Shade Solutions - I NEED RELIEF

here we are in umbrella land we have 13 umbrellas in this landscape because the homeowner they are sun seekers but there's a lot in the family that love their shade as well so this video is all about how you can get shade relief in your outdoor living space around a pool around your covered structure around your outdoor living space in general can't wait to let you see this right now [Applause] oh [Music] so another idea for your shade solution in outdoor living space is the e-zip shade screen it's amazing this is the hottest part during the afternoon sun it's underneath the cover the sun comes right in and bakes the homeowners out of here so having this is imperative it's a simple little control you hit the button one little button and here it goes and it gives you that shade in the afternoon sun that is going to mean so much and i won't let it crash into the food here because all you do is push a little button and then you click it right back up and it's good to go so e-zip with this they wanted to be able to have a little area where they can dine and be able to close the shade fx and then to be able to dine underneath that and then once that sun moved by they'd just like open it right back up and they'd have that open air feel again so here's the way this looks fully closed providing that shade that we're talking about does an amazing really amazing job and you can see the dining table under there you can imagine a hot day how well that's going to shade you but watch this and how easy it is to open the shade fx and i'm gonna show you what it is looks like to bring it out and open it all up as simple as that and all of a sudden you have the the full sun if you want it or you can shade yourself when you want it as well in the middle of the sun they're also amazing for waterproof in fact i think they have a five year warranty and i think a 10 year warranty check out the website but they are really amazing at doing water control and rain protection as help you [Music] so [Music] [Music] so for the umbrella part i wanted to come back to umbrella land here we have 13 different umbrellas just to let you know we have three on the upper deck way up top we have one under the dining table one of the other dining table there's another there's three dining tables here and the reason is is because when you have a large entertaining space you need a lot a lot of places for people to go and you need on a hot day you need to have shade protection so here it is we have umbrellas over here um right here there's actually an umbrella behind the camera too so umbrellas do a great job because you can really bring in a focal shade spot and not have to do a mass shade area like some of the other ideas that we're covering another thing about umbrellas is they're a very mobile way of creating shade destinations you can bring the shade to you no matter where you're at in the landscape you can bring it over to you it's very mobile very easy to move toss an umbrella holder in there and even on a windy day that thing is going to be stable and allow you to have some shade protection [Music] [Music] now here's a pergola that has a spot in my heart for shade solutions this is a louvered pergola so you really have the best of both worlds with this pergola if it's overcast you can open it up and you don't have to worry about the sun baking down on you but if the sun is hitting you and you just don't want it you can just completely close it no sun will get through that in fact no rain will get through that so this is a very good solution the louvered pergola we're gonna have a whole video on the stupid pergola in the future it's a great little solution but it does really give you the best of both worlds to be able to enjoy the open air space we're able to close it all up and enjoy a dry environment [Music] so [Music] so [Music] perhaps one of the easiest shade solutions and the least expensive option would be the shade sale option maybe the umbrellas match this but the shade cells are really inexpensive and you can find them in lots of different shapes lots of different sizes and really they're very flexible you can put them on a pergola you can set some posts in the landscape and post them from the house over to the post or it could just all be free form so shade cells for shade solutions are very well known around the world and is a very nice solution for your outdoor space [Music] now if you have a property that by chance has a nice shade tree on the property you might strongly consider adding a destination over to that shade tree you can do a patio underneath it you can just do a little sitting area really and that all of a sudden creates a beautiful destination for you for maybe your significant other to be able to go out and just hang out in the afternoon sun a place to cool off place to read a book by yourself whatever the case having a shade tree is wonderful so here we have a couple of shade trees and that's another thing i want to talk with you about is how you can have a specimen tree a large tree anything that can provide shade from sun exposure obviously with those two trees they're very strategically placed to provide shade for those in the pool during that afternoon heat now during the afternoon the sun is right there in the sky and it just bakes the pool so it's nice to be able to have a little bit of protection from the the sun even in the pool but specimen trees can be used even in the landscape you can have a little destination out to a little area underneath the tree and that can just be a very nice little look in the landscape to be able to go hang out in the afternoon sun another very good option for shade solutions is a garden arbor now an arbor's a little bit different from some of the other solutions you might not go out and necessarily grab a seat and hang out underneath an arbor but what an arbor is going to do is it's going to allow vines to grow up in and it will provide very nice shade for you it's also a nice little afternoon meander in the garden so if you can imagine creating some shade some of the solutions that we've talked about with the shade trees the arbor with a vine growing on it these will start to give you a little shady oasis to go out to during that afternoon sun another shade solution especially around a swimming pool would be the modern pool cabana now i'm using the whirlpool cabana pretty much in the context of the modern pool cabana because the traditional pool cabana would be very it'd be almost more like a hut so the modern polka band is really whatever you can imagine so it's a place obviously for shade seeking you know if you're done in the sun and you want to go and kind of cool off any covered structure around a pool is really going to fit that bill so it could be a pool cabana you could even have curtains on the side kind of really either make it private or really just block the sun from entering that space all together you could even just have a covered deck as you're seeing in this situation you can cover the deck make it watertight have a little spot to kind of go relax in the shade after a long hot day of swimming [Music] another really good shade solution in your garden space would be converting an old garden shed to a destination it could be a fully enclosed structure like we're seeing here maybe cut some holes in the sides add some windows you can create that modern she shed or the modern man cave out in the garden space either put a tv in there put a beer keg or just have an arts and crafts room a little spot in the garden to be able to go out to during the summer heat maybe put an air conditioner in there and all of a sudden you have a nice little oasis [Music] the classic pergola for shade is well known i do need to say my own opinion on a pergola i've never quite understood these for shade you're going to get filtered sun through this but it is going to be filtered so the intensity of the sun will not be there but if you want complete shade solution and i'm a shade seeker guys so when i am outside i need a place to kind of go to and make sure that the sun is not going to hit my my face unless i get some sunblock on there or something but the pergola just does not give me the the shade protection that i really need but for many people and it's it's well known as a as a shade provider so it's something to think about it might be right for you and it might not be right for you but a pergola is another makes the list of our shade solutions for your outdoor space another wonderful shade solution is the full covered structure many times they feature some of the grand outdoor living such as the fireplace the bar the kitchen etc but really what these do is they just provide a great summer refuge for that heat so this is different from a pool cabana mostly because these don't feature a pool but really the modern covered structure can be in so many shapes and sizes this one here is the a-frame many times they come in lean to maybe it's a hip and ridge style or a traditional gazebo style so lots of different covered structures to seek that shade in your outdoor space [Music] something else i want to mention as a shade solution is just your existing structures perhaps your house has a small little overhang maybe even one as small as you're seeing right here but we created a custom bench now that custom bench created destination and because you have that little destination under the cover all of a sudden you just created a nice little hangout zone in the afternoon sun [Music] and what we could do is automatically with a remote control make it go out fully out also has the lights on it you can see the sun just blasts them during the day and they want to watch tv you know but what you do at night is you make it go bye-bye and there it goes that's it very very convenient let you see another angle here totally disappears [Music] and if all the shade solutions fail you always have the sun hat this is a piranha joe sun hat out of cancun mexico but really any sun hat that gives you the shade no matter where you're at
