school is rest relationship and healing now i know most of you may be wondering what exactly does risk relationship and healing have to think on us well let's start with the rest so [Music] some people spend their entire lifetime searching for that one romantic relationship and never really seem to find one and so they think that they are unloved by god or just unlucky sometimes it's good to take a break from searching first it is often when we stop searching that we find what we are looking relationship before engaging in any form of relationship we first need to ensure that we have a good relationship with god also a good friendship and good relationships with ourselves healing along with resting and good platonic relationships we also need to heal by heal i don't mean from a scrape or a wounded body part i mean from past traumas hurts and anything that may affect the way you care for someone else speaking of rest today is the sabbath the official day of rest from all your cares of the week that reminds me of a song oh day of rest and gladness please join me to sing hymn number 383 o day of rest and gladness hey [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] reflections [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] please please stand for the scripture reading and the prayer which will be done by dante this scripture reading is taken from mafia 11 verses 28 to 30. come on to me that labor and are heavy-laden and i will give you rest take my yoke upon you and learn of me for i am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light let us pray the righteous and eternal god i thank you for today i thank you for another day that we may come and worship you dear lord i pray for people dear lord i pray that you cover them under your blood i pray for the program dear lord i pray that you might cover it so that all may go well i invite your holy spirit in our presence dear lord in your name i pray amen now we will have the mission story by sister clovery [Music] thank you pleasant sabbath everyone the mission story this morning is entitled a special friendship a fifteen-year-old missionary kid in the marshall islands formed an unlikely friendship by a male with a 77 year old retired missionary in the far away u.s state of texas quite likely i've heard of texas the marshall islands just for your enrichment is a group of volcanic islands in the central pacific ocean between hawaii and the philippines the friendship started when the retired missionary grandpa bob learned about the missionary kids family through mission stories in the mission quarterly the boy's father was a school principal and his mother taught at the seventh-day adventist mission school on the remote island of ebi and grandpa bob wanted to do something special to support the family he already contributed to sabot school mission offering every week and he gave something extra when a 13 sabbath offering was collected to help the school in 2018 but he wanted to do more so he decided to send monthly care packages containing toys food and school supplies for the family and other missionaries on the island rajan was 13 years old when the first packages arrived and he and his family knelt and thanked god before opening each one but before he could play with a new toy or taste a treat father said he had to write a thank you letter to grandpa bob that is how the unlikely friendship by mail began grandpa bob sent packages and rajon replied with hand written letters for three years raision received many packages and sent many letters he wrote about his joy in receiving the packages he described his struggles at school he expressed fear of death when a schoolmate died and unexpectedly died unexpectedly and basketball star kobe bryant died in a helicopter accident on the same week soon after sending the letter about death he received a reply from grandpa bob it was the first and only time that grandpa bob sent him a personal letter three weeks after that grandpa bob was in the hospital and a short time later he returned home on hospice during his two weeks on hospice grandpa bob prepared eight more packages for raisin and his family his son mailed the last package after grandpa bob died the death of grandpa bob dismayed rajon but he continued writing letters he sent the following letter to grandpa bob's son in response to a package and i'll just summarize that for you um quickly it stated condolences shocked he was shocked at his passing even though he knew he had only a few days to live he had hoped otherwise he had written to him recently about how easily death comes and the passing of a fellow teen and kobe bryant of course you know cobra basketball player very famous then so grandpa bob had replied it's so sad when someone dies but we should not fear death because god has overcome it we should live our lives as if we were to die tomorrow while expecting to live another hundred years grandpa bob encouraged him to move on with his life and use each day as a fresh opportunity to witness to people about god and win souls for him though he did not know him personally he was influenced and encouraged by him to be kind friendly and loving he hoped to see him someday in heaven he assured him that god understands our grief and circumstances and we can find comfort in him thank you for your 13th sabbath offering three years ago that helped kick start sorry please excuse me there thank you for your weekly mission offerings that help support the work of missionaries in the martial islands and elsewhere around the world thank you for considering doing a little extra to further god's end time work amen wow what a story that story just reminds me that when you have a good relationship with jesus you don't have to worry about death or any of those other things as we ponder on the story that was just told let us prepare in ourselves for the pure breakout which will be done by jabez while he comes such a sing as the dare the deer painted for the water [Music] [Music] my [Music] [Music] give error unto my prayer o lord hearken unto the voice of my supplication i have purposed in my heart that my mouth shall not transgress my lord jesus we come before you this holy sabbath day to give you thanks for life we celebrate life because you are the god of life and not the dead and i know my lord jesus that regardless of the storms that come past us round about the lord our god is with us the god of jacob is our refuge my lord jesus i want to call by name any of the sicknesses and afflictions that bother us this day a lack of jobs a lack of someone to care about us fear about the coronavirus fear about our very future uncertainty on so many levels we have illnesses diseases accidents and so many attacks that so many times we wake up and we feel broken we feel sad we feel down we feel that there is no hope for us but we must remember