[Music] well has it watch my channel and watch my Stu's will know that recently I've just purchased two new chucks yeah over the back here we have a salut let's say you know you it's an 8 inch or 200 millimeter self-centering 4 jaw Chuck so it's the scroll Chuck and with that with the Chuck you get a set of reverse jaws as all as well but on the six jaw I bought a childhood millimeter six jaw of the same brand sanu si in oh you sometimes I think that looks like it dude but anyway but it's a it's a six or self-centering clutch so Chuck so it's a scroll Chuck so look I'm happy with the overall Chuck's they do feel a little gritty table and so because I feel greedy I'm going to pop them apart yeah I have I bought a couple of d1 - for backing plates and I've just finished using a dro function on the mill to get the hull centers right and well I've had it on the back of the Chuck both the Chuck's of the Sai this one came with a within instructions with the measurements and this one didn't so we did a bit of a measure of ramen and we found it it's balled it up nicely there was no problem at all and so we have to clean that up after machining in a little bit and it feels a bit gritty but whenever your machine doesn't this little video is about popping this six jaw of park and cleaning everything up now I've got a little tub of degreaser here and I have a few Ziploc bare and I'll just pivot you round here a little bit I've got the the ultrasonic cleaner it's all heated up ready to go so the idea is to get whatever parts will fit from Chuck here and we're going to put them in that bath and see here we go some of the bigger parts we'll just have to take outside and give it more take up the back and cleaning the normal parts washer but the little parts I'd like to just drop in the ultrasonic cleaner so I suppose we have to look at this and where do we start so I think the best place would be these three Phillips head screws there lever pop them out actually before I do that I really shouldn't wand all the doors here you can see a little bit of rubbish uni will slide all the jaws here first up I'm just gonna do these up again that feels quite tight to turn I have had the jaws out and back in so we're just popped a and that supports the scroll and the pinions a little bit so actually now the Pina this is just a dust play anyway I'll get this undone I've got the t-handle here just over the edge of the bench so I can turn it so we should be screening a little bit better than there I think that noise finishing everything up but it just feels gritty it's half as good as the others I see it'll be good um where this where this lippies here that sits into the back of the Chuck I've left about three ther or made this about three ther too small so once we get it clanging and on we can bump it around and try and get it as frozen possibly can so we have good repeatability with whatever we choose to do then I reckon this will be a pretty favorite little Chuck once we've done the forward jaws any well I bought it for square stock and things like that just to do jobs nicely please all these jewels because it's a scroll Chuck the whole idea drill check out the ear and give her a speed like as number one on that one and the number six on that one so I imagine this would be number two yep and then if you keep them in order at the moment well pop the top upside down we'll get them over there ready for cleaning well now take this backing plate off other than the noise in the background there that's the ultrasonic cleaner heating up again I've got it all played out 80 degrees C so that's just a little alloy plate that sits down on the gears smaller more or less just to keep the rubbish out but these are the pieces here they probably stop this my trouble and coming up too far there's no lubricant in there at all really nothing at all really so it looks like we have a couple small well and head screws here to hold opinions in just like feel greedy as well they must put these together on the floor each other there's really good right now this pinion should come here near this stage it doesn't matter where they go there's no bearing on anything and I bag do feel good the edges have been tidied up there's no sharp edges there at all the side of the gears feels good you know this fellow he yeah you pop him strikes down flat and get on each side between the scroll and there's a scroll once a guy Nikki's the keys are nice like they let Peter have a good shake tunes sharp edges the scroll look at the scroll the scroll has been all the bird and everything too so that's good it just feels gritty it may be the same key conditions it was pudding there's no loo Oh a little bit I'm a little bit on my finger there so the idea is to put a bit of oil on that on the jaw side your bit of grease at the back for the opinions of the lady say so okay let's pull it apart now these little bits and pieces here probably all the screws can go into one pot so we have three backing plate screws and the three that hold opinions in and we could put opinions in there and we could add somebody drew either won't get most of the air out I believe so so ring to expand give it a stir join will spin around lift you up a little bit well that's quite warm I will pop that in there with the degreaser I expect as it heats up this bag you'll want to go so see the bubbles [Music] well that's a bit of a laugh YUM the bag line Nick the head of Mama's kitchen wasn't up to the top well we've got everything cleaned up and I just put a little bit of wd-40 on the outside so you know so I didn't mark while we were playing with it here yeah I've cleaned all the parts up and I can't get any dirt off anything sort of blind them all dry and yeah it's as clean as I believe we can get it so we'll start by popping together so first cap off the ring will just be