SAVE $$$ | DIY Lawn Leveling Tool

hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Don's lawns in today's episode we will be building our very own lawn leveling tool we're gonna probably save about $100 by doing it ourselves let's get to it all right so we're gonna build this long leveling tool out of slotted angle it is 18 gauge 18 gauge slotted angle from the big hardware stores we will probably be trying to make it out of 36 inches we're gonna build this out hopefully get the frame set up and everything put together we're gonna hold it all together with nuts and bolts and lock tight and some lock washers hopefully maybe not locked tight we'll just see how the lock washers work but let's get to it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I got as much done as I could today I realized I need to get some more material because this has a little too much play in it even with the bolts tightened up but I realized I have some flat bar leftover from my long stripe DIY kit if you haven't seen that video check that up in the description above but I'm gonna buy some more of this and attach it diagonally here to provide a little more stability and rigidity to this long leveling tool [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] guys I've been tinkering around with my long leveling tool for a couple days now trying to figure out the best way to mount a handle on to the actual leveling tool and well I tried cutting off a tee and maybe using PVC as a push-pull but that really is the PVC was just too flimsy so then I went and I found a threaded 60-inch utility handle here and I thought well maybe I can figure out a way to get a thread and thread that into it and of course Home Depot was no help they didn't have anything that really would work for me they didn't have the female into this unless I wanted to buy like a paint roller or buy broom or a squeegee or something like that so that was no good but I didn't want to give up on this so I went ahead and bought it was like 5:48 it wasn't too bad and I came home and I was looking at it and messing around trying to fair it away I thought well maybe I'll cut off this in here and drill a hole through the metal and just put the bolt through there and so I decided I wasn't gonna do that yet I wanted to keep looking around and I found this in my garage so what I decided I'm gonna do is I'm going to I'm still gonna drill a hole through the metal here that's also gonna help hold the wood inside there and I don't know give us some beefy support so I'm gonna put that through here now I'm gonna make this hole a little bit bigger and that's the hole this is the hole that's gonna mount to my leveling tool and I may have to cut these off a little bit here and here so they don't dig into the ground as I use the tool but this is going to mount to my long leveling tool and hold the handle in place right yeah I think it'll work [Music] [Music] I built that long leveling tool I also built my DIY long striper both of them for under $30 each that's right under $30 each if you're looking to save some money use your hands use your mind figure it out and build it yourself okay I hope you guys enjoyed today's video remember to be looking for me using my lawn leveler very soon in the back lawn and also remember to hit that like button tap subscribe that way you can stay tuned for more of my videos hit that Bell if you want to get the notification I'll see you guys in the next one best of luck in the lawn [Music] [Music]
