welcome to Madrid Spain a metropolitan City with beautiful architecture and really diverse food as I shared in my last video I got to my hotel around midnight because my luggage got lost but you know what I was just excited to be able to rest and this is my place for the next 7 days today we are going to explore Madrid it is March and it is cold I woke up literally every hour but this happens to me anytime I travel abroad but Pro tips to fighting jetl is to make sure you're eating meals in the local time get a lot of sunlight in your eyes go out all day long and take no naps or if you do take a nap make sure it's short I know that this project that I'm doing not only a good experience for me but hopefully it's really helpful for you guys so I'll share what it is when I can I have decided to tether my phone to my pants I'll put my jacket over the hotel that the company booked me with gave me breakfast so we had this Buffet every single day there were a lot of pastries a lot of cheese and a lot of deli meat I did not prepare for it to be this cold but I think the wind really adds to that but today we're going to go to the torsi areas to Pou there's a lot to do but I have to be very mindful of my belongings I wasn't sure if I could find the Metro but I found it I feel like once I find the local train station near my accommodations my trip gets a lot easier I saw YouTube videos on how to get a transportation card but I have to go to the multi AI one and then I just changed it to English or British and then picked 10day Journey EX accept and then they also take Apple pay and I could use Apple pay literally everywhere so I didn't have to take out my wallet often or even use cash here in Madrid we just tap the card once and then you go through but then when you exit you don't have to tap again I was able to use Google Maps in Spain and it was very accurate and on time BR the soul is one of Madrid's most famous and bustling City squares I heard it gets really crowded at night time but I wanted to come during the day so I felt a little bit safer alone oh wow it is beautiful here I asked on my instram for some suggestions and one of the most popular places was this Bakery I asked on my Instagram where I should go and a lot of people recommended this Bakery it was founded in 1894 so definitely a lot of history and they are known for this pastry that's very similar to a chocolate croissant they had a ton of other pastries as well and then they accepted cash here I didn't even ask if they take cards so this is the only time I had to use my cash the outside was buttery and Flaky and the inside was a chocolate cream but I did find that it was a little bit too sweet for for me but the journey continued and this was literally Monday morning and I was surprised to see so many people out and about it makes me feel a lot safer but the streets are so cute another eating spot we are off to Marcado de San Miguel which is like a little food Hall Market I started off the morning with Mardo de San Miguel I knew that if I went later it would get really crowded but they just have a variety of food you can literally find everything mad is also known for olives but I don't like olives they also have calamari but this was really expensive all of this was 18 USD and one of the downsides of traveling alone is that I can't try a variety of food because I cannot finish it this calamari was probably the best calamari I've ever had Madrid knows how to do their Seafood where it's not tough and chewy it's super soft and I asked a homeless person if they wanted the rest of my food and they said yes Madrid is also known for Jamon but it's very similar to Pudo but a little bit less salty again I knew I couldn't eat all of this and I could have shared with a homeless person but I decided to just get a sandwich m not too salty the fruit was really calling my name so I caved but it was a bit pricey it was $5 for this little tub in La I can get a giant tub for $5 at a park but the mango here was really sweet next up another very popular spot Chocolat teria San Zin is this chocolate shop that never closes they are open all day and all night so one order has six churos so I had to order all six I could only eat one or two it was delicious but I also am not a huge fan of chocolate but again I offered the rest of my churos to the people sitting next to me they probably thought I was weird but I was truly just trying to be nice and not wasteful but I don't love chocolate and everything here I feel like people just really enjoy the richness of chocolate so if you like chocolate you would like that now we are at the plaza mayor it's a historic Square in the heart of Madrid Spain it's known for its impressive architecture including the casa de la paneria and the statue of King Philip III at its Center the plaza is a focal point for a lot of public Gatherings markets and events for centuries and it's a really popular tourist spot but I could not get over how cute the streets are here in Madrid like just imagine us sitting here having coffee or maybe a smoothie even if I'm cold the streets are so cute I don't mind we are now entering the Royal Palace area the Royal Palace of Madrid is situated in the Heart of the City and it's overlooking a garden a river and it's huge feel like every Park always has so many pigeons I am not a bird [Music] person most people come to Europe for museums and architecture but I'm not really an art museum girl I'll go but I literally just like look at everything I don't read everything to tour inside and to see everything it's about 14 years but I did not go inside but you guys can go inside with my camera there were a lot of tourists here and a lot of tour guys happening but I just wanted to walk around I just love walking culture in other countries other than the us cuz everybody's out and about they're all walking or taking public transportation but I'm getting my steps in today in Just 2 hours I already walked 3 miles and 7,000 steps but I headed over to Plaza de espa where they have some shopping I heard Zara is cheaper here so let's test it out I found this one online in the US it's like $140 while here this is about $85 still pricey but a lot more affordable than the us so I got this vest that's