we're in John chapter 6 this morning we're in verses 16 through 21 looking at a familiar text we're gonna look at Jesus walking on water anyone heard the story before yeah most of us have here's what our tendency is and we hear a familiar story sometimes we just check out here's why because we think we get the main point we think we understand that we think we know what's going on so why even look at it again maybe you're reading through it and you're on your own and you're like no I know this Jesus he walks on water it's kind of cool and then you just breeze past the whole story I don't want you to do that this morning I know that can be our tendency when we approach familiarity is just say wow let's move on to next week let's not do that this morning I believe the Christian life starts and stays with Jesus here's what I mean by that it's not like you get saved and then you just grow up and don't need Jesus anymore okay it's not as if you understand the gospel and know who Jesus is and then move on for the rest of your life as if because you understood Jesus then and knew what he did then you don't need him anymore that's not true I don't know about you but I need Jesus every day I need him every moment every minute every single day of my life I need Jesus so I want you to approach this morning with that in mind that you this morning need Jesus okay if you believe that can you just say real quick I need Jesus why man let's just pray and be done then everyone knows they need Jesus if we can go home not so simple hey so let me before we start I want to show you the main theme of the Gospel of John what we've been doing we've been doing this Jesus is and then we've kind of been filling in the blank every week now what that doesn't mean it doesn't mean you get to decide who Jesus is it doesn't mean you get to impose upon him your own agenda it doesn't you don't get to decide like I want Jesus to be this therefore let's fill in the blank with Jesus is mine whatever I'm we're not doing that what we're doing is going through John and looking at it and allowing God's Word to tell us who Jesus is and then answer the question who is Jesus weekend and week out so the theme of the Gospel of John we find in John chapter 20 verse 30 and 31 and we've got it up on one of the screens for the theme of the gospel is this it says now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples that stopped real quick and John chapter 21 the very last thing John tells us as that if he were to write down everything Jesus said and everything Jesus did that the libraries of the world could not contain it I wish we had access to it I wish we could no I wish we could see I wish we could understand everything because it would be awesome I think we missed so much but the Bible sufficient it's given us what we're supposed to have but these are written the things that are in this book signs are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name so here's the purpose of the Gospel of John show you a miracle and then because you can see what Jesus does and who Jesus is you would believe and have life in his name so the way John does this he's shown us he shows us seven big miracles which is weird that the theme of the book is seeing miracle meet Jesus but he only gives us seven he only gives us seven mark give us some gives us more Matthew gives us more Luke gives us more but John only gives us seven miracles we've already covered three of them I believe we've actually got it up on the screen again how many things we've covered so far John to Jesus turned water into wine you remember that he's at the wedding and and his mom Mary says Jesus they're out of wine and he's like what's that got to do with me woman and then he but he means that in like a nice way more like woman who birthed me who loves me what does that after doing and then he produces 900 bottles of wine out of dirty like ceremonial cleaning water and the text says it's not just like cheap mums wine but like really really good wine the wedding master actually says like Wow most people bring out the really good stuff first and then the bad stuff because actor everyone's drunk they don't care what the stuff tastes like but Jesus saves the best for last he doesn't just make wine he makes good one John chapter four he healed the officials son the thing I love about that is that he didn't go travel to see the Sun the guy came and said can you come heal my son and Jesus said no I'm not gonna come heal your son he's healed and just heals him like that for miles and miles away John chapter 5 he healed the invalid at the pool that guy had been paralyzed laying there trusting in superstition and ceremony that if he hopped in the pool first that he'd be healed and Jesus says that's not the way this works and then heals him and then stirs the pot it makes all the pharisees mad it was a wonderful story the next thing he did he feeds the 5000 we saw that last week it's not just 5,000 there's also women and children I was probably like 20,000 but 5,000 still a lot right not to like undermine Jesus I fed 12 people last night with food I bought from Albertsons and how was a lot of people right but Jesus fed 5000 plus with food he just made because Jesus can do that because he's incredible this morning we're going to see Jesus walked on water again in John 6 and then the last two were going to see John 9 he gives a blind man's sight and then in John 11 he raises Lazarus from the dead so we're almost done with the miracles already but I want you to keep in mind the purpose of the miracles is that you would see them know who Jesus is and then believe