S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly: Part One - Learning the Basics

hey guys cherche here so today i am having a look at stalker anomaly which is an awesome awesome uh mod for stalker basically it's a it's an entirely new game um i've been a fan of the stalker series for quite a while uh i've i played all the way through stalker shadow of chernobyl i never finished clear sky or call of pripyat but i've always been a fan of these games particularly shadow of chernobyl i played that a lot back in the day but yeah this this mod you can download this completely free you don't need any of the games this is its own standalone game and i've done a little bit of mucking around and testing um from what i've seen so far it seems really cool uh one of the really cool things about this game is that there is like an insane amount of settings that you can play with in the gameplay and everything i've mostly just been tweaking with the visual stuff to try and get it running pretty nicely on my computer uh but yeah the one of the beautiful things about this is there is like so many settings that you can fiddle with with the uh gameplay and you can pretty much customize the experience to be just just right for you like just what you want um but yeah so i'm gonna have a look at this uh this will be fun because i haven't played stalker in ages so it'll be fun kind of dipping my toes into a stalker game again and kind of like learning things um you've also got story mode which has some different uh story lines for the factions uh there's survival mode which you know spawns a bunch of zombies i'm probably gonna play around with that a bit later it's also warfare mode which will add like it it just makes all the factions are kind of having a war from what i understand i haven't checked it out yet but from my understanding is that it's basically like turns the whole zone into in just a war zone uh and then yeah you can kind of like just yeah join your faction or whatever and uh fight the war so yeah iron man mode heaps of options campfire mode only save at campfires agony mode you can't save you know injured blah blah blah but yeah lots of cool stuff you can change your name and everything um but i am just going to probably let's have a look i might just go medium and i'll go scavenger [Music] uh actually okay i'll go easy now go medium tourist and i think from there i will just because this is you know this is my first time playing i will figure things out as i go along you've got different factions you can choose too and you can choose a portrait [Music] lots of cool ones very cool portraits oh i like that yeah let's go with that for this guy and i'll change my name to churchy um and then yeah i've got points that i can spend to get like a bit of starting gear um pretty cool i don't know too much about what everything is but uh combat ration bandages okay well i'll get a couple of bandages probably a couple of medkits uh cool why not just get a few random bits and pieces you know don't really know what i'm doing as such but i still get that or 550 points let's get that just to make life easy at the start what are all these things so yeah the other thing is this is going to be quite a brutal game so i'm probably going to stuff up a lot um but that's kind of the the fun of it that it's going to be fun kind of sussing it all out again and kind of seeing what i can get up to but yeah let's let's get into it let's start it's also stalkers always had such a nice eerie kind of ominous atmosphere as well which i really like so and you know it's kind of post-apocalypticy in the sense of like you're in the zone like chernobyl exclusion zone um yeah sweet so here we are i've spawned in in a house i've already set up a few hot keys just like show off my character in that but yeah here i am um just pick things up nice tin of food let's open our inventory and equip some stuff they've even put like little uh you know animation of like equipping something like yeah armor and that so that's pretty cool because it's like uh sort of realistic i guess and again that's the the beauty of this like one of the best things so far because i haven't actually played much at all yet but that's one just one of the best things so far is like in terms of like all the different things that you can do it's like somewhere in there there is actually you can turn those animations off i'm not sure exactly where it is but that's the point there's so many you can you can tailor the experience to be exactly how you want it to be like you can fiddle with damage numbers and all sorts of things um and yeah so your little gas mask on and equip my pda that's another really cool thing the pda you know you hit p and it brings up your little uh your little gear your little pda you can have a look at the map and everything statistics relations contacts guide again i haven't really looked at much of this there is a radio that you can put on but i'm probably just going to avoid that just because of copyright potential copyright issues um and again there's like options which i will just double check but like radio i've turned radios of the zone off because you can walk up to radios and hear music playing on them and stuff but again i'm just trying to avoid any potential copyright issues because when i first jumped in i heard i spawned near a radio and i heard a song playing it was definitely copyrighted so but yeah let's