that psalm 46 tells us that god is our refuge and strength a very present help in the time of trouble so we pray oh god this morning that you draw closer to us and remind us of who you are because we are people that are prone to short-term memory you give us a pill of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night you have set your holy angels to take charge over us according to psalm 91 and we know that you are a god of truth we know that you're a god of consistency and if you've done it before you will do it again and so jesus we lay aside our words our cares and our concerns and we set our eyes on you we do not worry about the army of ten thousands and thousands that encamp run about us because we know that he would soon rather send the entire angelic host of heaven that is trying to consume our enemies than to allow us to pass through a fight that you have not permitted so even now lord god if we are sick if we have the coronavirus if we are hungry and we have no food we have no job we have the bills to pay if we are in any sort of predicament we want to remember that nothing happens unless you permit it which is why you told us a story of job and in much the same way lord jesus we want to remember that in job 41 you spoke to your servant and you told him all these things that there's much more happening than we can see but if we put our trust in you you are faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to deliver us out of the hands of the enemy so we will not complain about those things that are wrong but we will give you thanks for allowing us to prove you this day that we will serve you so that you can place your blessing upon us so that in blessing us you may be glorified we give you thanks for this day of rest we give you thanks for this day of comfort and we pray above all things that before we leave today we would have been blessed by your holy spirit all glory honor and praise belong unto you just and true are your ways glory glory glory be to the name of god and angels sing this song for all eternity what more about humans that are so much littlest than the angels we give you thanks lord and bless your name and we pray that for the sermon today for the scripture reading for the lesson for anyone who is to take part in your service according to jeremiah 1 verse 9 put your words in their mouth so that we might be thoroughly blessed this day we will not leave until we get that blessing oh god this our prayer in faith and thanksgiving amen [Music] [Music] now let us prepare ourselves to participate fully in the lesson review which will be done by pasta wind [Music] happy sabbath everybody happy sabbath everyone happy sabbath to those who are joining with us online today it is indeed a pleasure to be in god's house one more sabbath morning [Music] today we are looking at our lesson lesson number seven lesson number seven rest relationship and healing rest relationship and healing let us pray as we move into our lesser study gracious father go before us speak to our hearts speak to our understanding we pray as we review your lesson this morning in jesus name amen amen rest relationship and healing but now do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here for god sent me before you to preserve life god sent me before you to preserve life it is interesting that as we view the lesson one of the things that one of the things that uh we've done on several occasions is to analyze the picture that is before us in the quarterly the picture that is before us right here we see uh two persons hugging two persons reconciling two persons making sure that they fix their relationship then we see someone else standing standing at the back what are some of the things what are some of the conclusions that we can draw from the person so we realize that there are two persons who are reconciling there are two persons who are giving each other a hug but then we find one person that is standing and looking what are some of the things that we can draw from just this picture that is right here before us anybody at all i want us to be very interactive as we look at the lesson today anybody at all yes go ahead i'm gonna ask my yes they're coming they're coming they're coming happy summer church so i am not looking at the picture but based on the description he gave clearly two people had a difference and it took a third party in order to bring about resolution or reconciliation it takes a third party to bring about reconciliation or resolution no no no no what i see in this picture is or is all three things coming out at me that is in the in the lesson rest when you are in a disagreement with somebody when you're in disagreement with persons in your family and talking about family as it relates to those who are living in your household resting in its truest sense does not come easy you become uneasy you become you you you you think uh or you find yourself not being able to relax as you would want to the person going this way you and your host well we're single here so amen you are living in the house and you and somebody not talk as as you're supposed to the minute the person go in the kitchen you start look wondering what is the person doing in the kitchen the minute the person uh puts some water in a cup uh you're one and i'm not talking about total malice but you're the person you're not as close as you're supposed to be you start wondering you you want to sleep but you're afraid of falling asleep because you don't know what the person might do but when you have reconciled when you have put yourselves together when you have um come together and reconciliation is formed you now have a restful rest of the day you have a restful night the things that were bothering you you know put them aside but then there's also the person who is standing off a lot of times when and one of the things that we learn if pastor scott were here he could back me up on this we learned something in class i think it's pastoral administration that we learn is never put your wife on the church board never put your wife on the church board why because a lot of times things happen in meetings a lot of times and i'm not talking about people beating up the pastor no no no no not physical beetles but there are sometimes you come and and and and you want to push forward a plan and somebody is standing as a blocker when as the pastor you and that person fix the relationship sometimes it takes the spouse another party a longer time to to rebuild or to fix the relationship and it happens in our friendships sometimes before people meet you they meet you because a lot of persons tell them so much things about you that by the time they meet you they say but this is not what i had in mind this is not who i was introduced to and so we find my friends that as we grow in our relationships when we talk