in Jesus for the salvation of your soul okay so as we approach this text this morning I don't want you to be bored of Jesus because Jesus is amazing and he's changed my life I hope he's changed your life as well so let me read John 6 verses 16 through 21 and I'm going to pray for us and we're going to hop in to this morning's text when evening came his disciples went down to the sea got into a boat and started across the sea to Capernaum it was now dark and Jesus had not yet come to them the sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing when they had rowed about three or four miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat and they were frightened but he said to them it is I do not be afraid then they were glad to take him into the boat and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going let me pray for us God thank you for allowing us to be here at Highlands Church this morning God we know we're not worthy to be your children and we know there's nothing we've done to grant ourself access to you but you've done everything for us you came and you made a way you've forgiven us of our sins so we can have a right relationship with you and your father's the Holy Spirit this morning would you convict our hearts and open our minds make us repent change us so we can live in a manner worthy of your son Jesus Christ God we love you would you bless us this morning and all God's people said amen interesting maybe you read the story and you thought where's Peter why because in Matthew 14 we read the story where Jesus comes to him on water and then Peter hops out and he walks on water for bid and then Falls and Jesus picks them up again that part actually isn't in this story or where's all the detail isn't there some other stuff that's normally mentioned well not in John 6 in mark 6 that's where this whole story is also found they both gave way more detail than John for whatever reason John kind of treats this little story is as not a huge thing but it's still very significant when we read it it almost seems like okay they fed the 5,000 and this was the huge thing going on and john wants to focus on that but by the way in between here Jesus walked on water calmed the storm no big deal and then he went over here and met with the crowds and did the crowd thing again for whatever reason John isn't very specific doesn't give a whole lot of detail so throughout this morning I'm going to be going to mark 6 and Matthew 14 just so we can get the full picture of what's going on verse 1 it starts like this when the evening came his disciples went down to the sea I want to show you a picture of the sea because this is a real place this is the Sea of Galilee it's a real location we're not making it up in the beginning of chapter 6 we saw Jesus feed thousands and thousands and thousands of people now I'm not going to be real specific about the location because no one's totally sure but it was either on the left side or on the right side okay so just some context it was on one of those sides of the lake and then Jesus tells them hey get in a boat and go and they're going to Capernaum that's the place right by where it says Mount Beatitudes that's the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew five through whatever Ruiz he teaches people best sermon ever it's pretty great stuff so this is a sea of galilee it's a real place we're not making it up houston actually took a picture of it could we get the cool picture this is from looking from Tiberias I sent Houston to Israel this week to get a picture for us this morning just kidding that'd be expensive he's this is from Tiberias Houston so looking out at where the Mount of Beatitudes was and out where Capernaum was so potentially it could have been this location where Jesus fed the 5,000 and then sent his disciples to right there kind of a neat perspective or maybe it's from the other side of the lake but similar story looking across the sea and trying to find where Jesus sent them to go in Matthew 14 and Mark 6 this first verse when evening came his disciples went down to the sea actually reads with Wayne force with way more force it actually says that Jesus made his disciples get into the boat to cross the sea Jesus told them get in a boat and then go it's not as if they just wandered down and said hey let's leave Jesus here let's see what he does it's not that way Jesus actually tells them go do this and cross the lake it's interesting it's why does this matter well there are obedience to Jesus in the first place is actually what leads them to kind of a strange situation right which we'll talk more about in a minute verse 17 they got into a boat and started across the sea took a purnam it was now dark and Jesus had not yet come to them I love this phrase and started across the sea to Capernaum in the Greek it's an imperfect sentence which means they tried to but didn't complete it like they were doing their best so a better way maybe we can say is and they were trying to cross the sea Jesus sent them down into the boat and they were trying to cross the sea which kind of leads us to think well what went wrong what went wrong that they didn't cross the sea on their own well we'll see what went wrong it's kind of interesting because I know there's there's tons of details here guys I know I'm like rambling and saying lots of detail but it's it's a it's a neat story because it starts off kind of cool they watched Jesus feed the five thousand and then for the twelve disciples it kind of goes from bad to worse pretty quick and took it's really great because the first thing Jesus tells them is you go so the