scammers Exposed on Pawn Stars I've got a Hudson Bay gor what the hell a for I want to try to get 100,000 out of it I'll have to see what he offers what do you know about this thing my dad actually got it he picked it up in an auction these go way back in time I mean even the Romans had them I know the Hudson Bay Company was one of the oldest companies in North America me pioner in this shop maybe I were to wear something like the following customer enters the pawn shop with what he claims as a Hudson Bay gorget and was looking to get a crazy amount of money Rick knew exactly what was going on and he had some bad news I don't think that would fit around your head it looks like it made Might Have Been a trade piece to the Indians the glass beads is completely normal they had to trade the Indians something for this and how much you want for it probably about 100,000 I don't see that happening I think it's worth a lot less like 999,000 less this yellow gray patina this on right around 20% zinc zinc wasn't isolated really Rick definitely thought this item was cool but the customer was looking to get over six figures and Rick had to tell him that it wasn't worth anywhere near that amount when the customer heard this he started to get rude what the are you talking about you're way out of line not bull yet um I'd offer you 1,000 bucks and take my stuff and leave thinks I'm some punk kid and want him to lowball me the customer started swearing but Rick remained calm and respectfully told the customer to leave hire scam this is a tire from Dale Herz car I hope he never worked for his pit crew sorry about that okay I'm hoping to get 1,500 for that tire after nhart won his Daytona 500 1998 I sent it off to him probably the best NASCAR racer to ever live died blocking so his kid could win a race seven Winston Cup championships and the Daytona 500 the following customer is at the pawn shop looking to get money for what he claims is a Dale nhart signed Tire Cory knew that Dale nhart was a big name and an item like this would be worth serious money you got to be pretty badass to earn a nickname The Intimidator it had all the right markings on it what's the lr8 mean it came with this anybody can make them I checked with Good Year about the tire that this is from 1997 did you get any paperwork on the signature no how much you looking to get out of it 1500 the customer claims that the tire had all the right markings on it and even had a certificate of authenticity to back it up Rick was naturally a bit skeptical since anyone could just print out of a piece of paper like this uh not out of the realm of possibility Dale ear andard signature and sports M Vila there are a lot of fakes so let me call my buddy up he'll check out the signature I'll be right back okay whenever the guys have a problem with signatures they always give me a call to play it safe they had over 400 top 10 finishes a lot of safety features that now they force the drivers to do the customer was looking to get a substantial amount of money but when it comes to items like these there are many fakes and counterfeits Rick swiftly calls in an expert to check out this tire and see if it's real Del's got seven overall championships all right let's take a look gold Bel tip pen capital D and his L are usually similar in shape the Bottom's flat swings up if you put everything together somebody signed this but it wasn't dard oh in this particular case you can see how he could rest his wrist so it would be very similar while the tire does seem promising at first glance the expert reveals that it wasn't the real Dale nhart who signed this tire which made the customer extremely disappointed the expert points out all of its flaws I don't think it would affect it much at all capital E this should be coming down much further and then hooking up so you know you've got like three major problems right there alone I'm here to tell the truth and that's what I do I'm really disappointed that it wasn't the authentic signature from Dale arnhart the signature just didn't add up and there was not enough information to say that it's a real signature the customer was very disappointed stamp scam I'm here to 1860 engraving plate that made the stamp I have never seen anything like this try to sell my press plate where in the world did you get this I got it in a collection of old stamps like you where did you get that that is amazing it basically works the same way as a printing plate does $15,000 the following customer enters the pawn shop with what he claims is a US engraving plate that made stamps of George Washington Rick was beyond impressed and the customer had extremely high expectations this could be photo engraving but I don't know enough and they blast the light down on it react with a chemical which etches the metal I mean this thing could be Priceless and it's sitting in my shot I can get a guy down here and this guy knows everything there is to know about stamps and the closest thing to money you know is stamps I don't want anything coming back at me later we'll go from there okay great Rick was amazed but he wasn't an expert on stamps and is aware of all the techniques people use in order to make fake stamps Rick was extremely skeptical since owning a stamp like this could be illegal so he called an expert it will be good to know finally what it's all about what do you got from me I've been collecting stamps since 1954 these eyes were in the possession of the US government should not be in anybody's hands but theirs very interesting well would you like to see the stamp and they printed it in different colors what would it be wor 20 $330,000 easy wow the expert was just as Amazed by this stamp and has Decades of experience collecting and learning about stamps the expert confirms that a stamp like this is extremely valuable and he reveals whether it's real or not it has a copper top no it's not the real deal but it's normally the size of the stamp it seems to be basically a photo image Worth to someone if they want to take and just stamp this stamp I knew right away that something was wrong I can take it home and give it to my daughter who will put it all over her walls the customer reveals that the stamp was not the real deal and was a photo image that was used as a rubber stamp the stamp also had some copper in it which instantly set off a red flag in the expert's head book scam it's a first edition Ernest Hemingway and a framed autograph I'm coming down to the pawn shop today to sell my Ernest Hemingway autograph I'm hoping to get somewhere between $5 and $7,000 I paid $2,400 for it 12 years ago he was a boxer he was a hunter Hemingway influenced generations of writers and shortly thereafter blew his brains out and catch your Idaho the following customer brings in what he claims as a first edition book by the one and only Ernest Hemingway and even an autograph from the legend himself the customer got this book at an online auction years ago I guess money can't always buy happiness true the plot revolves around the character Robert Jordan that's the end of the book and the end of Robert Jordan but the hero always died people don't just love his writing they love the man right here at the bottom of the page you see the a that makes it a first edition this book and signature make a really nice collection and I have no idea who this person is who authenticated it I just want to make sure it's real I'm this was a classic by Ernest heiming way who was not only famous for his compelling Tales but also his personality Rick knew that if he could prove these items were legit he would be making some big money and profits I welcome the expert forensic document examiner examined documents determine if they're authentic he was a war correspondent in the savannah Civil War World War II also all right let's take a close look see what we have very detailed it's got a lot of different structures a little bit different than I've seen before the Baseline seems to be off unfortunately this is a forgery wow the expert promptly comes in to take a look at the book and emphasize all of the crazy things Ernest heiming way has done in his lifetime when the expert takes a look at the signature he notices something very off actually heavyweight signature is not very forged most forgers try to do easier signatures I always do a few mistakes when I do my signature um how much did you pay for this 2400 you're the best take care sorry obviously it's fake but I do do want the book I'm thinking maybe four I'll go 500 bucks I think that's a fair price I was still able to sell my book for $500 and that's very I'm very happy about