Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 Review: A Faster Sequel

what's going on youtube my name is zach with android digest and today i'm going to be reviewing for you the samsung galaxy tab s6 lite and this is the 2022 version that actually just released with a newer processor and i'm gonna let you know my thoughts on this tablet so with all that being said let's get right into it [Music] okay so i want to start us off here by making a really bold claim and i just want to tell you that i think this tablet is one of the most overlooked tablets in all of 2022. like a lot of people didn't even know that samsung updated the tab s6 lite they didn't even realize that this new tablet has released in fact even i as a tech youtuber i heard some brief rumors that samsung was re-releasing the tab s6 lite but i never saw anything outside of a couple rumors and a couple articles and then one day i popped onto best buy's website and i saw 2022 in parentheses next to the tab s6 lite and then i realized that they actually did release this model in the us but a lot of retailers don't even have availability for this tablet yet so i know it's overlooked because people aren't seeing it but even beyond that it's also overlooked because of its price yes this tablet does retail for 350 dollars but i've actually seen this tablet the 2022 model it has gone on sale quite a bit it was on sale for 299 and at one point i even saw it go as low as 250. so if you find this tablet around 300 that's a pretty good deal when you're considering what you're getting if you're wondering how this model is any different compared to the 2020 model of this tablet all they really did was update the processor so this now has a snapdragon 720 in it and it's very similar to the performance of something like a google pixel 4a for example so it is mid-range performance but the performance is much better in this processor compared to the processor that came with the 2020 model if you look at everything else with this tablet it's gonna be similar to that model but a lot of you might be new to the tab s6 light so let me go through it with you you have right here on the back you have of course your nice samsung logo in the middle but you'll notice that everything seems to be oriented towards portrait mode because this tablet was sort of made to be held in portrait mode so the camera is right here on the top right hand side if you are holding it upright you have your samsung logo here and you have your charger here on the bottom now you do have two speakers on this tablet they are very very loud there's one on each side of the tablet and this tablet also has a headphone jack again a lot of tablet makers are going away from that so it's very good to see here you also have your sd card slot which is right here this tablet does come with the s pin which is great as well and it actually magnetizes to the tablet now the s pen doesn't have any extra features so it doesn't need to be charged it doesn't have those extra bluetooth features i should say that the tab s7 or the tab s8 have but nonetheless it still does work and it does have that little pop-up menu whenever you pull out your s pen whenever you press this button here you will still get those options and this tablet does still have palm rejection and a lot of other things like that so i'm happy to see of course a tablet coming with the s-pen especially when you can find it right around 300 or less now this is again a very nice aluminum build it does feel very good as far as the design and when you look at the screen itself it is a 10.4 inch screen it does have a 2000 by 1200 resolution and it is a tft lcd display that's one of the negative things about this tablet but again you're looking at the price point and you have to realize that it's not too bad when you consider that this tablet does come with the s pen it does come with a decent processor for the money so it doesn't have an oled display like a lot of other samsung tablets but still this display is pretty good it might feel a little bit dull again if you're used to something like the tab s6 or the tab s7 or the tab s8 but it is still very good again for the money you're going to get around 400 nits or so of brightness so it's not going to be the best it's not going to be the worst as far as the screen but at least it's above 1080p and it does look very good for youtube videos or when you're browsing around if you're someone out there who's used to all the fancier tablets you're gonna think this screen is awful but if you're someone out there who has looked at tablets around two three four hundred dollars i think you'll actually be pretty impressed with this display and if we take a look at performance you're gonna see a device that performs pretty well so this does have a snapdragon 720 g it does have four gigabytes of ram but i know a lot of people have all these pie in the sky ideas they think that this should have a 120 hertz refresh rate in the screen which it does not it does have a 60 hertz refresh rate a lot of people think that this should be the fastest device out and they forget that this device is 300 again if you're a tech snob out there or even if you're not a snob but maybe you've been using tablets that are five six or seven hundred dollars this device is not for you so you might wanna watch this for informational purposes but it doesn't mean you're gonna buy it okay that's just the reality of it a lot of people though haven't used those higher-end devices a lot of people are looking for more budget-friendly tablets so when you look at this a lot of people just want an s-pen and they want decent performance but they don't want to spend five six or seven hundred dollars and that's why i think this tablet can be such a good value when you're scrolling around on this tablet it feels much smoother than the 2020 model of the s6 lite it does seem to fly around without many issues of course you do have