about resting when we talk about relationship and we fix our rest that we fix our relationship then healing can take place so here is what joseph is saying you do not have to be angry with yourselves for selling me to slavery for selling me into slavery what joseph is saying to us brethren is that god sent him even in the even though at the beginning joseph could not see the end of the tunnel even at the beginning the brothers even reuben who said save him reuben did not see joseph being elevated to be in prime minister a lot of times things happen to you in life that at the moment even two three years into the situation you don't see it and when the end result come you really wonder if this is what god was doing because god in all that he's doing is well know he knows what he's doing because he's all-knowing he's all-powerful so god will always know what is best for you and he will do what is best for you so now my friends he said don't be angry with yourselves the reason you sold me into slavery you are now seeing the results of it i like to read what happened on the sabbath so let's read it let's read it um and had the q sorry been accused of sexual assaulting a woman sexually assaulting a woman some man had been accused of sexually assaulting a woman she positively identified him in a police lineup though evidence made his guilt questionable the woman was adamant that johnny was the guilty party and so johnny went to prison where he rotted for 14 years for a crime that he did not commit only when dna evidence exonerated him did the woman john realized her terrible mistake she joan wanted to meet johnny after he had been released what would this man who had suffered so much do when he came face to face with a woman who had ruined his life for 14 years she was in the room waiting for him to come when he did and they looked at all and they looked each other in the eye joan burst into tears johnny just leaned down and said to joan as he took her hands and he looked at her he said i forgive you i couldn't believe it jones said here is the man whom i had hated and whom want i had only one death for and yet now here he was telling me who had done him so much wrong that he forgave me only then did i begin to understand what grace was really about and only then did i begin to heal and have true rest brethren healing is not only for you healing also helps the other person and so when you forgive it takes the load off it takes the burden off it allows for you to make better of yourself and to also help the person whom you are in the altercation with whom you're having challenges with to also get healing anybody has anything that they want to bring out on the sabbath's lesson anybody at all we have a very very quiet audience this morning so we're looking at forgiveness now let's jump over to sunday facing the past and we understand that joseph had the power and could take revenge on his brothers joseph in the position that he was in could take revenge on his brothers without having to justify himself but rather than revenge joseph was concerned about the members of his family at home he was worried about his father was he still alive or had a dysfunctional family become a family without a father without the patriarch and what about his brother benjamin and his father's delight and joy benjamin was now in the same position that joseph had been had the brothers transferred their dangerous jealousy from joseph to benjamin joseph was now in a position to look out for these vulnerable people in his family and he did just that my friends when you have healing in your life it doesn't matter who hurt you or what the hurt was once healing takes place you understand what i'm saying once healing takes place that i'm not talking about oh may forgive you but may not forget it i'm talking about true healing comes to place then my friends what we see happening or what will happen is that the person who wronged us the person who did us something bad the person that we are not healing from the person that ah has no because the we we know the same the person who angers you controls you so the per once you have not healed joseph was not even concerned about himself anymore because joseph was in a position joseph was in the position to either get rid of his family or save them and he was not he was more concerned about the well-being of his family than even himself he was even more concerned about the well-being of those who were at home my friends as we look at sunday's lesson facing the past sexual abuse and emotional or physical violence are never to be a part of family dynamics somebody never said amen as much as we don't have we i'm hoping that we don't have this in our seventh seventh-day adventist churches where we have family members sexual abuse and family members i'm hoping that we don't have it in our churches where persons are emotionally abusing each other where persons are physically violent to each other these are never supposed to be a part of our family dynamics last week and right throughout this quarter we have been looking at our dysfunctions as a family but my friends even if we have dysfunctions in our families it should never be sexual abuse it should never be emotional abuse and it should never be physical violence this is not just private family business to be resolved internally a lot of persons are saying in their minds a lot of persons have been saying pastor somebody thinks that you have to leave them alone but if you know of somebody who has been sexually abused and you sit down and said truck and of my business that you are as much as fault as they are if you know somebody who is being emotionally abused and you are the adventist neighbor who is beside that person and you decide that oh let them deal with their business over their fence as long as it doesn't come on my side then you are just at fault as the person amen if you know persons who have been physically abused and you know say nothing you just keep silent because as long as you are not being physically abused you don't business with the person and a lot of times my friends you'll find that children who grow up in abusive homes where the father beat the mother or the mother be the father believe that this is the norm for life and they take the beating mentality into their relationship wherever they go this is not supposed to only be resolved internally and a lot of times we try to resolve things internally and it becomes worse get some help talk to somebody this will require outside help and intervention if you or someone in your family is being abused please get help and don't go get help from somebody who is going to tell you i've listened to persons who say if you're being abused the bible says do not get divorced i've heard it no i'm not telling anybody that they should get divorced but what i'm saying is that some