Sankofa (CalArts Film 2024)

that I've been looking at for like a year and nobody bought it I just got paid like I should get it and it's so cute it has a bow and an emblem I'm really liking things with emblems right now emblems um I I just I really like like fancy like Academia I wear like the same shirt like every day not the same ex shirt I have a bunch of copies and like I wear these crazy pants because I'm like oh well I'm wearing a boring shirt this one's called Sova which means to like take what we have learned and what our ancestors have given us and to like move forward with it I think God designed us to be free and he designed us to to rule the world and to have a will and and be creative is because I don't really treat myself as a human I treat myself more like a cartoon I care about three things I think everyone should care about these three things in fashion one is silhouette the other is color color and then the third is texture you need to actively decide for each separate one are they unified or are they contrasting and before my favorite color was black and it went to purple and it went to no it went to black brown purple and then become pink I like ghetto fashion I love ghetto fashion I love historical stuff animal print ghoulishness and stuff like that Americana brings statement pieces conversation starters black wom Bohemian bell bottoms shirts with buttons and collar gy shorts tank tops po bug's got crazy drip Mai look yeah and also grunch fairy so we have this opportunity to be individuals yes and to be creative and especially as an artist I think me my body myself is my art so do you do you find yourself intentionally trying to change someone's perception of you or preconceived notion by the clothes that you do wear yes wow power I wore a shirt um this week and it was a picture of a black woman and it said black is beautiful so simple yeah my mom I got on FaceTime with her and she was like what does your sh say and I was like black is beautiful and she was like I love that but when you go grocery shopping don't make yourself a Target and I'm like oh celebrating myself is making me a Target I don't know I think it's all about comfort and not just like me when I'm like Comfort to sit in it and to move around in it like people wear fancy clothes because they feel comfortable wearing them it makes them more confident yeah so I I don't think I don't think people are that different from me that we're like fancy or stuff cuz I think that's just how they feel comfortable so it's not it's I don't think it is that that the world would be better if we were all naked like I think I think the whole intention behind it I think is that how do we live in the world in a way where we are not oppressed by the Brokenness that is now in the world it reallys to have to and we just have the freedom to have clothing rather than have to oh if that makes sense that made 100% sense yeah e