first thing they have going against them is that there's no Jesus and they're in a boat by themselves keep in mind this is in the middle of the night so the second thing they have going against them is that it's in the middle of the night it's totally dark can't and navigate super well at nighttime I don't know if you know that if you ever been in a boat at night but it's kind of hard to see where you're going without the electronic stuff which they didn't have that's the second thing the third thing we're gonna see well this whole storm starts happening all these waves come and the wind starts blowing and then the fourth thing which is kind of the the culminating part of where it goes from bad to worse is they see Jesus walking on a boat and what's their reaction they think he's a ghost that's what Matthew and Mark both say that they perceived Jesus to be a ghost and that is why they were terrified so we'll get there the story gets from bad to worse pretty quick the sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing now we've got a picture in the Mediterranean Sea was off on this is off to the west side okay it's a huge sea but gigantic body of water and 26 miles east is the Sea of Galilee which sits about six hundred and ninety-six feet below sea level and you can see along the two arrows I feel like I got a flight attendant doing the thing you can see along the two arrows where they would go through the gorge things and this cold sea air would race down 696 feet and then collide with this warm moist lake air and it would just stir up turbulence really really quick it wasn't it wasn't an uncommon thing for the the disciples to be out fishing and then suddenly a storm would happen in fact we saw that same thing happen in mark chapter four you guys were called that story when Jesus columns of that storm they're out on the boat and then huge storm comes so much so that the disciples are terrified and where's Jesus during all this he's in the front of the boat sleeping he's just taken a nap and they wake him up and they say Jesus don't you care that we're perishing don't you care that we're dying here and Jesus wakes up and says fear not don't be afraid I'm with you and then he rebukes the storms he rebukes the Seas rebukes the wind and everything's calm and the disciples let their left with a question all they say is who is this guy that he can even control the weather who is this guy so they've been in this situation before so pay attention to the emphasis of the details john is stressing okay here's what he's stressing there without Jesus it's dark and there's a storm and a whole reason they're there to begin with is because Jesus sent him do you ever wish that the Christian life would go something like this that you followed Jesus and then all your problems were gone right if someone sold you that version of Christianity I'm sorry they lied to you and here's the promise of following Jesus you will be forgiven for the sins for your sins and then if you live the way Jesus wants you to live the world will hate you right because of the gospel and God's Word is contrary to what the world wants to think so the promise of Jesus says I'll forgive you for your sins and then you can come live with me when I die in the meantime you better be obedient and that's going to lead you to be in some trouble okay their obedience leads them to a very rough situation it's not like a storm of life like they're in an actual storm this is a real thing that's actually going on for them see I'd like to think that okay we do wrong things that make sense to get punished if we do wrong things and we're disobedient to the Lord and make sense to have trials and turbulence and and bad stuff happen in your life I think of the prophet Jonah what does God tell Jonah Jonah go to Nineveh it's that way and Jonah says okay God and he runs this way right he flees and what does God do well Jonah ends up on a boat God sends a storm which he likes to do it's kind of fun he sends this giant storm the crews freaking out their thing and what's going on with they cast laughs and I said Jonah you got to go so they throw Jonah over the end and that's not even the end of the story right what happens after he's in the ocean swimming he gets eaten by fish right so if you're disobedient to the Lord you probably should get eaten by a fish right if God says go do this and you say no I'm going this way consequences make sense okay but for Jesus to tell them get into the boat and go that way he sends them directly into a storm and because their faith leads to obedience they find themselves in this situation friends that is the Christian life you give your life to Jesus you give your sins to Jesus you give everything to Jesus he promises you eternal life you be obedient and then we have trials see but this is the way the story doesn't end if the story just ended there and it was like and they rode and they rode and they rode their boats roughly down in the stream and then it just ended have been like man that was really unfortunate but that's not how it ends right what happens well in mark 6 it says that Jesus saw them he sees them straining and I love the NIV translation in in Matthew 14 it says he saw the disciples straining at the oars he ever used that a rail were machine at the gym just me all right anyone the torture device that's why no one uses it that's awful right that's the thing you do five minutes on it and then it looks like you've been working out for the whole day because everything just hurts and everything is is sweating and that's what these guys are doing they're rowing in fact it tells us how long