of the persons that you go to for help will only tell you things that will keep you in situations sometimes what you need to do is to seek not just professional help because a lot of people believe that oh he's a teacher so the teacher because the teacher bright then the teacher can that may not be trusted professional help because what might happen if you and your spouse well i'm talking to singles but if you find in relationships where persons are being abused and a parent tells another parent or a parent tells the teacher that listen i'm being abused then they start look on the family different let's start look on the child who comes to school different so what you need to do is find trusted professional help so if you have a psychologist or a guidance counselor that is seated in your congregation and you believe that you can talk to this person and after talking to the person sister bob's your name not gone abroad and talk with the person amen find trusted professional help monday's lesson setting the stage joseph had forgiven his brothers we understand that joseph forgave his brothers we don't exactly know when joseph forgave them but it was obvious that joseph forgave them a long long long time ago long before they showed up in egypt where joseph was joseph forgave them joseph probably would never have thrived in egypt if he had never forgiven his brothers most likely the anger and the bitterness would have eaten away at his soul and damaged his relationship with the lord when you don't forgive person it damages your relationship with the lord and it also damages your relationship with persons because what will happen friends is that you will you will not be able to treat people the way they are supposed to be treated because you're treating them from a standpoint of anger we have one person who has raised their hand ah even though joseph had forgiven his brothers he was willing to let the family relationship pick up where it had left off a lot of times we find that rebuilding our family relationship oh i'm going to give you a chance you know but the chance that i'm going to give you i'm giving you an inch may not give you a mile what joseph was saying is listen i'm rebuilt i'm not even going to start from getting to the point where we we we're building from scratch so i need to get to know you again to see what you do we are picking up joseph was basically reflecting jesus as a christian when you do something wrong god does not say okay go back to the start and come again no he is right there with you and he said let's work together as we move forward ah jabez go ahead happy sabbatical church um comment on sunday i think that when you speak about helping those who are in abusive relationships whether it be romantic or familiar platonic i think it's also another way that we can spread the gospel to those people because many times if we can appeal to their more immediate needs it also opens their heart to teaching them about where we are the way we are students of god right the other thing that i wanted to point out is that when you mention forgiveness and prayer and joseph's relationship with god matthew 6 tells us very clearly that if we have art against someone or even they have ought against us where we're in the right we should first confess our sins go to them and try to get things right with them before we pray and even go as far as a prayer with an unrepentant heart is antarctic abomination to god right so i think that when we look at the topic of forgiveness it's not so much so for the person who offended us but also for our soul salvation which makes it something very important that we really need to take a look at and i like the way you're approaching this topic thank you no no no no joseph never came in contact with his brothers thank you so much jabez an interpreter spoke but joseph so joseph's brothers were unaware that he could understand them joseph heard his brother's confessions and the brothers had thought that they were getting rid of joseph they would be free from reporting to their father last week we looked at and and and there's a text i don't know if the primary school teachers are here but there's a god does not show favoritism sometimes favoritism breed contempt it breeds anger against our brothers and our sisters several studies of survival of tragedy sorry several studies of survivors of tragedy inflicted on them by others have highlighted the fact that for victims of the most horrible sufferings forgiveness was key or forgiveness was a key factor to find healing and to get their lives together again when persons wrong you the best way for you to move forward is to forgive brethren i'm not telling you that forgiveness is easy but what i'm saying to you that is the best way to move forward is to forgive when we jump over and forgive and forget we made mention of it earlier forgiveness doesn't mean forgiveness doesn't mean that there will be no consequence forgiveness doesn't mean letting the abuser continue the abusive pattern forgiveness means instead that we turn our resentment and our desire for revenge over to god you get that brethren forgiveness means turning your desire over to god if not the anger the bitterness the resentment and the hatred will make whatever that person or the persons did even worse you can imagine if you if somebody does something wrong to you and you are going out to somewhere to enjoy yourself and as soon as you walk into the place to enjoy yourself you see the person it must be a day altogether but if you allow forgiveness to take place then ah you will make sure that you have healed from whatever it is i'm going to wrap up the lesson because we have not gotten we have now ran out of time in order on the thursday sorry on the wednesday in order to forgive i must admit you're getting me brethren in order to forgive i must admit that i have been hurt jesus my friends didn't wait for us to ask for forgiveness first we do not have to wait for our offender to ask for forgiveness we can forgive the person even without the person asking us for forgiveness no question forgiveness isn't always easy but holding unto bitterness and anger and resentment will make healing much harder if possible healing will not take place at all we have to let go even if the person don't ask for forgiveness forgive the person so that your life can be better so that you can reap the rewards that god has in store for you i i'm asking the persons who will continue our school to make their way thursday if the wound is deep if the wound is deep my friends we will probably have to forgive many many many many many many many times if the person who hurt your hurt you're really bad hurt you're really deep we're going to have to forgive the person more than one time we're going to have to forgive and forgive and forgive and we have to continuously