well well well look who we have here the little baby Street squid is researching leader bikes again much like peeking behind the beaded curtain at the video rental store in 2002 let this video arouse your more deviant desires leader bikes on the street how absolutely scandalous powerful motorcycles are a slippery slope with each bump and display harder for many declaration just there's no reason to have a 1000 cc sport bike for Street use there are countless Riders who choose to do so and many others who see a leader bike as their motorcycle white whale is it ego is it hubris would Icarus ride a leader bike to redline on the street and melt his wax in cylinders today we're going to talk about everything you need to know about leader bikes on today's episode of 1000 cubes sport bike dude yammy Noob let's get into it so what is a leader bike for the metrically challenged here in the good old us of a our perception of leaders is limited to the quantity of Mountain Dew that is consumed on a daily basis but in terms of engine displacement a leader refers to 1000 cc's or 9.99 or 9.98 but we'll get into that later to Harley Cruiser guys 1000 cc's might still fall in the girls bike category but for us literate motorcyclists leader bikes refer to one of the upper echelons of motorcycling as far as performance and capability in motorcycle racing such as Moto GP or world superbike 1000 cc's is the maximum engine capacity permitted for four-cylinder engines this evolved over the years as cultural shifts and Rule changes impacted the sport and motorcycle racing for example in 2002 990cc four-stroke machines were permitted to race alongside 500cc two-stroke engines in the MotoGP class these larger displacement four-stroke engines began to replace all the two-stroke motorcycles entirely and by 2012 the capacity limit was raised to 1000 cc's where it is today unlike purpose-built race machines using Moto GP that are like one-off Factory bikes the motorcycle used is world superbike are based on production model motorcycles that are then tuned and modified to be as race-worthy as possible falling under a bunch of homologated rules world superbike have similar capacity limitations of 1000 cc for four-cylinder engines although they do have the caveat of allowing 1200 CC's for twin cylinder engines thanks to Ducati going Karen mode and asking to speak to the manager in 2007 because they no longer produced a motorcycle with a 999cc twin engine as a result when the rules were changed to allow up to 1200cc engines for two and cylinder bikes and Ducati was able to raise their 1098 Superbike I guess that poses as good an opportunity as any to discuss the Allure of four-cylinder motorcycle engines there must be advantages to that engine architecture if two cylinder engines would be granted an additional 200 ccs to work with in Superbike not to mention that a screaming four-cylinder engine is an important element of elite Elite vantages for motorcycle racing because of the way that the power can continue to rev out and make power until the top of the Rev range this powerband is related to the bore and Stroke of the engine a four-cylinder engine designed for use in a sport bike whether it be a 600 or a liter bike will have a square or over Square bore and stroke this means that the diameter of the Pistons is larger than the stroke of the engine allowing the Pistons to rev to a high red line you can contrast this to a V-Twin Cruiser engine with an under square design that has a stroke longer than the diameter of the bore meaning the engine cannot rev high but it will make more immediate torque as a result of the downward force on the crank so four-cylinder bikes are able to make a lot of top end power and they typically make low down torque than a motorcycle with a different engine design Ducati and Honda have both had a ton of success using V-Twin or V4 engines in their race bikes which strike a balance between high revving power and broader torque spread now listen everybody we're talking about leader bikes here on the channel but I want to clue you into a really fun motorcycle that honestly is going to teach you how to be a better Rider it's the ninja 400 you may have seen that we did a three-day giveaway Extravaganza with a ninja 400 but we are back giving away another ninja 400 that's right I picked up another one it's replacing our KTM rc390 as our new beginner bike giveaway so if you wanted to start off on a clapped out R1 I'm sorry this is the giveaway you should actually enter and for this week only go ahead and purchase anything on yemenu.com you're going to get Max entries for the month to win this bike so don't miss out go to gamingube.com check out our ninja 400 giveaway or if you really want to we are giving away an H2 as well that's a thousand cc bike kind of a leader bike supercharged pretty sweet go and check that out now back to the video the way leader bikes generally make their power is one of the few reasons they are not ideal for Street use granted a leader bike will have far more immediate torque than a 600 class sport bike thanks to the extra displacement but you'll still never come close to being able to take full advantage of everything that engine has to offer I mean you could theoretically never leave first gear on a leader bike when riding in most traffics situations I mean seriously we've had a ton of leader bikes here on the channel I've owned them for several of the giveaways and the Honda Fireblade CBR1000 