unfortunately for the customer the signature was not real and he was rightfully disappointed Rick was still interested in the book and the two started to negotiate a price for it eventually they settled on 500 bucks for the book hat scam I have a John Wayne hat are you a fan of John Wayne yeah John Wayne my favorite one is when he played a cowboy and he rode around on a horse started 100 western movies I decided to come to the pawn shop today to sell my John Wayne movie hat looking to get probably about $1,200 or so for the only thing that I have is it's right inside here the following customer brings in what he claims is a John Wayne hat that he got from a hat shop in Arizona the customer did not have any official documentation to prove its legitimacy which was already troubling starting back in the 1920s this is definitely the style hat its manner out of Chicago they made H for many many years it could be worth some money I do believe that the hat is real had to give you an appraisal when you bought it right I am looking forward to the expert coming in to look at the Hat my name is Mark and I have a company here in Las Vegas the old man respectfully told the customer that he wasn't too convinced this hat was real since the customer had no paperwork the customers still believed that this hat was real so that's when they got an expert this is supposedly a hat that's warning the movies purchased this hat from a shop in Prescot Arizona Rio Grand was made 1950 in black and white when you get to Rio Lobo he wore three different hats tassels and we're in a dark color it's listed in here as seven and an e tag from the Wardrobe Department you could write a dozen of these up you got to have some facts behind it the expert is an expert in props and takes some time to inspect the Hat the expert knew everything about this hat and explained the timeline to the customer the expert found multiple red flags in the Hat the conversation I had with the gentleman back then other than that it's just a used hat very interesting piece I'm 90% certain this ain't Duke's hat thank you very much thank you perhaps Duke didn't like himself the customer had no type of official proof and went based on one conversation he had with the person who sold him the Hat good day folks and welcome back to the channel how much how much you record that's a number I have no idea I just don't I mean I've never I've never tried to research a piece of the Titanic that is going to cost you 1.2 million yeah if you can make anything over 1.2 million that's that's my offer of did two days ago 1.2 million if you can beat that it's yours mate today we will show you the moments when customers try to outsmart Rick on Pawn Stars have you tested the diamond oh yeah it's a real diamond it's a real diamond okay what I wanted to do just for my own sanity to test the diamond sure go right ahead [Music] okay this is not a testing Sir Isaac Newton book A book that belonged to Isaac Newton was brought into the pawn shop it was printed in 1546 and found wrapped in a box Bob the owner hoped to sell it knowing its historical significance Richard admired and explained that the story of an apple falling on Newton's head though widely believed wasn't actually true what do we got here this is a book that belonged to Isaac Newton it was printed in 1546 sweet and that's pretty cool everyone has heard the story about the Apple falling on Newton's head and that's the way he figured out gravity that never happened all he saw was an apple fall off the tree somehow the story got changed over the years so what's the book about uh it's about geology and Mining that Newton was very much into you want to punt it sell it I would like to sell it do you have any idea what it would be worth I have a clue I can assume that it's real but I'm not that knowledgeable on books I'm going to call an next spt in and we'll go from there for if this book is real it's worth a lot of money that'll work all right thank you very much thank you the book written in Latin focused on geology and Mining its authenticity was confirmed by a book expert indicating it was from Newton's Library despite some damage it was valued at $20,000 well what would you like to know about this book I need authentication and did it belong to Newton now there's a little bit of bad news this is not the original binding uh this book was restored it was rebacked this was repaired probably done in the 1700s the book plate is from Newton's Library this number here j9 ds7 is Newton's shelf number where he would have stored the book so this book was owned by Isaac Newton great that's good news that's all great but what kind of value do we have on this site well I think this book would retail it it has a value of $20,000 wow wow yes very nice find your father had very good taste yes he did well thank you y for coming in negotiations led to a sale for $7,000 Bob initially hoped for a higher price but ultimately accepted the deal so what are you trying to get out of it son about 15 ain't no way if you could live with 5,000 that's what I'll pay that's that's too low I can't take less than seven you know if I give you seven for it I won't have money for dinner tonight if you give me seven for I'll buy you dinner sounds like a plan thank come on over I'll get somebody to write it up super rare cult revolver Paul approached Rick with a Colt revolver for sale Rick carefully inspected it acknowledging its historical significance and rare attributes Paul aimed for a $25,000 sale but Rick insisted on verifying its authenticity hey how can I you I'd like to try and sell this Colt revolver this is cool do you know much about it I know it's an old piece I want to say 1800s this is a very early cold Single Action Army this was uh this is 1870s and everyone wanted them and they also had the world's greatest advertising campaign God made all men and Colt made them all equal so where did you get this thing I'm a bail bondsman and somebody put it up for collateral and they never paid off the bond so they surrendered it this is an appraisal on it I took it in for25 $5,000 that's what they owe that's what I'd like to get do you mind if I have someone take a look at this thing I mean I just have a lot of questions on the gun I mean it's really weird that you have two serial numbers on the gun but if everything checks out maybe we can make a deal great Alex confirmed its worth at $35,000 or even more in auction possibly reaching $50,000 it's a Single Action Army 7 and 1/2 in Barrel which was the standard Cavalry length The Single Action Army changed everything I mean this is the gun that won the West also known as The Peacemaker the Colt 45 I mean this started it all cool this style grip is extremely rare it you see it more on older pistols percussion pistols but on a Single Action Army this grip is these are hen's teeth all right but there's some really weirdness with the serial numbers most cult collectors go I want all matching serial numbers uh but I think it's a pretty fair assessment to say look these were hand stamped they were making them thousands and shipping them out and that could just be a simple mistake it could drive the value down a bit but there's so much right about this beautiful gun that you know for me I would still want it so what is this piece of magic worth at auction I would safely guess that this would sell for 35,000 if it went above 50 it wouldn't really surprise me however there was a twist Paul attempted to negotiate asserting that it could potentially fetch even higher and insisted on $35,000 after some back and forth they agreed on $27,500 ABY what's your best price you give me $40,000 I walk out the door no you're if at 40,000 you're walking out the door with a gun even though you can sell this for 55 60,000 here no no no he says maybe 35 I go 26 27,500 guns yours we got a deal great I'll meet you right over there despite Paul's cunning attempt to outsmart Rick he ultimately settled for less than his initial demand Hotchkiss cannon in this episode Rick agreed with Chuck agreeing to purchase a 19th century Hotchkiss Cannon for $30,000 on the condition that it remained functional the cannon was used in the Indian Wars a cannon what can you tell me about this thing it's an 1890s hotkiss Cannon they say it was used in the Indian Wars it just sits in my front room I have it fac in the front door for anybody who wants to come in I love it rick contacted an expert who examined the cannon identifying authenticity markers such as patina and rust he estimated its value at $40,000 hey Rick how's it going hey Rick yeah what do you got here um a cannon