Students want Medicare for All...but won't donate their own money

[Music] this is addison smith with campus reform i'm at virginia tech today asking students what they think about healthcare is it a human right if so then they must support government-funded health care right well if they say yes then we're going to be asking them to contribute their fair share are they willing to do it let's see what they have to say first question do you believe that health care is a human right yes being human you have to get sick so why wouldn't we have health care to take care of that sickness yeah you do think it's a human right um yeah i do as well do you think health care is a human right yes it's not even a like debate do you believe health care is a human right i do of course yeah you know regardless of where you stand i think that everybody you know should at least be able to have you know resources and everything available to them so that they can be you know taken care of and be healthy so i feel like it um is like something that everyone should just be born with like it's a right that like we need as humans to stay like a powerful society i don't think it should be free but i think like everyone should deserve like some level of it i don't think anyone should have to die just because they can't afford health care so a lot of people in america today are you know calling for medicare for all government-funded health care for everybody uh do you support that idea yeah well would you guys support medicare for all government-funded healthcare yes i would yeah yeah i think i would too do you support in america medicare for all government funded medicare for all yes in order to have like a healthy working country with people that can actually go to school and work and live if you want a country and a state that has people that can actually like operate you need to have some form of health care do you think that that's something that we can afford uh i think it depends man i think you know obviously we have to be some adjustments how do you think we're gonna afford it i would like to say taxes but i mean i'm open to multiple different venues okay great so like donations and things like that we just have to increase taxes which is going to really make a lot of people upset everyone pitch in kind of get do their fair share yeah just kind of being like nice people we're actually going around today asking students if they have any money that they're willing to contribute to the medi to health care for all are you willing to give a few bucks i do not have any money besides my good old hokie p right now so do you have venmo i do not you don't have them cash out nope paypal you think it's a human right are you willing to pitch in a buck or two if i had a dollar i would give you a dollar so we're actually out here collecting donations from students to see if they can contribute to the gauze are you guys willing yeah sure didn't know if you had any money you'd be willing to contribute i would have i i got nothing on me man you got you got uh you got venmo i don't actually you don't no i don't yeah there's an atm nearby i think somewhere you want to go get a few bucks out i don't think i'm able to do that right now i mean it's a human right though it is though it is it would help someone be able to pay their bills yes you have you got venmo uh yeah oh i don't but i don't because you got a buck or two you can spare for the for the human rights only have card but you know if you had a venmo i'd give it to you i have a venmo you do we can do venmo yeah i have a dollar awesome i don't have any cash right twenty dollars that's a lot i don't know if i wanna i mean it is a human right though it is a human right but um do you have any money on you i have no money on me right now i'm sorry literally nothing zero you have venmo uh yeah i'll be honest i have no cash on me you got venmo i do actually we do take venmo thankfully do you have any money you're willing to give to help i don't carry cash can i send a dollar yeah dollar's fine i'm a broke college student that's okay that's a hug [Music] hey there my name is hannah catherine smith and i'm with campus reform to continue seeing videos like these be sure to subscribe here and if you're interested in becoming a member of the campus reform team as an investigator or a correspondent you can join the team here and if you'd like to help us continue making videos like these donate here
