Speedrunning Cuphead with a Mugman Army

so today we're speed running through cuphead but we have a mugman army we can do this by playing on the legacy version of the game and then making both the first and second player bound to the same controller with the next play then if we remove the second player and immediately spawn him again we clone mugman you can do this legitimately as many times as you want and it makes for a pretty fun speedrun now after we start the speedrun and skip a couple cutscenes we're going to want to get the three coins from this dude before entering the first run and gun section and for the run and gun section all we're really worried about is getting all five gold coins so we can get some better weapons it doesn't really matter if we take too much damage or anything like that we're just trying to go fast but after we finally finish that stage we can buy both the roundabout and the lobber for both cuphead and mugman now it's time to get on to the fun part so we start out with the root pack and this is actually a really fun fight first of all we're going to want to clone three different mug men then after we get all of them we're going to want to go right up next to this guy and repeatedly switch between firing lobbers and roundabout shots basically since we're on the legacy version of the game we can double our damage by just constantly switching between these two and yeah you can see it kind of just destroys enemies finally we'll finish out the carrot guy with some e-xs which of course is like five different ex's at the same time because every single one of our characters has one yeah you can see the speedrun is gonna be fun next we're moving on to ribby and croaks and similar to the last fight we're gonna want to clone about three mug men for most of the fights we decide not to clone too many mugmen just because after a certain point it doesn't really save too much more time now for this fight after doing all of our cloning we pretty much have the same strategy as last time just get really close to them spam some exes and try to finish this phase right away what we can actually do for this is skip the windmill phase as well if we get enough damage so you'll see he goes right into his mouth and now we get to do the lottery machine stuff now for this part first of all we can't really do too much until we can spin the wheel and then we can get one of three different attacks but it doesn't really matter which one we do get because we're doing so much damage especially with our exes that we just finished them off nice and easy so that's two down and now it's time for goofy legrand now this fight is pretty similar to the last two where basically we want to spawn three clones and then get really close to goopy and just spam a bunch of shots at him at least for the first phase this is all we're really focusing on and just making sure none of our clones die because of course that's gonna lose a little bit of time but you can also see that with just a couple exes we already killed him yeah this glitch is actually insane he didn't even get the chance to get big but alright now it's time for hilda and this is going to be our first air fight now you can still do the glitch in the air fights as well it does feel like a tiny bit different timing but i'm not actually sure if that's true or not but pretty much like all the rest of them we just want two to three clones then we're basically gonna be up in our face and try to shoot as many shots at her as we can we're also gonna use our ex's whenever we can as well just to get in that extra damage there's not too much to say about this fight it's basically just do a bunch of damage try to go fast and eventually she's going to start a complaining phase now you can't actually damage her during this phase it only fills up your ex bar so we make sure not to use any ex's until she gets to her moon phase and then let them all rip and she will go down pretty easily so finally let's move on to the last fight in world 1 against cagney carnation now the flower is probably one of the most satisfying fights using this glitch and that's because this guy gave me so much trouble when i was speedrunning this game normally but if we spawn three clones and just get right up in his face all we have to do is stand by him jump and do a ton of damage and we're gonna end up doing so much damage that he'll get into his second phase but not even get the chance to use it yeah this just feels right then of course we talk to king dice and make it to the second world where the challenge is actually gonna get hard so to start off we talk to this guy and he gives us bombs that we can use for our air fights in the second world i choose to do the fights that i find the hardest just so if i have to reset at least i don't waste too much time and one of those fights i find annoying is going to be against the genie now i don't really have a set amount of mugman i'm trying to spawn for this fight i just try to spawn as many as possible as fast as possible until he finally decides to use his chest move and we actually have to start dodging attacks then we just want to get really close to him and use both our bombs and our regular shots just switching off between the two that's hopefully going to do a ton of damage to him and now we can move on to this phase which you know it's pretty simple you just kind of go through destroy the faces try not to die not too much to explain for this but after we get done with that i'm going to spawn a couple more guys just so we can hopefully finish him off really fast and he's going to show his face and we just want to get really close to him switching between the regular shots and the bomb shots you also see if he does kill my mug men i can just go and parry them and save their lives so we don't have to be too careful and we can just finish him off nice and easily skipping