[Music] how to set up 3DS emulator on Steam deck Steam [Music] OS hello everybody Welcome to the channel today let's talk about Nintendo 3DS emulation on the steam deck Steam OS so you probably already know that the popular Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra that's been taken down now all right it's been taken down together with Yuzu the Nintendo switch emulator because Nintendo sued Yuzu and then they settled out of court Yuzu had to pay $2.4 million to Nintendo and they had to take down their projects because um yeah both of these ambulators are by the same team okay so luckily it was open source and a group of talented people has picked up the project for Citra and they've rebranded it to Lemonade emulator all right I'll link it in the description you just go to this page here and then I'm going to download the latest version as of recording which is this one lemonade Alpha 2 it might be different for you depending on when you're watching this video okay just get this one get the app image. zip right because I'm on Steam de Steam OS right okay so once you've got that it should be in your downloads folder I have it right here you can see here um here it is Linux app image. zip all right so inside uh it's another zip all right so just extract this 7 Z file extract it I'm going to extract it to my downloads folder I already have it so just overwrite okay and then and here's the z z file okay and we want this the lemonade cute app image this one the 44 megab one but I'm going to put it here inside Home applications this is where I put all my um emulator app Images so I'm just going to extract it here drag it over I already have it so I'm going to overwrite okay once that's done I'm going to open up the emulator so just double click it execute and you should see something like this all right lemonade and we need to locate the game folder I already have a game folder because I've installed muud before and it had Citra but now you can't get Citra on muud anymore so um I already have the ROMs so if you installed muud you don't know how to do that go to mud.com then uh then go here download select Steam OS and you should be able to download it okay I already have it so I'm not going to download it okay it's right here downloads uh you should get a file called this mud. desktop just double click it click execute and it'll like it'll be like a Windows installer just follow along you get to choose to install it onto your SSD or on an SD card I prefer my emulation stuff on the SD card so I put it here so that's why I've got an emulation fold up this is generated by muud so inside here you've got all the like folders go to ROMs and then um here 3DS this is where I put all my Nintendo 3DS ROMs okay so it was like it's been like this so that's I'm going to use this folder so what you need to do is uh here double click to add a new folder I'm going to locate my SD card so click on the slash button and it should be here run um media oops sorry about that media and then this is the SD card is's the folder right and then emulation it's all the same now ROMs 3DS and I click choose and you can see here are my games okay and something you might want to do is um set up the controls so go to emulation configure and then here controls this is the default it's a keyboard controls we want it to map it to our steam de controller so just click here Auto map and then once you press Okay click a button on your steam deck and you can see it should automatically map all your buttons for your steam de controls okay and here's also motion touch all right what you need to do is once you've installed muck right let me just open up my mu deck so once you've installed mu deck there's something called steam deck gyro DSU okay on the left hand side of mu deck there's something called third party tools gyroscope right you install this click this and install it and you should get these two icons on your desktop gyro DSU so once you've got this once it's installed back here click motion touch right motion provider make sure you select seamu hook UDP and then you can just leave it as it is should be default and you press test and should be successful all right successfully received data from the server all right so your like gyro controls now work okay uh okay now we just got to click okay and here you might want to change your graphics API open G or Vulcan it depends on the game um yeah I think mostly open GL is good but if you find it's not so good maybe you want to change it to Vulcan okay and yeah that's it that's it um what else is there uh you might want to change the UI the theme to like light or dark I like dark I like dark but there's also midnight blue if you want something like this yeah yeah you can change the theme uh there isn't much settings you might want to mess around with the settings uh here's the internal resolution I set it to 3x okay that's something I changed uh and then everything else I've left default uh you might want to mess around with it if your game doesn't perform too well and also here on the single our screen layout I select large so I get one large screen and one small screen for this for the touch screen right you'll see see when I go into gaming mode okay so once the mulate is set up done uh on muud because um lemonade is currently not part of muud uh we want to like use the steam ROM manager so click on Steam ROM manager click yes it's going to close your steam all right in Steam ROM manager we're going to scan our ROMs our games and then we want to create a shortcut for desktop mode no not desktop mode for gaming mode so we can launch the 3DS games on gaming mode and just run it there okay so what you need to do go to steam R manager right I normally go here settings and then here I'm going to select classic theme this is the classic theme okay and then go here create passer okay and then there's some Community presets search for 3DS and we're going to use the Citra one all right this is the community preset and then here configuration title I'm going to change it to Nintendo 3DS lemonade okay then steam category 3DS all right now we need to select our ROMs path so click here browse just this is my SD card emulation ROMs 3DS all right I'm going to select this folder and then we need to select the executable so here also click browse and then it's here home I'll put it inside my applications folder and then lemonade QT app image okay this one and then I think everything else is default yeah there's nothing else to do here all right make sure you click here save all right it's saved and it should be all the way at the bottom right here this one and it's toggled on all right now let's go back to the normal view so maybe go back to here settings and then here select theme go back to Mu Deck theme right I think you're more accustomed to this view click um let's go back to passes all right I I only selected the 3DS lemonade all right so click preview pass and you can see here my games loading okay and make sure you click save to steam and then you get all these and once it says done adding that means it's done then you can close it if it's doesn't have that done adding don't CL it yet so I've already done it so close close close okay let's go back to gaming mode and let's see it in in action let's see how it performs so if you like this video so far please remember to hit the thumbs up button it really helps out the channel and subscribe to the channel if you haven't already we talk a lot about gaming handouts especially the steam deck okay we talk a lot about emition cheats trainers um mods stuff like that so if that's something you're interested in make sure you subscribe to the channel don't miss out on the videos yes so I'm booting into gaming mode right now okay so before we go into gaming mode I forgot to mention so when you go to configure and like set up your controls but make sure in desktop mode you press and hold the start button and you should hear a beep all right and once you like that switches between gam pad mode and desktop mode for your controller so it it is a little bit different so if I press Auto map right now okay okay you see the start button is button six this is desktop mode all right so now I'm going to hold and like press and hold the start button okay now I'm in Gamepad mode and I press Auto map press okay and I change it you see here it's button seven this is Gamepad mode all right this works in gaming mode so you got make sure you're in like Gamepad mode when you do this Auto map all right so yeah just something I forgot to mention so back to gaming mode welcome back to my gaming mode so I'm going to press the steam button go to library and you can see collections here's the 3DS collection and if I launch uh Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D okay we should be able to get this this is something I'm not really sure um I don't know why it launches it doesn't launch in full screen okay so what I did was I pressed the steam button and go to controller settings all right and then I mapped I enabled the back grip buttons and I enabled R4 as the keyboard key f11 that toggles um full screen and on and off so that's what I did and so that's why I could like toggle between full screen and not okay and and so if you know how to just boot the game directly into um full screen mode let me know in the comments I'm not sure how to do that all right so let's check this out see the controls sound and everything okay all right gyro is working yep G's working fine um yeah everything's working great yeah so that's how you like put lemonade On Em de and on you know on Steam deck use the shortcuts everything looks good all right let me know in the comments if you have any questions and you know make sure you hit the like button I'll see you guys in the next one later
