- What's up guys and welcome back. This is a recent package sent to me from my friends over at Puzzle Master. Various different levels of difficulty, and today we're going to
try and solve one of them. I'm actually waiting on some
really incredible puzzles that I probably paid
way too much money for, but that will be great
to figure out, hopefully. I've been let down in the
past by expensive puzzles (laughing) but hopefully,
this is the redemption piece. Anyways, we're going to look
at one of these puzzles. Before we do I got some
packages in the mail. Just right quickly I'm
gonna open 'em up quick and see what we got. This is from Casey, your handwriting, Casey I'm gonna read this
off-camera so thank you for that. Casey sent me a coin,
pretty cool, thank you. Hope you guys enjoyed
the last video I put out, check it out, leave it
in your To Watch list if you haven't yet. I thought it was pretty good and it was a lot of fun to edit. Millennium, Luxury Edition. I don't know if you can catch that with the glare of the camera, there ya go. Well thank you very much anonymous donor. Oh this is from Michael Stern. Do not show until September 21st. These are the brick box for the V-1's that he promised me so long
ago, that he finally sent me. Thank you Michael Stern. Alright, that concludes
my crappy unboxing, um, today's puzzle. This is the Cast Padlock puzzle. The whole point of this puzzle, again, is to take it apart and to
put it back together again. This puzzle looks like a regular padlock, but it won't open so easily. The inside's made of two elliptical pieces tightly locked around the circular pieces, and are very difficult
to release, apparently. So it says "Don't give up! (chuckling) "Try to take them apart "and put them back together
again several times." Designed by Jin-Hoo Ahn from Korea. So this being a level 5 out of 6, we could say potentially, that's probably around a level
8, level 7, level 8 puzzle. Hanayama are known for
their tactile puzzles and their difficulty rating. Alright guys, (loudly exhales) let's go. Time to start the clock, let's go. Padlock, huh?
(relaxing trip-hop music) So, there are these two
pieces in the middle that seem to swivel around,
which both have openings. There are also two
half-pieces on each side which look like they're
connected, so. (metal clinking) As you can see. So the idea here would
be to take it all apart. See if we can turn them in a way, no? Not exactly sure where they
have to go through, okay. So let's drop down a little bit. Bam, oh my god, okay, that is now open. This slides through here, so now hm. (slowly sighs) Alright let's get back to that point where they both kind of
went open. (metal rattling) Trying to see what the inside of these mechanisms look like. That's cool, look at that. So that probably has to do with something. Let's see, okay there
seems to be a gap here. Now that's closed again. So opening it is this way, right there. And then close, okay. (puzzle snapping) Trying to see if this opening hole, if I can get anything out of there. Hm, now you wanna open
it again, let's open it. (metal rattling) I think it has to also do with the height, so if I lift it, I can
possibly maneuver it around. Because there are these little
grooves here, right there. So I'm pretty sure I can like, lift it, and manipulate it out somehow. Now there's an opening here, how do I get it through that opening? Okay, now we're in this position. Which I think is good. These things seem to
want to slide apart, yes. No, now we're back to the beginning. It seems (chuckling) like we're back at the beginning anyways, I don't know. Hm (metal clanking) Just when you think you have
it, back to the beginning. We try spinning it. Watch it just fall apart
after that. (chuckling) Try banging it, ah doesn't
seem like one of those. Hm, so I definitely
think it has something, whoa! (puzzle clanking)
Jesus Chri (laughing), I definitely think it has something to do with this opening here. Okay, so the difference
here that I've seen, is that if you push up or down, it changes where the puzzle ends up going. So, for instance, if I
push up on the left side, and try to close it, we're
left in this position. But if I push down and try to close it, we're left in this position. So what do we do from here? See what I mean? So I'm gonna try to line up those holes is what I'm gonna try to do right now. I see the exit, I see
it wanting to come out of that hole right now. See, that's kinda getting stuck there. I don't know if I should
just shimmy it through, why won't it come out? Oh, oh. Hold on. Okay, so that's half way out right now and this is like half way solved, look. As you can see, that little black portion on the inside is outside of that hole now. Now, the only thing left to do, No, don't wanna go back, I
