[Music] welcome back to this week's fastest minute in construction i'm nate beck daily reporter staff writer let's dig into the news state regulators on thursday signed off on a 450 million dollar solar farm in southern wisconsin the wisconsin public service commission approved construction of the darien solar energy center which includes 250 megawatts of solar and a 75 megawatt battery storage facility utilities we energies and wisconsin public service would own the bulk of the solar array which is slated to occupy more than 2 000 acres in rock and walworth counties the project is the third such solar farm the utilities have announced plans to purchase this year construction is expected to get underway later this year and wrap up in 2023 a california company is planning to build a 30 million dollar factory in sheboygan that would produce up to 1 000 modular homes a year s2a modular recently reached a deal to buy 40 acres of land in a sheboygan business park for one of four factories nationwide that would build pre-fabricated homes the company chose to locate in sheboygan because of its proximity to markets in green bay madison and north of chicago that have an acute need for affordable housing the company is expected to employ about 250 workers with a background in the construction trades to build its modular homes work on the factory could begin late this year if the firm secures local approvals that's it for this week's punch list we'll see you next week
