what's up guys HJ here and I'll be showing you how to apply your stencil so you have your stencils here and then you'll also have your transfer paper hopefully you ordered transfer paper with your order otherwise it's gonna be a little bit difficult but here's your transfer paper transfer papers that white piece of paper next thing you're gonna do is you're going to cut out your stencil you can use an exacto knife or scissors and once your stencils cut out you can use an exacto knife to weed out the design also you don't have to weed out your design just yet it's really up to you depending on if you're using the positive or the negative side so I am going to weed out the stencil you can see in my hand it's actually a weeding tool you can use an exacto knife or you can use a larger needle so I'm going to weed out the design first but again you can weed off the design last after you place it on your shoe it's really up to you in my hand is the negative you can also use the positive of the stencil it really depends on what you're going for if you want to use the negative design I recommend placing the entire stencil on your shoe and then weeding out the positive from your shoe so personally I like using the positive side which is just the supreme on that white piece of paper but it's up to you on how you're customizing your shoe and now you can just continue to weed out your stencil get out those little dots in the e and the P and after you do this you're pretty much ready for transfer paper so the transfer paper is that white sheet of paper that you probably got with your order if you didn't get it from your order you can always buy transfer paper on Amazon or different places to sew stencils good to go then you're going to be applying your transfer paper okay so you're ready for your transfer paper also transfer paper is sometimes called transfer tape so if you didn't get this with your order you can always buy it on Amazon just look up transfer paper or transfer tape and what you're gonna do is you're going to press your transfer paper firmly over top of your stencil if for some reason it's not picking up with your transfer paper if the stencil is not picking up with the transfer you could press even harder with any object that you have in your house you can use scissors you can use the exacto knives cop you can use anything that you want but make sure to press firmly on it when I was first starting had no idea what transfer paper transfer tape was and I tried to apply everything by hand it was a disaster so definitely get yourself some transfer papers and transfer tape see is a ton of time so this is what you have now and then you can apply it to your shoe so if you're applying it to your shoe you want to make sure that your shoe has been properly prepped if you have a leather shoe it needs to have the de Glazer the acetone all that fun stuff I actually have different tutorial videos if you want to see like a full customization but for this one I did not prep the shoe because it's for illustration purposes only so you'll have your shoe and it should be properly prepped then you can decide where on the shoe you would like to place your stencil so normally I don't recommend ever placing the stencil on the toe box of the shoe I recommend placing it on the sides of the shoe it's just gonna be much more durable if you place it on the front of the shoe on the toe box of the shoe will crease over time so keep that in mind when you are customizing again personally I like doing things on the side once you find a good spot to place a stencil you're just gonna press firmly down on that stencil and then slowly peel off the transfer paper so like I said earlier the issues have not been prepped because I'm just doing this for illustration make sure that your shoes have been properly prepped a lot of times if they have been properly prepped it's going to easily come off when you're peeling that transfer paper off the stencil should firmly adhere to the leather if you are using a canvas shoe you don't need to prep just make sure that your canvas is clean another thing that I recommend is after you have removed the transfer paper and it should just the stencil you can take your emboss or you can take your heat gun you can take even a hairdryer and you're just spray it real quick maybe like five seconds so don't do it too much because you can Mel the stencil you'll just spray it real quick and it will help to properly adhere the stencil a little bit better to your shoe okay your shoe is good to go for painting so you're going to tape around that area however you may be designing it to make sure that you tape around that area very important then you're gonna get your paintbrush do not do this with your paintbrush okay you got to be very delicate you want to start and then slowly work your way out with your paintbrush otherwise you will have a ton of paint bleed underneath your stencil and personally I recommend investing in an airbrush it's going to be way smoother if you just invest in an airbrush so if you don't have an airbrush totally fine you can hand paint it but you need to be very careful as you're painting your stencil so as you are painting or airbrushing make sure that you're using really really light coats you don't want your paint to be too runny you don't want your paint to be too thick so keep that in mind Angeles and jacquard both have you know great options for painting your shoes just make sure that you're doing light coats and also in between layers you can use your heat gun you can use your hairdryer to make sure that that paint has properly dried and once you're done painting your stencil you can go ahead and carefully remove your stencil so using the same way that we weeded with an exacto knife a leader a needle you're just going to carefully remove your stencil one by one if you notice that there is any overspray under spray bleeding anything like that you can touch it up if you are using white shoes white leather shoes I found that the flat white from Angeles works really well very similar to the white color of the Air Force One Nikes and normally if you did airbrush less there really shouldn't be any bleeding underneath it if you hand-painted it you might need to do some touch-ups here and there but do keep that in mind for just how you painted the shoe so then next time you use your stencils there should be much more minimal bleeding and you guys are good to go so finish painting up shoe seal em up and you are set check me out on HJ artistry comm for any of your stenciling needs thanks for watching guys take care