kinda have a wander just kind of figuring things out a little bit oh yep got my gun and yeah like you know you can crouch you can crouch even lower um they're friendlies i hope yeah they're neutral um yeah but you know usually you're meant to play like first person it is meant to be a first person game but yeah it's basically prone it's um just the animation out on the other bit doesn't have it but yes then you've got your crouch and i've set it up to be toggleable again you can have it so that like yeah there's just so much stuff that you can fit with option wise but you get the point in that regard what's down here maybe i could find a cache of goodies or something nope just a little basement little cellar i think i've spawned in like yeah yeah i think i mean gordon or whatever which is uh actually like the starting town in the original stalker shadow chernobyl and there's like a trader guy down in this bunker that's pretty funny that's a nice hearken back to when i used to used to play this but yeah before when i was spawning in i was spawning in some random locations and some of them were really really cool a fresh face have i seen you around i think i clicked story and stuff when i when i started this i didn't i don't actually remember what i clicked but i think i had story selected but yeah you can like trade with him that's all the stuff he's got now because i started like as you can see twenty three thousand six two four but because i started like on the easiest setting when i chose my gear i had more stuff to choose from which is why i could get that because i was playing on the harder difficulties you have less options and it's more difficult starting out you know sleeping bag got a thousand are you another really cool thing that i noticed is that uh there's actually like a heap of mods that you can get for this as well there's heaps of add-ons that people have made i'm not gonna play around with that yet but yeah already when i was kind of sussing out this game a bit um there was a heap of really cool looking uh mods that people were like showing off in youtube videos and stuff so yeah that's like another whole avenue with this but let's just uh see if he's got any work all right let's do it location meadow i'll do it glad to be covered so cool but i feel like there might be a list somewhere maybe there's not i might just be remembering that differently i think it should show me where i've got to go that looks like it yep recover so it's just showing the objectives up on here and you can turn i i haven't turned it on but you can turn like fast travel on and um yeah there's lots of stuff you can play around with let's get out there and uh explore it's also got some pretty nice uh shooter mechanics in this too like you know you've got your lean left and right aim down sights and like i was doing before you know you can crouch you can low crouch which is basically prone i'd say it's the equivalent of prone um but yeah you know all the distant gunfire and stuff always really cool looks like there's some anomalies in that cave or so i've got quick save and quick quick load so one of the cool things right i mean obviously you can see that one but this was always something really cool in the original game sometimes there was sections where there was anomalies and stuff like that but they'd be like invisible sort of and you could throw a bolt see how the bolt like triggers it so you'd like run along and in certain sections you'd like throw bolts out just to get through looks like there's plenty of campfires around so if i was doing like an iron man mode play through you know with campfire only saves and that because that's the other cool thing you know you can light up the campfire man this like i know just already knowing that i how much i enjoyed the original game and like just based on the tiny tiny tiny bit of scene of this game i just know i'm going to get so many hours of fun out of this and it's completely free that's oh it's it's awesome i'm i'm very excited by it like looking forward to sinking uh a lot of hours into this yeah let's continue on to what we're trying to do oh yeah and even like that mini map i've got up the top like you can turn that on and off so i need to go north oh that sounded like a dog yep he's coming for me i'm probably gonna [ __ ] this up because the dogs are really quick got him need a knife okay so if i grab out a knife does that let me skin it hey nice so that's another new thing oh god get this out again awful awful i think i heard another one too all right looks like i'm bleeding a bit oh no i'm not i know i am let's use a bandage i don't know if that actually helped too much i think it stopped stop the bleeding maybe med kit where's another anomaly on the bridge that hit something sounds like boars nearby too this has just gotten super brutal i need to that's thing too like i know there's so much stuff i need to figure out about this like which is kind of cool because it's it's it's all fresh learning and the mods added so much so like pretty excited about that health represents and there's so much info on oh dude for something that's free this is insane mild bleeding can be quickly stopped bandages or even stopped its own water bleeding can deal a great damage yes and you got like radiation chemicals electrical oh god what is that little mutant rat thing trying to sneak up on me well let's let's chop all these bodies up little just