all right we're going to see how good of a dozer i actually did get it is uh 25 degrees out here getting down 25 degrees last night it may be 30 now um let's check the hole in it i'm gonna do a cold start on this thing without glue plugs just to see how well it starts so it's i found that interesting it's got a uh like a little locking cap um it's right there where it needs to be uh over the lucky put a lock in there so nobody can pull out the dipstick i'll leave that open let's do a coaster i don't know if those this thing it doesn't even have glue plugs but we don't have to worry about glove plugs i thought it had them it doesn't all right let's see what happens fire knoll all right so first things first what i'm going to do is uh take one of these hoses off and get two new hoses made that go down here to the tilt cylinder uh i can't really do a whole lot with the dozer that cylinder's gotta be first it'll be later in the week before i get the seal kits for that what i'm going to do on it today is uh i got to go get this hose made while they're open this morning finish getting all the parts to do the service on this and uh while i'm there i'll pick all that up so what i've got to do now is go ahead and trace down everywhere that hose goes and take these clamps off and this uh bracket right here so i can get to the fitting to break that line loose and i'm just going to take one out for right now because they're pretty much get to the exact same length because they get you the exact same spot or last no not alone hammer found a hammer hmm oh i might need an impact on that one there we go there we go so i'm not 100 sure that this is the hose but there's only two and one looks older than the other one so i'm gonna go with this is it hopefully that doesn't keep leaking i may go get a plug and put in that let me go get a plug and put on that i don't want to sit there and drain the tank no i'm too big fingers crossed it just pulls out and it doesn't oh gosh hope i don't have to take that whole cover off the bottom i take the whole grill out it goes all the way down there yep i'm hoping with this last bolt out i can just swing the grill uh just over and leave it pivoting on that top is what i'm hoping because i don't want to try to pick that everything up i gotta loosen up a little more oh there we go all right guess what i still can't get to it oh somebody's made this a two piece hose oh that's nifty so i assume it came this way from the factory uh they actually put a two-piece hose in here so i assume if you rip this side off or bust it or something all you have to do is just uh splice it into the other hose that goes from here to the other half of the tractor um [Music] yeah well that's gonna make it a little easier i think i think now i can uh i think i can pull that through yeah i'm going to fish it out of there but i think i can do it without having to drop that belly pan because it looks like it weighs about 300 pounds let me see if i can get this hose out and i'll just get two made identical to this the good news is the one clamp that i saw that was down there i saw the other hose was not in it um they felt the same way i did and somehow unbolted it and thank god all that just snatched out with it so that's probably not going to get put back on there because you've got to take that humongous pan off right there and i'm afraid i'm not gonna be able to get it put back on there by myself because it's like quarter inch steel but it'll be okay if not we'll get a new hose all right so i need to uh go get two hoses like this and two hoses i like this one this one has definitely seen better days well it's finally out of there i think it's about 15 feet long get that fixed up and should never have to worry about that again all right so we got uh two sets of new hoses to go on here uh plug in here so i can fish it through there and hopefully not get dirt uh in the hose we did have one little boo-boo and he accidentally put the uh it's a two-piece hose it's a 12 foot and an eight foot or 11 foot and a eight foot he accidentally put the big fitting on the 11 foot one instead of the eight one so my splice is gonna be out here a little bit but it is what it is i'm not gonna go back i just realized it now so let's go ahead and try to get this hose fish through there and and i'm gonna take the other one off all right so we got the uh hoses fish through there uh ended up having to push it through there and robert was over here with a piece of wire to snag it from the end and pull it through there um these connections are instead of being right there out here now but i think if they ever get ripped off they're gonna get ripped off from here there so i think it'll still be okay i'm probably going to take some zip ties and zip tie all this stuff together and tidy it up a little bit but the hoses for the tilt cylinder are now replaced so so we're trying to change the oil and i think that's where it goes there's just a little bit of debris in there that is not where it goes what the hell's the dream huh it's not right there well or not so comes in from the side there we're learning maybe i don't know it's tight that's righty tidy you don't want to move oh boy all right finally it only took what three of us to figure out it's a side mounted drain well the plug's right here it's a little valve thing and you got to put a ratchet and extension in there and we're hoping oil's about to come out lucky there this is the right color right i'm glad i didn't take that i was like that's good all right so i'm just gonna let that slowly sit there and drain out and uh pretty sure it's gonna hold more than that pan wheel and cut it off and uh go dump the pan and let what's left drain back into it so that's actually pretty cool once you exactly figure out how to use it all right we're taking the oil filter off i'm taking it off and it's got one thread as well oh that's a fancy one that's a cat filter look how fancy that is let me go dump this in something and uh put new filter on that's enough i'll spill the rest now it's time for a little oil got the drain plug put back in hopefully that's going to go in there it is we change the filter we have to change the filter so we thought we were changing the uh hydraulic filter and it ended up being the transmission filter which i'm doing the uh oh had a good little dent there in it didn't it and uh it's not horrible i've seen better but other than the dent the fluid don't look terrible and uh the only reason we discovered that was not the hydraulic is the hydraulic fluid is red and that's that's not red so let's put it back on there and we'll find where the uh hydraulic filters are oh that's at least it's red so we know that's the hydraulic filter my only