his last two phases which is going to save us a ton of time so yeah that fight is definitely a run killer for me but so is beppy the clown the fight we're doing next now for this fight we want to spawn exactly three mugman clones and then we're gonna jump over him and we're going to do just the right amount of damage i usually use the cards in the bottom left to see how much damage i've done and once i've done about 1 in 1 4 cards i know i'm probably gonna be fine so beppy can come charge at me and i can use an ex as you can see we get this weird animation where there's a bunch of explosions so now beppy isn't going to switch to any of his other phases and you'll see that this weird texture glitch happens but we can keep damaging him and pretty much just finish him off which was actually really scary because we only had one hp left but at least we got another run killer down and let's go on to an easy level so bon bon is a very hard boss when you're playing casually at least she was for me but when we use this trick we just completely destroy her i only need to spawn two mugman clones and then we just completely obliterate all of her minions nice and easily like they're not even on the screen for more than two seconds and they're already going to be dead so we go through every single one of these mini bosses and finally she pops her head out and we can finish her off just as easily with a few exes now after that it's time for another air fight with wally warbles for the wall-e fight i usually try to spawn three or four clones but honestly i don't keep track of it too much and then we really want to make sure that none of our clones die so i stay pretty far away from him in this fight i actually decided to be a little risky and you can see why that's not a good idea so i just went back to my normal strategy staying away from him and doing damage from afar once he gets into this phase we can also start using the exes and yeah pretty much just taking his health out little by little then once he gets into the little bird phase we're going to want to get right by him and start using our bomb attacks you can also see right there i lost all of my mug men so yeah this was kind of not the greatest fight in the world i definitely made my fair share of mistakes i also only had one hp left so i had to really make sure that i wasn't going to lose this fight yeah at the end of the day this is a time loss but it's not too bad and this run has been really good so far so i decided to keep going with it and now it's time for the hardest boss fight in world 2 against grim matchstick now with this fight immediately i want to dash to the left then we need to spawn three clones and if we mess up a single one of them we're going to have to retry the level but somehow i was able to get all three of them right away and you can pretty much see the strategy i'm staying kind of far away from him when he has hard attacks but normally i want to be really close to him and alternate between my two attacks then once we get onto this next phase we can start using exes and pretty much just pout him with attacks we have so much damage that's going out right now so even though a couple of our mugman clones die he's finished off pretty easily so yeah that's world 2 in less than 15 minutes now we talked to king dice one more time before moving on to world three now our first fight in world three is going to be against rumor honey bottoms and this is easily one of my favorite fights using this glitch now right at the start of the fight we want to go up into the left then we're basically just gonna spawn as many clones as possible i don't really have a set number for this fight it's basically just spawn them until the police bee comes near me and then just start pelting him with attacks and he gets finished off really easily then honey bottoms is going to come to the left of us so we can use some attacks and some ex's and finish her off in this space we skip so much of this fight and it feels really good given that she gives me way too many problems at regular speed runs and speaking of problematic fights it's time for dr kahl's robot now this fight starts out pretty similar to the last one where i just want to spawn as many clones as possible the number doesn't really matter as long as i have at least around three then when he tries to aim his head beam at me we're going to go to the bottom and destroy that part of the robot he'll then try to shoot another one so we can go to the top of the robot and destroy that as well now at this point it's just a game of patience because we can do a very quick kill as long as we don't try to do it too fast and make sure that none of our people die so it's pretty much just hit us hard enough times with every single one of our bomb shots and that will finish him off before having to do the extremely long phase that you normally would have to for this fight this is another one that feels way too good now moving on to sally stage play this fight isn't too bad we start off with spawning about two to three clones and it's pretty much just the simple get nice up close and personal to them and do as much damage as possible once she gets onto her second phase it's pretty much the exact same thing i mean what do you expect for this fight it's an easy one her next phase is going to be our devil face where we're going to want to use an ex and finish her off as she's going back up yeah we kind of just ruined our wedding and let's ruin someone else's day because now it's time for werner roman now at the start of this fight it's pretty much just spawn as many clones as possible you know like a bunch of these fights once i feel like i have enough we just want to get close to it but some of these attacks are really annoying and i actually got hit there but it's pretty easy to save my clones if i'm in the same area then once he gets onto that phase