Sea Shepherd unveils $12 million boat

the ocean Warrior is the only ship we've ever had built new for us to our specifications and it still got that new boat smell one of the things if you start looking for use ships that's very difficult to find is high speed ships that have long range capability it's just not a niche that anyone caters to most high speed ships are either short range patrol boats or X Navy ships things like that so it's very difficult to find a ship that's both fast and can go long distances you pretty much have to build for that you know from this start and so that's what we've done here is we built a very fast ship that can also go very long distances it's a huge advantage because for a change we'll have the ship that's faster than the harpoon ships faster than the mother ship we've never had that before and it's just like instead of being the the one that's picked on and bullied you're the one doing that picking on and bullying you really have a huge advantage when you have a faster ship it's not super luxurious ship the accommodations are small they're all just in the forward area as you can see they're not not a whole lot of luxury accommodations onboard so it's it's not really built via comfort not like a yacht or something like that it's definitely a working boat and so it's it's a it's just fast and goes far and that's that's what we wanted you know the water cannon onboard is one of the largest firefighting cannons you can get it puts out an incredible amount of water and it takes about 3,000 horsepower to drive that one water cannon so you can imagine the amount of water that comes out of it and it's it's very useful for pirate defense and also useful for dissuading people from doing things so that's what we hope to use it for is to protect the whales we're gonna go down to the Southern Ocean and patrol the whale sanctuary the Australian whale sanctuary down in south of 60 degrees and so we'll just try and prevent any whaling from going on down there this year