salute it all yeah that's right i got your head now a little rat critter i think you can eat the dog meat and stuff and like cook it maybe dog heart oh wait maybe you can use them to to make the artifact things because i know there's like artifact things that give you like more stamina to all sorts of stuff and you can find them near anomalies and stuff too sometimes that was another fun thing you'd go like oh man it's it's the memories are coming back you know yeah so see these are some of the like the the harder to see ones that i was talking about and you like throw a bolt at it oh there's an anomaly there yeah very very cool here's something something wants my blood yes what's all this weapons and attachments ah it's like gear filters medicine oh god [ __ ] oh man he snuck up on me holy [ __ ] oh what do you got cloth mask flesh meat let's just take it all for now i'm getting yeah i think i'm still getting shot at or someone's shooting still having a firefight in the distance just gonna use another one of these i've got them in my quick slots nice so many see look at all these features man this is the other cool thing like look at all the different uh survival systems like oh well you know there's boost things but like you know you've got your sleep hunger in first it's the radiation weight bleeding man i don't know this is just oh i can feel that i'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this like an upgrade kit usable at workshops for installing suitable upgrades there you go all right we're how are we looking for where i've gotta go north and then east over that way basically i i remember this area quite well like bandits i think usually there's like military dudes up at that bridge i don't know if it'll be like that in this but are there any enemies around any bandits so ominous man sneak up on me at any minute i think it's abandoned i don't think there's anyone here that's fine by me don't shows some pills what do these pills do another campfire spot man some uh there's uh it's just gonna be i don't know sorry guys i'm just getting uh very excited about this like i just can't believe i haven't played it sooner actually one of the guys on discord ages ago mentioned it ravi and i uh just hadn't got around to it and then i saw a video about it the other day and i was like please be something cool in this little box i think you can break these with your knife maybe maybe oh no there we go i did break it anything inside nope that's all right can't wait to have a nice sniper rifle and like assault rifle and get all kitted out and ah yeah yeah going to be so good i remember what artifact it was called it might have been like spark or something i think that was an anomaly or something but there was like a it was like a blue one and it used to boost the hell out of your stamina like the really good version of it because you could get like small ones and then better ones and um yeah vodka but yeah there was like uh one of them was uh just a really like really really good stamina boost and i used to just like wear heaps of those i don't know maybe there's lots of artifacts or something i know that'll be them maybe because i think yeah you could equip like five or something that that looks like where they really go but there's they do like all sorts of things i imagine this mods probably uh added like heaps of uh cool things like cool oh i'm i'm scared oh wait i think i have to go through the military thing or sneak past it somewhere it's this fence i don't know if it has gaps where i need to get to is uh above me i think yeah i could probably sneak through somewhere let's let's walk the fence line steve i don't think i can but i'll walk up that way a bit see what i can do and then if not i'll come back and try and sneak through here kind of curious now to see what's up here anyway looks like there's balls down there they're pretty nasty from memory zombie i think they're their new rock crusher anomaly let's just get our bolts out and yeah i'm sure this this uh i'm sure there's like heaps of new enemies in uh yeah an anomaly okay so that's not setting it off so it's behind him i think i hope yeah good looks like i can loot him nothing in there nothing on him i'm getting radiation let's back up i think you've got unlimited bolts yeah oh i hear a zombie man i can't wait to to try the uh the zombie survival mode like that off gonna make some like music that's inspired by uh 28 days later and chuck some of that on and oh it's i can already see a fun video in that yeah so it looks like i have to hike back to the little cross point just gonna pop another quicksave maybe there's no one here this time it looks it looks empty okay i'm cool with that another another difference because from memory yeah there's like bandits somewhere there bandits over there like this the original game i'm talking about oh that's an anomaly 4k now um but yeah like and then this this checkpoint from memory it has like a few soldiers running around because it's meant to kind of like stop you from progressing too quick but you can come and kill them instantly and get past it but uh yeah just an interesting tidbit a little great little campsite i think i think a lot of these might be added like i don't remember there being that many campsites strewn around but i think it makes sense too with the whole campfire uh saving mode right i think this might be near where i need to be yep a bit further