we start using our ex's and pretty much just finish him off before he even gets in the cat yeah that's another really satisfying fight next we have captain britney beard and like for a lot of these fights we only need about three clones so i'm going to make those right away and we're actually going to play this fight kind of safe because when he uses the squid attack it's really easy to get hit and lose your clones so i stay kinda far away from that and then when he doesn't use that attack i'm going to get right up in his face use some exes and try to do as much damage as possible eventually he's going to lose all his health and it's time for the next phase which we finish right away by just using a single ex and there we go the fight's already done we only have four fights left at this point and now it's time for cala maria now this fight is really interesting because we actually want to make sure we don't do too much damage if we do too much damage before a certain part of this fight it's actually going to soft lock us and lose a ton of time so right at the beginning i'm only going to spawn around four to five of my guys go up to her and use a couple of my bomb attacks also while trying not to get hit obviously but after a bit of those bomb attacks i'm going to switch to my regular attack because it is really easy to do too much damage to her and just ruin the entire fight it's actually happened to me before yeah gotta love it but as soon as her electric eels show up that's when we want to stop attacking because this is when it could easily soft lock but after we wait a bit we can start attacking again and just do way too much damage to her we just pow her face with bombs and finish her off extremely quickly now it's time for the phantom express which actually has a really cool strategy now we start off with basically spawning as many clones as possible i don't really have a limit for this one it's pretty much just spawn them until it feels right and then we can start attacking back at the ghosts but i actually made a really stupid mistake here and i didn't line up my clones before we attacked him so once the platform moved i tried to correct my guys and yeah kinda just had to retry the level uh that was so disappointing but i was going for a sub 30 and it was extremely possible with how fast we were going so i was fine with it anyways after we get done with that phase it's time to attack this guy which we actually lagged the screen on that's how much damage we're doing and then we also want to make sure these pink things that those guys are dropping doesn't hit our platform because that's going to mess up our setups and for this setup all we have to do is aim at each of these heads and they also die really quickly because we just have way too much damage with us finally we can move the cart to the left and re-center all of our people now for this final part of the fight basically i want to open up his oven and then i just have to use two e axes right on his heart which will kill him instantly and now we only have two fights left now the first fight is going to be king dice and the thing about this fight is for some reason the clone trick actually doesn't work yeah no one really knows why so before the fight we're going to remove our second player so the bosses won't have more health and since we're not using the army glitch for this fight i'll just go through it really quickly first we want to hit a 3 which makes us fight this boss and yeah you can pretty much see the strategy it's not too difficult then we want to hit it too and for the domino's boss it's also pretty simple we just stay close to him use some exes then we'll hit a three onto the safe spot and then another two which will put us into the pool ball boss which is probably one of the easiest bosses in the game literally you just shoot up then finally we can hit it two and then any number over one it's time to take care of king boss which is pretty much just used to me x's and make sure we don't die in these card phases yeah really not too much to explain and after beating king dice we're actually going to want to quit out of the game so we can set up the controller glitch again and once we get that set up it's time for the devil now you can see i can very easily get my sub 30 time as long as i don't die in this boss fight and this boss fight is actually really interesting because if any of our clones die and then we save them then it has the possibility to cause a soft lock so for that reason i'm only going to spawn about two clones now for the first phase of this fight it's basically just do some damage you actually don't have to do too much you're just trying to make sure you don't get hit which i did so yeah now it's just cuphead hopefully this won't go badly but it doesn't really matter that it's just cuphead because we've already done so much damage so we get him onto his skeleton phase where we can jump in the hole and then remove player 2 because he died earlier at this point we want to spawn a bunch of clones as the camera is panning down and now we're just going after the devil's eyes and doing our best to not get hit we can use some exes and yeah i died why does this always happen to me literally in the dumbest position ever i died i don't even know how it happened it was actually an extremely easy attack to dodge and yeah as you see i just restarted the fight so yeah because i choked extremely hard i didn't get my sub 30 and ended off time with a 30-32 it'd be like that sometimes now that's going to put me on last place on the army percent leader board because you know there are only two other people but the real funny part about this category is it actually doesn't save any time compared to an actual speed run pretty much all the tricks we did can be done in a regular speed run this just makes it easier at least we had a good time right please subscribe