forgive the person if the wound is deep we'll probably have to forgive the person many times when memories of the wrong come to mind we will need to go to god immediately in prayer and make the choice to forgive again we must forgive and finally on the friday on the friday's lesson on the friday's lesson my friend nothing at all can justify an unforgiving spirit your kiana come at church bedroom 15 15 20 years and still struggling with forget well let me rephrase that because you can still be struggling with forgiveness but you cannot be struggling at the same level that you were 10 15 20 years ago it should mean that because you have been building that relationship with jesus christ you have been building that relationship with god for so long that forgiveness becomes an easier thing because forgiveness no does not become ah i will forgive you if you do forgiveness no becomes a lifestyle nothing at all can justify an unforgiving spirit he who is unmerciful towards others show that he himself is not a partake of god's pardon and grace if you are not willing to forgive it means that you should not be forgiven that is the essence of what it's saying if you are not willing to forgive then forgiveness should not be given to you some of us i'm wrapping up now come devonique ah when you are when you when you're driving um and you look at some of the things that you do on the road and then when police pull you over you always expect the police to extend grace and then five minutes down the road you say you say if i made it a police she couldn't get to and him couldn't get away that might be a little trivial that might be a little small as it relates to the comparison that we're making but what i'm saying is we want forgiveness for everything that we do it doesn't matter how wrong you are it doesn't matter who you're wrong the minute you confront the person you want the person to forgive you but when the shoe is on your foot kyan believes you have to give me some time may have to work through this forgiveness allow forgiveness to become a lifestyle so that as you grow and as you go because forgiveness has now become a part of your life it's easier for you to forgive and it's easier for persons to forgive you remember in order for you to have true rest and good relationship you must heal god bless you as you continue to enjoy the sabbath that was a very kind of short lesson review but it was very um well done now we we have two boxes in the rows for offer sorry you can just walk over and put the money in the boxes they will be picked up afterwards [Music] so [Music] [Music] do [Music] okay let us pray lord i ask that you bless each and every person here we thank you for the gifts of your people and we thank you for those that were able to give and also those who weren't able to we ask that you will continue to bless them bountifully we ask one once more we thank you once more and ask that you will continue to guide us in jesus name amen right now we will be having our welcome by sister andrew them hearing their names and described as sorry and that they desire you publish the band of marriage in which is required by the law so andrew christopher acosta and janelle diana guests have decided that they would want to join themselves in holy matrimony and they solemnly declare that they believe that there is no impediment of kindred or alliance or other lawful hindrance to said marriage therefore my friends they subscribe and declare by the above-named persons in the presence of us the undersigned holders householders in the above-mentioned parish who declare that we believe the statement can contain in this notice to be true if there is anybody in addition to this publication of ban and notice they must if you have objections you must bring those objections within the next about lonely days and lonely nights filled with despair caused me too long for someone to care then i heard christ say to me this promise [Music] lord i am with you now and forever be not afraid i'll never be lonely again never again cause i have opened my [Laughter] away my tears and forget my foolish fairs i'll never be lonely again never again if you're longing for a friend loving and true turn tears i'll never be lonely again never i'll again be lonely again no never again cause i've opened my heart [Music] i'll never be lonely again you'll never be lonely again we'll never be lonely again never again [Music] [Music] children of the world jesus [Music] happy sabbath boys and girls and happy sabbath to all the bigger boys and girls in the congregation so today's story is one that i don't think is very commonly told to children it's a story of the tower of babel many years after the flood you know the one where noah and his family were the only ones who survived they were given instructions to repopulate the earth because i don't think god would have an earth with only eight people so they settled down and had more children then they began to move from place to place when they reached the land of babylon they decided to sit there and build a tower so high that it would reach the sky the people in their hearts were very proud and they thought that if they could build a tower high enough that they could be on the same level as god can you imagine that being on the same level as god when god came down to the city and saw what the people were doing he became very angry with them he decided to put a stop to their construction by making sure that nobody could understand the other god made sure that everyone started to speak a different language when they tried to communicate it turned into a whole bubble of confused voices soon everyone who spoke the same language left the city together and in this way they spread out across the world taking their different languages with them and that is why it is called the tower of babel now every story has a lesson and the lesson we should get from this story is that we must humble ourselves before the lord the pride of the people of babylon led to their downfall just like satan they wanted to be on the same level of god and that is the most impossible thing because we are like sheep in his pastor and no matter how hard we try we will never be on his level i ask you to bow your heads with me as i pray lord i thank you for everyone that is here all the children that are watching and that are here as well i pray that you'll bless them and help them to understand you and help them that they will grow up to be people who will praise and worship you i thank you for everything that you have done for us and the program so far i also pray that you will bless the program as it continues in jesus name i pray amen jesus loves the little children all [Music] jesus loves the little children of the world happy sabbath everyone let us pray lord as we pause to return a portion of what you have blessed us