Spawning Flatheads (Catching flatheads during spawn)

[Music] alright folks just getting started here it's later in the afternoon beautiful day out got the first flat head of the day and it's got a little tag on West Virginia does a good job of tagging these things but like I said we're we're just getting started today it's pretty much spawn spawns pretty much on or just a bottle one and I'm kind of out here trying to get the last little good days out of it I guess you could say we're concentrating on the rock fishing seems to be kind of tough today this is my second spot and first a little flat headed of cod so but we're going to keep at it see if we can find them still concentrate on these rocks give these rocks a little bit longer and and maybe try to find some really heavy brush maybe in some shallower water see if we can't host more fish out here but I gotta feel it's gonna be a tough fishing day but stay tuned we will see what happens let's get these numbers off this thing and that way we can turn him in we're gonna find out humping a nice fish okay look at the collar all over that beautiful beautiful color once again right here on this little rock ledge not big but a their fly heads and it is burped Wow now that one that one come off just a little tiny piece of cut bait on a five otic you know on a double double hook rigs and you can see the size betta had on there and I just lost our I just missed a nice hit on a live gizzard shad but as hard as these the fish I am catching are hitting it's hard to tell if they're good fish or just you know decent fish like that one right there but nonetheless they're all fun to catch [Music] [Music] there you go number four once again about the same size or about open out all those cookie cutter 810 pound fish but we're starting to get into them maybe we can find a maybe when we find a little better one here later on [Music] we'll just got set up on this little rock ledge before I could even get the camera on get all the rods out have one take me down but he got me right into a snag so he's still on there but I'm going to leave some tension on him try to work him out of it see what happens he seemed like a good it was a good takedown so I think it was a decent fish anyway all right we got him finally guy Milan rocks come on took us 17 minutes what nearly as big as what I thought it was gonna be way he took it down I thought he's gonna be good fish you know he took that they're a nice live nice-size live gizzard shad cut along that demon dragon set up another small small healthy flathead a little tough today now we're out here I'm gonna stay in the earlier we're out here fish and we're trying to get the last little bit of the pre spawning fish but I thank hearing the Cano River you know we got 75 degrees water temperature it's I think it's it's pretty much sealed view I'm I'm convinced that it's pretty much spawn it's almost full one and it's going to be a long couple months so but we're going to keep fishing and see what we can find and see what else we can catch is still good day something else to keep in mind as well we just pulled that fish through them rocks and you know brush or whatever else is down there we need to let some line out and check it make sure it ain't frayed up and my it might be frayed up you know 20 feet into the reel or so something like that so let a little bit of line out reel it up fill it with your fingers and if it needs a needs to cut off and retied retie it it might save you the next one all right here we go another small one they're all about the same size but you guys can see right there on his head you can kind of say the beginning marks whether they're actually starting to sponsor and last fun to catch well there you have it folks where I end up with this little guy right here it's been a it's been a long day you know we really ain't put a whole bunch of fish in the boat no big fish they're all good fish but no big fish but that's part of it you know this time of year the spawn comes around the time the fishing gets real tough and all you can do is try and that's what we did today you know we we stuck with the wood and the heavy rock and just try to catch what we catch and decided to come out here on the hide and see if it's going to be any better fish some of this industry and fish know blowed up flock of damn and it really isn't no better out here either so we're gonna call it that for the day and that you had a good time no matter what so thank you all for watching I hope you learned something please leave a comment you know good or bad what you liked or what you didn't like about the video please remember to hit like and subscribe until next time I'll catch you on the water [Music]