ah very nice 1890 as indicated here okay did they make any reproductions of these things no ATF won't allow it okay this is the first modern self-contained cartridge firing gun in American inventory because the patina little rust here and there that's all indications that this is the real deal okay so how much something like this go for I mean what can I pay for it still make a few bucks a good shootable gun like this I would say $40,000 all day long Chuck hoped for $30,000 and Rick agreed pending a successful test fire that's good for me I pied about 30 uh well yeah well we haven't seen it it fires yet and um I'd like to go take it out and fire it all right okay let's go see if it shoots it shoots I'll give you the 30 grand deal okay they went to a shooting range finally the Moment of Truth arrived the cannon fired flawlessly sealing the deal despite the excitement Rick couldn't help but wonder if he'd made the right choice boy want to make sure you have a clean bore for maximum accuracy here that way you get a consistent shot pattern so do you mind if I shoot it uh no I prefer not to for safety reasons I'm pretty safe oh sorry all right this is the moment of truth if it fires it's 30 grand we're going to get it dialed in so we can kill your plant down range there yeah y that did it that's 30,000 now it's going to go up every time he shoots it Cannon fired it deals a deal and I own a cannon I hope I did a good thing I don't know football from first Hall of Fame game a seller named Rick presented a rare item to Corey a football from the 1962 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game signed by ya title Rick shared the story of catching the ball during the game and having it signed by title I got the game ball from the first Pro Football Hall of Fame game played in catton Ohio it starts off the season every year this is the program from the 1962 Hall of Fame okay and this is my ticket St to get in the game which was only $5 at the time I think the last football game I went to it was double that for a beer so where in the world did you get this I caught the ball myself I was 12 years old in 1962 and Y8 shle thre a pass to one of his receivers and the ball came off the tips of his hands hit once came up into the stands I jumped on it and I come up with the ball out of there that's awesome man that's a that's a really good story so how didd you get him to sign it he came to the hall of fame for an autographed session and I brought the ball and had him sign it because it came off his fingertips definitely a cool story what do you got here in '99 when he signed the ball this was uh our local newspaper article my last name's Lombardi l B's Big Catch has signature with it okay yes sir what's this this is a letter authenticity from the Hall of Fame that shows this is the ball from that night game oh wow okay do you have anything verifying the signature or I was there when he done it okay uh he signed it in front of me but uh okay that's all I really got but I mean that's his signature Rick initially requested $14,000 but aimed to settle for a minimum of1 2,500 Cory examined the ball and sought Val validation from Steve who confirmed its authenticity but valued it at1 2000 due to uncertain origin I know the Hall of Fame would like to have this ball I brought it in there and they'd ask me to donate it to them but yeah I wouldn't want to donate it either yeah but I'm looking to sell it any idea any number in your head well I would like $4,000 let me have a buddy of M come validate the signature sure he can give me an idea of what it might be worth guy's one of the best in the world at it so so we got apparently game us used from the first Hall of Fame Game signed by ya tile cool great piece of football history man ya title was a great quarterback in the 50s early 60s me guy threw seven touchdowns in one game there's only a few guys that have ever done that in NFL history the one thing I do want to do is look at a few examples of his signature sure he kept things really simple his te went under and then back over usually included his number just depending where he could put it everything matches up pretty well so no question the signature is real no what do you think it's worth can you say for certain 100% that it came from that game well your story is great this stuff helps it's still a leap of faith and I'd still put that value right about $2,000 Corey offered $11,000 but Rick declined choosing to donate it to the hall of fame even with the $1,000 offer Rick chose to prioritize preserving the sentimental value of the game's history the least I'll take is probably 3,000 okay you've got a really really cool piece of a memory of you and your father at the first Hall of Fame game back in 1962 I think what I'd offer you on this would be a little offensive it's a $1,000 deal to me oh I couldn't do that I need solid concrete proof of you catching the ball at the game I don't see us making a deal here I think honestly Football Hall of Fame is where it should go you agree I agree all right thanks you're coming in okay take care I thought $1,000 was a little bit low I'll just give it to the hall of fame Friday the 13th Jason mask the limited edition Friday the 13th Jason mask featured nine autographed signatures from famous actors who played Jason in the movies signatures included Kane Hodder Ted white Richard Brooker and Steve Dash making it highly desired among horror fans I got something you might be interested I heard it's probably the most famous hockey Master is you got a limited edition Jason mask from the Friday the 13th series signed by several actors that play Jason oh wow the Friday the 13th series it's definitely cool I think the weirdest one is where he got killed with nuclear waste he getting pumped through the tunnels of New York City this is pretty cool man Friday the 13th is probably one of the most successful horror movie franchises to ever exist I mean I can't look at a hockey mask without think of Jason bores the Friday the 13th series so what can you tell me about the signatures after we got the mask we went around to a lot of conventions and we had as many jasons as we could get signed the front so you guys have been going around getting this signed for years for 16 years Douglas priced it at $6,500 but it's worth increased with expert authentication so how much are you looking to get out of it 6,500 okay um if you don't mind I'd like to bring in a buddy of mine who knows all things autographs and pretty much all things movies so do you mind oh I'd like to see him take a look at it also so I got a weird one for you it's a signed Jason Vorhees mask and there's a lot of signatures so many people played Jason I think it was like eight nine guys at least it was mostly stunt guys and they become kind of like cult heroes in a in the collecting Community because these guys have been doing conventions and shows and they have conventions based just around these guys so Kane hotter is the first guy I see right up top here he includes Jason literally about the same thing I've got here the next guy is Ted white and Ted is down here and Ted's a pretty old guy now so Ted has a pretty nice signature as you could see here literally the same thing Richard Brooker uh who's passed away Steve Dash who's no longer with us those are important signatures to have so you've got a nice grouping adjacent you could still get many more that you could add to this yeah they're still signing they're still out there huh they are yeah all right so what do you think it's worth well the value of the signatures is kind of where it lies and you know you have the two deceased people on there too and room to add you know I'd say this is worth at least $2,000 when Cory offered dollar 1,500 Douglas refused causing the deal to fall through despite the unsuccessful sale The Mask stayed popular among fans and collectors because of its Rarity and genuine signatures its significance in the horror genre continued to be acknowledged keeping it a prized possession so I mean you were kind of shooting for the stars of 6,500 from what I could tell um how does a how does a, bucks sound oh I don't know two of those guys are dead I mean they're gone they can't sign anything more I'd have to have like 45 maybe I'm about 1,500 bucks is going to be the most I can go I don't see us making a deal here all right take care I'm not really that disappointed in make a deal that's money in the bank sitting there there's three people that can't sign anymore we can find the people that can sign the value is just going to go up big Mark pawn shop big Mark attempted to outsmart