I have one simple question is it worth it and that's where we're going to talk about today with the s-- warrior mini squeeze at water filter after i've been able to take this on a trip recently i am happy to report that this sawyer filter is probably one of the best investments that you can make as a lightweight / ultralight backpacker and let's discuss why really briefly because the sawyer has obviously been reviewed multiple times and does not need another review to say this is what it does and this is how much it weighs and all of that stuff I'm just focused on why you should pick up this little guy and use it as your primary filtration system so recently I went and back packed into the little Grand Canyon of Utah and I have traditionally either taken a MSR mini works water filter or I have done aqua mirror drops and now that I've purchased the sawyer filter i am hands-down probably not going to use anything else unless I only see a specific need for the mini works our pump style filter or for me to take drops because drops are the best option but let me tell you a little story about this backpacking trip so I wanted something that was very light and very easy to use one of the negatives and downsides to the pump style filters is you've got a squat down you've got to sit in the dirt and you've got to make sure that the hose stays in the water the whole time and it's kind of frustrating in it a lot of times my back starts to hurt after a while flow rates aren't that good they get clogged really easy and so I have resorted to drops because of how simple they are the nice thing about the Sawyer is you are getting something that is very very easy to service in the field so the San Rafael River here in Utah is a desert River so it's a murky River that's full of sand and silt and backwashing this filter in the field was a breeze so I was able to filter the necessary amount of water that I needed for it what I mean is for the bottles that I had with me now that I am using smart water bottles I'm a lot happier with how this functions in how it attaches to bottles and just the overall use of it the fact that you can use this as an inline filter is really awesome as well and the way that these ends are set up allow for that to be done really simple my one suggestion about the filter is that the 16 ounce bag that comes with it is just simply not enough and you need to have something bigger than that I would recommend at least the 32 ounce I just purchased for nine dollars on Amazon a bag or a set of three bags for me to take out of the backcountry so I can take the 16 ounce if I want with our 32 ounce or I can take multiple bags and save a lot of weight that way a lot of people were saying that you can leave the backwashing syringe at home which in the future I'll do and because I'm using smart water bottles now I can get the squeeze top for the smart water bottle and use that as my method of back flushing so the answer to the question is the Sawyer is absolutely worth the investment and the very small investment that you are making $20 on Amazon and you get all of this an extra nine dollars you get three 32 ounce bags totally worth it because an MSR mini works is $90 and if you want to go something as crazy as like the new MSR Guardian your $350 others for something like that and it's just not necessary so there it is guys the Sawyer mini water filter totally worth every penny and I highly recommend that you get it