this scroll and I'll just kind of put a bit of oil where that runs I didn't want any grease on the scroll side really mainly due to with picking everything up he Oded would make everything stick so a little bit of oil on the scroll sides okay I believe so we'll [Music] I'm putting me nice and I even if I can see that's still just a little bit there we go that's just been in crooked a little bit crooked so honest join me we'll just find a little bit of oil down there that feels nice now I've been on YouTube and I've watched quite a few videos on on what we should leave this with I put a thing on YouTube Machinists the Facebook page and some come in saying leave them dry it'll pick junk up others said put up a grief Stefan said molybdenum base grease are just a good quality grease in the back here and wait look at the Bison be able to YouTube put vice and Chuck service well like put a heap of grease in the back here but they put a heap up the front well probably not going to follow him there but we have a optimum choice grease I use a lot and look it's just a good grease I can I use it on almost everything so what I'm planning to do is just grease all opinions and all the gears and all with the optimum choice grease will be right around there and so we're gonna live the back of the chuck up with grace and we should should get a good run yeah it was pointed out to me too on YouTube and on Facebook and that that this is a job you should be doing from time to time with your chucks and I must admit with my with my other three jaw on the live I probably haven't done this well I can't remember doing it anyway I've had it for about ten or eleven years so not very good practice I would say but anyway if it was a tractor I'll be all over you for not servicing it properly lots of grease everywhere in this little groove where the where the bolt that holds it in guys will make sure there's plenty of knee okay I'm gonna get this old trap so he so doesn't matter what I do here I'm going to do something wrong so summer saying don't greens them at all yet if you look at the bison well the name mate chucks they put a heap of grease in here so don't put them to heat the grease in walk a bit off slippery nothing a honeymooners so we'll just tidy a little bit of grease up from around the edges he Sanda sake [Applause] [Applause] so no doubt there's a lot of different um lies of thought on what we should be doing here but this is what I'm doing right now these little screws that hold opinions in okay I should have enough grease on it so one now it's not what are you doing yeah he's over here [Applause] so they're just damn foam well just making sure really that they didn't go down and the squirty bought him deaf before the thread actually logger was rubbing on the geek another piece like it's what we have no tied they're not gonna go anywhere because there's gonna be a check back in psyche so we'll just [Applause] until we pull that apart that the man of Greece is going to be falling yeah we're not going to let it go there's life I didn't give much thought to service on my Shack so I haven't been doing that so I probably should so we've got this Daniel let's clean the surface where it goes actually I shall find these screws there in the bottom of the pot from where the plastic bag broke nothing gets locked I did here that's no no sense in doing that so okay I'll find the screws in the pot I'll fish them out then we'll come back throw them back I'll try never look in the bottom of these um parts cleaner later they felt quite gritty so I'll just once I'll get everything out I blow up dry clean it off and then by giving a little bit of bright cleaner I didn't blow it off the guy [Music] Oh Nick this up not over tide once more no need for that mr. clean off on the back here now this D 1-4 backing plate it can be dropped on there now once again I'll give that a good claim of just popped a little bit of wd-40 type spray on it so at this stage what I'm going to do is put these in they're gonna be firm but not tight I'm hoping to be able to loosen these off and make sure that they are Chuck's true but they're just in there for the moment we need to see one - for stun but we'll get the jaws in first yeah on the scroll truck just tiny bit of this grease off I'll probably curse in this grease but anyway I think that's all I thing to do and down in the valley yet we have number three this is number one here so what we're looking to do to get the jewelry if you can see I'll bring this over the edge of the table we're looking for the start of the scroll they're busy you can just say disappearing me okay that's how the way near we need to find your number one five so it's one two three four five one two three four four is over there number one here it is they on the bison Chuck service at this stage they actually put a lot of grease in here too and if I'm choosing not to do that if we hold that in you should just be able to feel that void in and you'll start to see it move you can see it move in here and I keep turning until I can just find the gap or just find the ring starting for number two jaw so we look for number two jaw number three number six number two there's been one of those things I won't have to stand next to it when I first tell you all right there's the start just coming for number three here so we had number three yeah before starting all these doors are moving insane we're moving a little bit number six is just lining up now now we can hope that een so you can feel if you've got it too far and then you just go back and that's big in there yeah we're pumping the ball down here while we're down and you can see that pops out the side bits that's very nice it's feeling good I took the spring off the key or just not wanting to leave mean any ride but just even that's this job comes together nicely