we are praying for our online church family that uh listen in many many services would you be near to them and encourage them tonight we pray that you would remember uh each of our missionaries and those from our congregation who serve around the world in ministry we pray for our school tonight and our conference and we pray lord that you would be near to um every every need that might be represented we do lift to the our physical needs we think of our shut-ins those who are facing ongoing physical battles we pray for gary norman there in rehab for steve whitmer that you'll give him continue recovery elena snook likewise be near to joanne schaefer ruth hackenberg in the hospital we pray lord remember bill loss facing procedure tomorrow lord you're able for every one of these needs we pray a special blessing on our young people even in this service tonight help brother going as he speaks and lord make this evening special with your presence in a continued way we ask it in jesus name amen at this time i'd like all those young people in the crossroads youth to come up and to sing for our youth choir song one of the unique privileges we've had for the last couple weeks is josiah dare he's of course in pen view and he's doing such a wonderful job and one of his classes he has to direct a choir and so he came up to me a few weeks ago and said would you mind if i could direct a choir maybe with the youth and i looked in my calendar and i'm looking i say well look at that we've got a youth sunday coming up absolutely you can take charge of that so we're just so excited that josiah has been with us these past few weeks it's been a wonderful time and i ask that you just continue to worship with us as we sing in song is the lord he is faithful and true [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] the lord is [Music] he proves he is what today has been like for us of course as we've mentioned it's the first day of harvest and wonderful things are happening and i believe that uh pastor ryan has something for us tonight oh yes we have some information uh to share we might as well have all all you pastor going pastor plank and pastor schaefer skipped out on us tonight but you might as well come up and join us too and if nothing else you could sit in one of these rockers up here that way they're just not sitting here but i believe we have we have some news that someone's going to be bringing us this evening i noticed a couple people um well one's one specific one specific person one specific person brought their tractor this evening but i think there's another tractor that might be here tonight um i don't know oh yes yes here it comes here it comes now oh look at this little fella give him a round of applause as he makes his way in oh yes this is my friend preston and he's doing a great job driving that massey ferguson i i even counted that as points this morning because he brought that all the way to church he took it home with him and then he brought it back tonight but a pastor going if you wouldn't mind he's got a special delivery for him yes he's delivering the points and then if you wouldn't mind to turn him back around and then he can make his way back out we really appreciate it preston my experience in my experience the batteries don't work with dead mite no it looks good oh yes in my experience it'll be harder for him to pedal back up probably maybe pastor going could give him a little push if he needs it oh no he's good look at that he's good no problem oh that's great thank you so much preston and his parents for helping us out this evening oh that is just wonderful he could he could get in probably one of those pedal tractor pulls i bet he'd do pretty good if you don't yeah appreciate that thank you very much pastor going um now as you know pastor flank we did um we are we were on the same team kind of like we're wearing the same suit tonight literally exact same right do you want to trade ties no i don't wear things that bright how about socks you want to trade socks no okay good oh mercy okay um we have a rule against that in our pastoral team those kind of sucks whatever that is i'm just now finding out okay um we were talking about all the points the points pastor be careful careful um we put you on a yes so all of us pastors um we see we have four teams barley ryan i even know what team you put me on well you actually agreed to join team barley you don't remember that i know you're getting okay um so i'm on the first team right you're all i assume they're winning today well well we're gonna find out here and um let's see here team what was that again barley you know you're not doing too bad elijah you have 10 000 points team barley you brought seven guests today and you brought six tractors today that's pretty we don't mess around okay then we have team rye and that would be let's see that would be pastor going team rye and you have 6 100 points you bought five guests today and you brought two tractors so we appreciate that um and then pastor schaefer you are on team wheat um and that you have 5500 points and you brought two guests today and you brought you brought um seven yes you brought seven tractors that's pretty good i think the russians hacked the system okay and then um i am on team oates and um um well i just i felt bad but we have 14 500 points and um yes we also brought eight guests today and we brought 13 tractors that's pretty good not bad for letters last name l through r brother wright key really helped us out he brought three and uh that was wonderful and so that's kind of where we're at and don't forget there's several different ways that you can get involved you can give money to the bus fund um i've got a hundred dollars given to the bus i don't think that got entered in here so we'll have to get that to where it goes to yeah yeah somebody with the last name of c that would be are you