up that way oh that's a bore just gonna do another quicksave you'll probably see me quick saving quite a lot um because you know i'm getting my bearings i'm just having like a i mean it's still going to be hard but i'm having like an easier playthrough of the game on my first go take up the broken radio oh the ball got killed by an anomaly or was it just a log that whole time i swear i saw a ball now i'm confused maybe i just saw a log being like thrown about by an anomaly that could have been it i could have sworn i saw a poor my my brain's just tripping out now because i was yeah i'm just an idiot i think oh maybe it's an area i have to like transition to it doesn't look like it though although it could be according to the dark valley because i'm in cordon right now i believe oh there it is to the meadow okay so i've got to go down this way yeah cool i'm sure a lot of the uh textures and stuff have been played and played with and improved and everything too all advanced tools to instant set of old tools appear to be in good condition contains a handful used for creation of better equipment so it's like a little workbench technician could use these to fully modify weapons and armor oh yeah does it weigh a ton yeah it's not too bad old rounds weapon upgrade kit higher rate of fire than regular ones cool so then if i let's see if i can use that or some zombies in the distance there can i use that here like can i what can i modify just trying to think like how i if i unequip that maybe oh okay usable on my cat okay so it's like an upgrade to the workbench i see what what's up that makes sense because it's like why would you be doing it out here fine i don't want to deal with those zombies so i'm just gonna scoot past move to the meadow yeah boy we're off to the meadows are they hostile or are they okay they're neutral good that's good because that would have been a bit a bit savage if i got thrown into like combat mind you because when i transferred like when i was smoking around earlier when i transferred to an area i went somewhere pretty hostile and like i was immediately just decked nothing hiding on the shelves those sun rays very nice very nice anything down in this basement it's boxes oh wait i think i can maybe break no like i know i can pop that open is there anything in there it doesn't look like it what's this then camouflage topple and large sheet of strong flexible water oops cool so maybe i can use that to set up like a tent or something at some point make a tent always another little whoa i turn that crosshair off it's going to be more immersive at least for now like i don't need it there so it's not like an armor upgrade polyurethane fiber layers or something plates yeah outfit part it's like gun gun like bulletproof plate things armor plates so i'm sure if i find a workbench i can like upgrade myself a little bit oh please let me out there we go let me out oh so you can break those okay that's right i had a suspicion that you could maybe they maybe they have looting them too big old radio hi guys you've got better equipment than me so much so much loot you know oh i can't pick those ones up being better days what do you need got anything to sell i would sell him something easy shouldn't be too hard hopefully let's see an anomaly there i'm getting a bit thirsty a little bit thirsty got me water bottle now it's gone cool energy drink i think i was still like stamina and stuff stimulant pretty sure you can shoot some canisters in the game that will explode let's have a look let's let's test it well f9 to quick load because i don't want to waste any bullets so i think it's like right here somewhere literally just up there oh that's scary just isn't normally like scooping up stuff as it like lasts around the place fun sparkling water i don't think there's even any enemies here i think it's just anomalies everything's been killed by anomalies oh that's definitely not not good i think he's like a psychic guy quick get the stuff and run because i'm fairly sure that thing will like kill me pretty quick i mean i'll have a crack at it but oh god they floated my weapon an anomaly got me maybe i don't know i'll stab you you little dwarf but anyway yeah so i'm gonna i'm gonna not fight that thing right now i got that i looted the bits i need i can run away let's just run out of the compounds kind of hide up behind this truck or something and then and kind of uh just re-kit a bit so i don't drain my stamina so quick and i can run back heinz beans okay probably don't need that let's drop that i know it should be sweet so now let's play with the bolts and see if i can find anything cool in this area lots of radiation so maybe maybe not maybe we just leave i'm too much of a rookie at the moment to do much you know but i have nearly finished my first mission successfully so we got a shipment to deliver and a few bits and bobs to sell hopefully yep move to gordon back into the lovely tame lands now i just head south east through there come back there and boom hey we made it howdy howdy hello friend we're safely back at the camp much more kitted out guys all right let's go turn this in hey successfully completed our first mission the job is done seven six five zero not bad i want to trade ah it's all too damaged for him to even want it it's cool too because the uh the message thing right that has like uh places you can go and yeah like hey help us we're taking fire from zombies