with metal spikes through their eyes emerging from the back of their skulls like horns and their affinity for violence steel inquisitors are truly the most horrifying creatures in the cosmere in this video we will explore their gruesome Anatomy learn of their violent creation delve into their awe inspiring powers and discover their history within the cosmere appearance and Anatomy inquisitors were once human but have since been transformed into something more Sinister their most striking and unsettling feature is the thick steel spikes in place of their eyes these spikes fill their eye sockets and protrude out the back of their head making one question how they're able to see let alone live surrounding these eye spikes are intricate lacing tattoos mostly black with one Stark Red symbol the black portion marks them as high ranking members of the Canton of Inquisition and the Red symbol identifies what type of alamer they were before becoming an Inquisitor they are tall lean creatures with bald heads their clothing consists of long dark robes that hang Loosely around their bodies concealing what is beneath if they were to remove these robes you would see a muscular torso with more thick metal spikes driven in at various locations s in their chests backs and arms most inquisitors during the final Empire had nine spikes in total two through the eye sockets one between their shoulder blades piercing their spine and six in the Torso after the Empire collapsed they began adding new spikes despite these spikes piercing their body in many vital locations there is no blood leaking they smile often but their smiles are far from comforting and are instead described as eerie and disturbing this accompanied by their sightless stairs spikee heads shining in the dim light is something out of nightmares although they still look much like humans they have been changed both physiologically and mentally their hearts have shifted to a different place from those of humans and their brains have rearranged to accommodate the lengths of metal jabbed through their eyes when they speak their voices are described as sounding grinding scratchy and Grading mentally they have become homicidal and take great joy in causing harm to others they carry obsidian axes as their weapon of choice and have been known to use them to commit gruesome acts hacking away gleefully long after their victim is dead although it may seem strange inquisitors can apparently still breed with humans and produce Offspring these offspring would be normal humans with a slightly higher chance chance of being an alamancecc but there could also be unknown complications creation the process of creating a steel Inquisitor is extremely messy and disturbing it's done through the metallic art known as hemery which steals abilities from alamancecc and ferak chemists and grants them to another the alamancecc and ferak chemists that have their power stolen die in the process creating an Inquisitor is costly as it requires at least 10 humans the one who will be transformed into The Inquisitor and nine that will die in the process the one to be transformed is chosen from the obligator in the steel Ministry they are typically either a bronze misting known as a Seeker or a full Mis born the other nine are usually mistings of each of the eight basic Alantic Metals known about during the final Empire but they can also be pher chemists the obligator undergoing the transformation is placed on a special table that has depression to allow for them to lie on the table and have one of the mistings placed on top of them a thick metal spike is then hammered through the mistings heart and into the obligator body in a strategic location the same process is repeated with eight other mistings until the new Inquisitor is fully spiked this horrific procedure is carried out by other inquisitors and they enjoy it a little too much even by creepy Grim Dark Fantasy creature standards we get a detailed and Dre some firsthand account of this and the hero of Ages prologue the man struggled weakly he was in a very awkward position as he had been tied to the table on top of another person the table had been designed that way with the pressions to allow for the body underneath Marsh smiled as his prisoner began to cry then he stepped forward raising the spike in his hand he placed it against the whimpering Man's Chest the spike would need to PE pierced the man's body passing through the heart then be driven into the body of The Inquisitor tied below hemery was a messy art that was why it was so much fun Marsh picked up a mallet and began to pound sometimes the obligator who undergo this transformation are taken by surprise and transformed without their consent we learn this in the hero of Ages when Marsh thinks about his own transformation The Inquisitor ERS came for him at night they'd burst through the door moving more quickly than Marsh could react they gave him no option they'd simply slammed him against the ground then threw a screaming woman on top of him then the inquisitors pounded a spike right through her heart and into Marsh's eye the pain was too great for him to remember that moment was a hole in his memory filled with vague images of the inquisitors repeating this process killing other unfortunate Al ancers and pounding their powers their very Souls it seemed into Marsh's body when it was finished he lay groaning on the floor a new flood of sensory information making it difficult for him even to think around him the other inquisitors had danced about cutting apart the other bodies with their axes rejoicing in the addition of another member to their ranks that passage is definitely one of the most disturbing ones from the entire series out of all the spikes an Inquisitor has the one pounded into their spine between their shoulder blades is the most important it is known as the Lynch pin and it connects the inquisitor's Upper and Lower Spikes making the spike chain complete this Lynch pin can be any type of Spike powers inquisitors are without a doubt one of the most powerful creatures on scadrial among the sca it's a common belief that they are immortal and that one of them is more powerful than a thousand troops they possess both Alantic and Ferro chemical abilities while the Lord ruler was still alive Inquisitor Powers were more limited due to him restricting the number and kind of spikes they could possess after his death however ruin began calling the shots and allowed the inquisitors to give themselves extra spikes the metal a spike is made from the type of alamer or ferak chemist killed to charge it and the location it is placed in the body all play a factor and the power it grants an Inquisitor the powers each Inquisitor possesses will vary depending on how many mistings they can find and sacrifice not all inquisitors have the same Powers if an Inquisitor was already a misting or mis borne prior to their transformation then a spike granting them a power they already possessed would almost