sure yes that would be in the i thought it was someone that would be right there team barley oh that's my team okay well it is your team that's true um some other ways you can get involved is right bringing guests is the largest thing that's a thousand points for doing so and um so a lot of you got a lot of points today because of that shares you can facebook share that's just for people who are not even here that's true our church online you could have shared the service last um sunday night while you're everybody whose last name begins with a through f please share this service as soon as it comes back to normal but it's when it's it's during the service it's only writing the service it's not later right it's while the service is happening my team makes up rules as they go yeah like i said the russians um that's the part we were worried about yes now we're looking for this special day right next sunday is friend and neighbor day um we will ask for a show of hands of how many of you are already inviting for next sunday hopefully you're thinking of a friend or a neighbor you all you have to do is walk across the street um maybe you would have to go a little bit down the road to find a neighbor pastor plank some you know depending on where your house is i just have to go across the street and i'm hoping to bring some neighbors next sunday for a friend of neighbor day and we're also something else is happening for lunch i believe for lunch really yeah i'll just go ahead and share them um for lunch next sunday we're all getting together there's actually some sign up sheets at the welcome desk um and if you are interested in bringing anything you could stop there sign up i'm sure the pastor's lives would be very appreciative of this my wife the last time we had a gathering she was really worked up because she went over it's true we were meeting after church we had asked everybody to bring something that's coming and she goes over to the bay center and she calls me she says we just can't do this anymore people don't bring anything she said i thought that was just a terrible i mean i just knew our people were not gonna well here it was all in the cooler she never bothered to look people had brought stuff and they came through and you had a great time right so we're going to need our your help again this sunday we want we want it to be a situation where you can invite your neighbors you can invite your friends and say would you come to church with us we're going to have lunch together after the service and and we're trying to give you uh ways to invite people and everybody knows there's good food with this crew that's very true so do stop by and let us know what you can bring also let us know who is coming so that we know whether to plan on 100 people or 500 people right yeah um we also have children's day october the 2nd family day october the 9th youth day october the 16th revival sunday the 23rd and harvest home october the 30th and really you can invite people if it doesn't matter it doesn't have to be a friend or a neighbor next sunday if you have family that wants to come i noticed somebody today brought their neighbor today and that's great thank you for inviting them to come there are a couple of prizes that we're giving away as well um these two rockers are one of the prizes that you get to pick from and um i think um an apple watch i believe is in there and there's maybe one more gift as well and so make sure you're inviting and we're excited about this it's a fun way to have some competition but really the most important part is experiencing god's presence and for souls getting saved just like happened this uh this morning we had a lady that was here for the very first time and god met with her and she got saved this morning and that's why we do these events so thank you for your participation and we're looking forward to um the rest of this you have uh appointed some help back there in the foyer i think you ought to have them stand oh yes yes uh brother and sister dunn would you please stand for us these are our official uh what do you want to say what they are secretaries for the harvest time service time they're doing a great job and while we're there thank you very much um while we're there if you bring a guest with you um sometimes so many of us come in at once if you bring a guest please stop over at the little um the little booth there in the foyer and make sure you get your guests signed in we also have a special just a little welcome bag for them with a little some goodies and stuff in there so if you can do that we sure would appreciate it all right brother cameron this is your very first bus and outreach uh month and uh what do you think about it are you enjoying yourself oh i'm loving it i'm absolutely loving it i'll tell you what one thing that i was thinking is you know for many of us going out and knocking on doors and asking people to come to church it's kind of intimidating i mean it really is if we're just going to be honest but this morning i was reminded you know what we're inviting people to one of the best things that they could ever be at a place where they can hear the gospel of jesus christ we're asking them to come to a service that's alive you know something beaver town doesn't do dead services they don't do it and i'm just so excited to bring my friends and my neighbors next week i know i'm inviting them to something good and you are too so i do hope that you uh are taking this to heart i hope that you bring some neighbors some friends along for a sunday church tomorrow or not tomorrow you could what i wanted to say this morning but this morning god was here in such a special way i didn't want to insert too many things like this but uh i wanted to say now we don't sell anything on sunday but you take a look at what's out there and the auction sale will be tomorrow to pay off our our