question is how are we going to get the second one out good oh we got it is there a top or bottom no want to know what kind of hydraulic fluid is red should i mention that we spent about 10 minutes trying to find out where the hydraulic filters were i guess you just did there's no writing on either side so i assume they just go in there like that we're gonna need a new o-ring but we're gonna make that one last for right now um i wonder if you're supposed to put them on here there we go now what titan i can't i gotta well i might be able to no i don't want to cross thread it though that's grabbing now that was easy enough i'm kind of digging the red hydraulic fluid i hope it's not atf last but not least the fuel filter oh i dropped it luckily it all ran out of the hole down there almost into the pan this one does have a screw out primer right here beside it so you just unscrew it and pump it you can hear the air coming out i already filled up the filter with fuel it's pumping up nice and tight so it should be about full hard to get to right there i think it's gonna be good tighten that up oil's full start it up [Music] hopefully i got enough air out of the system about to find out let's see what kind of mysteries we find changing the air filter but let me get the back one [Music] [Music] a little dirty not too bad got some leafs and stuff in there how does that one come out there's not a wing nut on it oh it's a bolt in one alrighty there's about two four six there's eight bolts that hold that thing in all right well i've got to uh get the socket set and unbolt that filter so it wasn't another bolt i just had to take a block of wood and knock it loose i guess the uh gasket formed a good seal it was not going to come off i actually had to pry pretty hard with a fork with a piece of wood to get it out of there get any little debris out got a new filter the one i took out did not look that bad but i was committed now [Music] there we go now i got to get all those bolts back on there i mean that's literally how far they're back in there and finally the outer filter oh let's see what was the pattern to get this thing in here there we go [Music] [Music] i think i gotta squish that seal down moment of truth will it take grease the idler is moving [Music] crack is coming up [Music] well it was that looks a lot better i got to take some grease there uh i don't want to get it too tight i want to use it uh pull those a little bit first to make sure the track doesn't get over tight sometimes it's hard to get it just right without moving it back and forth i was a little bit surprised but i kind of wasn't actually ever grease fitting i could possibly find on this dozer took grease that one right there didn't want to take it but after a couple good looks there built up enough enough pressure and shot it out so all the fittings in there took it everything on the blade linkages on the levers down there and just oh just all in all impressed i think it's going to be a good machine i got air filter in and the uh cleaned out the pre-cleaner i do need to one thing left to do on this dozer is still like i said got to do the transmission fluid and drain the final drives i probably just let him do that as well so i don't have to deal with that's probably 10 or 15 gallons of some nasty stinky oil but i'll at least pull that cap off and see what it looks like in there moment of truth let's see what's in the final drives that wasn't tight [Music] well that's nice you can see the gear roll it's literally right there where it needs to be not bad she's looking better and better little girl did not look bad at all it's not even jet black yet [Music] somebody's taking good care of this thing let's check the other side that one's tighter [Music] hopefully this isn't a sign that that one hadn't been looking there or right there where it needs to be i know i'm gonna regret this but look at that it's not even hardly dirty i don't even know if i want to change that huh we'll ponder i want to clean this cap off get the crud up i don't know what are your thoughts would you change the the gear oil i mean it looked pretty clean transmission fluid [Music] i'm debating if i even want to change it you come out here in the sunlight and it's just as clean as the oil that comes out of the uh the bucket it's right there at the ad had mark don't mean it's not definitely definitely not black like betty was that was some nasty transmission fluid i'll ponder i might use it a little bit first see how everything goes before i dump 500 500 worth of uh transmission fluid in it all right pull it out from under the shelter time to pull it out of the shop here so i even adjusted the rain cap on the exhaust pipe so that it fits down nice and tightly let's fire it up [Music] oh yeah oh well the dozer looks a little different with no cylinders on it but uh we took all three of them off that left one right here was puking uh pretty good the seals were completely gone on it so i said well that one's that bad i'm sure the other three are the same so let's go ahead and repack all those so he took those off and uh couldn't get the nuts broke loose so i had to get to a hydraulic shop and got those broke loose but he's gonna come back this morning and get those cylinders put back on and the old d6 should be good to go well we just got finished uh tightening the belts up and he got all the cylinders put back on the dozer today took some shims out of the cross members and got the blade tightened up a little bit from the side to side sway well i'm kind of antsy to go uh sink the blade and dirt i don't have a whole lot i can do but i'm gonna run to the back back there and push a pile of dirt a little bit and see exactly what this thing will do i couldn't use it when i first got it because that cylinder was puking so bad but all three of them are repacked now and i think it's time to go push a little bit of dirt [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] do [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] so [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right well i think the old d6 did pretty good uh didn't want to push my dirt too far i was trying to save my pile of topsoil but i shuffled it around a little bit and everything seemed to uh go pretty good one thing i didn't notice it it actually shifts so easily you'll actually put it in second uh instead of first when you're backing up so i guess i uh oiled up all the joints a little too good it just it's almost like hydrostatic now but uh everything seems to uh be doing just fine on it i need to uh take it up there to the house and uh spray some degreaser on it and get all that oil from uh working on it off of it and she'll be uh ready to go to the job site
