I don't understand why school gets put on a pedestal by many.

To me it is simple. Grades are just a measurement of work completed. They do not represent in anyway who I am or what I am worth as a person. Do the work, get good grades.

Your degree is going to demonstrate to employers that you have the ability to get the work done.

That's the thing about these "great" people. They are over achievers that dedicate their lives to their work. If you aspire to grandeur, there is your answer. Get to work.