usually $50 for $30 heading over to a cafe I heard that there's always a line it's not really a busy season right now so hopefully there isn't oh yes there is it's called hso Cafe I mean it has over 3,000 reviews so of course there's going to be a lot I found Hano Cafe on Google reviews and I just had to write my name down for a party of one and I was seated in about 15 minutes I got the Turkish eggs which is very similar to a shakshuka and this was the best thing I ate here the flavors were on point and so good at this point I really was not hungry but I wanted to share with you guys some other food options in case you come to Madrid so this place has a diverse option of food they had Asian food here too let's see what food oh it's three stories Madrid is known for their olives and so we're going to go to an olive oil store and see what we find I searched on Reddit to see which olive oil store I should go to and this one was mentioned and the guy let me try out a bunch of olive oils to taste I got two bottles of olive oil and they're also known for chapstick here and then he told me to have a nice trip and I said you too what's so crazy is is I forget that here they don't have like a screen it's just open hook it right there ta so that's how we get some fresh air in here Madrid has one of the best tap water and I did find that when I showered my hair was not falling out as much we are off to dinner there are a lot of families and kids out it is 5:54 so I guess this is when they're either getting dinner or they got out of school but that's kind of late if they just got out having my pass clipped onto my and then also having my phone clipped on made me feel very safe and I didn't have to worry about anything we are in Salam Mona and this station is so big Salam Mona is like an upscale neighborhood I would AC it to the Beverly Hills of Los Angeles and someone on my Instagram recommended on a screens and shout out to you because I had this three times while I was in Madrid in Los Angeles we have something called sweet green and then we have Urban Plates and they feel like on a screen was a happy little marriage between the two I had the fulla with a salad and then a bread but I do feel like I feel Fuller from Rice than just from a piece of bread I walked around a little bit more after dinner just to sightsee and to go into any shops and then I actually had to rush back to my hotel because I had to teach all righty so so we want to move forward so how many times do we have to move forward in order to to collect all of them okay and today was the day of my secret project and I was so excited but also nervous I did Vlog it so I will make sure to post that when the project comes out I love this walk to work it is 36° but I don't mind it because the sun is out and I just love walking culture there's so many people out right now just walking to work or walking wherever they need to [Music] go they catered food for us so we're eating out in the balcony [Music] area would be fun you talking now and saying oh my God this is being horrible this as I died we are eating at this restaurant that had a lot of reviews and I'm so so excited to have their Seafood this restaurant was one of the sweetest experiences they gave me so much food because I was eating by myself and the waiter was just very very kind people in Europe really love their bread but I had this corn cake and I spread it over my little christinis I ordered some fresh scallop and then I also got some octopus but he brought over these cod fish cakes that were so [Music] bomb again people in Spain know how to do Seafood because this octopus was so tender it was not chewy whatsoever oh my goodness so good oh my gosh he just gave me free [Music] cheesecake I then had another day of work and the Lord really blessed me with the best team need balance no I me did you eat the one we were supposed to take 4 days but we ended up being so efficient we finished in three which gave me an extra day that's a video amazing are going to grab some seafood it is raining and I'm so cold but we're doing it a lot of restaurants in Spain will close after lunch which is 2:30ish and then they'll open again late at night so this was the latest dinner I had there were actually a lot of tourists on Google reviews they said that this was a local spot but I think you know people like me we all found it I had way too much Seafood by myself but I did it that was so good but really chaotic cuz it was so crowded in there well definitely eat it again but I feel like I need more food because I didn't have any carbs it was just straight up Seafood okay well I'm going to head back to the hotel so cold right now but I love walking out especially when it's cold it's just truly reminds me of what winter is supposed to be like cuz in La it is still on the warmer side I wanted to head over to El rtio Park but they were closed in the morning for some reason but this whole area was a Vibe The Vibes were [Music] [Music] vibing there are a lot of people who smoke here like on every [Music] street [Music] I headed over to hanana laca which was a place that a lot of people recommended to me and their Tortilla de patas were so delicious I do recommend making reservations if you do come here because it gets very crowded the waiter also recommended this tuna KATU which was a very elevated sandwich I was struggling a little bit to finish it but then I also ordered a crab sandwich and I think the waiter was shocked and I just love to eat and travel so that all righty that has been Madrid I literally just ate a lot and looked at all beautiful buildings and any place that I could go by myself and I did notice that the waiters were really catering to me just cuz I was alone probably they knew I would clear the table faster but I would say the food here is like a 6 and 1/2 to 7 out of 10 consistently that's cuz you know I'm from LA where food is just phenomenal but Spain is beautiful and everyone was really really nice loved the project I worked on the team I was with and yeah I'm just so thankful for you guys for allowing me to even do this so if you like what you see please like And subscribe and press that like button and if you made it all the way here you are a real one always bye [Music]