Rick as he toured his pawn shop in Chester when Rick stumbled upon a piece of the Titanic's Hull big Mark offered it for a hefty 1.2 million pounds but Rick declined instead he turned his attention to Elton John's original boots priced at 1,600 now I've got something here that will blow your socks off okay this is what you've been looking for all your life all right ready ready me I'm ready wow it's absolutely beautiful what is it well you think it's a piece of rusty metal don't you well it is is piece of rusty metal remember that really famous ship that would never sink oh the Titanic that's it that's part of the Titanic's hole so is this where it ran into the iceberg or no the opposite side the good side all right they sent down the The Little Submarine and it broke off a piece or it was a massive operation they sent down several submarines they broke off the big pieces 20 tons and brought it up and then from the big piece they took these samples off so got all the paperwork for it not many people have touched that that's amazing isn't it really that is amazing and it's amazing how much it's worth cuz you just can't get it so is it for sale everything's for sale mate you know that I'll sell anything how much you want for it this this is a gem I've had an offer on this a few days ago if you can beat it you can buy off me how much how much did you reckon that's a number I have no idea I just don't I mean I've never I've never tried to research a piece of the Titanic that is going to cost you £ 1.2 million yeah if you can make anything over 1.2 million that's that's my offer had the two days ago 1.2 million if you can beat that it's yours mate okay so what else do you have I know you're a massive Elton John fan I am an Elton John fan yeah Elton John Boots These are original Elton John boots as worn by him that would suit you sir those are actually pretty cool Elton John is right up there with David Bowie the who the Kings I mean he was a massive major player in the 70s how much you want for him 1700 lb ,700 but I'll give you a discount cuz your friend so we do for, 1600 negotiations ensued with Rick showcasing his pawn broker skills and eventually settling on 1,325 despite their banter Rick and big Mark shared a friendly rivalry each trying to come out on top I'll give you £1,000 for is that the jetl a jet L there I mean what's your best price on them listen we' known each other for a long time £1,400 all right and you know it's a bargain man so it's a deal £1,200 who 1,400 maybe in the middle 1,350 1,300 1,350 £ 1,300 1,325 and that's the last thing you can do it 1325 yeah 1325 in the end Rick managed to buy the boots for a fair price demonstrating his negotiation skills even when big Mark tried to outsmart him Pegasus statue in a memorable moment Raphael brought in a pegasus statue from 1888 by French sculptor Luca aiming to sell it for around $6,000 how you doing oh pretty good how Dr statue I like to sell you know much about it I don't know what to tell you about that this is a statue called Pegasus and this is Perseus persus was the mythological figure that killed Medusa okay and the helmet he's wearing right here made him invisible you got me I I don't know what you're talking about so uh what can you tell me about this thing it was made in 1888 uh by the French scure Emil Picard okay Rick it's a quality piece I don't know the sculpture uh peal was an artist in France he was born in the 1830s died around 1915 he did a lot of mythological stuff and this was his most famous one if this is a genuine peal we're talking thousands of dollars his sculptures are highly collectible but in the art world there's just millions of fakes Rick noticed cracks in the Statue suggesting it was a later recast made after the sculptor's passing another red flag was a made in USA marking indicating it wasn't an original the patina looks right what doesn't look right is there's some pic right here and that crack right there is from when they casted it it didn't happen later if it's an original the casting will all be right well to be honest I don't know how to respond I believe this was recast probably around 4050 years ago long after picall died why would they do that that's just this is what I'm seeing right here you have collection foray you see this yeah it says made in USA below it this was not made 1888 the original was made in 1888 despite Rick's observations Raphael insisted it was genuine and got upset when Rick declined to buy it Raphael left the shop claiming it was Rick's loss and vowing to find another buyer the Pegasus statue with its doubtful authenticity didn't make its way into Rick's collection on that day I don't believe you what you seen and what you can prove is two different story it's not as old as this date says it is I don't care what you say um that's just what I say we might be wrong we don't know we're in the business to make money but when we don't feel comfortable with something we're going to back off we really appreciate you bringing it in but it's not for us that's all I can tell you I'm glad he didn't want to buy this his loss not mine 1975 Golden State Warriors ring in this episode a customer named Rich sought a 1975 Golden State Warriors ring for his fiance despite finding it amusing Rick showed him the ring that was adorned with a real diamond I just got engaged and I heard you had a 75 Golden State Warriors ring and I was thinking that would be perfect for my fiance really yeah uh I do have a gold State Warriors ring from 75 Rocco will you grab me that ring sure that is a brave man that would give his fiance a championship ring she must have really big hands there it is in all of its Glory wow she's going to love this Rich tested the diamond with his own tester but Rick insisted on testing it with his own equipment after testing Rick offered to sell the ring for $1,500 much more than Rich could afford have you tested the diamond oh yeah it's a real diamond it's a real diamond okay what I wanted to do just for my own sanity to test the diamond sure go right ahead okay [Music] this not a testing uh that's cuz you have a really cheap [Music] tester cuz see the problem was you had the diamond tester sitting on it right okay it's not going to test right because the diamond is too hot right now do do you have do you have one of your your own yeah I have I have my own stuff over there yeah I mean if uh I'll go grab it works fine on mine okay I will uh trust that okay but uh no no it's all legit I stand stand behind everything I got okay yeah that's that's fine I guess what it comes down to is is price for 115 it can be yours Rich countered with $5,500 but Rick declined leaving Rich disappointed as he left the store it was a classic example of a customer attempting to outsmart Rick by negotiating for sports memorabilia beyond their budget well that's that's your asking price is there uh you know any wiggle room I go 11 Grand that's that's it that's it okay disappointed but it's you know your it's your property you own it and uh you got to do what's in your best interest so all right no it's a real athenic Picasso it's a lithograph with painting on top of it there's only two of them in existence hoping to get 20,000 for it well this was originally given by Picasso to my grandfather and I discovered it Dad said oh yeah yeah keep it no I don't have any like letter of provenance or anything like that okay this next customer brings in what he claims is an authentic Picasso painting which definitely got the attention of Corey and Chum Lee Corey and Chum Lee would then call in an expert to verify its legitimacy with the range of price on these things I'm going to have to have somebody come in and take a look at it okayo huh this is what you and this is yours there was only two of them made so can you take a look at it for me yeah absolutely I think what this is I think it's a line of cut where they would actually carve in the image on a lolium that would be indicative of the kind of work he would be doing okay I see it I see some of the embellishment the expert was able to reveal that this wasn't just any ordinary painting it was a linut which actually happened to line up with what Picasso was doing during the late 1930s the expert would then reveal what everyone has been asking for is this a real Picasso based on everything I know about Picasso and what I see here I feel that this is an authentic Picasso image that's really good to hear what would you appraise that I think we could be looking at an excess of $100,000 that's news I've had in years all right man appreciate it Cory always a pleasure how much are you looking