Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
not just any sommelier. Andre H. Mack, former Per Se Head Sommelier, winemaker, and all-around badass.
He was VERY nice and polite about a lot of these wines lol
This was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing
I have a shirt from him. “CORNAS EXTRA”
...little did I know when it ordered it that on the back it says,
“I went to the Rhone Valley and caught the Clape!”
Fun Vid! Not surprised the cheap american reds were sugar bombs
A lot of people here taking issue with the "Tasting notes are bullshit" line. Most of us here understand what he means by this: let your palate be the judge. I think he could've done a better job of explaining that since this video is geared towards novice wine drinkers. He is very likeable and relatable, so his words are going to carry weight with these novices (rightfully so IMO, this guy is awesome).
The problem with this blanket statement is the next time the novice goes to buy a bottle and asks for a recommendation. The server or steward very likely would begin by giving tasting notes, and the novice is going to remember this and parrot: "tasting notes are bullshit!"
Poor use of a phrase that he could've elaborated on better.
If I’m shopping under $20 reds it’s most likely a Columbia Valley cab, Willamette Pinot, or Walla Walla Syrah.
Shout out to Campo Viejo! That was an on the whim grocery store buy for me, and it opened me up to the wonderful world of Riojas.
Too bad I don't think he liked it all that much.
I've had Snoop's 19 Crimes. It was ghastly. Anything over $10 for it should be called larceny.