they've been added in the next verse in verse 19 it says when they had rowed about three or four miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat three or four miles in a storm okay it's dark out there's no Jesus I wonder if they're thinking in their head guys hey you remember in mark chapter 4 when Jesus calmed the storm wouldn't it be great if he was here again but he's not looking at the timing of the whole thing between second watch and third watchin and fourth watch which was the way Romans kept time and it says that in fourth watch he came to them which means they've been rowing not just for one hours two hours three hours four hours or five or six or seven or eight but probably nine hours they've been at this nine hours of their own strength going through their own trials by themself and Jesus decides man I'm gonna go help him out when they rowed three or four miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat and they were frightened like well because they thought he was a ghost that's what Mark 6 in Matthew 14 say they see Jesus coming to them and do you guys ever like to insert yourself in the story and be like well if I was a disciple I would have known it was Jesus right or make like pretend you're Philip in the beginning of Mark chapter 6 when Jesus said Philip where should these people eat you'd like to say well Jesus I got you you can do it because you're God right but he doesn't do that right so you can't knock them too much but they're on this boat and they're rowing and they see some something coming to them and their first reaction for whatever reason is it's a ghost and what's Jesus's response I love it here all he says is it is I do not be afraid it is I do not be afraid you recall that verse where Jesus is speaking with the Pharisees and he tells them I tell you the truth before Abraham was I am you remember we're gonna start seeing these things and just this next week we're seeing that Jesus is the bread of life he says I am the bread of life he does this seven times in the book of John says I am this I am this I am this I am this the word there is a go like leggo my eggo egg o æneas I am and what I love about the sentence from Jesus right here when he says it is I do not be afraid guess what it is I is in the Greek it's I am ago a me so here's the disciples struggling and they see Jesus and they're terrified it's a ghost it's a ghost and what does Jesus say I am don't be afraid I am don't be afraid I love it he doesn't just let him struggle he sees him and says do you know what I'm gonna go help my people because I love the people which I think is the promise of Jesus we get from this right okay he wants us to be obedience it wants us to be obedient but our obedience to Jesus will lead us to some tough situations but here's the deal he doesn't just leave us to struggle through our tough situations by herself now sometimes he might let you row for nine hours and figure it out on your own just to see how that's working out to teach you a little lesson and then he'll come to you walking on the water and they'll say guess what it's me don't be afraid that's the way he works that you'll send something to us which is very difficult to deal with and then he uses that same difficulty to reveal to us who he is and how good he is that's what he does here he sends him out into the storm and then Jesus walks across the storm and says I'm better than a storm don't be afraid it's me it's Jesus then they were glad to take him into the boat and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going seems like an understatement they were glad to take Jesus into the boat and Anna says amen immediately means like BAM like right now and right now the boat was just suddenly where they were going so Jesus walked on the water and calmed the stormy seas and stuff like that and then he just snaps his fingers and they transport the rest of its its craziness and stuff that Jesus does the other accounts say that at this point the wind stopped and the Seas stopped and then there were just suddenly at the place to which Jesus sent them and that's the end of the story it's never mentioned again in the New Testament the only people there are the disciples and you leave wondering like why that's the question I found myself asking this week over and over and over and over again why like an obnoxious two-year-old why why because I couldn't figure it out why did Jesus send them on to the lake if they were just gonna run into a storm and he was going to deliver him anyways what's the point why did Jesus decide to walk out on to the water couldn't he he was sitting up on his hilltop couldn't even just done like and then everything would have ceased that's we did in mark chapter four we stood and said be still and then everything was still why didn't he just do that why did he let him go at it for nine hours why did he send him in the middle of the night why didn't he just go with them like all questions I can't answer it's all conjecture we try to figure it out and say well it could be this it could be this and maybe he didn't we don't know but we do know that from reading this text that Jesus is superior okay the only thing Jesus says here is it's me don't be afraid that's the one thing that here's one line and this text is me don't be afraid but what did we learn I think two big things I want to show you that we learn about who Jesus is you'll notice the sermon titles Jesus is superior or Jesus's supreme I want to show you firstly I'll be supreme over all creation he is supreme over all creation okay in this text alone six miracles six miracles having to do