with we pray that our gifts will be acceptable to you made aid in the furtherance of your of your work so that oh god the things of this world will go strangely dim in their eyes and they would see jesus christ the one who loved them men may come around and say they love you women may come around and say they love you but jesus loves them best oh thank you jesus for the assurance in your word that you love them with an everlasting love i pray you continue to cover them motivate them lord motivate them in a way that oh god that they continue to live for you all that continues to share your word their lives are living example and to their peers oh god continue to be with us remember oh god the people your hearts be receptive to your word may you hide him behind the cross this morning let your presence be seen and heard in him let your word go forth god with power with might oh heavenly father speak to him today as never before that as we left this blessed god we all can say it was good for us to be here hear our cry answer our petition no lord while we wait upon you and tell your thanks but these are the mercies through jesus christ we pray amen [Music] [Music] god [Music] amen i have the very pleasant task today of introducing the person who will bring us a special message from the throne of grace some of us might have met him before those persons who were online for our prayer and fasting last time would have met him briefly but for those who did not meet him then allow me just to tell you a few facts about our speaker he hails from the parish of saint ann an elder in his home church and he is now an evangelism student at the ncu at ncu northern caribbean university he is the brother for those persons who watch this seven last saints of jesus he is the brother of one of our speakers that can be good and that can be bad because he good that he has somebody to emulate to coach him but it can be bad in the sense that it sets a very tough ground for him to follow but he's equal to the task he is elder la taniel hamilton elder has this special message that the lord has laid on his heart to share with us today and as he comes and as he speaks to us i ask for him your undivided attention and to prepare our hearts to receive the word our own sister tiana kamak will give us the song of meditation sabbath everyone let us lay all our cares and our burdens at jesus's feet [Music] god i give you what i can today these scattered hashes that i hid away i lay them all at your feet from the corners of my deepest shame the empty places where i've worn your name love me your love i say i believe [Music] oh help me to lay down oh lord oh let this be where i died [Music] we lift [Music] once and there is victory in my savior's loss and in the crimson flowing from the cross pour over me pour over [Music] crucified [Music] oh lord i lay help me to lay down o lord oh let this be where i died [Music] my lord with thee crucified [Music] once once and for all once and for all [Music] once and for all [Music] happy sabbath people of god i trust the lord has been good to you as he has been good to me but you know when i come in the presence of god i feel like i have to worship i think the church is not agreeing with me so when i come into the presence of god i feel compelled to worship and no wonder david said i was glad when they say unto me let us go in the house of the lord has god been good if god has been good to you just lift your hands where you are and shout hallelujah praise the lord though we are singles we are fired up for jesus what do you say amen amen amen amen i bring you greetings brothers and sisters in uh the church and online on behalf of my family especially my brother my friend pastor lambert hamilton one that i'll agree with my sister with which i cannot rather i'm not worthy to untie not even the shoelace of his shoes but i know the lord called us for a purpose and that we have to fulfill i must use this opportunity as well to thank your pastor and your church boards are your pastors and your church board for inviting me for inviting me here i am feeling honored and privileged today for the next few minutes yes the next few minutes i'd like to speak to you under a simple caption more than enough more than enough i love this song and though i can do a little thing i'll ask the priests team to join me if they know it i must have the savior with me seems the prison is young for i dare not walk alone i must feel his presence near me oh yes and his arms around me throne then my soul shall fear let him lead beware he will i will go i will go without a murmur and his footsteps and his footsteps follow one more time i must have i must have [Music] for i dare for i dare not walk alone and i must feel his presence near me and his arms around me thrown then my soul shall fear no ill let him lead me where he will and i will go without a murmur and his footsteps follows i'm about to pray but i think i need to sing it one more time for somebody i must have the savior with me for i dare i dare i must feel i must feel his presence near me and his arms around me thrown then my soul shall fare knowing let him lead me where he went i will go lord i will go without a murmur and his footsteps follow pray with me where you are pray with me father we recognize that we must go with you this morning though sinful we are we ask that you will wash us thoroughly and then god as i'm standing around this holy lectern about to proclaim thus saith you to your people i pray that you will stand in my body holy ghost minister to my spirit a holy ghost speak a word to somebody in this place holy ghost let let somebody cry out i heal i cannot hold it any longer in jesus name let god's people say amen the simple topic more than enough sucks wrote a story in his book mass of love and life of two brothers the younger of whom had a phobia for open doors the stories does not say what kind of childhood trauma would make him so disturbingly afraid of open doors but his older brother became frustrated and threatened him one day i'm going to lock you in a room full of open doors the truth is my brothers and my sisters if we would be honest today many would confess that at some point or another in your christian experience you felt locked in caged up just to realize that you're surrounded by open doors and interestingly the church has its place in this confusion for so for we are so diligent about hammering with all shall not of christian life that we hardly find time to talk about what is actually okay for a christian to do as a result so many of our youth find their christian life to be such a burden locked in a room that adult with reveals is actually full of open doors it is the paradox of the christian experience and there is absolutely no more eligible to no one more eligible to talk to us about the paradox of the christian