do not wanna go back I said. Now probably has something to do with pushing up and
down. (puzzle clinking) Who comes up with these things? Sorry, I just had a burst
of what the F is happening? (relaxing trip-hop music) So that can come out there,
but then that closes. (loudly sighs) This
piece is on the outside, how can I get it through the other one without closing it up again? If I turn this, this piece goes up. And if I push this up, the
whole thing closes again. How do I get 'em both out? Gonna line up both holes I guess. So I'm in the wrong configuration. (frustrated growling) I think I'm back at the
beginning (laughing) oh man. Okay, one of the holes
is on the outside here. Where they were both on
the outside at first, then both on the inside, now it seems like one of them is on the outside. Let's try, let's try aligning these now. It looks promising, no
'cause now both are on the, how do the holes get back on
the inside? (loudly exhales) So if I, mm, (growling) So I can loosen it up like this, and that gives me this weird, hold on, here, come on. Bringin' to this weird configuration here. The holes on the outside, now it seems like that
hole needs to stay there, but I can't do that without closing. And if I close it, it
goes back on the inside no matter how I try to close it. (metal clanking) Both holes on the inside. Again with one hole on the outside, hm. I'm back out with one side, one side open, one side closed. One open, one closed. Now that that's done, I'm
hoping there are no more steps. I'm hoping I can just align the two holes. No, how did I lose that hole? No, no, how am I back here again? This makes no sense. This is supposed to push
down and then go back in because that's just
exactly what it just did. I think at this point
I'm actually very close. I keep trying to align the
holes on the same side, I'm going to try and align
them a little differently. I don't know if that will work. I feel like I've come a long way. Hm. (loudly sighs) How? I don't understand this puzzle! Let's try this one more
time, before I give up. It's one of those puzzles
I wish I never started. This is super frustrating. 'Cause I feel like, you know
what I feel like right now? I feel like this puzzle
is working against me. I think there's forces at work (laughing) that don't want me to solve this puzzle. I've done moves that I can't replicate because it seems like they're stuck now. Even though I'm doing the
exact same thing I did before. And so that's really frustrating, 'cause I'm just tryin' to get
back to that one move I did where I had one of these sides
open and one of them closed. Okay, so both sides are closed. If I line this up here,
and I pull this out, see how one side's open? Now I should be able to close this and keep that one side open,
but it's not letting me for some reason. I feel like forcing, but I won't. But I really feel like
forcing it, but I won't. Padlock's a pain in the butt. Why won't you go down?
(frustrated growling) I need to get both of these
holes, I think, on the outside. Okay. (metal clinking) A-ha, a-ha hah hah. This is really trying
my patience right now. Oh, my, god! (laughing) Yay, oh my god! (laughing) I was goin' nuts, I was goin' nuts! I was officially about
to lose my, lose my cool. Oh god, wow, wow. Okay, now putting this (laughing) oh god. Oh I gotta put this back
together. (hands clap) Here we go, boop. I don't even know where to start. Okay, boom, that's there. Then I have to do that
circle thingy again. Where's that circle thing? Nope, that comes apart. (chuckling) I can get it apart real
easily now, apparently. Flip it on the other side. There we go. That is it. Once I figured out how to undo it, after about 45 minutes of tinkering, the solution is quite practical. There is a little bit
of give here and there with the grooves right there, to get that one piece out. Boom, look how satisfying that is. Such a great little
move, great little nook. Now, there we go, back to the beginning. Back to both pieces on the outside. Ladies and gentlemen, that is the padlock, just under an hour, boom. Alright guys that's it for me. Thank you so much for watching this video, I'm glad I finally got that puzzle done. Like this video, smash like
if you do enjoy this content, and subscribe if you want to see more. We've got some really,
oh my god. (chuckling) Little bit of a teaser, my buddies Wes Parker and Alex Boyer are coming here this weekend, and we are filming something epic, epic. Stay tuned for that. Peace out. (relaxing trip-hop music)
