take our bibles and open the book of romans chapter 15 17 romans chapter 15 verse 17 and it reads thus therefore i have risen to glory in christ jesus in the things which pertain to god when i when i try to interpret this verse to myself at least i then figured that it says to me therefore i'm convinced i am sure i am certain to praise and give glory to god with the things that he does today every [Laughter] amen [Music] episode church uh we want to thank god for giving us the gift of life we have to celebrate this beautiful day a special thanks to the sabbath school team for the special invitation our sabbath school today is going to come from the book of jonah we're going to summarize we're going to read from the from jonah chapter one from one to seven uh we are going to discuss or the topic for the day is down down down down so we're going to analyze four downs that we found them from the book of jonah from chapter one from verse one to seven um the very interesting book uh to read that i felt maybe today we should just share about the first down the second down the third down and the last down all right so we're going to read very quickly uh from okay now the word of lord came to jonah the son of amitay saying rice go to nineveh that great sit and cry out against it for their wickedness has come up before me but jonah rose to flee to tarnish from the presence of the lord he went down so we've already picked the first down i'll read it again but jonah rose to flee to churches from the presence of the lord he went down joppa and found a ship going to it so he paid the fare and went down so we are already on the second down and okay it says he paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to touch from the presence of the lord so we've already picked the first down uh the second down so we'll be able to look again for the third and fourth down then we are going to go into detail uh first voice says but the lord sent out a great wind on the sea and there was a mighty text on the sea so the ship was about to to be broken up then the marinas were afraid and every man cried out to his god and through the cargo through the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten the load but jonah had gone down so we are now picked the third down again but jonah had gone down into the lowest part of the ship he'd land down another fourth down and was fast asleep verse six so the captain came to him and said to him what do you mean sleeper our ice core your god perhaps your god will consider us so that we may not perish very seven so they said to one another let's come let's cast loads okay we can end on verse six so already we have picked all the four downs uh the first one the second one the third one and the fourth one so i don't want us to go to continue because we have to we will pick more downs again what happened in this chapter all right as i said uh this sub at school uh the topic is down down down down so we've already picked the four downs from phase one to verse four if i'm correct uh the truth of the matter is we afraid about jonah how he was he was a prophet he was not just an ordinary person he was a respected person he was called for a mission to go somewhere to go and preach and if you read your bible very well problem started when he moved away from the presence of god the moment he made a decision that no i'm not going to follow instruction that's when this down started the first one the second one the third and the fourth what i've realized to ask christians the moment you make a decision to move away from god things will never go well for you sometimes the start is a small thing then it starts to grow to grow to grow to grow so we are going to see we are going to learn uh some lessons about jonah because of the decision that he made to go to where he was not supposed to go all right so now on the first down that we've uh picked or we've uh it says that but jonah arrows to fleet touch from the presence of the lord he went down the moment he made a decision to move away to move from the presence of the lord he went down immediately after that it says that he went he from presence of the lord he went down to joppa and found a sheep going to church so he paid the fare and went down into it so you can see that these downs they started started about moving away from the presence of the lord he went to joppa uh then he paid the fee he went down problem started to continue from the first down to the third down where we are now so i want us to understand that you never succeed in your life if you move from the presence of god you can try and try and try and try we are living in the world whereby we are under the protection of holy spirit we are under the protection of the grace of god but when you make a decision to leave the church when you make a decision that no i'm not going to do these things problems will start immediately the attempt to flee from the presence of god costed him that's when we start to pick the first down you know the most interesting part about that after he made the decision the bible says he even paid the money but let me tell you this morning it was easy for for him to pay the money just a way of taking the money from the pocket oh i want to go i want to pay okay come pay it was easy but the problem was there was no return ticket so you may enjoy your life you can do whatever you want to do but you must understand that there should be a return ticket and the other interesting part is that he paid for the chain where he did not reach the destination imagine how stupid he was or how full he was he paid the money but he didn't reach the destination it seemed as if it was easy for him and sometimes we do some things thinking that our maybe i'm god is blessing maybe he could have just maybe was just thinking that ah so this is going to be very easy jain it's everything is going well but not knowing that he was not going to reach the destination so the attempt to flee from the presence of god costed him it says that the lord sent out a great win we always think that you know you know sometimes we have to thank the grace of god that in the situation that he was god didn't abandon him he still sent a great win but you and you you picked that even though there was a great wind he did not peak or he did not realize the presence of god it's because he was just