hi everyone welcome to conference play I'm Katherine I'd like to thank everyone for coming to my show today I'm going to be keeping it simple easy and delicious for you by making a homemade version of sloppy joes you know I can work with this recipe with my mom making it for us all the time I've taken over that recipe and I'm telling you what there's no cans involved with this y'all okay just pantry items some fresh items ground beef we're gonna put it all together oh my gosh you're gonna be amazed okay so hit that like button and if you're new to my channel make sure you hit that subscribe button down below with the bail notification you'll always know when my shows are posted all right y'all let's get started making sloppy joes okay so we're gonna go over all the ingredients we're gonna need to make our sloppy joes I have one pound of ground beef I have some onion and pepper that I'm going to be dicing up salt pepper some brown sugar ketchup garlic powder whoosh a shire and mustard all right y'all the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna go ahead and get our pan nice and hot and we're gonna add some oil to it now I'm using an 80/20 ground chuck for my meat here we're gonna go ahead and put that in let me start breaking the meat down and I've got a handy stand these little meat chopper here that I love to use for my Brown to me like ground chicken ground turkey ground beef over here to our pepper and onions alright y'all pulled this one out of my garden this morning I'm so excited to be going out there and finding like tomatoes and peppers oh yeah alright so all I'm gonna do is take the sides off don't smell so good I mean it is amazing the smell between a pepper from your store and a pepper from your garden is unbelievable oh my gosh alright I'm gonna cut these in strips I'm gonna put the peppers in first because they take a little bit longer to cook so all you're doing this to make sure you're checking your meat breaking it up looking really good in there alright so we're gonna take our peppers and turn them the other way and then I'm just going to dice them now I've heard that you know people some people don't like peppers in theirs and that's totally fine y'all you don't have to put them in there for you don't want to I grew up with peppers being in my sloppy joes so in they go I love this tool here y'all because it picks up a lot of stuff let's check that let's go over here make sure all the meat is breaking up now I've got my onion here it's gonna cut off the end now just cut it in half peel off that outside layer go alright so what I do is I take my onion and I make slices all the way around the onion about 3/4 of the way to the end we don't want to go all the way to the en and cut the onion in half alright just 3/4 of the way in big slices very carefully then I turn it over on it's in the end this hasn't been cut through and make about a few slices 1 2 3 just like that then we're gonna drive our knife through and make our dices just like that make sure these are all cut I'm gonna add that to our meat and this will all cook together until that meat is all browned up [Applause] my meat is all chopped up really good go ahead and bring a wooden spoon to it flyway onion we're gonna go ahead now and finish browning up our meat while we're walking down our peppers and onions they want them soft and we want the onions to be translucent all the good stuff here all right so y'all tell me what you like leaders Papa Joe's 16 is going in we are going to salt and pepper now these readers won't be just y'all and sloppy joes are very merciful with seasonings and flavorings I mean I don't usually use a recipe because I know what to put in it and how we like it so but I will kind of give you an estimate of they're right together salt and pepper in there that's looking good we're going to clean some garlic powder I like a little garlic in mine pop of this so just sprinkle some garlic in there all right now I had butcher Shire I like that flavor just a dribble it's what I put in it about half a teaspoon going along right you kind of know where you're going what you want to put in there and what you don't want to put in there all right next we're going to add some mustard all right let's shake it up because I'm gonna get that watery stuff that comes out on there first fill with mustard nice drizzle so now my feet now I do right so brown sugar mine is a little sweetener now I just use one tablespoon and like I said you can put whatever you want in there if you don't want any of that in there then don't put it there not going more in there y'all it's your taste it's one of those dishes it's smelling good at all y'all ready to smoke together there one cup of ketchup you get some water for that so I got a quarter cup of water going in oh yeah we're gonna be tasting this before we simmer this to make sure that we have all the flavors in there that we want and as much as we want oh my gosh is smelling so good y'all I'd like to use the 80/20 ground shots because it doesn't produce a lot of fat and it just gets absorbed into the vegetables if you add onions and peppers so there's probably any grease to remove from your pan oh my gosh oh it smells so good look at that I'm gonna go ahead and taste this now that I got a really good mix on here a little low right now okay we're gonna try it see if we need to add any flavors you know that takes me back that takes me back years but it takes me back home when I was younger my mom would make these my dad loves sloppy joes so we never make sloppy joes out of ham but I can tell you when I grew up and got married you know you always want to try those shortcuts and I tried that manwich stuff or something and some people they like it we don't like it so making your own you saw how simple and easy this was all right y'all get all these flavors blend it into our meat mixture here into our sloppy joes we're going to go ahead and simmer this for about 20 minutes now while that's simmering it's a good time to figure out what you want to eat with it now we're going to have tater tots with it that I picked up from Trader Joe's and you know that was on my haul all right so when we get my tater tots ready and then wait till you see what I do with the funds somebody views our sloppy joes we'll be back all right y'all what I like to do with my buns since my sloppy joes are done and they're just cooling down just a little bit probably take my cap off of my pepper here there we go like just to add a little bit of butter to each bun and then I like to light very lightly oh yeah I don't want to get it too soggy all right now got my pan on and I'm just going to you can hear that sizzle on it all right we're gonna girl these really nice okay let's see bottom I always tend to forget which one is the wedge okay there we go we're gonna grill these that's how I like to make my buns now movies over for you so you can see them there we go all right you see that so we're gonna grill those and then we're going to load them up full up our sloppy joes and my tater tots are done in the oven I'm just letting them sit there they're gonna put all together Oh y'all see that right there that is what I'm looking for right there so my sloppy joes were done about a few minutes ago I had turned off the heat and I'm just kind of letting them rest a little bit absorb all of the any liquid left because we wanted pretty thick but not too thick okay we don't want it dry and as you can see those are not dry we'll put these on my by now oh my gosh y'all it smells so good you pile this up for y'all oh look at that hi y'all I am so excited I got my sloppy joes and my tater tots the perfect lunch for today all right y'all ready for me to take my bite okay right there mmm Jobar mm-hmm-hmm okay y'all don't buy the canned stuff okay make your own mmm so delicious the sweetness from the brown sugar oh my gosh the little bites of crunch just from the onions and peppers but they were sauteed down just enough the little zing from the mustard when that ketchup all right a little bit of Worcestershire oh my gosh all those ingredients go a long way to making the perfect sloppy joe with tater tots mmm all right y'all thank you so much for coming to my show today on my homemade sloppy joe recipe give me a thumbs up on the like button that you like my sloppy joe recipe today and if you're not a subscriber make sure you hit that subscribe button down below with the bail notification so you'll know when my shows