so you think a six jaw chuck it doesn't quite hang on to that well the bit worried I forgive it's bike net and I still got a bit of movement at this end the jaws are parallel let's go a little bit bigger it's just for the fun of it okay that's there's no movement I feel really nice yeah we're just running through these prices a couple of times was not greediness anymore will spread that or they out all over the place over here so it doesn't rust on me but out in much of trouble with rust now that I'm in my little shipping container workshop with an aircon you know it's a far better environment to no more big open sheet much it was closed up the back but it was three hundred square meters so what's that nine hundred he hasn't square foot something like that what's four rights thirty-two 320 square meters okay look that's just lovely that feels really good we're gonna have to do that to the four jaw over the back here yet but one thing at a time I'm being pretty keen to get this goin and have a bit of a fiddle on pop a bit more oil in there [Applause] you know thinking the guts there I think the hollers then you might be too much but I don't have to check them okay now we're not machined the backing plate up you buy them as a blank I've always got a little mark on my on the flames for the D 1-4 and I I always put my chucks on in the exact same orientation so I have to send a pop here so center punch mark here so all this surface the front surface the whole lot was machined with that lining up with the reference mark on my life so I'll put them up for all the pegs in here and I'll get that set up and when we come back I'll have this sitting in the light and we'll hook a dial gauge up and we'll just see what running out there isn't safe boy loosening or tightening these these screws a little bit and bumping him around whether we can get him really accurately that's our goal we're gonna have a go well I put a zero on this jaw again and I've turned my adapt around and done a couple of tests just to make sure the adaptors true and make sure we know on the weather where the Morse taper key goes and when I come to this jaw here mark 0 1 of 0 my dog I Chi so I am right on 0 check it again I come around 90 degrees on +1 maybe one and a half when I come 180 to the zero I'm back on zero and then when I come to this groove here I'm barely one here the other way and so that tells us we're about one and a half well but other one fair that way too much and I'll give it a bit of a bump with the with deadblow hammer and bring it over then we just haven't gone at thee we can't do it so what I'm going to do is unbolt the Chuck I'm gonna skim another fear we're on your theory yeah so I got ask you another thing off that shoulder then we're gonna try and bring the Chuck across this white or across that way one thing and that should take the low on the high here and we should be okay so I'll come back when I'm ready to have another look okay here we are with the Chuck back off and I'll just go take a little skim off this cast iron there's are going to be a couple of thing so we're going to are we on I suppose we'll go on 640 rpm and I'll just touch off then with the Dro I'll probably take say to Theo [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] okay I'll have to clean all this up in the I'll get the brake clean and we'll give it a good old tub and line earmarks up once more we'll put him back on and see how we go I'll come back when we're clean well I've machined a little off the Chuck off that shoulder there enough I filled around and bump to the beer and I spend a little bit of time on here and don't matter how I feel I'm still just over one fair way out just over look at this it's not one and a half it's one and one and a half of fluid hey but don't think about a self-centering Chuck we're gonna get much better look at what I'm like today just for a taste of loosen them off I'm gonna turn around 180 you'll see what changes that's a live spotty yeah and that's actually the that's the high spot so opposite daddy but we give that a bit of a mean back to the water zero out earlier once more it's just under a sail it's actually a bad thing as a slowly ho0 man once more nipped up okay you riding once more oh it's not even a there oh look it might be that's a that's a needle under one ther this sword and I reckon I can just just see the needle behind the line me see okay perfect well I've fiddled around with here and bugger the bear and a fan denial parallel sleeve agree on sleeve that's got a number three Morse taper in it and it's a it's a British made thing I believe it to be true and in doing it I can just get one fare so look I'm gonna leave it at that I thought it'd be clever you know I had a young I bought a couple of blank number two Morse taper sleeves for making a couple of adapters I was looking at doing and one of them I was just gonna sit it in the center of the rotary table and just indicate off it and that's jolly Java was going to do so we're still in the box brain you so I pulled it out the box put it in this comes free Sarah run ass right out of the box ha bloody Chinese anyway this pommy one we once there I'm happy that me that it doesn't matter where I put it in the in the jaw this fella let's go one fair running it so look I'm going to leave it at that I think trying to get closer I'll I'll bug without well I might not bugger it up but I think trying to get closer I'm just chasing for no good reason the self-centering trucks run by their nature they're out and a lot of people when they dial in a forge or they get to one fair and they call it quits but I I never did I tried to get it to tenths if I could but you know quarter was there something like that but anyway that's it six jaw Sando Sando 200 millimeter clutch pull apart service and tune up on same [Music] you
