The Real Reason We Avoid Buying Indian Motorcycles

and he's like this is illegal you can't change odometers this bike is tainted I don't want it take it back [Music] so let's happen about a year ago and we were at a olive we've had a car auction sometimes we go to the car auctions and they've got they have bike sales from dealerships that traded bikes in and they don't know about us yet and we gotta eat what we thought was a really really good deal on a 2016 Indian chief vintage the bike had 4,000 miles on it and it was a perfect shape and we got it for twelve thousand seven hundred seventy dollars including D including auction fees we probably paid like twelve five for it and then an extra two hundred seventy dollars of auction fees so this is the first Indian we've ever had we were pumped we're looking at we're looking at sale price everyone else to sell anything for $18,000 or they listen to break $10,000 worth think we're gonna make a lot of money on this bike we bring it back Caleb's driving he's really enjoying it everything's working good I'm driving and I'm reeling in joy I'm enjoying everything's working good but then we realized that so we get it back we take photographs of it all domitor everything like we normally do and then the odometer kind of fades out the light on the odometer just kind of stops working and it fades out and you can't you can't see it anymore but we have photographic proof of how many miles were actually don't so we call the bike still under warranty we call Indian the local Indian dealership and we say hey this is this is what's going on it's normal how do you fix it they said bring it in the the warranty is transferable all you have to do is pay 50 bucks we take it to be taken back to Indian they put a new the helmet they put into a whole new uh gauge on it we're like awesome this is great so they bring it back to us I jump on the bike and take a first spin and the mile say zero zero zero I call up Indian I'm like like what's up with this they're like oh well we have a little we have a little piece of paper it's the equivalent of napkin weave a piece of paper that says how many miles are actually on the thing and whenever you sell just show this to a person and I'm like this is the sketchiest look thing this ruins the value of the bike it's absolutely ruined to value the bike now we can't sell I can I'm not gonna sell this bike and tell people that the bike has less miles of what it actually has on it now what you could have done is you could have just rode the MA rode the bike for a thousand miles and then set on the bike at slow miles that's deceitful I can't do that and then the bike kind of 6,000 miles when it looks like 5,000 miles and I did you know I'm not gonna do that so Indian they're like that's what we can't fix it they Indian told me that they're like we can not fix it I'm like this is crazy so there's a local speedometer shop five minutes away from my shop I call those guys out I'm like can you guys fix it they've done some stuff they fixed some speedometer for Harley Davidsons for me I say can you guys takes it he's like I've never done it before bring it down he brings it down he's digging into it he has a problem he has to make a special connection to fit into the bus system he's not able to do it so then he calls me up and he's like I can't do it come get your bike 300 bucks I'll call hold on man I was like you're charging me 300 bucks to do to do this you didn't do anything he's like yeah but you know I mean and then so we kind of go back and forth and eventually I was like you know what I'm gonna pay you 300 bucks but you didn't do nothing and then he then he kind of it kind of changes his mind and he's like you don't want a little fixing so he keeps in front of a couple weeks ends up fixing and ends up getting it it was more of a personal challenge at that point he ends up fixing it putting to the exact miles that we're on the picture I think we had a 10 miles just to get it to the shop so at that point in time all right so 50 bucks so we have 1277 into it plus 50 bucks for the initial put the warranty and her name was 850 bucks to fix the old ometer we listed by Pony Bank it sells on ebay it sells eBay fees about 175 bucks it sells on ebay to another dealership for 14 five to another motorcycle dealership in Tennessee we ship the bike over there and the guy gets it and he is super pumped about the bike and then he opens up the saddlebag and he sees the slip showing that we fixed the odometer and he's like what's up with this and we're like oh we were just we told what happened and he's like this is illegal you can't change odometers this bike is tainted I don't want it take it back now at this point I have no I don't have to take any bike back I sold to a dealer I don't have to do anything I'm like all right he makes me pay for shipping both ways that cost me 1,200 bucks now he was saying that it was illegal what I was doing I looked it up I had a lawyer look it up the law is very clear you cannot change the odometer for the purpose of misleading people from like you can't alter the bikes mileage using the old ometer for the point of like deceptive people like the bike the odometer has to represent the actual miles which we did we went out of our way we paid money to make sure that the bike represented the actual miles of the bike proving which photographic evidence and dates and times that this was the actual miles of the bike if anything what Indian did was illegal of saying that now this bike has to 0 miles when it actually had 5,000 miles so legally we were in the right I'm not worried about that so now we have the bike we get the bike back it's it's been a hassle we ship and it's like five months we're shipping it up or shipping it back deal with all this stuff and everyone else's bikes listen for way more than our I'm not sure why ours isn't selling it was the same color it was a beautiful bike I lied I really didn't love the bike we finally a couple months later some guy comes up he decreased a buy it he likes the bike and he buys it with we sell for 14:5 at this point of time we're losing money and he he's like oh it's not inspected oh my god no problem we'll do the deal we'll take it over to our inspection place I mean the bikes in perfect shape it'll pass we take it to our inspection place I you drive it over to the inspection place we'll off we'll pay we'll pay to get inspected no big deal he drives it over there he notices in the inspection place there's a nail in the tire probably I mean we would have noticed it but probably just happened on the way to the inspection place oh my god this is Horace is horrible so no one else other than Indian has a tire for that bike now obviously we could have we could have bought one off of the Internet it would have been way cheaper but it would have taken a couple days we needed to fix it right now so we take the bike to Indian Indian rakes us over the coals it costs us around 450 bucks to put one tire on this bike you know cuz they're charging us crack money prices all this fronts this tire it's normally 150 bucks online no 350 bucks 100 hundred bucks to mountain-valley because it was insane and so at this point we are losing a thousand dollars on this bike but there's a silver lining we made a couple of videos with this bike we did the new Indian test-drive video we did the what you need to know before you buy an Indian chic vintage video and we did a 2015 is the in is Indian smoother than harley-davidson video the first video we made $7.99 the second video we made two dollars and 32 cents off of admonished under the ad monetizing and the third video we made 72 cents so we only lost $990 on the chief vintage it was a it was the last