double the strength of that power there are 36 known bind points that can be used to make an Inquisitor and 18 different different types of metal spikes that can be used we only see seven different spikes used in the books they are the following steel spikes can steal physical Alantic Powers which include burning iron to pull on Metals burning steel to push on Metals burning tin to increase senses and burning petor to increase physical strength and toughness inquisitors typically have four steel spikes one in each eye and two between the ribs although inquisitors can't see normally their eye spikes give them the power to see the world outlined in fine blue Alantic lines even going as far as pointing at the metals contained in a person's blood bronze spikes can steal mental Alantic Powers which include burning brass to sooth the Motions burning zinc to Riot emotions burning bronze to hear Alantic pulses and burning copper to hide Alantic pulses since most inquisitors are already bronze mistings or mistborn prior to their transformation a bronze Spike granting the power to seek out alaman will enhance that power enough to allow them to pierce copper clouds inquisitors typically have four bronze spikes between the ribs ATM spikes as seen in Era 1 steal the ability to burn ATM and see into other people's futures not all inquisitors have this Spike but the ones that do have it in their chest we learn from the table of hemic metals that a spike made from Pure ATM which must be refined can be used to steal any power gold spikes can steal hybrid femic Powers which include storing breath in cadmium storing energy and bend alloy storing health and gold and storing determination and electrum a lot of inquisitors will have one Gold Spike between their ribs to Grant the ability of storing health so they can heal from wounds those who do have this ability spend much of their time resting in order to store a bunch of Health P spikes can steel physical Ferro chemical Powers which include storing physical weight in Iron storing physical speed in steel storing senses and tin and storing physical strength in peor some inquisitors have a putor spike in their heart that grants them the ability to store physical speed the use of this Spike was granted after ruins release brass spikes can steal cognitive foch chemical Powers which include storing mental speed and zinc storing warmth and brass storing memories in Copper and storing wakefulness in bronze we only see one instance in the books of this type of Spike being used it was likely used to Grant an Inquisitor the ability to store mental speed according to this word of Brandon the use of this Spike was gained after ruins release electrum spikes can steal enhancement Alantic Powers which include burning aluminum to wipe internal Alantic reserves burning duraman to enhance current Metals being burned burning chromium to wipe Alantic reserves of a Target and burning nikil to enhance Alantic burn of a Target inquisitors used this type of Spike specifically for the duraman ability very few inquisitors got this Spike because they had to be made from a full mistborn since deraman was a newly discovered metal making mistings nearly impossible to come by the use of this Spike was gained after ruins release as I mentioned earlier there are more possible Inquisitor spikes that we learned of from the table of hemic metals but we will cover those in a later video when we do a deep dive on hemery if you want to know when that video is posted be sure to hit the Subscribe button and turn on post notifications inquisitors who have both Alantic and Ferro chemical Powers technically have the ability to compound gaining more power from their metal mines by Alantic burning them this is something the Lord ruler kept from them so they would have to discover this on their own inquisitors also also generally tend to live slightly longer than humans weaknesses steel inquisitors are certainly very powerful and frightening but they still have some weaknesses the most notable of these weaknesses is their Lynch pin Spike that pierces their spine between their shoulder blades the removal of this Spike breaks the chain of their upper eye spikes and their lower body spikes killing them instantly the Lord ruler built this weakness into inquisitors as a safeguard when he first designed them eventually ruin had the inquisitors Start Wearing metal armor around their torsos to mitigate this weakness however removing both eye spikes is still enough to kill an Inquisitor they can also be decapitated this will break the spike chain just like the Lynch pin removal we've also seen that crushing an inquisitor's head can kill them but it must be completely crushed as they can still heal if you just slice through their brain inquisitors require much more rest and sleep than humans usually many hours each day this is partially so the ones that have gold spikes can save up a lot of Ferro chemical healing but it also has to do with the sheer number of hemic spikes they have in them each Spike places a burden on the soul which causes them to exhaust easier perhaps their greatest weakness is the fact that they can be controlled by strong emotional alamy and the influence of shards such as ruin this weakness isn't unique to inquisitors but is shared by all hgic constructs including condra and Kos it's known as the flaw and essentially each Spike leaves the creatures mind wounded and creates holes in their Spirit web making them easier to manipulate this flaw explains why the inquisitors were so obedient to the Lord ruler and overly zealous about their worship of him it's also the reason ruin was able to take near complete control of the inquisitors after his Escape history during the Lord ruler's Ascension he gained much knowledge of hemalurgy such as Wich metals steal which powers and where the bind points on a human body are located he used this knowledge to create the first 16 inquisitors they would serve as his priests in his steel Ministry from that point forward he ordered them to hunt down alamer SCA Noble half breeds and far chemists to use for creating more inquisitors as well as experimenting with the creation of new hemic constructs they obeyed the Lord ruler because he used his powerful emotional alamy on them the inquisitors worshiped and served the Lord ruler in this fashion for more than 1,000 years until the Lord ruler was killed and his Empire collapsed eventually ruin was released and all the inquisitors were controlled by him and used as his pwns then the katandra happened and the world changed drastically ending era 1 300 years later during era 2 there is only one known Inquisitor still around and he has extended ing his Natural Life by using ATM Harmony had many of The Inquisitor spikes melted down and made into earrings the people of era 2 still depict inquisitors in their art and refer to them as the Lord ruler wraiths of whom only death himself remained that concludes this deep dive about steel inquisitors
