[Music] we are back to working on the triumph today and today is all about fixing our little problems seeing if we can't get it running right before we do the bigger problems yeah we're gonna try to shipping up the bracket for the supercharger so we're gonna end up drilling the hole here and then making another brace that goes down to this engine now [Music] the stiffener bracket for the supercharger pretty simple now we'll just get Ethan over here and things going on today guys we had to dig the engine mount out of the tribe so we can cut off one of the brackets that we were trying to support the supercharger with it just wasn't working so we're gonna make make any bracket with why we have the mouth out we decided to do some under welds we just kind of did Ethan to the outside of it so I'm getting welding practice on the underside we won't be visible then take off the tire and make the single thermal exhaust on and see if that helps they're gonna live in that area [Music] [Music] so we got everything set up out here very scientific experiment going on the old welding rack turns out it's the perfect height to hold up the exhaust so we got the headers and the muffler going on we got fuel with octane booster we got the supercharger belt all tight and now we're gonna test it out and see if we can actually rev it out so we were looking at check engine codes online and apparently the heat grips can set off a check engine light so we're gonna pay attention and see what it's telling us is wrong but the main thing is it's just see if we can get it to rev out [Laughter] oh so that means grip heaters so that didn't help at all no so the coil stuff didn't help at all we basically our last-ditch straight because we're gonna clean the carbs check all the wiring it looks like there's a wire that goes to every carb and then we'll check the throttle position sensor why we have this out and check continuity there and make sure the wires are good and then try again and see if that does it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] the carb is clean and back in we checked all the wires didn't find anything fishy so hopefully part of our problems the dirty carb [Applause] [Music] yeah I don't leave Rebs to 7,000 no matter how long you hold your foot on the floor just sit there going on sure solution is there is no conclusion yeah it runs really good at low rpms but it will not rub out so our efforts have failed I think it's time to go look on some forms yeah this isn't the problem I expected this to have that the triumph but I've never pulled an engine out of something put it in something else I've had it just straight up not work like we've done a lot of engine swaps here the original Barbie car the scooter the Odyssey the Jeep well the Camaro we haven't started yet we can't say anything about that but all of those like aside from like oh I didn't have this connected or whatever like they just worked every time and this one's just like nah back under the hood and the stupid triumph yep that's its new name the stupid triumph so our friend Casey was up again yesterday and he and I worked on this thing off and on all day we tried basically everything we could think of nothing made any difference we put new spark plugs in it we cleaned the carburetors took them apart checked everything all the carburetors are everything's working right on the carburetors the superchargers building the appropriate amount of boost we check the fuel pressure that's accurate the fuel pressure regulators working the fuel pumps working right and bottom line everything is the same as it was in the snowmobile essentially so and it still won't wrap out properly it does run quite a bit better with all the supercharger hooked up so just naturally aspirated we tested that briefly to confirm that theory it didn't unperfect but it shouldn't because it's spilling halfway set up for a super jury we just I've heard the boos line anyway so the only thing we didn't try yesterday cuz we ran all the time is different jets so we have a few options for jets here we're gonna throw some in there there's no reason it should need different jets cuz it's like the same temperature we ran it when we had the snowmobile running it's everything's the same but it's the last thing to try so we'll give it a shot [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] alright we changed up the Jets and the triumph this is our last test if this doesn't work I'm gonna drop off the supercharger run at n/a and then just work on the rest of the build because we've been at this for I mean months hopefully it just works yeah I mean there's a chance there's a chance it was just jetted to lean I mean there's a chance it was also too rich and we can see if there's any leaner jets here but we'll try to rich or jets and see what does [Music] so for this test drive I decided to go with at least one safety feature a key that I can shut off so I know we got about a thousand comments about the drive line being dangerous which it is we're gonna take care of that very soon but seeing as how we're testing it on frozen dirt we don't have enough traction for me to be worried about this snapping it's also not the weakest link so I'll probably survive all right so the Jets did seem to make it run a little bit better but it's kind of hard to tell in the garage so time for a test drive and I'm gonna be wearing earplugs and earmuffs that's how loud this thing is it's kind of terribly loud but it does sound pretty cool it sounds good but it needs a muffler real bad well that sounds like it's back to running terrible but we'll see after it warms up it sounds any better oh it's making a little more power I think [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] the truth comes out one of the main reasons we actually move the rally track so we can film from the treehouse bridge because it's important oh yeah looks super cool from up here [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] got a weld that death yeah good enough to be good now definitely not perfect but it's good enough that like if everything else was good the power would be good they make everything else better step one some scatter shields and driveline protection and some minor improvements on the rear drive longer drivetrain just to make it better until we fully upgraded and then well the throttles a little stinky so we'll have to work on that sticky throttle when you have that much power at this terrible of a car bad thing so the engine seems to be working out all right now it's time to make everything else work that was the UH that was by far the slowest track laughs I've overdone and simultaneously is the most frightening thing is just terrifying to drive it feels like at any point the doors might fall off have no seat belt you know the clutch and all of this stuff isn't really that scary like you're focused on driving you don't notice that but the steering is decent but the suspension is horrible the brakes are horrible also we're doing a rally track on the world's smallest street tires yeah so also your lens has like a pound of dirt in it oh yeah it looks cool it fits our vibe yep well maybe next episode either build some exhaust and get some tires and see what happens yeah and go test it on the street definitely we should keep these tires on it for the first Street test because that way we won't have too much traction it won't break yeah and then we'll just dust them off [Music] so we've been waiting for this a long time the triumphs finally kind of working right so we've got some major improvements to do to make it a little safer before we take it on the street but it is treatable where you're a little excited about our next project though so we're gonna go ahead and start our next project and then get back to this well plus winter is coming and this thing's gonna be very much not useful and we're and our new project is gonna be the coolest thing we've ever done I think so I mean it's up to interpretation very subjective but I think it's gonna be the coolest you guys aren't even gonna be thinking about the triumphs this winter but come spring it's gonna get rowdy yep we'll take it to autocross it'll be a blast [Applause] [Music]