going down down down and he says that if you go to verse 5 and 6 the sellers of the sheep seek their they started to pray they say last they were so desperate they need assistance they didn't know what to do one thing that i have learned about these people although they were not christians but when they realized that they were in danger they to call their own god you know sometimes as christians we really we we see problems coming to us but sometimes we don't even pick that but people who are not christians people are hidden sometimes they even believe in their gods but as christians sometimes we don't even see that it says that they started to throw everything out of the sheep they were in danger but you know is that when they were there when i was reading another book yesterday it says that jonah was not supposed to be there and his presence costed innocent people someone was suggesting in another book again that some of the goods they started to throw away they were gold there were jewelries and so on but the problem was this was caused because jonah was at the wrong place also at the wrong time so our presence at wrong places sometimes it cost people who are innocent and then if you go back again if you read again verse five and six it says that jonah had gone down and he had laid down faster sleep you see he was down at the same time also he was sleeping that's a bad combination he was he was down and later on he was fast asleep and he didn't know what was happening at that time jonah was fast asleep you know the painful part is that when these people were busy praying when they were seeking assistance when they needed help there was a man of god but that man of god was sleeping we are in the world we are in the society when the world is crying for the truth they don't know where to get the truth but adventists are sleeping christians are sleeping the man of god was just asleep and when the time that they needed him and you know the interesting part jonah was not an ordinary person he was a man with a mission who was sent with a mission and he knew himself that what he was doing was wrong he says that there was noise and the noise in the ship could not wake him up he was there when everything was happening this great noise this pandemonium you know when these men were crying and saying what should we do what should we do we are in danger but this man was he couldn't do anything the devil was making noise but jonah was just asleep he slept the place he thought no one could see him you you understand in this situation that he was he felt maybe if i sleep there i'm going to hide and so on but unfortunately things didn't go well according to his plan jonah slept while there was a prayer meeting sleeping christians they are costing the world as i mentioned to you earlier we are in the society where the world is desperate for the truth the world wants to know the action from us adventists but we are sleeping most of the time you know when they were busy doing their own prayer asking their own god that noise could have done something to this man you could have just wake up and say ah guys let me just tell you the truth i'm the problem but if we have christians who are sleeping they always cost us we are sleeping when the world want the truth you know the world sometimes we don't have to blame other people but the problem is with us all this noise or what whatever happened it was caused by by jonah who was at the wrong place at the wrong time sometimes problems within our families where we are coming from they are not caused by the people outside the problem is with us christians sometimes problems that we are having in our marriages don't blame our people outside the blame should come to us problems in the relationships that we are they are not caused by people from outside it's because we are at the wrong place at the wrong time his presence costed people and the same thing that is happening at the moment he went to a place where he was not supposed to go that's why he found the first down if you check the events he went down down down down down the moment you make a decision of leaving the presence of god things will be difficult for you imagine what he suffered many you caused people to to to throw their cargo and so on later on he was found in the sea later on he was found in a fish so on it's because he made a wrong decision brothers and sisters decisions that you make will cost your life you have to be very careful you can leave your parents you can leave your children but do not move away from the presence of god we are under the protection of the holy spirit the moment you make it you start with the first down second down 30 down fourth down then the next thing is difficult for you to come back from the presence of god let's thank the grace of god that even if we are down god will still always find a way of bringing us back may god bless you let's pray father god you are in heaven thank you very much for the sabbath school everything that we have learned this this morning we pray that lord whatever we go through in life we mustn't move away from end there every friday at 8 pm the center men gather together for prayer it's called adventist main prayer session it's every friday at 8 o'clock the man in our midst and at home because it happens on june please feel free to join and then we are going this afternoon at 3 30 it is that time of the year where we prepare for the nominations of the church we are busy with the leadership for 2021 we are now resuming the process of leaders for 2022 the special committee or selection committee will be elected this afternoon at 3 30 and this will happen on zoom this selection committee or rather the special committee will be responsible to to to form or elect the nominating committee but pasta is here and he'll be around he'll be part of that that meeting he'll direct those that haven't take part in this before but it's happening today at 3 30 sentence members please be encouraged to join and then we have a high powered preaching seminar wow this was wonderful i attended the first session last sabbath uh and today is the second last session it will happen at 4 30 and it is conducted for at four thank you it will be at four it's conducted by professor ferzin the dean of religion and theology at the university of the southern caribbean elders present