church indebtedness we'll have a tractor sale tomorrow but i didn't say it because i was just so happy everybody brought their tractors and we're not one of them to sell them yeah even how long did it take you to get here pastor schaefer about 40 minutes 40 minutes anybody uh brother gandhi how long did it take you to get here this morning oh my anybody tractor caught fire on the way home oh my god are you serious it's here brother i'm so sorry oh that's terrible oh we that was a secret i'm sorry i'm sorry brother it's all good though it's all good meaning like it's it's still in one piece or it's out oh it's out the fire was out okay brother uh going we appreciate the fact that you're optimistic means a lot someone needs to be an optimist yes it's rougher now i'd like to have brother schaefer's take on things just to balance it out well we only had 457 this morning excited no i was yeah i was there were tractors here of course i was excited no i was happy for all the people it's good god wants to help us and let's do our part through this week uh invite somebody and maybe invite several somebodies and and see what god can do and then be praying for the services because we don't want them to get here and it's a dead service and you can help us with that by raising your hand by testifying by singing in the song service instead of playing candy crush on your phone and a whole host of other things we can do to make the services what they need to be so that when they come here it's a place they want to come back it's one thing to get them here once but we want them to come back and say hey there was something about those people and there's something good about those services you see what i mean okay well the balance is real folks and i'm caught in the middle but they're all good men they're doing a great job and i'm thankful thank you for all your hard work and thank you to our congregation our ushers are gathering together to take the evening ties and offerings we do have a few announcements and i forgot my bulletin back there but of course we do want to be aware that our revival is coming up soon it's october what'd you look at that that's why i bring him up here i can't keep it together but he can october through the 23rd be there or be square you know i know i'm actually very excited um rodney loper is coming to hold the revival the cope family is singing so i'm looking forward to those times of course october 5 through 7th as men arise and so i know many of our men have signed up to go to that we just want to be sure that we're praying for them as they leave and uh as well as special announcements for the youth we do have our youth night this friday night from 6 to 10 at the penn view gym the m m building so do be making plans young people to be there we're excited for uh having another gym night we haven't had one in a while and so i'm excited for that i believe our ushers [Music] returning clouds of glory saints of every race be holy says [Music] what a lovely [Music] name the name of jesus reaching higher [Music] what a lovely name let the world proclaim what a lovely name [Music] well that was so good thank you so much guys for that special singing my goodness when landon started out with that base i was like oh my goodness i can't sing that low that's good we've got a future praise singer in our midst well it's not often that you can take a step back from your life look at the circumstances in your world and realize that you're truly witnessing history september 8th will always be a day that lives on in many people's minds all over the world as it will forever be marked as the day that the longest reigning british monarch in history died queen elizabeth of course lived a long life wholly dedicated to service to her country with the rain spanning generations she served alongside british greats with the likes of winston churchill and margaret thatcher and as we look back on her life we see that she did her very best to serve her people with utmost sincerity she ushered her country into the 21st century her coronation was the first ever to be televised in history she served as encouragement during economic highs and lows and as the elected government of the uk would go through tumultuous times of heated disagreement as the country would become polarized over various issues like we're all too aware can happen the queen served as a constant reminder of the unity that could be had by all when i look at some of the things she did she visited hospitals gave public speeches she offered counsel to those who would listen if you ask me i think she might have made a good pastor but she helped guide her country all throughout her life and this was no mistake you see at the age of just 21 years old she made a vow for the whole world to see and to hear that her singular purpose in life would be to serve her country and to serve her people she lived fully so that she wouldn't waste her life friends the fact of the matter tonight is that if you don't want to waste your life you're going to have to do a lot more than just serve your country you see it doesn't matter how many statues have been erected in your honor how much money you've accumulated or accolades that's been given or how many people look up to you for leadership jesus gave us a very specific command if we're not to waste our life if you have your bibles with me i'd invite you to turn to matthew chapter 16. matthew chapter 16 we'll be starting starting our reading at verse 24. matthew chapter 16 verse 24 and we will be reading down to verse 28. and then said jesus unto his disciples if any man will come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me for whosoever will save his life shall lose it and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it for what is a man profited if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul for the son of man shall