to get well as close to 20,000 as you can get me to everyone's surprise this was in fact authentic work made by the man himself and the expert even revealed that it could be valued all the way up to $100,000 which for the customer was extremely exciting and Cory was able to work out a good deal Jim daily painting it's a Jim daily painting that's really really cool you know my dad lost like 40 or 50 lbs he'd look a lot like that jump off a bridge Ricky today I'm hoping to get 13,000 where did you get it my dad was a mover guy decides to tip him out with this painting some of his stuff does go for decent money Farm scenes things like that it's well painted this next customer brings in this really cool Jim daily painting from the start Rick was impressed as he knew that Jim Daly was a popular contemporary artist that many people know and the painting was an excellent shape another thing I like about him he's not a pop artist things like this they hold their value a lot better is this a print or a painting it's a painting I you got his thumb print that's what scares me because it's on canvas but they can print what looks like a painting on canvas but last thing I need is to Shell out money on something that's just a print before throwing any amount of money Rick needed to make sure that this painting was the real deal and not just some print Rick took some time to inspect the painting and found some red flags that made him a bit skeptical the customer would then reveal how much they wanted I was thinking 13,000 okay my big concern is that this might be a print let's lay this down real quick let me go find him okay unless you have a trained eye you can't tell the difference between a painting and a print you know the closer I look at it it it looks like it's some sort of fancy printing technique now do you know much about Jim Daly not really okay Jim's a contemporary artist Rick wasn't 100% sure about this painting as he knew how much printing technology advanced in recent years so he called up one of his friends to carefully analyze every detail of the painting to make sure it wasn't a print the expert had this to say about the painting he really concentrated a lot on early images of America pre World War II let me take a closer look at it if I can can we can we lay it down you want the viewer to be able to input their own lives into the scene I've seen printing on canvas before I don't see the brush Strokes like I should I'm going to flip it over well I'm just looking here you can see areas where the paints kind of run off the edge the expert remarks that Jim Dy is a contemporary artist who is famous for his art depicting America pre World War II Rick's concern stemmed from the fact that he couldn't see any brush Strokes he would normally see from a painting but the expert had some insights on this what this is is just some sort of registry so tell me is this a print or is this a painting this is an original I think it's a one of a quite a few areas on the canvas where the paint has wrapped around it's a vintage piece it's a nice example of an established artist all right so so what's it worth probably be looking at about1 to $5,000 really the expert was able to confirm that this was a real painting and not just a print this definitely made Rick relieved but it gets even better when the expert reveals that there is a pretty good market for this painting and appraised it at a whopping $10 to $15,000 how much you realistically want for it realistically I want 13 how does it feel to want um start at 10 no I can't I will give you 6,000 bucks very small portion of the population can afford to spend $8 to $10,000 on a painting okay but it's a one of a kind peace did you do 75 I'll go 6500 6500 6500 deal man cool the customer rightfully asked for $113,000 which sounds pretty reasonable at first but we all knew that Rick wasn't going to go anywhere near that price Rick claims that even though it's a oneof a kind authentic piece it will still sit in the store for years before someone buys it French art how can I help you I actually have this art piece that I wanted you to take a look at it's an art piece that I found on an estate sale hoping that it's uh Eugene dequa he was actually considered the greatest French romantic painter I can relate I'm a very very romantic uh gentle man I'm here today to sell what I think is a Eugene dequa art piece the following customer brings in this really cool Eugene dequa art piece who was considered the greatest French romantic painter of his time Chumley also takes this this opportunity to flirt with the customer which was quite wholesome I like the etching on it and it looked like an ink drawing I only got the piece for $100 $300 would be great Eugene dequa a very famous painter but only for one painting LIberty Leading the People she's got like a battle scene of soldiers around her yeah this is unfamiliar to me this is more of a sketch I guess something catches my eye but at stay sales you're always bound to find something Eugene dequa was a very famous painter but he was mainly famous for one particular artwork he did shortly after the customer purchased the painting at an estate sale she saw the initials ED on the bottom which prompted her to come to the pawn shop how much are you looking to get for this hopefully somewhere around maybe 300 lots of his pieces will go at auction upwards of $100,000 let me get my guy down here to take a look at it all right give me just a few minutes to see if I can find them thanks best case scenario I'm going to Disneyland hello hello Dad hey hey how's it going well I got this painting here so we were thinking it's Eugene dequa the customer was looking to get 300 bucks for this painting which was actually a fairly decent price and Chumley was more than happy to help out this customer the price for these types of painting very significantly so chaml urgently needed to get an expert opinion on this art what can you tell me about dequa dequa was at the time the most famous artist in France he was considered the last of the grand painters this would be one of his sketches when he died he left his estate to his housekeeper it's very very well done I have had dozens of delaquis and that is a dequa the expert reveals that Eugene dequa had a pretty remarkable Legacy and was even the most popular artist in France the artwork definitely had a rich history behind it as it was one of Eugene delaqua sketches the expert would then reveal its insane value what kind of value does this have cuz she's asking for $300 give it to her so there's thousands and thousands of delaqua but they're vastly different quality I'd actually put this one right around $10,000 wow all right I appreciate you coming down thanks a lot man it nice to see you still want the 300 no I'll definitely take that 10 grand 10 grand is going to be way out of my price point in a surprising turn of events the expert reveals that this sketch was worth upwards of $110,000 which definitely got the customer extremely hyped up the customer would rightfully ask for 10 grand but Chum wasn't going to go that high but they soon made a deal I could buy it for 4,000 honestly considering what I paid for it I'll take it this is definitely one of the best pieces of art to be featured on the show Andy Warhol painting we got four original uh Warhols this definitely looks like something he would do he was um into shoes so am I you weren't into like lady shoes are you I came to the pawn shop today to try to sell four uh Andy warhall original paintings so where did you get these my uh father was an art historian and he bought these about 25 years ago Andy Warhol actually started an art Factory this next customer enters the pawn shop with what he claims is four original Andy Warhol paintings which definitely got the attention of Rick and Chumley the customer's father purchased this artwork from Andy warhol's Art Factory back in the day he more oress invented pop art okay when did these get damaged I'm not really sure to be honest with you cuz you see all the water damage on this that does hurt the value what were we looking to do with them and I was asking about 8,000 each it's not that I don't trust you right it's just generally I don't trust anybody let me have someone look at it all right thank you some the highest prices ever paid for Fine Art have been Andy Warhols Rick was definitely Amazed by this artwork as he knew the impact Andy Warhol had on art as a whole and even claimed that he is the inventor of pop art that's when the customer asks for $88,000 for each piece of art he had and Rick needed to get an expert opinion gentlemen