with creation stuff let me show you he walks on the water miracle one if we're looking at Matthew 14 he lets Peter walk on the water that's the miracle to Peter Jesus picks him up sets him back up on his feet on top of the water that's miracle 3 and then Jesus says hey wind stopped and the wind stops that's miracle 4 and then he says waves stop waving and the waves stopped waving and then he goes BAM and they teleport to the other side of the lake miracle 6 can you imagine being a disciple watching all of this go on it's just miracle after miracle after miracle after miracle after miracle of Jesus saying look I'm better than creation the waves scared you I get it but guess what don't have fear because I controlled the waves in Colossians 1:15 through 17 Paul writes to the church in class I says this he is the image that's Jesus he is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of all creation for by him that's Jesus all things were created in heaven and on earth visible and invisible whether Thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him that's Jesus and created for him again that's Jesus and he that's Jesus as before all things and in him that is Jesus all things hold together here's what Jesus has to do with creation it says all things were created by him everything created by Jesus and then it says all things were created for him and then it says the only reason anything is the way that it still is is because it's being upheld through him he is supreme over all creation hebrews 1:1 through 4 says this long ago at many times and in many ways God spoke to our fathers by the prophets but in his last days he has spoken to us by a son whom he appointed the heir of all things that's everything not just some things he's the heir of all things that means it's all his through whom he also created the world he is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature and he upholds the universe by the word his power after making purification for sins he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than their as the name is in Christ Messiah he is superior over everything created this as he upholds the universe by the word of his power why were the disciples able to row on their own to begin with because they weren't rolling on their own why are you here in this room breathing this morning and why is your heart beating this morning because your heart and your lungs and your breath and everything is being upheld by what the word of Jesus he is supreme over all creation the second thing he's supreme of he is supreme over all circumstances all throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament we read do not fear or or have no fear be strong be courageous and it's not just like Jesus commands us people to quit being babies doesn't just say quit being a baby just because I said so he says have no fear and then he always follows that up with have no fear why because I'm with you not just be a stone-cold type of guy who doesn't fear anything with no emotions you just don't fear things why because Jesus is a going through life with you Isaiah 41 8 through 10 I'm just gonna go straight to verse 10 it says fear not for I am with you fear not for I am with you be not dismayed for I am your God which is a pretty big statement the same God who created everything he is your God he cares about you so much so it says I will strengthen you I will help you I will uphold you with my righteous hand why should we not have fear through situations God sends us through because he doesn't send us through it alone he's with us have no fear for I am with you Joshua 1 verse 9 says have I not commanded you be strong and courageous do not be frightened do not be dismayed the Lord your God is with you wherever you go whatever situation you walk through whatever stage of life you're going through whatever it is dropping the kid off at preschool guess what you're not dropping off your kid at pre school alone there with you God's with you he is with you all the time deuteronomy 31:6 I'm speaking of Joshua again he says be strong and courageous do not fear or be in dread of them for it is the Lord your God who goes with you and I love this he will not leave you or forsake you he will not leave you or forsake you okay even in the story of the disciples going out onto the boat yeah Jesus sends him out but guess what it says he's just watching them it's like he stands there and he sees the whole thing they're not going it alone because Jesus is watching this whole thing it's not as if he's praying and then looked down and realizes oh no they're stuck like it's not like he knows everything that's going on and he sees his people in this text and has compassion on them and chooses to help him Matthew 28:18 through twenty one of the last things Jesus said it's the Great Commission and that's given to the church and Jesus came and said to them all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me I don't know about you but I think a lot of people these days are afraid of Authority with political stuff and trying to figure out what in the world is going on what kind of world are my kids gonna have to grow up in and it terrifies me we have an idiot an idiot okay hold on hold on so I'm not not picking sides not making endorsements I'm saying everyone's a sinner so typically typically we're all idiots - right so this is the way that it works out so everyone's idiot but in this case this is what's happening we got this guy or this lady and it's like fear I don't know what's going to happen but here's what I love if you go back through our Daniel study who's actually in control