come in the glory of his father with his angels and then he shall reward every man according to his works verily i say unto you there be some standing here which shall shall not taste death till they see the son of man coming in his kingdom our texts find us right in the middle of jesus's ministry and things are quite honestly going very well the disciples have now been chosen and they're witnessing miracles and movements of god like that's never been seen before jesus has healed the sick he's caused the blind to see he's cast out demons preached before multitudes he's fed crowds of over 4 000 people not once but twice it's his following is growing and wherever wherever he goes it seems like people are always hungry and anxious to see what will this jesus do next there's a buzz permeating throughout israel anxious for jesus to enter their town the only people who don't seem to be excited for jesus are the sadducees and pharisees who feel threatened by his presence every chance they get they come to jesus with a question that they think is more confusing than the last but every single time he turns their questions up on their head exposing them for what they really are just before this passage jesus asks his very own disciples he asked him this who they really think he is and of course peter ever the loud one pipes up and recognizes jesus as the true messiah god in flesh emmanuel god with us and all the disciples rally behind that the disciples at this point are practically chomping at the bit waiting for jesus to gather his army deliver israel from under the boot of the roman empire and finally establish his earthly kingdom like all the prophecies said he would but at this point our lord does something peculiar during this rallying point where morale is at an all-time high jesus begins to throw a little bit of water on the disciples fire he starts talking about suffering and death and the disciples well truthfully they're getting a little bummed out because they're kind of banking on ruling with this guy i mean they're hoping that jesus has some special plans for them when he becomes king i mean if you read through the gospels you see them squabble over and over again on who's going to be on jesus's right hand side or who's going to be more important who will matter most whose life will be most valued but jesus gives them this one commission he says if any man will come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me you see the disciples had grand ideas for what life was going to be like for them they were going to be kings they were going to be honored they were going to be rulers over the same people who had oppressed them for so many years before gone were the days of being poor gone were the days of being working class fishermen who everyone looked past as they talked to them this was finally going to be their time they were finally gonna mean something but this call from jesus was unsettling this idea of taking up one's cross is not the direction that the disciples wanted to go you see a lot of times we can look over that phrase that we take up our cross and follow him and we'll glaze over it but in reality that phrase has a component of death to it to put it in our terms jesus is basically saying that we must put ourselves on the firing line or that we must squeeze our necks through the noose or sit ourselves in the electric chair the 12 were all too familiar with this thought and it certainly wasn't inviting they're not looking to die a martyr's death they're looking to be kings you know what's funny is that we use this phrase all the time in our daily life we talk like this all the time you know maybe your commute to work is an hour away but you live where you live because you want your kids to go to a certain school or whatever the reason might be and you say this phrase well it's just my cross to bear or maybe uh i think of some of our young people as i've gotten to know them these last few months i've learned that a lot of our young people they work in retail i know i did when i was their age and uh sometimes when you're working in retail like they do you deal with all kinds of customers and some of those customers they act let's just say they act a little less than christ-like i think many of us have been in those situations we've seen how uh the screaming well the younger term would be the cairns no offense to all the cairns in the room but you have to deal with them and what is it it's just our cross to bear or you know maybe your wife is constantly actually let's skip that one you get my point we often speak of our crosses as actions that lightly inconvenience us but within the context of this passage jesus is talking about a radical self-denial that puts him first above everything else he's not talking about self-abuse he's not talking about punishing yourself because god wants you to deny yourself no what jesus is talking about here is priorities he's saying that every decision you make should be measured up to his holiness what are you consuming for entertainment would jesus approve no deny yourself what do you wear is it in line with what the bible teaches no deny yourself where do you go where do you do business where do you put your money this kind of self-denial is going to have a visible impact on the way you live your life your life should be marked by obedience to god this verse tells us that god requires obedience from us from start to finish there's no middle ground where we can do what we want if you want your life to count for something if you don't want to waste it then you're going to have to live for jesus and not for yourself first we see our commission to deny ourselves and to follow jesus but in verse 25 we start to see a shift in focus we go from our commission to the sounds of danger if we don't follow our call to follow him jesus warns us that if we try to save our life