Should you buy this instead of a Street Glide?

all right so all your buddies are out there buying harley-davidsons but you were thinking about going to the dark side and buying an indian are you crazy like a fox or are you an idiot we're gonna find that right now i think the answer's gonna surprise you i want you guys leave a comment below tell me which one you would rather have as of right now would you rather have this or harley davidson streak live at the end of the video if your opinion changes go back in there and throw it in there again stay to the end of the video and i'm gonna tell you which one i would rather have and why this is the 2019 indian chieftain limited do not confuse this with the new indian challenger that has a fixed front fairing like a road glide does this fairing is connected to the handlebars so it actually moves around so the best competitor for this in the harley lineup would be the street light and if you like the chieftain but you're not a big fan of the colors they also make a chieftain dark horse which is all flat black and super cool looking but also scary so the first thing you're going to notice about this thing when you first see it is that you're like oh yeah that's not a harley you know because you're so used to seeing the harley-davidson lines and they they really don't change very much throughout the years but when you see something that's that's a motorcycle but it's different you're like oh yeah that's a pretty cool looking bike and it's not a harley davidson and polaris who currently owns indian i think they've done a great job at just keeping that classic indian style with adding this really cool modern technology so you don't feel like you're missing out on anything so before i tell you what this thing can do that your buddies harley cannot do let me show you the power train this is the thunder stroke engine and like all like we know from all good names the cummings and the power stroke and the duramax and all stuff all good engines have their own name but thunderstroke that's kind of like 80s hairband name fun thunderstruck sucks thunderstroke and it's not just a name it's a big 1811 cc which ends up being 111 cubic inch ginormous 49 degree v-twin chances are the engine here is bigger than the engine in your car now crazy side note look down here there's a little tiny qr code right there on that shifter and i'm just dying to know what that is well it doesn't do anything i can't scan it the thunderstroke motor makes 120 foot-pounds of torque and just just a hair under 80 horsepower which is you know that's pretty impressive this big engine is connected to the wheels through a six-speed gearbox then a belt drive then to the pavement hold up i found a qr code let me see what this one does work either don't give me qr codes if it's not gonna do anything so this thing weighs in at 827 pounds which is a whopping two pounds lighter than the harley davidson street glide you said i know you think two pounds is not that big of a deal you're right it's not a big deal it's irrelevant it doesn't you know never let anyone use it as a selling point of why you should buy this over a street light because two pounds is nothing so now i'm going to tell you guys what this indian does that the counterpart harley does not do as far as i know does not do now i know power windshield does not seem like a huge deal it is a huge deal and it could be a game changer for the riders of different heights and what kind of helmets you ride really makes a big difference sometimes you want cold cold air in your face sometimes you don't because it's too cold out or something it also has a tire pressure monitoring system so you can see right here on the gauges it's got your psi for your front and your rear tire and that's not just good for for like if you got a flat it's also good for really dialing into the to the ride of your vehicle with you or with the passenger you got to figure you're going to run different psi if it's if you're 120 pound guy versus a 250 pound guy with the girlfriend on the back you know i mean so really it's really nice to dial that in and figure out you know how the ride is better and worse another thing that this bike has is it's got some little key fob we lock and unlock that's it for the saddlebags that's pretty awesome what it doesn't do is that annoying beep that you do when you walk you know you leave in your car and you're like motorcycle life the other thing it has is coming right from the imports and they've had this for since at least 2006 or 2007 but selectable riding modes where it doesn't really change the power just kind of changes the the throttle response so it's got tor standard and sport mode so if if it's raining you might want to put in standard mode if it's a sport and you're really getting into getting in on it you want to throw in sport mode it's going to be a little quicker or different power delivery mode now a lot of people ask me the same question in terms of indians versus harley davidsons or the other brands i like but what about the fit and finish how's the quality of the bike and to be honest with you the quality in these bikes are really good here's one thing i love how they put their name they stamped their name right in the side of the frame and this is not you know the welds look beautiful but this is you know the side of the frame on most bikes is supposed to be like you know cover it up don't show it this they just make it look awesome everything about this is shiny and clean and just very you know very tucked in there's no wires dangling all over the place there's not a big clump of wire just walking up through the neck just looks really really nice even subtle things about how the inner fairing is painted it's just you know for for most harley-davidson's it does not come painted and it just it looks cool and this i've always said this before is this is what i get this is what i'm seeing if i'm buying i'm spending all this money buying the bike i want to see the paint i want to see it look really good instead of just being like a flat black also i have no idea what this thing is not sure what that thing is but i bet it's awesome here's something else i've never seen on a harley davidson