and previous attended the session i didn't see some of my friends raswani is in our midst but i didn't see he didn't participate i'm sure there's still room for him to attend and of course all other elders that didn't get the opportunity to attend last sabbath very interesting and it is worth it please attend el daswane he's agreeing he says he will attend um at this time there's something called the round table with elders we need to know what are the elders are up to they meet every once a month they they they lead the departments they lead the committees for someone who who doesn't know what's going on in in leadership they asking themselves these meetings elders council meeting what is what is their role we will now give over married to elder abu pato so i know these things because i've seen them you know around their family friends but some of you guys might not know who mampimki is um she also does or what she's in charge of is publishing and welfare we call it the adventist community services right and what they do is they go out into the community and they help out so if you want to know what the church has and continues to meet you at your point of need i'm here to do the tithe and offering reading so let's close our eyes for a short word of prayer our kind and gracious father above all we thank you for life you've given us another day and we ask that you bless us on the sabbath in jesus name amen amen our text of consideration for tithe and offering this morning is found in proverbs 11 24 and it reads as follows there is one who scatters yet increases more and there is one who withholds more and in him leads to poverty solomon brings forward a bizarre concept here the more you scatter the more you increase your blessings you would naturally think that the more you withhold or keep to yourself the more you will have generosity is about a spiritual and a mentality mindset it requires us to live in faith and be willing to release that which is in our hand instead of living in fear and withholding the greatest analogy i can think in this instance is that of a river if you've ever had the opportunity to see a river you will see that often there are many animals birds deers around it it is constantly moving it is a well of fresh moving life and it feeds into its other rivers and feeds into seas and oceans but if you've also had an opportunity to see another water structure we know very well that a swamp does the very opposite a swamp keeps it holds so much so that things like algae grow in swamps as christians we need to strive to have a river mentality that especially with regards to our tithe and offering we need to be willing and happy to give a river gives time it gives energy it gives money resources and talents away on a daily basis a river mentality sees the opportunity to give as an opportunity to receive more and more blessings are you this kind of person on the other end a swim a swamp mentality rather is full of fear and insecurity where there is no release things start to rot the famous isaac fell into this problem he had a swamp mentality and this led to his children fighting over blessings he felt were only one the bible says in acts 20 verse 35 in everything i did i showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak remembering the words of our lord jesus christ that it is more blessed to give than it is to receive i believe a river mentality allows us to be generous not only today but on a daily basis i hope that you pray that you renounce any fear of withholding and you choose to be a cheerful and free giver in our weekly reading for this week we learn about george king who put god first even when he was rejected in his town as a preacher his courage and humility should inspire us today jesus gave up everything to redeem us and we should do the same the sda sent the sentence sda banking details will now be beamed again when i was reading this i was encouraged once more that i need to be confident to give myself to give ourselves to god not being embarrassed not being ashamed to tell his weight and to tell the truth as is sometimes as children of god we are embarrassed we are shy for people to know who we are for people to know what we stand for it is time as christians as children of god to go out there and let the world know our workplaces our friends the people we associate with we mustn't be embarrassed for the for us for them to know that we belong to the almighty may the lord help us as we made it as we meditate upon these ways that wherever we are whatever we do we mustn't be ashamed to tell his weight we have two pastors in our midst i suspect that is pasta moyo sitting over there and we have our very own pasta parkinson but i'm not i want to save pastor mario for now i will kindly ask our pastor pastor parkinson to lead us in prayer as we meditate upon these ways [Music] before we pray i'm gonna ask lord can you come and lead us into the blessed hour of prayer to get us into the right mood [Music] us he spared our lives to see yet another sabbath prayer is communicating with we come to your god because we know that you're always there [Music] scanning the universe with a listening ear we're grateful for your love and your compassion today we ask that you remain here with us your sons and daughters of satan we look to your god for forgiveness [Music] for your providence for your healing power for your encouragement oh father we thank you for the goodness and the blessings that you have granted us now we release ourselves to you as we enter into different phase of this divine worship service bless your people some of us are unemployed all of us are depressed some are still ill [Music] be back the powers of evil this day and may you reside in each home in your heart take charge in every situation lord be hungry spiritually we've gone we want to hear a word from you your brother servant give us a word to stand in your stand so lord we ask that you cover him into righteousness but life holds a fire brother's lips [Music] thank you lord for hearing the of this church because this church makes a difference in this community and it wants to do even more things greater things so we continue to request that you partner with us you may not be residing in this community but please partner with this church because sentine and the surrounding communities are going to be