experience than the apostle paul the apostle paul brothers and sisters who who himself had the most bittersweet christian experience recorded in sacred history paul is the master of paradoxical speaking in almost all his epistles paul employs the literary device as a means of provoking cognitive dissonance in his audience to it to the end of a sterling edification paul here proclaiming sitting in a deplorable condition of the damning prison cells of rome with but none both roach and rodents to keep his company paul wrote to the believers i am sitting with my lord in higher places he would write to the corinthian church when i am weak then i am strong to the romans he would write as christians we should be a living sacrifice paul would tell the gentiles we should walk in freedom and then he would tell them we should serve one another using the same word slave he will tell the ephesians we should walk in wisdom then the same paul would turn around and tell the corinthians i am a fool to christ follow me carefully i'm going somewhere it's not strange then the paradox that paul supplies in ii corinthians 4 7 i am sure you have your bibles with you read it with me ah it was ably read earlier but i'll read it another time but we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of god and not of us in the text paul unveils not the paradox of christian experience for the paradox of christian existence or the church miss that i'll say it another time i said in the text found in second corinthians paul unveils not the paradox of a christian experience for the paradox of the christian existence paul here is saying that every single human being no matter who you are no matter how much you invest in you no matter who you become we are all pastors broken parts we're all doctors broken clay pots held broken clay pot adventist broken clay pots are successful broken clay potter as a single broken clay potter beautiful broken clay pots parts whose brokenness has defeated the very purpose of existence yet brothers and sisters god has carelessly enough and sorry god has been careless enough to entrust heaven's most valuable treasure in the brokenness of humanity why because this treasure has the power to transform useless broken vessels into vessels of honor i don't know if i'm talking to somebody here walk with me somewhere today walk with me somewhere because i'm going somewhere as as i look at the text somehow i am tempted to think the apostle paul was reading jeremiah 18. you know the story when he wrote the third letter to the church in corinth which which we know to be second corinthians better known in the new testament studies to be the seven letter brothers and sisters the letter in which paul addresses very delicate matters in what is believed to be hard harsh tones the greek word used for earthen is the word astrakhanos yes that's greek that's not english astrakhanos this word means clay oh lord have mercy i'm going somewhere today i want you to follow me carefully literally literally sorry of the earth and consequently frail then paul used the greek word in the space of vessel in the word that that that is called scouse which means a vessel as equipped or apparatus now one thing i know about an apparatus is that it it it it is its purpose that renders it relevant oh lord when when these two words are brought together we get get we then get the impression that paul is saying we are all useless vessels we're all useless vessels whose signified significance is completely dependent on the function that it serves but but but you're asking the question and and oh i want to ask the question as well what is the function paul and paul here is proclaiming the function of the vessel is the this treasure my brothers and my sisters are this makes it more this makes a lot more sense when i realize that the greek word paul uses for treasure is the word soros which means a deposit paul is saying to the believers the heathen derive their values from how well-dressed their broken pots are but we as children of god derived our values from what god has deposited within them can i turn back to jeremiah 18 and tell you that paul said over there the potter is doing a work on the vessel but over here i've got jesus on the inside working on the outside and he's bringing about a change in my life oh brothers and sisters the road is not an easy one but i've got jesus i said these things that are happening around us they are not easy but i've got jesus on my inside he is working on my outside no wonder i hear my mother saying i don't mind the fiery trials i don't mind what men may do these are mine and this i care for is that my heart is right with god first i've got jesus on the inside working on my outside and he's bringing about a change in my life i only come here to tell you today brothers and sisters that if you're single and you've got jesus then you're more than enough there are some of you out there who are wondering who do i need to be like so i am more attractive there are some of you who are wondering sorry no wonder our young people some of them are dressed the way they do they are soma who are wondering and asking the question what do i need to know as a young man so a girl does not put me in the friend zone well there are some of you young ladies who are wondering how can i show a guy that i'm interested without it coming off as if i'm desperate can i talk to you for a minute permit me to talk to you for a minute and for a minute you listen to me carefully here you don't need to worry about all that is humbling around your all that is taking place because i hear i hear brother david said in psalm 139 13 and 14 for it was you oh god who created my inward part you knit me together in my mother's womb i will praise you for i am faithfully i will praise you for i am faithfully and wonderfully made i don't need to do anything because i'm fearfully and wonderfully made all brothers and sisters journey with me in other words am i'm not moved by all that is happening around as long as i've got jesus on the inside working on the outside bringing about a change in my life oh brothers and sisters no wonder god said to jeremiah jeremiah before you were born i knew you and i ordained you and then he went back and he said in jeremiah 29 verse 11 for i know the plans that i think toward you say the lord it is plans of peace another fever oh lord have mercy i wanna i wanna preach in this place can i can i talk to the church here at worship some of you are single today not because you're not good looking not because god does not have a plan for your life but because you're comfortable as halves oh lord you missed that i said some of us are single today not because we are not good-looking not because god does not have a plan for lies but because we are comfortable as halves but nobody in their right mind want to