so in 2024 I have a feeling we're going to start seeing a lot more clones of these core XY style Fast Printing 3D printers that we've seen grow in popularity since bamboo lab came on the scene by releasing their X1 Carbon the p1p and the p1s and I'm actually pretty excited to see what some of these brands do with their iterations of these core XY style of 3D printers however so far we already have a handful of brands that have made their own versions of these machines some the same build volume some larger some smaller however there are a few key things that I'm continuing to see that are driving me crazy that bamboo lab is even guilty of and the biggest one that I want to call out is these rear mounted spool holders for the love of everything stop mounting your spools on the back of these 3D printers it is is a pain to reach back around behind the 3D printer to feed your filament into a PTFE tube or however it is that you might have that lined up there a great example of this is the creality K1 series of 3 printers this is the K1 Max and this is in the back semic Center lower portion of the printer where you have to reach back around this larger machine try and find the spool holder and then feed Phil element back through it's it's like all of these 3D printers need a large Lazy Susan to swivel them around on so that you can more easily access them or like I've seen so many other people do is print mods for the spool holders that go on the sides of the machine or on top of them it sort of looks like some Brands saw what bamboo lab was doing and said I want that and so they decided to just one for one kind of mimic what they were doing by loading the filament on the back of the machine which from from a usability standpoint is just the worst location or better yet give me the back if you want to do that but give me a mounting point on the side that I can choose as a user how I want my filament to load in and I don't even have access to some of these other printers but just by looking at them online like the king run kp1 or the flash Forge Adventurer M5 we can see that those filament folders are directly in the back now two trees sk1 actually has their mounted on the side of the unit thank you and so far the worst offender of this has to be the kitty x max 3 which is just a huge printer and on the back here is this contraption that you need to like I don't know how someone's going to reach back around behind this take this off put the filament inside here inside this container opening is a PTFE tube that I need to now feed through and then it's got to go through the filament runout sensor which is on the back here and then feed it through the top through the PTFE tube into the extruder up top the printer itself is pretty good and prints really nicely but this is just a mess and speaking of PTFE tubes bamboo lab is also guilty of this one here which is the same design that I'm seeing on the kmax I'm also seeing on the K1 printers as well which is the there's not enough clear for the top glass panel or in this case here on this one a plastic panel or the frame that it's it's sitting or pressing against where the tube feels like it's like there's an enormous amount of pressure being placed on that where it's going to potentially cause issues with filament feeding into the printer I know we've not run into very many issues with that here on the bamboo lab printer so that sort of negates what I'm saying however we are still seeing this on these other machines and we're seeing people build mods directly into those to lift that up so that these are either not directly pressed on them which is also helping vent out some of the air that's coming with the tops that are on here which is a whole another thing in itself but it's one of those things that we're continuing to see some of the same design elements from the bamboo machines carry over into these other printers which is just leading to not great user experience when I'm trying to feed filament in and I can't actively feed it all the way to the extruder because of a kink or a sharp turn in the ptf2 god this thing's so heavy Jesus and the last point that I want to mention is something that not a lot of other brands are doing yet however I have a feeling we're going to start seeing that more this year and that is mobile app support so more of these cameras are coming supported with cameras and notifications thanks to the applications that you can have on your phones I I'm very nervous that there just going to be really bad mobile app experiences so far the K1 Max is really the only other machine out of the bamboo lab handy app and the anchor make app bamboo lab and anchor make have fantastic mobile app experiences and the usability of it and it's just you get in there you've got a whole bunch of just straight to the point info that you need and you can get out the creality app is exactly what I'm nervous we're going to start seeing more of and it's just a bloated mess of an app that's not like 90% of what's on there is nothing that I want to have on a mobile app so I'm just nervous that's more of what we're going to start seeing later this year and it's hopefully not the case but we'll see and again I'm really excited to see what this year is going to bring four different brands and manufacturers of the different types of products that they're looking to have produced and put out I'm hoping that we'll see some really cool ones come out here to help further compete with bamboo lab competition is a great thing thing for us as consumers so hopefully if anything this helps with something or nothing I don't know let me know in the comments maybe I'm completely alone here maybe you're also only on board with the spool holder paino in the back nothing that a 3D printed mod can't solve but just you know straight out of the box it should have been mounted on the side from the get-go hey I also want to say a big thank you to all my patreon supporters for your continuous support of me making videos here on the interwebs if you're interested in things like my 3D printer settings you can find those over in my patreon and one other quick call out that I'm loving seeing already is so far all of the other manufacturers that are trying to produce their own p1p style printer has a touchcreen built into this but I I have the uh two trees I think it is that just came out with the no big big tree Tech that just came out with a new touchcreen for this I ordered one hopefully we'll have it in a few weeks and we'll definitely be showing that off here on the channel hey thanks so much for watching well I'll see you next time byee