blessed and and and positively different because of of this church being here and still standing god is indeed good so this call when i talk about pastor lista this is what we term a corruption appointment you know you know what i mean if somebody is your friend and he invites you to come and preach he did previously and i said i was really under pressure because of the schedule but this time i thought that it's impossible for me to say to not to my friend [Music] let us put our heads and bow down in prayer because today we will visit the book of arithmetics which i know is not a darling to many bible readers let us pray father in heaven when we give our children food arithmetics is not a well-known book i say so because it attracts literally or no courts from many believers i know that even at school many of us used to run away from arithmetics we love to do might not like it you might think that it needs a calculator but surely be comfortable because you can cruise through without even touching a calculator it has lessons but the key lesson i find in that book is mainly how not to be the people of god we sit here trying to put ourselves next to god but the book of numbers gives us a picture of how not to be the people of god where god in your life sits aside and become a spectator and watch you as you live your own life and most probably when god decides to camp with your enemy you didn't get that when you know that the woman is a witch but he is no longer a witch he is she is also sitting with god on how to deal with you so that he can put you on the road when god decides to usher an enemy towards you maybe you cannot hear him when he calls you softly tenderly calling you but this time he says maybe the enemy can make sense to him i've always asked myself when i read the book of numbers why the book of numbers you know it's all about accountability always check where you start so that way you come to the end point you can see something different you see the king king nebuchadnezzar waked up in the morning and walks in there and he has a question did we not put in three people in there i have seen something wrong here there is a fourth man you know my dear friends why least you're worried about your problems why at least count your blessings name them one by one and see that indeed the lord is good don't be intrigued by the fires you're in but ask yourself why there is a fourth man who is this man i want to make a for 40 years numbers with drugs within your orbit for 40 years suffering for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness sometimes the problems you see in your children the people we live around who are dubious agonistic suspicious even in the board meeting they are always quizzical uncertain and uncertain of god's agenda why is the dead are sleeping comfortable and having an earth with god that i know surely one day you will come for us and when you come these bones will be taken with you see when you've been abused in the past you failed to look with the mirror of the future you know egypt more than canaan you understand egypt more than the promised land you are so more comfortable in egypt because you know the master who is a slave master you say dear leaders who have the grasshopper mentality when they go in front of challenges they see themselves as grasshoppers beware of leaders who when they enter the territories they are only interested in the perishables you know the bible says the spies came with a powerpoint evidence of some grapes fruits but there was one man there caleb he was busy surveying he was a land survey he was not only a spy them beware of such leaders land or grapes you want the fish or the sea let me say something to the church you don't necessarily need an atomic bomb to destroy a nation but you just need a bad leader hey go to some municipalities you ask yourself where are the potholes coming from you just need a bad leader hey cross over the border to to some of our countries immediately after the board regardless what kind of a car you are driving there was an atomic bomb which fell in that country it is just by a bad leader you see how powerful this church is you just need a bad leader to destroy it one bad leader yay one not many bad leaders one bad leader is equal to an atomic bond to destroy everything where do you think the portals come from they just come from one bad leader who does not know that they need to be perished and the bad news come from those people who were sent to go and confirm that indeed god is true at all times god has prepared a place for us at all times he has been saying i am coming for you to a battling but they came with the wrong powerpoint and god was not happy my brother god was not helping my pastor and he decided that let me destroy them now in the wilderness it was an imperative matter let me deal with them and the bible to to quicken the story the bible said moses listen to me moses say to god it is no longer about them but your character god you must mourn him and after mourning him you stand up and say freedom has come i am tired of being abused day in day out don't worry in the 40 years those who are stolen our progress they will die let me tell you something to the church leaders you need to understand me church leaders we might do something special here in santa but there are some elders before we can have impact in this place and heaven and that is our surrender and our acceptance of the fact that you promised that our heavenly canaan flows with milk and honey help us lord to be aware of that there is nothing in our current situation that is better than what you've prepared for us help us lord to be willing to surrender self to you to die to self so that we might live in christ and lord globally everybody who is watching this service today we plead lord for your visitation in our lives for you to talk to us in a different way today long time ago we sang a song that trouble sometimes i hear but we really didn't know what we were singing about now troublesome times are here help us lord to let go of whatever is tying us down to this earth and move up closer and move over and cross over to a place where we can walk humbly with thee father we thank you because you hear prayers and you answer them we ask you to do for us exceedingly abundantly beyond what we can ask think or imagine because we pray in