meaning to live for this world then we will ultimately lose it but those who are willing to be 100 in not 90 not 95 not even 99 in for jesus those who are 100 in for jesus even to the point of death will save it no one here is a permanent resident of earth every single person in this room is going to eventually face death so i ask you tonight what are you doing with your time here you know there have been hundreds perhaps thousands of kings all throughout earth's history men who have had everything at their fingertips the best food the best drink the best palaces i mean everything that they wanted and of course they commanded armies they were respected and revered everyone wanted to be friends with the king they wanted to be close and yet today if i were to ask you name all the kings that you know from history you could probably count on maybe one or two hands just how many you know most of these men who are once known by the entire world around them have been forgotten in the sands of time you know jesus isn't all at all surprised by this he said this in our passage for what is a man profited if you shall gain the whole world but lose his own soul you know if you and i were to take a trip tomorrow morning to new york city and if we walk down the streets down to 11 wall street and walk through the doors of the new york stock exchange you and i would see something that would just baffle us we would see a buzz of people like we've never seen before phones ringing lights blaring screens flashing with the latest news of all the companies that are going on in the world the billions and billions of dollars that funnel through that building is just absolutely incredible the people working there are some of the most shrewd cunning and highly trained businessmen to be found anywhere in the world their entire life is dedicated to figuring out where that next big break might be and where they and their clients can find their next fortune there are some who have made millions of dollars and now they live in some of the most lavish of homes drive the fastest of cars but i'd ask you what happens to all of that when they die young people i think specifically of you listen to me when i tell you this you're not going to care what kind of house you live in once you face eternity you won't care what car you drove or what kind of clothes you had in your closet none of it will matter you see when you die you will wake up in one of two places and all the possessions and that you've accumulated in this life will not matter friends you better make sure you know where you're going you don't want to be like the rich man found in luke chapter 16 who had everything he wanted in this life all the money a man could want but once he died he found himself in a devil's hell where he is burning and being tormented to this day what should it profit to gain the whole world but lose your own soul friends there's so much more to live for there is coming a day where each and every one of us is going to bow the knees to our bow our knees to the father a day where heaven and earth are passing away and the only thing that will matter is what you did with jesus i'm looking over really quite an incredible crowd full of people that i've come to love and greatly respect some of you are extremely blessed some great businesses some great jobs of course you've got your wonderful toys or whatever it might be and don't get me wrong i don't fault you for that one bit i hope god continues to bless you but i do want to say this i hope that's not what you're living for blessings from god they're not a curse but i do hope that's not what you're basing your foundation of your life on i hope that you're ultimately storing up treasures in heaven because there's coming a day where we will be rewarded for what we did with god and what he's given us i'd ask you have you used your blessings to advance god's kingdom have you used your talents and your time wisely i don't know about you but i don't want to be embarrassed in front of my lord when he asks me what i did for him and i have to say well not much i want to be able to say that i gave my everything to jesus no matter how big or small that everything might be and i'm certain that the reward of eternal peace of eternal comfort and whatever god has for us will truly be incredible i'm asking our musicians to come at this time when david livingstone the great african missionary when he died so many years ago he was so loved by the people of africa that before they shipped his body back the the people there the tribesmen actually cut out his heart and kept it in africa as they sent his body home to this day david livingstone's heart is and always will be in africa but when his body reached london they had a proper westminster abbey funeral there were thousands of people who gathered together and they lined the streets layers deep where the coffin was going to be driven in a carriage down to the abbey in that large crowd there were two men one rather shabbily dressed practically in rags and the other a minister standing just behind him and as the body of david livingstone passed by that shabbily dressed man kept saying you were right davey you were right davey oh you were right the minister after the procession went past he mustered up the courage and tapped that man on the shoulder and said what do you mean you were right davey you were right well the man looked at that minister dead in the eyes and he said this david livingstone and i grew up together we attended the same church we went to the same sunday school but when i was 18 years old i went to david and i said this to him davey i'm leaving the church i'm going back out and i'm going to make some money someday i'll come back someday i'll be a real christian but first i want to make my mark in the world i want to be important he told that minister that david livingstone looked