Shack to Cottage takes a TEAM

update on the cottage Shack situation this is what I've been trying to explain if you look at the way this house was constructed these boards go all the way up I'm thinking the attic access place kind of separated but if you look to the right and left of the attic access I have to think that board has got to be I don't know 20 foot tall one solid board on both sides no breaks isn't that amazing so this side of the house is just one layer thick of these Cypress planks but the front I believe and the other side in the middle are double thick just like this we have to pull all this down on this side and put two by four walls up it's crazy but it's super cool I'm learning so much all right so we're taken down the Cypress and and half of this down do you see the supports foreign all right pretty much all of the skin of Cyprus is gone we're totally opened up do y'all have to take off that right there by the porch or that can stay that can stay yay because you're not really supporting anything all right then put some walls up now with two by fours it's gonna be strong then we can level it all right all right it doesn't look like much but this little Shack just had all the interior living room walls removed move my door so this space is going to get window there and a window over here so they can put a couch in between them the room is about 16 by 16. what's 16 by 16 square which is nice it's a nice room and they have nine foot ceilings and they're going to be the pretty wood we can't save the floor because you see right there it's rotten and we had to cut out all of that section to make the house sound so we're gonna have to put a new flooring but it's still going to be a painted floor um and then this whole wall is coming out to open up back into the kitchen area which is another like 10 no 16 and a half by almost 10. this is nice I'm so excited so this would be the right side of the cottage and Nathaniel has removed all of the Hardy Board then a whole layer of old really gross siding that was like cardboardish kind of stuff and now we're down to the original Cypress and actually the way they built this house was a cyber cement vertical on the outside and horizontal tongue and groove on the inside to make the walls super super um sturdy um I think it's kind of cool so the back porch Edition back here is now solid and we're about to take all of these windows out and close it up this window right here is going to be the bathroom area probably a little scooch this way but from this wall here there's six feet of bathroom and then another 10 foot bedroom in the front but that window is not going to be there um the bedroom will have the window on the front of the house and um that'll be enough because I like to have a nice bed wall to be able to put furniture the room will be kind of long and narrow super excited um let's see over here in the back this bedroom is going to get a Long window right here and it should happen today this side I'll walk over here this over here we got to save you can see the vertical I mean sorry horizontal this window gets closed up a little bit to be over a sink hey dude and then this doorway needs to be made taller this doorway was only six foot one tall it's a little bit short door my contract is like six eight he couldn't even you know he had the duck big time he knocked his head off decapitating with that door and over here we're still got the siding up they're gonna finish all this out but today we should be cutting two windows here really spread apart no evidently it's update day to day this is the cottage we have taken out the door that made it a duplex and all the windows have been removed and reframed and they're waiting to get their new windows to come in Steve at quality thank you so much I can't wait to see what you do I think that's gonna happen sometime next week but right now we're going in going in he opened it up we check out the wall that separated the living room this is the living room that's the kitchen we are doing some crazy foundation work down here to make sure where they joined the porch to the house wasn't the greatest but now it is because my man over here Mr Tony with three T's my car contractor and his son Co and Nathaniel it's a team guys they do everything to make everything amazing we can't do it without them we are so blessed um this is the first time that the two units have been open this is once again those slabs of Cypress that they constructed everything with we have to take all of this down and reframe a 2x4 wall but this side has old tongue and groove going horizontal we're gonna try to save something Greg wants to take the Cypress and turn it into shutters for our house on Main Street which I think that would be super cool to use this old Cypress for that if he has enough that's kind of the goal um but we'll see how that happens um we have Co here taking out a whole wall that is actually the back of a closet um we are gonna walk this way and we are gonna go into our first kind of you can tell bedroom so this is the bedroom and we back it up a little bit and this is the closet area right here in here I love the big window We're Gonna Save the cool beadboard ceiling I'm super excited about that we might try to save this wall but we have to move this door over so that's kind of an iffy situation there I'm not sure I'm in the way completely in the way while they're working but I just wanted to give you guys an update all of this has been reframed it looks good look at that it's amazing guys we're having so much fun we cannot wait to see this place done and have a sweet sweet ladies here or a sweet family living here and growing and stronger in the Lord every day what a life you guys have a blessing got a roof we're getting one step closer to Cottage status I know officially it won't be Cottage Scottish till we get the porch on but we're getting closer so excited Windows would help too Windows would help too it's so cute well y'all look at that now that's just deciding we're not painting it yellow it's going to be pink but we have Windows and siding the Hardy Board amazing stuff we left this original it's probably not original it's probably I don't know when they would have redone that probably when they ripped the porch off the original porch but we're leaving the vertical on the front and uh next tomorrow I think they might start caulking or next week but paint next week we should see some primer on for sure isn't that crazy the windows look so good it looks so clean it looks bigger oh my gosh my little shock is becoming a cottage I'm so excited I don't think we can see him you can see me the floors are all ready to be had the new floors laid everything's cleaned up it's so cool it's a cottage update and I think we're almost officially Cottage we're still kind of a uh shackage maybe or um I don't know but it's so cute we already have all the Hardy Board up all the windows are in this is all primed and ready for paint it's gonna be pink I'm so excited and then once all this gets painted we are remember putting that beautiful porch back on I'm so excited all of these poles which are super strong will be covered with some cute wood but their strength will be inside those things but we want to go inside for a second there's so much happening inside um you're looking at all the insulation that has been put in some on the floor this is our wood floors that are going in and I want to take you in so we're in the living room we've got big windows and then this big beam up here separates my kitchen which was the old back porch um it's really nice I gotta show you this oops I bought the trip over something this is gonna be our back door right here it's so cute I'm so excited about it and then we have two bedrooms look at this we have a tub we have a cute vanity I'm so excited and look at this these wood boards and Daniels lay in our first solid wood floors I've ever put in in my life they a little tricky they've been giving him a little bit of grief but he got it Angel's gonna win floor gonna lose but it's gonna be beautiful and then these floors right here we were able to save so these floors are going to be painted and the decision on what we're gonna do with the new floors in this area are we going to seal them clear coat them paint them I've never had to deal this is like a number one Oak our number one Pine I don't know I know that there's it's probably Pine I don't know whatever it is it's the number one and I have to figure out what I'm gonna do but you see this cute window right here this is where my sink's gonna go this is where my refrigerator is gonna go oh and then I'm going to show you on some pictures in the extra pictures you'll see right here is going to be an antique Island that I've been working on I got that from The Bargain Barn and um on yokely road and Franklin thank you Marnie and then right where you see the door leaning against the wall I have this amazing antique antique buffet that I bought in Texas at Round Top um from a good friend of mine there Adam I'm gonna send him pictures um I'm refinishing that and then this area right here is going to be stackable washer and dryer so they have washer and drying at the place um here they don't have to go anywhere else it is just going to be amazing these ceilings right here are a hundred and like eight years old they're solid and we're going to try to save them so this was the original House this is where it stops and then the back porch was added or taken in that has a bead board ceiling um this is like a tongue and groove I think it's Cypress um and it's amazing we are just so excited y'all keep praying for my sweet ladies that are gonna come live here we're just so excited to be part of their journey and that God is going to bless them and use them mightily you guys have a great day