usually call me down here to take a look at paintings Andy Warhol really set the Fine Art World on its ear what I'm looking for is to try to determine exactly what original these lines here these are actually part of a print which is not surprising where the actual image was printed and then he would go in and embellish it so do you think he actually did it or someone from his Factory the expert was pretty amazed at this painting but when he started to closely inspect the art he was able to tell that some of it was part of a print the main concern for Rick was whether these paintings were made by Andy warhall himself or made by the factory I think these are authentic by Mr Warhol himself nice these are fairly early pieces and he did a ton of fairies and cherubs so I think he would be the one that would have done the embellishment on him does that make make him valuable it does yes it does how much has the damage affected the value it hasn't you know permeated into the piece itself you know the compositions are still in pretty good shape the expert reveals that these were authentic Andy Warhol paintings which definitely amazed everyone at the store Rick was curious whether the water damage on the paintings would cause its value to significantly decrease and the expert had some more good news probably start at the auction level at around $10,000 really go up yeah I think so the Cherub and the fery these are a bit more unique even in the $115,000 range so it was very cool to see these pieces today I don't think Rick will have any problem selling these the commissions and auctions are as high as 50% what are you thinking 20,000 the expert revealed that these artworks were worth well over $10,000 which got the customer extremely excited but Rick seemed a bit worried as he probably didn't want to spend so much money Rick and the customer would then get into some heated negotiation I'm thinking uh thinking more like 32 how about 25,000 how about 27 you got to deal all right 27,000 all right thank you I am thrilled with $27,000 I mean that is more than I expected the customer was somehow able to get Rick to raise his offer from $220,000 all the way up $27,000 Rick knew that there was a lot on the line and didn't want to lose out by being too harsh or cheap on the customer so they they worked out a deal print or no print what can I help you with I got this picture here uh as far as I'm concerned this is like a scary picture I really like it you're a weird individual for liking this stuff I don't like it if it's any value I'm a retired so I could use the money if I got a couple of grand I'd be happy well I got it from my mother was in the family a lot of years yeah believe it or not you got something really cool here oh really this is an engraving by Al derer this customer walks into the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop to sell what he claims as a pretty useless piece of junk the man seems to think that the print is pretty ugly and is rotting away in his basement which is why he wants to get rid of it he was probably the greatest engraver of the Renaissance so most of his work included demons and satanic creatures he is still influencing Gothic artists do you think that this is an original now while Rick launches into a whole explanation of what the print means and why the artist behind the creation liked this particular visual style the customer only wants to know one thing that is his autograph it appears to be an original pressing from that engraving I don't know the exact year it was done they ink the plate and press it into paper it's like a giant stamp almost so they keep on having to fix it so the first state will look one way if you can get one from the 1500s and its original state it's worth $300,000 by the looks of the item it seems to be an original Cory is Right There by his dad to help explain what this means to the customer he drops the bomb and tells the customer just how much he's going to be making if it is this is not 1500 the paper is not right this is 1700s or 1800s paper but I'm not really sure about the value normally I'd call my buddy Brett he's busy so I'm going to have to take a gamble on the price a couple thousand is it worth that maybe it's worth more I don't know I'll give you five grand for it sadly though after all that buildup Rick lets the man know that this piece is probably not an original judging by the quality of the paper Rick still thinks that he can derive some value out of this thing about 6,000 you know he's saying five but maybe you can get six for it I'm just trying to be honest with them um I'll tell you what I'll give you 5,500 bucks all if it's worth seven how about 6,500 I got rent I got employees I got overhead I got power bills how about 6,000 you get 5,500 I won't go up anymore that's where the customer sees an opening to bargain and then a bidding war ensues with Rick trying to get the best bang for his buck and the customer looking for the exact same the two men go back and forth for a while it seemed like they wouldn't make a deal tough negotiators but I won't know for sure if the gamble is worth it till I have it a prey alre dur I don't get many of those I get all manner of Fine Art coming in here you have any idea what it means yeah a little bit the night death and the devil though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no Eve got death behind him holding an hourglass thankfully the man settles on a price point that's good enough for Rick but the important part comes after the purchase could this be a lucky gamble for Rick or was his hunch about the print not being an original right after all towards the castle represents Heaven it's actually one of his most famous Masterworks see that right there makes me think it's fake an alri dur etching that was a first impression that piece is sold at auction for an excess of $350,000 well we'll take a look the lines are crisp but the composition itself is very strong at first glance it looks like the piece might actually be the real deal all the details in the print add up and as Brett keeps on going the excitement in the room builds up which could mean some serious bucks for Rick but is it just too good to be true don't think that this is a real early impression I don't think it's indicative of the laid paper I also don't notice in the image Mr dur was doing the etching he left little grooves of metal over time you lose the Burr so I don't see much in the way of Burr even though it's not an early impression it's a valuable anywhere from 20 grand to 50 Grand sadly though definitely is not the original print which means that it's not worth as much as Rick thought it would be and while that is sad news the good news is that the print is still from the original carving which means that it still definitely holds a lot of value 500 years of History hey how can help you beautiful piece of Renaissance art open this very carefully I it's 500 years old all right so you have what appears to be an etching who is it done by Raphael the turtle or the artist it's uh been in the family many years and uh my daughter about to get married the work is worth in our opinion $95,000 this man walks into Rick's pawn shop and he claims that he has a piece of art that's over 500 years old right off the bat Rick is super interested he wants his hands on this print that's allegedly a Raphael original and if that's true Rick is looking at a huge profit here when someone walks in my pawn shop they say they have a Raphael walking in here I have the Holy Ground my wife and I got it and uh her family gave it to us when we got married you know rapel I think died in like 19 20 and he's considered maybe the greatest painter ever of course Rick lets the man know that he's extremely interested especially if this is an original Raphael he starts geeking out over just how valuable the piece can be a lot of these times they had these big commissions that would take forever to do it on the side it would be doing small drawings like this and there would be a sheet of wax over it and he would draw into the wax they would soak the copper plate in acid okay so it would make an indention that's why people bought the prints because they considered it made by the artist it's a remarkable find just like the last piece this piece is allegedly the first print that was obtained from the original carving and almost immediately Rick starts getting into all the details trying to identify whether or not this is the real deal this artwork could bring in lots of money first off what do you want to do with I'd like to sell it I was looking for $95,000 it's