in the army warehouse north west the old jack you guys having some uh some troubles because the radiation slowly killing them i'm gonna get rid of some radiation oh no hey i got rid of some of that and now i don't think it's draining my health i'm a little bit a little bit thirsty have some sparkling water so i mean i can pick up another job or i can like oh he's got like a big lmg damn dude garbage i remember that area [Music] nice maybe i'll just pick up another odd job see where it takes us let's see what he says about the main quest stuff something you know when the next bus leaves in 20 minutes it was talking many people before you've come here looking to find the wish going though you know they'll have in common today they're all worm food except maybe sherlock in any case swish is just a legend of me if the money i offer is real work hard please smile you'll be rich in no time yeah sure hey nice so now i can go kill some bandits so it's going to be a bit more intense let's just do a nice little quick save mobbing the mob darkscape or meadow to harass the rookies [Music] so where's darkscape i guess and meadow i mean i know where meadow is so like so that's darkscape and that's meadow so if i just head that way i'll most likely see some bandits just gotta head to the east here a little mutant rat thing again i think oh god [Laughter] mutant cats like mutant mountain lion wow i got wrecked i got absolutely wrecked i didn't even have a chance to shoot it holy [ __ ] hey the weather's changed this is more like it dark and gloomy and stormy oh i think they're coming for me get out of here they're probably still gonna get me to be honest god they hit hard and i'm dead again gotta like not fight them in the grass you know oh here we go that's more like it man intense dude now i can harvest them cat claw cat tail ludo get the bits and i can sell them hell yeah and then there's like the bigger cat so they knew these weren't in the uh in the base game little freaky ass mutated cats guessing that's the tunnel that will lead to like dark escape or whatever old headlamp some coins yes that does lead to dark escape hey mutant have you seen any bandits dude yo i'm just looking for bandits man sun is going down mutants are waking up oh god that's that's a bit scary that's a bit worrying man one of the cool cool enemies i remember from this game is they were called like snorks or something and they had like a gas mask with a snorkel thing on it and they were all like mutated and ah and they used to like leap at ya and then there was like a predator thing almost like it was like invisible i can't remember what he was called but there's this really cool sequence where you're in the sewers and you're like moving through the saws and he sort of stalks you and then like eventually runs and attacks you and he's invisible that's so cool dude that music any bandits hello oh god that's me done see if i can get up here i don't think i can but it's worth a try oh maybe hey nice are you going to get me now you [ __ ] boys maybe i'll wake him up with a pistol shot get out the good the good rifle come closer come on i swear they're hobbling now like i think i've injured them a bit maybe maybe not he definitely looks like he's hobbling come on all right that's that one dead uh am i the sniper or all right i think he's dead too or is there like a sniper hiding somewhere hey we killed the boys so fourth time was the charm that time need a stronger knife for this mutant can't even harvest the sexy borehides ah oh well okay so sniper fire was heard in darkscape which is where i am but i don't know if they heard me or if there's like a sniper somewhere and also there might be bandits in here somewhere so just kind of hug the rocks i don't see any snipers doesn't mean they're not here though let's avoid that anomaly man this area might be a little bigger than i thought the [ __ ] was that well so yeah so there's like a whole forest in this section surely i can find some bandits in here so look at like all of that this game uh has a really nice attention to it as well it's a bit like uh dayz and stuff sort of i mean i know it's like a single player in that though like and it's like ai and stuff but it's it's similar to that feeling of like those sort of games where you've got that like survival tension kind of going on like okay that looks like it could be some kind of camp which could mean bandits which could be very good for me because that could be exactly what i need oh god oh god i'm so dead i'm a bleed out right here here's the medkit where the [ __ ] does that even come from dude he's a bandage did i get him he's right near that tree oh holy [ __ ] i heard sniper fire okay was so was that as a sniper again [ __ ] you now man i'm not very not very stocked up you know i hope it was just the one guy [ __ ] hell that got the heartbeat up of it there's my blood as i like stumbled up here and just got attacked i think it was just the one guy i feel like otherwise there'd be more guys shooting me i'd be dead by now aha i did get him i think he's got the same gun as i do yeah nice let's take all this stuff two abandoned faction patches so i need five more i think but like where are my missions you know task list oh there we go of course that doesn't really tell me like the info on the task yeah whatever i guess i'll creep around here see if i can find some more i bandits i need to dump some stuff you