God right who's the one who sets up kings and takes down Kings God all authority on in heaven and on earth has been given - who - Jesus okay Supreme Court can think it's supreme but guess what I serve a supreme king who was actually supreme okay quit freaking out he's with us the rest of Matthew 28 verse 19 he says go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you and then he says this and behold I'm with you always to the end of the age the Supreme God who is over all creation in all circumstances walks with us through our difficulties whatever difficult that you find in your life this morning maybe you and your wife have been trying to get pregnant it's a long long road and you're not sure why God is sending you through this fear none God is with you maybe you're going through a job transition and there's all the fear of we're gonna have to move my family and they run out to go find a new church and thereafter make new friends and there's all the fear and the anxiety that comes from that whole process of what if I don't like my job am I gonna move my family across country and then whether they're just fear and there's fear and there's fear and there's fear here's what this says fear not why because God is with you I heard several reminders this week of this whole thing I was chatting with Brian this week and they were at the hospital on Monday and Tuesday and do in that whole thing and they're thinking like where is God or not with this right because dad has a stroke and it's not looking good you start thinking God where are you are you here are you a part of this whole thing and then they go sit in a waiting room a different waiting room they've been sitting on and they're on a little piece of paper are the words to that cornerstone song Christ alone cornerstone weak made strong in the saviours love he's with you right have no fear whatever situation why because God is with you got us walking you through whatever trial you find yourself in so friends if you believe in Jesus Christ this morning and I don't mean you believe he exists I mean you trust in the person of Jesus and you recognize that you are a wretch that you are a sinner that apart from him you are fully deserving of going to hell forever and you recognize that Jesus is the only way that John 14:6 he's the way he's the truth he's the life that no one gifts to the Father except through him if you believe that this morning that here is the good good news fear not God is with you fear not God is with you now if that's not you this morning if you don't believe in Jesus I want to discourage you for a minute you have every reason to be afraid okay and we serve a god of Wrath and unless you believe in Jesus God will not remove his wrath from you you want to walk with Jesus you want to walk you want to have not to not have fear and and you want God to be with you it's got to go through Jesus and that's it I want to read Psalm 23 over you guys and they were going to close in worship so if you would just stand with me I want to read Psalm 23 I think it goes well with this study and understanding that God's with us that yes our obedience will lead us to some situations which aren't fun and but God's with us that he uses that situation for his glory and for our good could you just do this with me I love I love doing this in worship because for me it's the active like I surrender to you and someone wants something they don't like this because they want to do this because then it's like they drop everything like I don't care which one you do okay that's fine you can do both you can go crazy Pentecostal do whatever you want I don't care we're gonna do this okay because it's our act of saying like god I I'm yours okay I surrender it I give it up I recognize whatever situation I'm finding myself in right now that I should not fear why because you are with me friends that's the good news for you this morning the God who created everything Jesus the supremacy of Christ the one who rules over everything the one who has all authority in heaven and all authority on earth that God that king that Jesus he came for you whatever trial you're finding yourself in now look around because he's with you he's coming to you maybe you're not maybe you're not prepared for it maybe you're afraid of what's going on whatever it is fear not because Jesus is with you Psalm 23 says this the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want he makes me lie down in green pastures he leads me beside still waters he restores my soul he leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me your rod and your staff they comfort me you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies you anoint my head with oil and my cup overflows surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever amen Lord Jesus we are so grateful for who you are that you are supreme over all of creation that you are supreme over all circumstance and that you give us the promise of fear not for I am with you god comfort those who are hurting this morning God would you speak a word of encouragement to them either I'm through your word or through a friend or would you touch them this morning and let them know you're here that you're walking with them oh that we would see you amidst our trials and our circumstances and know that there is nothing above you Jesus we love you would we respond properly in a worship right now and exclaiming who you are and singing your praises because you are amazing Jesus you are good thank you for being with us this morning thank you for walking with us through our trials we love you and all God's people said amen