actually done by Raphael you might be asking too little the art I know about a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing you want to meet me over at his gallery we can go up there great all right we'll see you there oh I would like the expert to look at this and see the age of the print and how beautiful it is yeah he came out to your shop on the Monae now before coming to any decisions Rick lets the customer know that he wants to get the print appraised by an expert just to make sure that both parties are getting a good deal and thankfully the customer agrees to do exactly that and soon enough it's time for the big reveal when Rick called me and told me he was bringing somebody because if this sketch is legit this is going to be probably one of most important pieces ever you don't get much higher up the pyramid than Raphael you got Leonardo da Vinci you've got Michelangelo and then you've got Rafael I mean he was considered a prodigy and just an exceptional drafts and let's just say that Brett is more than ready to take a look at this print because of how important it has been in history and if this is a master like the customer claims it is Brett is convinced that this piece is going to cost a fortune uh he was exceptional at capturing really the idealized human particularly Michelangelo's David uh the picture of the model that Michelangelo used for David what I'd like to do I want to take a closer look at it uh with my magnifying glass so I'll take a look here because the customer then spills some information that takes the stakes up a notch because it looks like the sketch in the print went on to become Michelangelo's inspiration for his artwork David Rick is practically bursting with excitement at this point papy is maximum 100 150 years never from period uh so certainly from a period standpoint that matches up with when you said it entered into your family obviously if Rafel himself had done an engraving we'd be talking you know hundreds of thousands 150 years ago that's still you know 300 years after he lived okay so what do you think it's worth after a lot of careful consideration Brett and the expert he has brought on to help him with this case come to a conclusion that the paper is way too thin to be from Raphael's time so while this might be an excellent replica of the real thing it sadly isn't as is valuable $300 $400 it has more value as a collectible well okay it has a lot of value to me well obviously we're not going to make a deal because this just money's not there I'll be honest with you put the name tribute bike on it and you'll get more than a th we all make mistakes Rick it'll be okay yeah this is fake as hell man dude sorry about that thanks for the bad news all call me anytime you got any questions dude oh the air of De ception and the Mastery of forgery watches Rick and his crew witness it all from framed compelling backstories to Hidden gems with Hollow claims fake memorabilia and an unsuspecting Pond broker as the curtains rise we delve into a riveting narrative exposing deceptive dealings that leave scammers in the spotlight instant excitement for Rick and Chum as if thrown back into their childhood when a customer walks in with a Donald Donald Duck themed bicycle my boss is going to love this I'll tell you what let's get it out of the parking lot come with me all right this is absolutely great what did Donald Duck say when he went to the restaurant put it on my bill Pat the seller of this piece an iconic Mastercraft in the early 1920s to late 1950s purchased the item from an unknown website which sounds Shady if you ask me but that was just half of it and when I saw this on a obscure website I thought I had to have it and I grabbed it turns out that it's a small child's bike Rick and Chum once again Pro their knowledge of history and all things goofy as they mention essential details about the production of the bike and the story behind the character who inspired it he came out in 1934 when he first made his appearance in Disney's animated short wise little hint from there his career took off Mickey Mouse can't do anything the least bit controversial where Donald on the other hand could be his grumpy Donald Duck and that's when people fell in love with him now now down to bargaining you can count on Rick to always bring his a game haggling down the price to $2,250 he seems pretty excited about the deal so much so that he stayed back in the garage to continue staring at the beautiful piece while Chum went on with all the paperwork little did he know that it was all about to come crashing down 2250 and I'm crazy at that price I'm going to walk at the price I mean I really can't go anymore okay I'll take that all right 2250 we got a deal come with me we'll do some paperwork all right you go ahead and play with your bike Rick takes the bike in for repairs spending an extra $350 hoping to make a profit 10 times the repair cost and above it all things being equal so check this out is that the Donald Doug bike did you get the horn to work of course what about the eyes do they light up kind of looks evil with the eyes lit but sadly things aren't equal at all and this ground is in fact very shaky it turns out the bicycle is only a replica and was made a little after production of the original Donald Duck bikes and ended and was out of circulation I'll be in at 2600 and I should get 5,000 out of it right well I got some bad news Shelby only made this bike in 1949 so it's not a true Donald Duck Rick is devastated by the news but like a true businessman he still hopes to make a good sale and at least get some of his money back now I'd be lucky to get th000 bucks I'll be honest with you put the name tribute bike on it and you'll get more than a th we all make mistakes Rick it'll be okay all right Bob you want to grab it and bring it over the shop I'll get you paid another exciting day for Rick at the pawn shop who immediately recognizes a Salvador Dolly painting brought in by a prospective customer looking to sell the piece whatever it is this big you tell me what it is well it appears to be a Salvador Dolly you didn't put the glitter on it did you no he's known for his best work the Persistence of memory which hangs on the walls of the Museum of Modern Art in New York dolly is known for his striking and bizarre art which earned him the title master of surrealism in the early 1930s I've had it for about 10 or 12 years it's been in my home on the wall like to sell it because I could use the money all right yeah Salvador Dolly pretty neat guy a weird guy he came up with a whole melting clocks and they were really really po popular you can hear the excitement in the art curator's voice as well as Rick's talking about this piece and both hoping that it is authentic yeah I've never seen a bedazzled Dolly I have heard that he has embellished with glitter in the past so it's a possibility if it's an authentic hand embellished Salvador Dolly with all of his own personal touches on it it can be very very valuable give us some good news Brett well it all seemed too good to be true even I was AC excited about the purchase as it was such a lovely piece one than I wish I could have hanging on my bedroom ceiling but no records of the painting are found in every Archive of Dolly's work so Rick had to back out of the deal this is pretty all-encompassing so the fact that it's not in here I'd have to say that it's not a legitimate piece you know there's nothing I can do with it but just remember nothing ventured nothing gained so thanks for bringing it in though man hey thank you a lot sir all right critics believe that Lewis's etchings bir an entirely New Era known as the Bodo movement in the late 1920s see his art depicted undressed women it was featured in several fashion Publications back in the day two Lou iart etchings these could be worth a lot of money especially if they're the right once so I've called up Chad and we're waiting on the guy Rick is exhilarated to check out the piece and meet the curator selling it got him a sheriff's auction G County Kansas sheriff just had some iards they just happen to be there unfortunately for this seller the paintings are only a print and not Lewis's original etchings Rick had to take a hard pass on this one that's a photo printed of the piece and that's uh not handsome that's a it's they're stamped and printed these are not etchings no they're not etching and like when I talked on the phone I thought they were going to be the the genuine etchings they're just not okay so thanks for bringing them in though thank you Rick another iconic piece from the early 1940s Finds Its