triple RSP I think first gear ended at like 94 miles an hour you could literally ride in just first gear it's it's insane a thousand CC Sport bike is designed for the sport of motorcycle racing thus the riding position is designed for an athletic pilot to be tucked into the pocket as they lean the bike over from side to side on a track in very extreme conditions there are very few circumstances in which this would be at all preferable to a more relaxing sport touring position for Street Duty similarly a leader bike although featuring fully adjustable suspension will not really be tuned or dialed for Comfort on rough city streets outside of the ergonomics package leader bikes will also lack the Creature Comforts that make a motorcycle comfortable for sustained riding like wind protection suitable passenger accommodations or reasonable luggage options motorcycle racing is a sport that requires specific equipment riding a super sport motorcycle on the street is the equivalent of wearing a full set of football pads in your daily life sure you will be well equipped if you need to tackle a running back in the grocery store but the chances of that happening are non-existent and instead you'll just look like a goon in a costume but alas plenty of people still commit to the leader bike use on the street because you gotta go fast I I get it that's why you all want to do this so let's take a quick look at some popular leader bikes as well as some alternative options for the most part Japanese race bikes are pretty similar so to save you all for the monotony I will not detail each one you can sort of just interpret the details and imagine them in your favorite team's colors but our representative for this segment will be the ZX10R not to say that the ninja trumps all of the leader bikes on the big four but we've had a lot of Kawasaki content on the channel so we'll just roll with it seriously three of our giveaway bikes right now or Kawasaki's it's crazy the ZX10R is designed in the archetype of most modern leader bikes it has a 998 CC four-cylinder engine making power to the tune of 203 horsepower and 84 foot-pounds of torque because every leader bike needs to make over 200 horsepower now because otherwise what is the point and in order to control a motorcycle with this much power you gotta have Top Line braking and suspension components the ZX10 Double R has show a suspension in the front as well as Brembo brakes and the year of our yam 2023 you cannot sell a leader bike without a tech package 100 times more advanced than the computer system used by NASA to land Apollo 11 on the moon within this Tech package you will find power modes traction control Corner control engine brake control intelligent ABS as opposed to dumb ABS launch control a TFT display and a quick shifter you will find each liter bike from the rest of the big four tends to follow the similar archetype with maybe each sacrificing a feature or two for the sake of a cheaper price tag Suzuki one of the most notable differences amongst Japanese leader bikes is the use of the cross-plane crank design in the engine in the Yamaha R1 this engine design has many advantages in terms of power delivery and reduction of inertial torque but also creates an amazing exhaust note with a lot more character than your standard inline 4. a brand new Japanese leader bike will tend to run you between 16 and 18 000 bucks MSRP then there's always the true Enthusiast trim models like the Fireblade or the r1m that will have even higher end components and carbon fiber farkles and a higher price tag as far as European leader bikes go there are the BMW S1000RR and the Ducati panigale and the Aprilia rsv4 if you're at all familiar with the channel here you know I've had a bone to pick with the S1000RR for years now it's just too clinical and soulless and the people who are romanticized about owning one but could never afford it are just as insufferable as those who do ride one and won't shut up about it so if you've made it this far into the video and you still want a leader bike and a BMW s1000 Double R at that you are beyond my help so I'm going to give you the cliff notes version 999cc four-cylinder 205 horsepower 83 pounds of torque and more Tech than a bankrupt Radio Shack it'll run you like 20 to 25k depending on the options you'll end up paying for one semester of college for the service technician's children every time you drop it off at a dealer for work speaking of expensive service Ducati has the panigale V2 V4 and v4r the V2 has only 955 CC's engine and it's a twin and the V4 has an 1103 cc engine are either of these bikes officially leader bikes I don't know but I do know they exist as motorcycles derived from motorcycle racing which at the heart is the core of the leader bike ideology I will say I don't really consider the V2 a leader bike but that's also because our perception of what a leader bike is has deviated so far from the collective imagination of motorcycling like in what world is 155 horsepower 955 cc motorcycle not a liter bike I mean I'm pretty sure a Suzuki Gixxer thousand from 2006 made about 170 horsepower but the concept basically is like in order to be a leader bike it needs four cylinders and it needs to make like over 160 horsepower that's kind of like the idea there the panigale v4r uses a smaller 998 cc engine that is tuned and modified to make crazy amounts of power specifically to me capacity requirements in wsbk that's like a whole other bag of