[Music] on this episode attack TV were at h2o fowl farms range in Dunn North Carolina with my good friend Ken hackathorn and a very special guest Super Dave Harrington is here to break down special operations handguns we're going to take you through a variety of model some of which we've had involvement with in addition to that we're going to take you through some of our very favorite drills and ones that we all use in our training classes the exact same drills that we've used to hone our skill set I guarantee it's gonna be episode you don't want to miss [Music] if you think about it in the real world particularly in the military and also in law enforcement special operations are really the guys that are on the cutting edge using a handgun they're the guys most likely that are gonna use it in offensive capacity most of the time a handgun is used offensively some special operations it is - it can also be used in an offensive manner because of that they have to be out practicing they had to be trained they're more on top of the skills and drills and modifications to be able to use the gun effectively that's why when you look at handguns in the real world there's really two areas that kind of jump to mind one concealed carry and then the second thing is if you want to look at guys that are using it in a duty environment on the cutting edge without a doubt at Special Operations very good to see bro I see you guys got some cool stuff way out here yeah Larry what we've got is some real common current Special Operations pistols I thought we talked about them today do a little work with all right kick it off Ken well let's talk about really a special-operations kind of as we know it today facially this popular it is really kind of kicked off in the 70s when terrorism kicked off in Europe when it's a real big issue so the pistols we picked today kind of represent what's going on in the world today and there's no question about it produced from art side of the pond the handgun that started the whole thing and our Special Operations community particularly the military of course they good old 1911 pistol I went through SOT in 1983 that's essentially exactly the pistol we used a rat great 1911 a1 basically this was a gun in it state is the primary special operation pistol new US Army for a long time and of course the pistol that replaced the m1911a1 within the US military was the m9 beretta nine-millimeter beretta still in service today has worked real well we've got her buddy Dave Harrington here and Esther dave has probably got mortar time with the m9 pistol than anybody I know Dave was involved with developing a handgun for beretta the 92 G SD Super Dave if you would okay some of the problems that we're running into with the m9 was slide traffic you said that the resolution to that was to get to the Brigadier slide I was instrumental in convincing them to develop a light rail frame and that was the first light rail frame they did for the right absolutely absolutely other than the light rail the safety decocker is now just a strict decocker only because the the primary issue with that from m9 standpoint was when he performed immediate action with the m9 you come to the slot and you put the safety on it's a killer gun he did a good job on day all right Kent this is the new Sig mark 25 it's the exact pistol at the US Navy SEALs current issue one thing they had to do because of their constant involvement with saltwater is they've had the number the internal parts the gun had to either be phosphated or galvanized something protecting from saltwater those where's the slide stainless steel the frames aluminum but the most advanced thing about it is of course is it's now got a Picatinny type light rail and it's a true Picatinny rail very nice gun high quality and if you want to own a Sig this is real good pick now we talked about the Sig let's talk about the gun that it replaced in certain special operations unit the browning hi-power yep this gun is set up I know by way Novak Novak's 45 shot and this is essentially an FBI HRT spec Python bingo you know Larry we both know it one time this pistol ruled supreme around the world it was the most commonly encountered service pistol and certainly for a lot of special operations this was a popular gun oh absolutely it still is to this day now this happens to be and you thought 1911 built for me for my collection by a armor out of the weapon shop in Quantico right and it's built to essentially identical standards that the issue to the music Marines now what's interesting is the gun that in in many ways is kind of taking the place of this and replacing it of course now is the Glock it's very easy to pick up a Glock you have no manual safety or grip safety have to worry about the magazine releases in the same spot and then the slide release is essentially in the same spot but a little bit farther back so you take a guy who's cut his teeth on this he can pick up a Glock and really in no time run pretty [ __ ] another trend we've seen special operations as you guys know over the years not only specialized equipment but trying to take something that suits a particular task and make it small or lighter and more effective case in point guys is right here this is the HK 45 compact tactical otherwise known as the mark 24 when you take this gun as you see it with this AAC suppressor this is intended to replace the mark 23 which is a much bigger bulkier gun yeah superbly accurate quality reliable and you want the most impressive things HK guns working with suppressors they're like a natural pretty good of array now granted gang we could have a lot more guns out of it we gather the cz-75 out here there's a lot more guns than honestly are being used around the world by special operations but we wanted kind of an overview and now we got a really good episode ahead for you stand by hey thanks for watching the Vickers tactical YouTube