marry a half god's blueprint for marriage is one plus one equals one not half plus half equals half you you better get this here today happy singer makes a happy copper and a frustrated singers make a frustrated copper the ring provokes no dramatic transformation fix it from now waiting wait until my married faith whatever the case may be forgive my hypothesis we are all jamaicans it is full-time brothers and sisters for us to to to stop watching to stop watching all those around us the parts around us that would have already living in their purpose and focusing on the treasure that god has afforded them you now need to stop watch them and focus on the treasure that god has afforded you that treasure is the glory of god in the face of jesus singles yes or no you have this treasure in jesus and that's enough i said this before and i'm going to say it again because i'm done now i i don't intend to keep you long here i know i know you're on the edge of your seat but watch this carefully i said this again before and i'll say it again you don't other oh lord have mercy okay thank you my elder if you are single and you have jesus then you are more than enough you are more than enough to stand the darts of the enemies more than enough to resist him when temptations come you're more than enough to stand for him though the heavens fall you're more than enough to help that this gospel of the kingdom being preached to all the world that the end will come you are more than enough for my brothers and sisters to stand for jesus to stand in your workplace to stand in your families you are more than enough when the enemy is dusting your right left and center to draw for the revelation in christ that if he has done it before he can do it again you're more than enough you're more than enough to tell this dying world that jesus says singleness is is not a period of wanting of one oh lord i want to preach in this place but singleness is not a period of wanting a man or a woman yeah i know you wouldn't say amen for that one because so often we think that singleness is all about seeking god has designed this period in every human being life for a moment to talk to him for a moment to build a relationship with him it is not time to get discouraged singleness is not a crime it is not time to worry about you being single for so long your time is to have that relationship that bond that closeness with jesus i'll unveil one last thing with you and then take my seed one number last thing when i go through scripture i understand that god would have recognized that sometimes all spirits would have been dampened sometimes we we will feel as if we want to let go sometimes we will get frustrated even the other day i was watching i was sorry i was reading something from the whole world health organization and they said that those who at this point in their lives as long as you're above 18 i think they say that if as long as you're above 18 and you're not having sexual intercourses and you're not in a relationship you can be considered as infertile oh brothers and sisters god would have looked down and know that all things would have been taking place god would have looked down and see in times of life that every liver every single thing upon this earth as long as they want it to be advertised as long as they want to make money off of it they have something sexually oriented with it so that the christians cannot keep their minds pure when you take up your phone sometimes if you don't mind the first thing comes up on it is something sexually oriented and sometimes the devil would he will use these things to try to get us up but god is saying my child because you have me you can do all things through christ who gives you strength when the enemy comes like a flood you can do all things through christ who gives you strength when the enemy has set up traps sexually at traps for you to fall in when the devil has set up all sorts of things as singles for you to fall in when peer pressure rocks your right left and center remember you can do all things through christ who gives you strength why because you're more than enough and jesus is on the inside working on my outside and it's bringing about a change in my life oh lord have mercy the road is rougher the coins get tough but i've got a home i hear john say that he saw the holy city new jerusalem coming down it is struggling down here it is hard to cope down here if you're singles but i heard john saying that the former things are all passed away because sexual immoralities will be all in the past but brighton will be all in the past oh lord of mercy i don't want to say singleness but loneliness will be all in the past i hear the songwriter said what a day what a day what a day a glorious day that will be i don't know about you but i'm longing for that day when loneliness too shall die oh glory to god i'm longing for the day when all the things all the former things will be passed away oh lord have mercy family god send the adventist church i want to remind you that though the struggles are on you though the pressures around you though your peers young people are pressuring you as a singer totally depend rock upon jesus look upon jesus sin lester is he my life in purity life unto me you're more than enough god bless you the clothes in him will be hymn number 537 he leadeth me that's 537 please stand [Music] o words with heavenly comfort fraud whatever i do wherever [Music] he leadeth me by his is [Music] [Music] [Music] thoughts me [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i [Music] me is [Music] [Music] on earth when by the grace the grace [Music] come on church and sing he lead me he leaded me by his own hands he leaded me his faithful [Applause] praise the name of the lord praise the name of the eleanor white would have it to say any preacher that preaches and fails to make an appeal fails in his sermon because the essence of every sermon is to give somebody another chance to say yes to jesus and i want to give somebody another chance on youtube i want to give somebody another chance in the church today i'm not yes i want to give somebody another chance you're here whether you're on youtube or you're in here and you want to say preacher i want to go where god would have me to go even if i am alone and you want to say preacher pray for me that i will go i invite you to raise your hands god see those hands god see those hands god see those hands and then i'll make one final appeal i'm not sure who is here but if you're here and you're not a christian you're not a synthetic adventist and you want to say preacher pray for me but i will make my wrongs right and my crooked path straight in jesus before it's too late i invite you to raise your hand whether you're in here or you're on zoom or you want to just put on on youtube sorry you want to just put in there
