Seiko Spring Drive Assembly Demonstration at Little Treasury Jewelers

um good very dark just um great wow now is this from the back yes okay do you think okay is um does he personally go through this process in his daily job this kind of assembly or is he yes now he's like a teacher so he doesn't usually you know assemble the watches but he trained regular graphics is that the vertical clutch that you just put on yes and this is a magnetic wheel that you know advertisement okay this is a key of the spring drive controlled by magnetic bridge so eight times per second what is that what is that part called magnetic wheel so this we you know generates electricity as well as you know controlled by magnetic blades ken steve had a question when we were here two weeks ago and that was the glide wheel goes around eight times per second is there any is there any reason considering we have eight beat watches ten beat watches was there eight a magical yeah i have an exact same question i asked he didn't know him okay because of the 72 hours power reserve it may controlled by eight times per second so there's no relation with hb yeah okay then i have another nasty question so if you can make the second hand with this mechanical electronic movement be perfectly smooth i imagine you could do that with a quartz watch as well is that right quote in case yeah the in case of a gold sold it cannot do that sweeps second is only for the spring you can do it with the tuning fork omega and um [Music] [Music] yeah mechanically it's possible but you know in order to keep battery life long now yes only the one time per second the you know cpus and the signal signal yeah once uh second one time a second yeah it's mechanically or you know technologically it's possible they could do it but you know battery consumption you're going to watch every six months to put a new battery yeah yeah that is physics or you could be like the apple watch and recharge everything every day actually this module is uh like a two layer first floor is a timepiece park and the second floor is a chronograph part so he now finishes the you know watch part and he put like a ceiling on the first okay so he's already put the gear train and so now he's checking to make sure that all of the old first half and move rotate freely and it looks like the is that the top of the vertical clutch right here i guess so where is it there's a minute counter and an hour counter the auxiliary dials where do they take power from can you take [Music] foreign [Music] the our hand kept moving after it was stopped on a spring rack and a spring drive it was in an on turn i sent it back and it was repaired but i was just wondering you know so apparently the with joe on this yes yes saw that watch i know i remember this watch because he it was right around jck time i think actually because there was another person from fairfax who had a watch and this was actually is there some magnetic or something in the washington area that's causing this oh yeah because this was even before i think gs came about in the u.s [Music] okay so source is different power comes from the spring box but other minutes and seconds from the inside so for the chronograph it's a set it's not part of the the our hand is not part of the come from this this this gear the main spring main spring okay and this is other hand gum come from it's the elapsed hours it goes it's the one that you have the hours on the top oh look at this and then you have oh i have an awful lot of them and then you have yes and and we have a minion and the minute you yeah you had the minute the hour and the seconds but with the when the chronograph is operating you have your elapsed seconds and each time it goes around it bumps the hour the hour register and then there's a second register that shows because the hour register only goes up to 30. and then there's a a sub-dial on the bottom that will elapse to the middle mark and that that moves smoothly but i had noticed sometimes the even if the if the timer were stopped but not reset sometimes or the elapsed hours counter would still move today he said that's not real oh yeah right so fast i was just curious yeah how it could how parts could misalign just so slightly m [Music] yeah usually this gear stops our hand okay even though sauce is different but yeah most probably this gear goes up my other none of the other chronograph the other chronograph doesn't do that i checked that out [Music] is no no no it doesn't do it now i sent it to uh seiko and they repaired it it was all under warranty so i was just i was really curious though as to how because i kept thinking that everything would come off how wrong did you use that i right it's all repaired and then i yes it was repaired and seiko prepared so you've already sent the product i've already sent the product this was like maybe a year and a half two years ago it's terrible after it's japan vacation and it was fine when it came back are you actually setting up domestic repair facilities in the u.s may be difficult to maintain okay because i have did you because i had a uh i do have an old grand seca uh 1968 runs perfectly and it's it's a high beat and i probably should get it lubricated in japan it should be lubricated somewhere i'm happy to send it to japan if that's the only place it can be it can be lubricated [Music] yeah 68-69 i'm sure on your camera you have a picture of it no because i had it i wore it last year to the event [Laughter] yeah joe was telling me that you've you have the luxe time division yeah okay yeah any time please call i visited your boutique in new york city any ideas where you have ideas no you don't decide it but it might be uh okay yeah oh yeah that's exciting because when i first bought when i bought the first spring drive as i said i was only able to go up to ford's new jersey so are you going to be at the watch show on this fro in new york oh i'm going friday night and then there's the there's a whole saturday and i get i gather that's just that's sort of you know come and go okay well then i'll see you again that's amazing i'll bring the other watch because i've really forgotten i think it's like