know i feel like these will sell for uh maybe that will sell for a bit that won't sell for anything damn this is cool i like this area oh that's a cat let's quick save back up a bit try and find like a nice clear area where i can get a line of sight on it or just back up and hopefully he won't chase me all right i thought those bushes were a few guys walking along then for a second like at the corner of my eye oh a shed looking thing could mean bandits getting tense again where are you little cat bastard leave me alone i feel like i'm being stalked by the [ __ ] thing i'm being hunted man hey nice water tower another blowout very soon oh i think blowout's like uh oh let's save in case they're bandits i don't think they are because of the icons on the map but [Music] but uh no i think a blowout is when like heaps of crazy [ __ ] starts going like right like all kind of anomalous in the air and you have to kind of take shelter hey these guys are friendly i don't know what the [ __ ] happened then it's a weird little hey it's like uh anvil thing are you a merchant yeah let's trade uh he doesn't want any i got enough money to buy that too so that's nice does that mean now i can disassemble like can i just assemble that no i don't want to drop it [ __ ] where did it go i wanted to disassemble that you're a better trader he's got some decent stuff and i could sell some random things to him binoculars that could be handy actually nice oh yeah i think number five is binoculars yeah all right that's definitely going to be handy because like now i can look in the distance hey sleep i can rest for a bit let's sleep and hopefully recover a little bit you got some ammo he does i'll buy all of your ammo for that let's sell some other hammer let's just sell all the ammo that i'm not sort of using um it's all right sorry i'm leaving are there any bandits anywhere around old tank or pc looking thing i wonder if there's some good loot there probably not but you know it's cool it's a cool wreck god damn the ambience and atmosphere crazy get out of the radiation oh it'd be bandits actually i think this is where i need my crosshair because i can actually see whether they're enemies or not because of uh show npc identification yep they're baddies it's probably more than one surely there's more than one yep there's a second if i can get to that tree use that like that tree there use that for cover hopefully like down those two pretty quick let's see how we go then hopefully i'm ready to react to like whatever comes next i wish i had a scope actually maybe i can use the corner of the building i might be able to i think it is just those two we'll just quickly check here we go time to strike all right nice and clean oh they're renegades they're not even bandits or whatever oh well still i ain't complaining they were hostile so you know just like salvage these disassembled ah no parts obtained can i disassemble these they're nice i can disassemble disassemble and then maybe just kind of hide in here for a minute because it's all dark and spooky outside now land of attack will be i think head back up there i don't really want to go oh maybe but then i'll probably just find more renegades yeah i guess i can go searching up here let's see what we find oh oh [ __ ] that's rough that definitely sounded like doggos oh god oh god i'm gonna die that hit was way too savage [ __ ] hell that was scary too the way they like stalked up on me oh this game is brutal but it's so cool yeah like i'm too close to the dogs already get back here all right i'm slowly improving only took me two times to uh to deal with them this time i think it was just a three [ __ ] oh this does get the heart going a bit just because it's so eerie and like the way they snuck up on me and stuff get my torch out so spooky dude oh nothing useful i just don't feel safe like standing in the middle of the road with a light out oh that's an anomaly right there just the weird wind thing that keeps appearing what the [ __ ] was that that's what i was talking about that's that enemy that invisible thing oh jesus oh [ __ ] got him holy [ __ ] dude [Music] little i gotta gotta use a bandage gotta use a bandage i'm getting the [ __ ] out of here [ __ ] now i think i might die anyway will that heal me what will heal me i'm dying drink some water drink some of this whatever oh wow what a way to go bleeding out i thought the bandage was meant to stop bleeding or whatever holy crap that raw man that raw [ __ ] oh [ __ ] he's right there you little [ __ ] holy [ __ ] oh god damn terrifying man i'll get him this time you can't get me up here where did you go how that is i'm [ __ ] petrified i'm like i don't want to get down from this thing ah oh god i'm paranoid there he is [ __ ] this is terrifying oh god oh no i think you just ate me yeah he did oh man i'll get him this time third time's charm always is except for that time when it took four attempts on something oh he's coming [ __ ] this is so much harder with a gun like this where it's like [Applause] i just because it's like you don't want to you got to be really careful like you don't if you start sprinting and stuff it's risky you know well depending where you are i guess but nope i don't want to move to the dark valley i want to run all the way back and go to the meadow but first i think i'm just gonna i think what i'm gonna do is get back to the uh i'm gonna run back along there make my way back
