hello my name is Jonathan technical marketing engineer for NetApp storage grid in this video we will be showing how rubric and NetApp storage grid work together to simplify this aster recovery planning and automate workflows specifically I will be showing how storage grid can be added to rubric as an archival target which can simultaneously serve as an object storage platform for other workloads in your infrastructure NetApp storage grid is a software-defined object storage solution that supports industry standard object API s such as Amazon s3 storage grids ILM policy simplifies data management so your data is in the right place at the right time automatically rubric is a cloud data management platform that collapses backup software catalog management replication and deduplicated storage into a single appliance that scales linearly with net up storage grid and rubric users can now automate data lifecycle management through rubrics simple control plane while leveraging storage grid as a cloud scale object based archived target this combines the best of data protection with enterprise grade object storage together they provide policy based simplicity simple linear scaling while remaining vendor agnostic now let's go over how to configure storage grid as a rubric archive target in this demo I have setup a single site grid it consists of a primary admin node a gateway node and four storage nodes communication between rubric takes place via the storage grid API gateway using the s3 protocol therefore we must first configure in s3 tenant account I will configure a tenant account called rubric selecting s3 as my protocol and specifying a password for the tenant local root user now let's sign into the tenant management page using the local root user credentials next we will need to generate access keys which will be required when configuring rubric in addition as you can see our tenant currently has no buckets setting up storage grid is that simple let's move on to configuring our rubric cluster after logging into rubric with admin permissions click the gear icon on the top right and go to archival locations currently I have no archival locations and will need to add one select object store and make sure the storage class is s3 compatible paste in the access key and secret key of my storage grid s3 tenant in the host name specify storage grid gateway nodes IP address with port 8080 for for HTTP specify a bucket prefix and the number of buckets that rubric will create on the storage grid object store in this case - next we will need to generate and paste an RSA key the tooltip conveniently provides you with the OpenSSL command to execute rubric uses this key to encrypt data before writing into storage grid click Add to complete the process storage grid s3 object store is now added to the rubric cluster as an archive target and is available to be used by rubrics service level agreements or SLA s to utilize storage grid we will need to create a new SLA for demonstrations I will call this SLA archive and take snapshots every day and retain for seven days but you can change the retention and SLA to meet your own needs click remote settings and enable archival select our configured storage grid object store from the drop down in preparation I have connected a vCenter server to my rubric cluster to have some VMs to backup and protect after selecting a VM I select manage protection and assign my archived SLA domain to it if we now go back to storage great and login to our rubric s3 tenant we can see that rubric created two buckets for archival on s3 browser connected to storage grid we can see rubric stored some basic files in our bucket I hope this demonstration has shown you how well rubric and NetApp storage grid can work together to simplify a disaster recovery planning and automate workflows thank you you