worms you don't want a pentagon v4r it's like 40 Grand and it's literally a race bike you don't want that bike the Pentagon V2 makes 155 horsepower and 77 foot-pounds of torque and costs just over 18 Grand MSRP the Panic V4 makes 210 horsepower and 91 foot-pounds of torque and cost 25 500 in the base trim and the fully goated race spec pentagoli v4r makes 237 horsepower and 82 foot-pounds of torque with a price tag of 45 Grand it's almost as if the v4r exists exclusively to be a platform for world superbike racing but you didn't hear it from me there are of course open class motorcycles as well that are designed in sport bike fashion but don't meet the capacity restrictions for motorcycle racing these are bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja H2 or the ZX14 or the high of freaking Busa each employing very large engine capacities or in the instance of the H2 a factory supercharger sold alongside normal leader bikes are also sport touring bikes which take the thrill and exciting package of a race-oriented motorcycle and modify it to be comfortable in sustained use on city streets a sport touring black will have modifications to engine performance to improve low end accessible power at the expense of top end and will have more comfortable seating ergonomics and Creature Comforts as well since we already spoke about the ZX10R from Kawasaki an easy bike to compare it to is the Ninja 1000sx since not restricted by any capacity restrictions like the ZX10R this bike uses a 1043 CC inline 4 engine making 140 horsepower and 82 foot-pounds of torque while down about 60 ponies from the ZX10R you'll find the power is a lot more accessible on the 1000 SX reaching Peak torque at 8000 RPM and Peak horsepower at 10 000 compared to 11 400 and 13 200 RPMs on the ZX10R the 1000 SX has many of the advanced Tech features that you'll find on the ZX10 as well when opting for a sport touring bike you may sacrifice top end power but you won't be really making any compromises will affect normal riding and it will be much more comfortable to ride and cost quite a bit less than a dedicated race bike the MSRP for the Ninja 1000 SX is just thirteen thousand two hundred dollars some other noteworthy sport oriented sport touring bikes are the Suzuki gixxus 1000 GT or even the Kawasaki h2sx if you're financially equipped enough to indulge in some supercharged goodness and of course there are naked bikes that have 1000cc engines and more the style of motorcycle that has been campaigning for the sport bikes Extinction for nearly 10 years naked bikes are far more varied than a traditional sport bike and suitable for all types of riding but if you're watching a leader bike video the best chance I have from dissuading you from the leader bike squid life is by schlepping some of my favorite hyper naked motorcycles look I get it I like going fast and committing squidly ax as much as the next guy but it is not 2008 anymore my guy you've got options better suited for street riding than a super sport motorcycle you've got bikes like the KTM Super Duke 1290 that makes 180 horsepower and 103 foot-pounds of torque from its 1301 CC v twin engine is it a leader bike nah it's a 1.3 liter bike it's even better and if you're dedicated to the inline for Life there is the Yamaha mt10 which still uses the awesome cross plane 4-cylinder from the R1 but in a comfortable Street Fighter style or even the humble CB 1000r that I wrote last month that left me very impressed my point being that the value proposition for 1000 cc sport bikes is diminishing an Allure when there are so many other options for bikes that are more comfortable and practical and equally stupidly fast for the places where 99 of riders will take them so if you're dead set on a leader bike with fairings go for it truthfully I don't really care what you ride honestly and I say that with love unless it's an s1000 Double R in that case you can get the hell out of here and not come back just kidding but really I do enjoy stupidly fast and practical sport bikes every now and then too but like I said it's 2023 your options are boundless and maybe it's time to realign your value system and take leader bikes down a peg or two and the ranks of best coolest or fastest motorcycles ever made because let's be honest we all know CVT scooters are truly the most goaded two-wheel machines thanks for making it to the end of the video be sure to subscribe if you like this video and let me know down below if you think leader bikes are overhyped or not catch you later fact in early 20th century a man named tarare gained Fame for his extraordinary appetite and bizarre eating habits he could consume enormous amounts of food including live animals stones and even whole baskets of apples despite his insatiable hunger tarare remained remarkably thin his unusual condition and even had it to remain a mystery to this day as he was never diagnosed with a specific medical condition goodbye well look at you you've made it to the end of another yammy Noob video you should consider yourself pretty lucky because I have curated this one right over here for you to continue watching it's probably just as good as the one you just saw unless you hated the one you just saw I don't know maybe leave me a comment down below about how you much you hated it as well too or just keep watching this one make sure you keep watching Amy Noob don't forget to keep watching yammy knew that's the most important thing keep watching Amy noob
