Police in the East Bay searching for an armed suspect accused of killing a woman in her home tonight. Neighbors are shaken by the violence. >> It's shocking and saddening. You just never think it's going to be in your neighborhood. >> Community members are calling this a tragedy. Good evening. I'm Christien Kafton and I'm Janet Katsuyama. >> Pinole police say the victim managed to call 911 before she died and identify her attacker. Tonight, we've learned the victim and the suspect share a child together. Who was in the building at the time of the shooting. New at ten. Joey Horta joins us live now in Pinole with the latest development. Joey >> Well, investigators are calling this guys a tragic case of domestic violence. The suspect is caught on camera fleeing from the scene after police say that he broke into the woman's home and shot her on a close knit cul de sac in Pinole. Tragedy has struck. >> It's incredibly startling and unnerving, so, um, everyone here is really, really shaken up. >> Pinole police say a woman was shot and killed Friday in her basement apartment in this home on Summit Drive. >> It just sad that this happened in our neighborhood. And you never think it's going to happen in your neighborhood. And it does. >> Police say 36 year old Jeremy Kendall broke in through a window and attacked the woman. When officers arrived around 845 Friday morning and found her with at least one gunshot wound already dead. Her toddler son was home at the time from a child. She shares with Kendall. >> This is a tragic case of domestic violence and investigators say Kendall is caught on a neighbor's ring camera running down the street after the shooting, leaving neighbors on edge. >> I was getting a barrage of text messages, was telling me what was going on. >> And, you know, of course, having a child at home and not being close to home, it was frightening. >> Police say Kendall is not currently living in the home, but had in the past. >> They've always been to themselves, quiet. Um, you know, I would see them out with their child, always playing with them in the court. >> Kendall was spotted driving away in this 2013 Gray Hyundai Elantra. >> Help us track him down and we want to take him into custody safely. While Kendall is wanted for homicide tonight, anyone who sees him should call police. >> He is considered armed and dangerous.