to understand you've got a limit with your ram a limit with the refresh rate so it's not going to be quite as smooth as a tab s7 or a tab s8 but again it does feel very smooth for the money it does feel like it's flying through my everyday stuff if you're someone who's trying to use your tablet to read someone who's trying to watch some videos and if you're trying to do some light gaming on low or medium settings this tablet will do very very well of course if you do try to push your graphic settings up too high or if you try to play those games that are super intense it might not work out as well for you but realistically for someone like me i just like to watch some videos i like to read the news i like to check my email and i like to occasionally do some productivity work and this tablet is great for all those reasons but also it's great because it also works with samsung dex now if you're wondering hearing about samsung dex you hear about that productivity maybe you're someone out there who wants to use decks wirelessly well this will not work with wireless decks and it will not work as well with plugging into a monitor so this does not have that capability built into the usbc port so it is a smaller screen for dex again a 10.4 inch screen but it will allow you to be a little more productive if you want a environment like that you could connect a bluetooth keyboard to this this does not have a magnetic keyboard attachment samsung does actually have a keyboard that they sell for this but it's a bluetooth keyboard so if you want any form of a bluetooth keyboard you could always buy one like the logitech k380 for 30 bucks i'll have a link in the description i also have a samsung bluetooth keyboard i paid about 40 bucks for and that actually has a key on it to open up samsung decks for easier access so this device will give you that opportunity to open up two three or four apps in a laptop-like environment so it's really cool to see that type of capability coming to a lower-end tablet and honestly doing productivity stuff having three apps open at the same time using my s pin to go around the screen i wasn't seeing a lot of significant lag and if you're someone out there who is looking at something like the tab a7 or the tab a8 you will notice a little bit of a jump in performance going to this tablet plus you'll get the s pen in the box a lot of lower end tablets don't have samsung decks and from what i know this tablet should get some decent software support so samsung has promised their higher end devices like the tab s8 they should get four big operating system updates but mid-range devices normally get about three years of updates now this device i haven't confirmed yet how many years of updates it will get and i'm really hoping they just don't throw this or lump this in with the older tablet and just call it a day and keep it on the same update cycle i'm hoping that's not the case but personally i expect this to get three full software updates because samsung has been so good about that and that's going to be very very refreshing for some of you on older tablets that didn't get a lot of updates so if you're buying this tablet you're not going to get a ton of fancy features but it's really nice to get decks and when you do get this s pen in the box again if you're someone who wants to take notes maybe you do like to take your device to school you want something nice and compact and even though i'm not an artist i will say if you're trying to take notes let's say you're using this for college or for school this will do so well with basic note taking and even though you might notice if you're a big nit picky person you might notice that this isn't quite as good as the tab s7 or the tab s8 with the refresh rate again the input lag might be a little bit more your average person isn't going to notice much input lag especially if you're coming from lower end or mid-range tablets and the battery life finally on this tablet it's pretty good it's a 7040 milliamp battery not quite as good as something like the tab s8 but since it doesn't have that refresh rate of 120 hertz this should get similar battery life to a lot of higher-end competitors like the tab s8 or like the tab s8 ultra when you factor everything in right and when you factor in what this is supposed to be it's going to be a pretty good value for you especially if you find it on sale for 300 or less this will give you good mid-range performance very similar to a lot of other devices around two to three hundred dollars but this does give you a bigger screen it does give you an s pen it gives you access to samsung decks which you can't normally get for this price and because this just released and it did release with android 12 i would expect more software updates to come so maybe you're someone out there who wants to have a good companion to go with your phone you just want a cheaper tablet for some basic usage some basic internet browsing or some basic youtube watching if that's you and you're just wanting a good tablet for that something to take notes on and something to be productive on occasionally this is definitely a great device to buy this tablet will be a little bit better in my opinion than a lot of lenovo tablets for the same price i think the lenovo p11 plus will be right there with this tablet but this does have an s pen in the box now the p11 plus might be a little bit cheaper and i do think the p11 plus will have a little bit of a better screen compared to this tablet but overall i would say this tablet is definitely worth buying i think it's worth the money and i would highly recommend it as long as you're okay with some compromises and as long as you're not a tech snob who needs the latest and greatest if you just want a good companion tablet for some light stuff this is a terrific tablet to buy especially with the support that i would expect it to receive thank you so much for watching this video by the