you notice how the brake lever is adjustable it's got five different spots and what this is for is different people have different you can fold that up and you can change it different people have different size hands but also different preferences of where they like their levers to be i like to be pretty far out some people might like it to be a little farther in or they have smaller hands they like getting a little closer to their knuckles this is adjustable you have to change anything just adjust it i love that the biggest thing you notice of a quality vehicle versus an unquality vehicle is how it feels not just how it looks but also how it feels you come over here and you open up the thing for the four posts and it just it feels great it just it's smooth it's solid everything fits in like you know it's in you know it's right pull that up that thing out you have nice little rubber bushings in here so you're not going to scratch the paint while you put it back in but it just it feels good and the bike looks a lot better with it out it also has this giant seven inch screen look at that you see that that was so cool that connects to your phone controls your radio it tells me if i'm failure to paying attention why i'll bring this motorcycle because you lost an injury or death i don't care you know change your music next to your phone uh it tells you tons of information voltage you would need a scan tool to put another bike to find out all the information this thing's given to you which is really awesome the coolest things it tells you is the ride data how long you've been moving how long you've been stopped how far you're going what your altitude is how much your altitude changed while you were driving it all these things are things that you never needed to know that before but now that you know that it's a possibility that you can know it you have to have it let's fire this thing up take it for a spin do a real life zero to 60. then after that i'm gonna tell you which one uh which one i'd rather pick this or the street light that sounds good doesn't it all right guys before we cheerful sing phrases all right guys so i was i like how when you when you uh turn this thing on just like cool smoke india it's like i'm watching a movie on my motorcycle which is awesome i do like i really do like the feel the sound just everything about the um the 111 thunderstroke thunderstroke how do you make fun of that you know uh what engine you get i get got the i got the thunderstroke oh man it's awesome another thing i noticed when i hopped on this bike for the first time was how the whole fairing system the whole fairing setup just seems lower than on a harley which i like that i really like that because i always felt like it was taking up all my scene all my road you know what i mean now i i write holidays all the time and i don't really notice it but when you jump on this you're like man i like that it just seems real uh real clean and now they're able to do that because they have this they got this variable windshield that you can just pull up and it makes a difference blocks the wind from hitting you see before it was down a lot of wind was hitting my face if you're into that type of thing if you like when hitting your face and all you know then um yeah you have it down now i'm sure there's also options for larger or smaller not smaller but larger windshields so if you wanted to you know come up here and just you know block everything you know that's definitely an option see right there telling me both my front and rear tires are low at 28 pounds and 33 pounds and i need to change oil on it it's a very odd it's a very responsive bike grabbing the clutch clutch is nice and light i like the throttle response it is throttled by wire sometimes you drive a throttle by water wire bike and it just seems a little it just seems a little different you know i mean you get used to it instantly but it seems different this just this feels like normal feels like every other bike i've ever ridden in my entire life now of course a touring motorcycle of this magnitude would obviously have to have cruise control and this one does i can't wait to take this thing on the zero to 60 see what it does i'm gonna guess five and a half five and a half or faster a little wet road hogging up my day i like this bike i like i like the way it feels i like the i like the grip i like the way it smells i really like the way it smells i have not messed too much with the uh with the actual radio in the stereo and diving into that tells me the direction i'm going which i guess that's good 59 degrees so it's pretty cold outside normally you'd be pretty chilly you know most of this those uh the speakers and the fairings blocking any wind from it in my gloves which i love very very comfortable bike so let me uh let me make let me say this if you're considering a street light you might end up buying it you might end up buying a street light you might end up liking the street light better well you'd always be wondering man would i have liked that indian better let's see how it does in the 0-60 come on thunder thunderstroke don't fail me now there what up boss love this bike they're claiming this thing is getting like 40 miles to the gallon which is awesome so you're gonna do i think two over like 240 miles to the tank which is plenty of riding that's fairly uh fairly normal for motorcycles hold up highway pegs let me kick my feet up on this yo no no no you're kidding me someone put harley davidson highway pegs on this thing that what what can't do that they they feel horrible they put them on wrong they should be reversed horrible man it's always like crazy of course this thing is more made for the highway than anything else it feels great it feels great cruising on the highway i like this bike i'd be pleased to have this bike in my stable i'm not sure if it's how the bike smells but probably more the air around the bike's mouth but i'm smelling that kellogg's plant and man that smells good all right guys let's head back to the shop and we'll tell you guys which one i would rather buy so which one would i rather have this one of the street glide well i already have a harley davidson in the stable so it needs a variety
