Cute they enjoyed it. The statues supposedly were supposedly an initiative to make the city a little bit more cheerful and lively after the revolution. I mean they were mostly put in place in the ninetees, so it could be it.

if you would have told us that we'd be in a city called Bratislava when we started this whole travel thing we would have said where is that so today we are going to scope out the city do some exploring and let you know if you should be coming here as well [Music] we're here at the blue church as it is affectionately known I think the official name is the Church of st. Catherine in the scheme of European churches was relatively new it's from the early 20th century here's one thing we know you guys know our Instagram feed is a very blue and this church is blue so you're guaranteed to see a photo of this on our account very soon [Music] I'm gonna see if we can get in here plot okay so well you can kind of see inside I think it's blue throughout as well [Music] so for those of you that do not know where Bratislava is it is located in Slovakia on the very east and there are 450,000 people here it's actually one of your smallest capitals it's also very close to Vienna and we were just a minute we were and if you've been following along in Vienna and in Budapest where we just were you might recall that we've been sweating a lot it's been a crazy heatwave it continues here huh so much so Bratislava is actually known for its many palaces and castles behind me is the presidential palace it's actually where the president does well back do you live it's pretty impressive there's actually some guards in there you won't be able to see them I don't think but I'd say just as impressive as that is this clove over here and this fountain this is epic [Music] it's continuing on here with fountains and there's more statues we've seen these statues I think they're around the city huh maybe seen more in the city than any yeah I know and it looks like well we're right behind the presidential palace it's right there and it looks like there's more statues in this big open garden and it's completely free to get in it's free probably anybody here [Music] so we just came across this a Slovakian restaurant it actually has a/c which is awesome and hardly any where it does we heard there's this national dish that we have to try it called halusky and probably saying it wrong and it's made out of potato dumplings cheap cheap cheese curds and fried bacon yeah I guess this is one of the traditional dishes here in the country can is starting to cool at this I can smell the bacon I wish you guys could smell this why it looks very interesting huh it's weird brother they pick it up it almost has like a mashed potato consistency yeah mmm does a kid it's very rich but it's really good so it's not like these almost mashed up I'm narrow almost matched up dumplings doesn't like it mad at me for saying that but they're very like mushy is maybe the wrong word but they're not I expected them to be like bigger and harder they're not and then the sheep's cheese is so good and creamy so I'll tell you what I'm looking forward to and this is the bacon or pork I can smell this and it smells incredible whoa I've never had anything like that before the pork is really good it almost is like bacon but it's cut kind of in chunks like strings the texture they are dumplings right we said that they're dumplings yeah yeah it very much is like a mashed potatoes and it's really creamy everything goes very well together Wow I would eat this all the time if I lived in this city [Music] so now we're in another park and as you can see there is this epic looking sculpture up there and there's actually two churches there's one right there and well there's one here so there is another statue over here and it's probably the most interesting one yet I would say yeah there's a description down here as well no well I don't know if you guys can see that but I do see rest in peace teacher of drawing bronze stainless steel definitely bronze stainless steel [Music] we are just getting into Old Town right now it's really really pretty it up these little key little streets with like cobblestone that's a pretty colored building for the night yeah we've we were here a couple days now and we have to say that it's so small and cute it's very easy to walk around which means it's a power kind of voice [Music] so Anna's about to go through this I bet that felt good huh they're pretty popular I have to say we haven't seen these anywhere we've been I think anywhere in the world so far what a good way to cool off you just walk through these things he got that idea from us so what do you guys think so far should you come should you come to Bratislava I think we should wait till the end of the video to decide but what I will say is that it's August so it's gonna be like fire season right now and it's actually not too busy here wasn't really nice it's pretty quiet for the middle of the summer [Music] so now we are coming up on what is arguably the most famous guy in the city his name is Camilla so there are a couple of theories about what he's doing there one is I hate the Communists area worker and he's not really working at all and the other one is that he's trying to look up with it yeah I'm not sure which one it could be both [Music] [Music] now we are over on the other side of town we're on our way to the castle and the noise you hear in the background well that is the highway they do such a good job of blending the old with the new right over this way well there is some city walls old city walls actually recently got to walk across the city walls or over feet city walls I guess in panya in Crete with the cart of three through your watch that so we made it up to where the castles out we actually don't see it yet that thing in the background the needle that is the UFO tower think we're gonna go there after this huh I don't know but do you know where we go we're going to bratislava castle yeah but i mean do you know where you're going cuz i have no idea how did you know [Music] [Music] so now we are up here at the castle in the gardens which are free and it is absolutely beautiful here these cars are over the top they even give the gardens a run for their money in them were week Italy we were in Italy so you should go watch that will link it but it really these are wildly impressive garden so this castle actually dates back to the 9th century so it's pretty old sort of it burned down in 1811 and then they didn't rebuild it again until 1956 so what you're seeing is pretty new when another interesting thing I don't know if we can see it from here the biggest turret I think there's four used to hold the crown jewels of hungry because I think Slovakia used to be part of hungry well the views up here are absolutely stunning as you can see guys you might be able to tell but it's getting really windy and it's starting to rain a lot down here is the Danube River Dani Danube River I say it wrong every time but I don't think we're going to make it down there today huh yeah some beaches and stuff down there as well you can't go swimming but like this is a cool little setup with some bars but the rains kind of yeah and the wind but we'll leave you with this at least you get a good look at it the UFO tower is pretty cool actually and the river well that's just stunning ela rains starting to come down now but we see some shelter up here but we're gonna try to wrap up today oh sorry Bratislava for the sounds going to sound way different Bratislava has been great I think that's safe to say and a big surprise I didn't really know what to expect before we got here I didn't know a whole lot about it but it's a really cool City really a beautiful city it's lovely yeah yeah it's got all the things we like you guys know if you follow along and if you don't you should hit the subscribe button and click on a little bell for notifications so you know when all of our videos come out but our favorite kind of cities are these walkable ones that's the easiest way to sum it out though yeah it's walkable it's really pretty there's like parks everywhere it's a really nice city and like I said I'm really surprised about it one thing I've noticed is that when you're walking around you're gonna find restaurant like very modern restaurants and after robbing place next to a craft beer place next to a traditional vacuum pipe so you can get like all of it everything you want is here cool so guys if you haven't already go check out our last video we just came from Budapest which was epic like one of our favorite cities and next up well we're gonna throw you a huge curveball because well we're going to Dublin that's right Dublin Ireland alright guys that's it from Bratislava wishing you delightful travels easy oh wait we didn't answer the question should you come to Bratislava yes [Music] [Music]
