from the Little I know...atonement means covering of sins...but the sacrifice on the cross took away our sins rather than just covered them.Still...its a highly informative vid..you jus gotta appreciate what they do..
Eleven upvotes but no discussion on lack of PSA?
I have to say, I'm not crazy about this video. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer here. However, there is no talk of the sin against a Holy God. I thought that was the angle they were going to hit at the beginning when they said our sin is against another person but also against the environment. They speak highly of God's love but God's love cannot be properly understood without first understanding God's holiness and our own depravity.
Not bad and I like that these guys focus so much on biblical theology.
I dislike that they have changed language of wrath and punishment into debt. It removes God as an active agent of judgement, and ultimately fails to articulate the great justice of God's punitive judgement of sin.
Death is not something we merely contract as consequence of sin. But God's verdict for our evil. If you really want to be biblical in your approach to atonement, you cannot fail to mention God's great anger at evil, and his promised judgement.
My five year old loves watching this one. I can almost recite it for you hahaha