way into the pawn shop Joan Meo etching it's an aqu etching by Maro Jan Maro okay it looks really cool definitely a r this could be anything you know like it really gets you thinking what could this be $10,000 Henry the seller hopes to get $112,000 for the piece and would be happy to go for at least 10 the money will be spent on taking his wife on a vacation happy wife happy life am I right I want to sell the moo because I am traveling now with my wife so it's either sell it or find a permit home for it until we settle down I'm selling the Maro for $112,000 I'd be willing to go as low as$ 10,000 after calling for an appraisal the expert does not have a lot of good things to say about the art piece although it appraised as an original piece by the artist the signature on it was a fake which alone reduced the authenticity and therefore the value of the artwork I do see plate marks which would be indicative of an engraving where they actually press the copper plate into the paper you can see it kind of you know the trace of it there the signature usually appears higher up within the composition below the green I think what this might be was an original graphic that somebody else signed and numbered John linen was known for his Whimsical and playful scribblings popular in the late 60s the artist has many pieces from his collection circulating worldwide his artwork is intriguing and sought after by collectors how can I help you I have some original John linen artwork to sell the John linen the John lenon um come with me good employees are hard to find the artwork is original John lenon N panel self-portrait owner Carrie hopes to make a huge profit selling one of these drawings a scribbled self-portrait of the artist he hoped to get at least $20,000 for the drawing as the amount would make his birthday all the more exciting as it happened to be that day so um you're looking to sell it I am and how much you want for it 20,000 20,000 unfortunately the art piece was appraised as a fake saying that the paper it was drawn on was printed after John linen had passed away so unless he somehow time traveled or resurrected like Jesus on Sabbath to draw a self-portrait the artwork was a phony he passed away in 1980 this type of paper didn't exist in 1980 for the next 50 of these pay 10 bucks a piece for every one of them maybe one of will be real okay have a good one well I appreciate it thank you no problem a man walks into the store with the a Sandstone dancer statue from the 20th century which he claims to have had in his family forever these art pieces are popular in India as a representation of emotions and self-enjoyment this is ancient aspar dancer statue from the 10th Century made out of sandstone okay so you had an ancestor who was lived in India or visited there or I'm from India myself okay Rick again relies on an expert for the statue's authenticity which could fetch more money if it was confirmed as an origal you come in to look at a piece like this and I know some interior decorators that probably spring for that right now you know like I put it on their shelf first off he says from India and the 10th Century which means it's like 1,100 years old it's in really good shape yes okay well that wasn't shocking at all despite being thousands of years old the artwork seemed All Too impossibly Perfect ordinary and in perfect condition If This Were sandstone a thousand years old it would be pitted terribly um they we never get them in museums that look like this this piece is missing the feet which is very interesting to me although it still has some value to it which Rick was willing to bargain for it was a replication done in Cambodia and it's probably like around maybe 75 to 150 years old but it's still a beautiful piece and it's something that I'm sure somebody out there would love to own and and display in their home owner Chelsea walks into the store to sell a total of seven boxes of comic books who better to know what they're worth than Chum Lee right I have my uncle's comic book collection he passed away and this was handed down to me and they're all comic books all comic books if I sell the comic books I'm probably going to spend the money taking my kids on vacation he takes it upon himself to appraise the comic books against the advice of calling in an expert to have them checked out the X Force issue two this is like one one of the first couple times Deadpool made his appearance in a comic book and there's seven boxes of these babies sometimes you can just fill the deal Chelsea and Chum come to a bargain of $500 for all seven boxes of comic books would you go $450 on them 500 is going to be the lowest I can go I don't know life is about chances and sometimes you just got to take them I'm going to do the 500 I'm going to show everyone what expert I really am sadly after an expert's appraisal a majority of the graphic novels are in Rick's own words recy recable paper leave it up to your expert I bought these comics for 500 bucks when did you become an expert on comic books I only worked to the pawn shop for almost 15 years the store would be lucky to get their money's worth off the purchase but I think Chum is just excited to have the comic book collection himself on some comic books I'll be lucky to get like 180 bucks out of and seven boxes with the recyclable paper so they're basically worthless owner bill has come to pawn a Wells Fargo strong box containing the total package handcuffs balls and chains well we got a Wells Fargo strong box and some antique ball and chain I'm looking to get around $2,000 for everything the least I would take is probably around1 18 it was used for storing customers valuables while traveling in the late 1800s along with other dark histories this ball and chain right here uh actually comes from the human prison the oldest prison in state of Arizona back in the day a ball and chain kept prisoners from making a break for it dragging a big hunk of iron around would do that a bargain is struck between the haggling pair a price of $450 for the Wells Fargo box excluding the devices of torture that it carried I'll give you 400 bucks for the box and I will get one of my guys to help you carry all the stuff out I'd like to at least get $500 for it I'll meet you in the middle of$ 450 okay all right unfortunately for Rick he should have called in an expert before signing off the deal as it turns out the box is a fake I I don't have good news for you this is a complete fantasy piece I thought it was fake to start with well then why didn't you say anything I didn't want to bust your bubble hoping to get at least $1,000 to $1,500 for a decorated massive tooth owner jenley boldy stepped into the pawn shop carrying her prized piece of art we got here an ivory tusk with my Ivory test that is beautifully handcarved I would hope that I could get somewhere between a thousand and 1,500 for it owner Chuck initially had the katana sword on display in his office but after a Japanese employee had mentioned that it' be worth a lot of money he took it upon himself to get the item checked out hey great I've got this ancient Japanese Katana signed by K is himself and I'm interested in selling it I've been told the value is anywhere from $2,000 to $100,000 and so this guy's a limit Chuck believes the sword belonged to Koda Isa son of Japanese murai and military commander mitsuna Ishida from the late 1600s and you mentioned a name that's signed by a gentleman by the name AA asida sword expert Mike yamazaki is the pawn shops go-to expert for all things swords in japanesey he does not have a lot of good things to say about the sword and confirms that it's a replica of the original leaving its owner Chuck in awe there is no such maker as is KOA unfortunately these swords were actually made in in China about 15 years ago owner Mark took a gamble on buying a mandolin guitar after hearing that Orville Gibson possibly crafted it in the early 1900s I have a Gibson mandolin mind if I play a couple tones sure absolutely Chum takes a massive swing on this bargain reaching a deal with its owner without getting a proper appraisal of the item or waiting on Rick for confirmation to proceed with the deal what are you trying to get for it well I'd like to get three grand out of it if I could would you be willing to go any less 1,500 and we got a deal 15 sounds fair I can make a profit all right that sounds good I appreciate it Rick's definitely going to kick him in the bud for this one as it turns out the item is a fake yeah this is fake as hell man dude sorry about that thanks for the bad news all call me anytime you got any questions dude oh