at him again and said to him no there's no way to truly live outside of jesus christ you're making a terrible mistake and i said to him well we'll find out and i went my way all my life and now i understand david livingstone was right i don't want to waste my life with the temporal things of this world friends it's not worth it there are so many in this world who think we're silly for making an effort to live godly lives but folks it's the best way to live young people you have your whole life ahead of you make sure you don't waste it live it for god there might be some tonight who have wasted it to this point you've been living for yourself and you're finding it's not satisfying you're always looking for that next distraction whatever that might be [Music] make tonight your turning point you don't have to waste your life any longer if you would turn in your hymn books you're saying to the lord hymn books to song 486 [Music] we're going to sing the first few verses and of course the altar is always open but perhaps tonight you need to sing the song with extra fervor you need to look at these verses with meaning no doubt you all have sung this song dozens and dozens of times for altar calls all throughout your life but there's a reason these verses have truth in them there is a powerful truth in here that the best life to live is one that's completely surrendered to the lord make it your hearts cry make it your testimony i surrender all i surrender all all to thee my blessed savior i surrender all that is the mark of a who've come to the altar pastor schaefer i'd ask you to come and lead us in prayer i hope the cry of your heart is that you want to live for jesus to deny yourself to take up your cross and follow him it's the best life you'll ever live praise his name as many as would let's gather in for prayer and uh if you've still got a need or you still feel like you need to come come on and let's just have a good season of prayer at the conclusion of this service god's helping us and he's able to continue to help amen let's pray father in heaven we gather in your presence tonight and there's no question that you are here and that you are speaking to hearts we thank you for the message we thank you for this reminder of your call to take up our cross to surrender all this has been the message of the bible this has been the theme of true christianity through the centuries that it's not just a matter of of coming and giving some it's not just a matter of of coming and uh having a little uh prayer and and kind of going our way and just going on and living like we used to live we've known that's not right the world knows that that's not right the sinners know that's not right but lord we find in the scriptures what you've given to us that that you can save us from our sins and you can save us from sin and lord we're thankful that in that process there's a surrender and there's a giving of our all there's no question that in a crowd this size and a youth group this size that you're calling people to your work there's no question that you're dealing with hearts tonight about things in their lives there's things that shouldn't be they shouldn't be doing and you're directing them and maybe things they should be doing maybe it's a call maybe it's some other spiritual discipline or something in their life but lord you're you're asking them to to give in to say yes and lord the heart that really wants to know you it's it's willing to do that it's willing to say yes it's willing to say i surrender all and all means all there's no holdbacks there's no reservations there's no keeping some of it for myself and keeping some of it to myself but lord we pray that in each person's life who's gathered here and others who maybe are watching online or still in the congregation that you would help them to get to the point where they know that they have given every ounce of their will to you that they have surrendered those dreams and plans lord i remember what it was like in my own life i had it all planned out i knew what i wanted to do and what i didn't want to do and you stepped in and you redirected my path and i'm grateful for that but there comes a moment where we have to say yes to that new direction the direction that we find from you lord help each of our young people to to walk that path with courage help them to respond the devil is bidding high for their soul the devil is is telling them that if you give in to god you'll have you'll have no uh good relationships you'll have no enjoyment in life you'll you'll have nothing to show for it but the truth is that when we give all when we surrender all we when we seek first the kingdom of god and your righteousness all the other things are added to us and you you bless us abundantly more than we could ask your thing and we thank you for that i pray for each person at the altar tonight whatever it is they're praying about whatever issue they're facing i pray that they would give it to you and with an open hand release it to you and would you fill them would you help them would you guide them and lead them and direct them we're thankful for how you're working in our lives and in our church lord we're thankful that you're still speaking to hearts we believe that in this day and in this hour there's nothing that is needed more than than young people and kids and and middle-aged folks and and our senior saints who are just sold out to god and there's a clear message of victory we can't help what comes in life we can't help the twists and the turns of the road but we're determined to hang on for dear life because we know who we're riding with we know who is with us and and lord whatever life may bring we know that you are enough i pray that each of the people praying tonight would know that and i pray that you would work in their life give them your anointing and help meet every need it's
