hello guys here is a new video about substance painter and in this one I will paint height information to a low poly model here is the model in blunder on the right side you can see the UVS it's very low poly nothing special here and now I will export this as fbx and then import it into substance painter 2.6 call this panel fbx then I open substance painter press new and select the fpx I keep this to 2K resolution and direct X and press okay okay now let's switch here to the procedurals these are basically Alphas for that I can set parameters and I will use them to add height information to this panel first I create a group in the layer [Music] stack and then I will add a fit [Music] layer I use the default material and disable all the channels except the high Channel and now let me find a nice procedural Alpha for the inner part that's why I call this inner panel I will try this polygon but I will change some parameters for example the UV scale and it looks like this then I will invert this and in the end I'm playing here with this position parameter and this looks really cool all right but I want this to appear on the inner panel only so I'm creating a black mask then switch to the polyfill mode and then paint or fill White polygons here for the inner part of the panel very nice now let's create a second fill layer which is added to the group and again I will disable all the channels except the high Channel and choose a different procedural let's say this one here I move it to this height slot and change parameters till I'm happy with the results [Music] [Music] okay that looks nice and now I'll do the same as before I will create a black mask and then I will paint a white mask for the outer part of the panel okay we're done this is the height information that I wanted to add and now comes a part that is a bit tricky so I will explain this slowly I will select this group now that I added and Export this height information as a normal map first I change the group that I added to height here in the layer stack now I select export textures and choose normals when I export this now it will bake the height information that we added as a normal map this is the direct X normal map you can also if you like bake an openg normal map if you need this but I stick here to the direct X normal map press export and when I open the folder here is the normal map and I will add this normal map now to my project if you like you can set aack here but this is not really necessary what's important is to import it to your project mine has the name Untitled but anyway and now I will use this normal map that I exported here for my texture set and now I press bake textures and I select the world normal map the ambient occlusion the curvature and the position I set the resolution to 4K for these textures and then I press bake okay now all the textures that I will need are baked and they will be taken into account by the materials that I'm going to add you can disable this height information this height group in the layer stack now because we have our Bak textures that's all we need let me show the textures that we baked in the fewer settings I will switch to additional map and here is the normal map and here's the ambient [Music] occlusion now return to material and then I will add smart materials I want to add two plastic materials to the layer stack now let's search for plastic and this is the first one just drag it into the layer stack okay and look at this nice result but I will change the color of this smart material to a dark gray one yeah like that and again I will add a black mask and apply this material for the inner panel only that's the same technique that I used for painting in the height information set the inner polygons to white color then I change to Black again to remask the outer parts you could also press the X key to switch between white and black by the way great and now let's add a second black plastic material I think I will use the same one and just use a different [Music] color yeah this red tone looks quite nice and then I add again the black mask and in polygon mode fill all the parts here the outer parts with white color and we are done we turned this low poly model into a shiny nice panel and always keep in mind we didn't change any geometry here this is a totally low poly model and you can export the textures now for example to Unreal Engine or to Unity asbr textures my friends if this video was useful then please let me know like it and subscribe to my channel to be notified when new tutorials are available and If you could afford it please support me on my patreon thanks a lot for watching and I really hope you come back soon to jnm
